Halle Berry is making this hardcore drama up in Vancouver called “Frankie and Alice.” In it, Halle plays a woman suffering from multiple personality disorder, and apparently, the shoot has been difficult. Not only emotionally difficult for Halle, but it?s been one of the coldest early winters in Vancouver?s history.
Extreme weather plus a difficult acting task could make a diva out of a lesser actress or a lesser human being. But not Halle. LaineyGossip is reporting that for the final day of filming, Halle not only performed barefoot, in the cold, for hours and hours, but she gifted the crew with individual bottles of champagne.
Halle was spotted loading a truckful of Dom Perignon boxes ? each worth several hundred dollars ? into a van, and several bags too from Holt Renfrew. Very generous. Much more generous than so many of her peers.

It is unseasonably cold in Vancouver right now. She was barefoot for hours, no complaints, no whining, no diva antics, repeating the shots over and over and over again. And it?s clear ? everyone working on Frankie & Alice?they adore her. When they wrapped, she burst into tears. She hugged everyone. She thanked everyone. And you?d be hard-pressed to find a single member of the crew who isn?t completely in love with her. Not because she?s so beautiful but because she?s so so SO nice. Am told she even went the extra mile and indeed, pulled her movie star weight, only once when a producer was injured recently and was taken to hospital. She also waited at the hospital with the man for over an hour, just to make sure he?d be ok.
It seems silly to highlight a celebrity for simply being a decent human being. But really, there are so few in Hollywood? you?ll forgive me for acknowledging the rare ones?

Halle Berry?s gotten some bad press over the years for being somewhat accident-prone on sets. I never faulted her for it, because us accident-prone people have to stick together. Who else will spot us when a wayward bird dive-bombs us or when we fall going up the stairs? But still, Halle?s accidents have cost various film productions thousands, if not millions, of dollars in lost days. That being said, I don?t think I?ve ever read anything about Halle making unreasonable demands or pulling rank on anyone. Could it be that a nice, decent, generous, classy woman is so successful for a reason? Perhaps you do get more flies with honey.

Kate Winslet has been doing a lot of press for her upcoming film ?Revolutionary Road? with Leonard DiCaprio. She recently admitted that she left her ex-boyfriend, actor Stephen Tredre, when he was dying of bone cancer. Winslet said he broke up with her because he was afraid she was ruining her career by taking care of him. He died before he got to see Kate make it big - right before the premiere of ?Titanic.?
Kate Winslet regrets abandoning her dying ex-boyfriend - even though he told her to. Winslet dated actor and writer Stephen Tredre for five years, until he ended their romance in 1997 - fearing her fledgling Hollywood career would suffer if she spent her days caring for him.
After Winslet finished filming Titanic, Tredre died of bone cancer. Kate was not at the premier of blockbuster because she instead attended his funeral in London. But Kate wishes never agreed to Stephen’s wishes.
The actress - who is now married to director Sam Mendes - explains, “Stephen let me go, and that as an act of love from one human being to another was overwhelming.
“When I look back, I wish he hadn’t. I wish I had just been there. To the bitter end. He was gone very quickly and ? I still go over those moments in my head.
“I talk about Stephen as if I still love him. But I do. I hope I always will.
“You don’t (get over a death), you learn to live with it. I look back on it… and I still get upset when I talk about it.”

What a heartbreaking story. It doesn?t sound like Kate ?abandoned? Stephen so much as he wanted to do what was best for her, and she went with it. Clearly she?s still upset about her decision, but it seems like she?s chosen to look at it in the right light, in terms of it being an amazingly unselfish act on Stephen?s part. I think you could only do something like that if you truly, profoundly loved a person. Nonetheless, I don?t blame her for feeling guilty. It?s hard to match the kind of gift Stephen gave her, and her career really has blossomed. Hopefully Kate will eventually forgive herself ? it sounds heartbreaking, and like they both deeply loved each other.

But the ultimate point is clear: she realizes you can learn a lot about yourself when you?re single.
Kate Hudson may be “a hot ticket” in the dating world, according to her good friend, designer Stella McCartney, but the actress says she’s in no rush to jump into a relationship.
“I’m actually enjoying being single right now because I really never have been,” Hudson ? who’s dated Lance Armstrong and Owen Wilson ? tells InStyle magazine for its January issue.
“I feel good in relationships,” says the 29-year-old actress. “I enjoy them, so I feel my best when I’m in something solid. But it’s also the first time I’ve ever taken a step back and gotten a new perspective.”
“So,” concludes Hudson, “I’ve made a conscious decision to try to stay single as long as possible.”
McCartney, who interviewed Hudson for the magazine, chimes in, joking, “What’s it been ? all of two weeks? Congratulations!”
“Exactly,” quips Hudson, who McCartney says has “always been in demand.”

I?m not at all surprised that she?s “always been in demand.” It sounds like she realizes she can learn a lot about herself and have a good time by staying single for a bit. Hilary Duff is backtracking today saying she never told Elle in 2006 that she was a virgin.
“You know what? I was quoted saying I was a virgin, but I absolutely did not say that,” she says in the January issue of Maxim. “That’s nobody’s business but my own. Somehow it turned into a bad thing!”
Of course she didn’t say it. Disney told her to “imply” it to keep her image clean even though the Mickey Mouse Club probably ran through her like cocaine at LAX. Duff continues:
“I’ve been accused by the press of giving lap dances at clubs,” she says. “I mean, little ol’ me? It’s shocking.
“People love to believe it ?- it’s way more exciting to talk about than the truth! And they’re so descriptive about these lap dances,” she says. “I don’t even know how to do a lap dance!”
Oh, whatever. She did that shit. Paris Hilton uses almost the same line. “Be gentle. I’ve never done this,” is what she says right before she whips out the double sided didlo, nipple clamps and car battery.

I love a boastful father. Few things are as cute, even when it is Tom Cruise. Interestingly, Tom has been on his apology tour for the last few months. You know, saying sorry for jumping on Oprah?s couch, chiding Brooke Shields for taking antidepressants, and calling Matt Lauer glib. At one point, Tom admitted it would have been better to talk about the movies he was promoting instead of prattling on incessantly about his family. And though he?s doing major ?Valkyrie? promotion now, Tom?s still finding it hard to focus on the task at hand, and is slipping back into his old habits. Though I will admit the stories are kind of cute.
Watch out, Harvard. She’s not even three years old, but little Suri Cruise is a bona fide brainiac, boasts her proud papa. “Her vocabulary is incredible,” Tom Cruise told PEOPLE Monday night at the New York premiere of Valkyrie.
Still, his favorite words are some of the most simple. “I love hearing ‘I love you, dada,’ or, ‘I love you, mama.’”
While his wife, Katie Holmes is busy starring in Broadway’s All My Sons, the 46-year-old mega movie star is relishing playing Mr. Mom. “I just love every moment,” he gushed. “We’ve got the teenagers and I’ve got the two-and-half year old and to have that I feel lucky.”
In Valkyrie ? his World War II thriller out Christmas Day ? Cruise stars as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg and dons an eye patch over his left eye. But his youngest fan did not approve of the accessory at first.
“Suri would come up to me and take it off,” he said. “So the girls in the makeup trailer got a little teddy bear with a patch on it and gave it to her and so she would play with it. That she would get used to the fact it was on me.”

I can understand how seeing your dad in an eye patch would be rather disconcerting. Especially when it?s there for a few hours at a time, and then he?s back to regular again. I can?t help but wonder how the topic of Suri?s vocabulary came up with People magazine. What question could they possibly have asked that led to that? All I can guess is that Tom somehow found an excuse. At least the eye patch story was relevant to the movie promotion.
Tom also noted that he?d be more than happy if Suri became an actress. ?I would love that,” he said. “Acting, that’s what I love. It’s a great life.” I actually appreciated that comment, because it shows he?s appreciative of what he has. Most actors seem to say they don?t want their kids to go into show business. Which I absolutely understand. But I think the way Tom phrased his answer shows gratitude, which is also nice to hear. Though if Suri does go into acting, she?ll have to stop crying whenever she sees the paparazzi.

The 16-year-old Disney star met her hunky 20-year-old boyfriend in Nashville earlier this year after Justin appeared on country music talent show hosted by Miley?s dad Billy Ray Cyrus. Since then the pair have been spotted hanging out (in a completely non-physical and totally innocent kind of way) on numerous occasions. But the question on everyone?s lips is: is it a genuine relationship? A source close to Justin revealed:
?He?s got more modeling jobs since he?s been with Miley and is telling people they?re writing songs together so her fans will get interested in his music. You start to think he?s in this for fame.?
But apparently, says the source, it?s not a one way thing: ?After her photo leaks, she needed someone discreet and Billy Ray thought this was perfect for her image. They talk up how he is a good Christian like her and he won?t overshadow her like someone like Nick Jonas might.?
Not that we mean to state the obvious, but asking whether Justin Gaston is using his relationship with Miley Cyrus for publicity, is a bit like asking someone whether Dolly Parton sleeps on her back. Of course he is! Or are we just being cynical?

I agree that it seems sort of like a ?duh? question. It never occurred to me that Justin wasn?t using Miley in some way or another. She was 15 when they started dating, and there is a big difference between 15-year-olds and 20-year-olds. Why would he want to be with her if there wasn?t something in it for him? Whether he?s using her for fame or money or just a good story to tell later on in life, I?ve never seen any reason to think Justin cares about Miley. He?s also often been reported flirting with other girls.
What I find creepiest about this article is the thought that Billy Ray Cyrus thought Justin was perfect for Miley ? just because he?s not as famous as her. You?d think any rational father would have a problem with their big age difference. But considering all the complimentary things Billy Ray has said about Justin, clearly he?s daddy-approved. This is just one of those lessons Miley is going to have to learn the hard way.

This seemed to jibe with her wholesome image at the time and given the purity trend it’s not out of the norm for older teen stars to declare they’re virgins. The only thing is that it either wasn’t true or wasn’t information she wanted to reveal at the time. Duff said that isn’t anyone’s business and that she never even said that.

At first I wondered why Duff wouldn’t just deny that she said that at the time, but she probably realized that people would have interpreted as a denial that she was a virgin, and she may have felt that it was best to keep quiet about it. The Elle journalist that made that up should be ashamed. At least they didn’t fabricate an entire interview like Cosmopolitan’s UK version recently did with Scarlett Johansson.
Duff was rumored to be engaged to her longterm boyfriend, New York Islands hockey player Mike Comrie, but neither has confirmed the news and she no longer wears a ring on her left ring finger. She explained in Maxim, “The truth is, I just like to wear rings!”
I’m not a fan of her music by any means but she seems to have handled this maturely and to have realized that the best way to deal with the fake story was to wait and let it sit.

At 12 days old, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were brought to the hospital with staph infections. They were mistakenly given a massive 10,000 units of Heparin, a blood thinner used to flush out IV lines, two separate times. The twins were supposed to be given just 10 units. The packaging for the vials that contain the 10 and 10,000 units of Heparin are hard to tell apart as both are colored in shades of blue and have small writing.
The error was detected at the hospital at 9pm at night, at which point the babies were given blood clotting drugs to counteract the Heparin. No one from the hospital notified the Quaids that their twins were in grave condition until the next day, however.
Three babies were killed in an Indiana hospital from the exact same medical error over a year prior to this incident and yet the manufacturer of the drug, Baxter Healthcare Corp, never changed the packaging of Heparin. Quaid is also suing Baxter for their gross error in failing to change the packaging.
Quaid and his wife Kimberley were on 60 minutes this March to talk about the ordeal they went through almost losing their babies. The twins were were born by a surrogate using his sperm and his wife’s eggs after Kimberly suffered five miscarriages. Quaid came across as both passionate and committed to ensuring that future medical errors are prevented. He has since founded The Quaid Foundation, with a mission to bring awareness to preventable medical errors. Quaid also testified in front of Congress this Spring to urge them not to support a measure by the drug companies that would make them immune from lawsuits.
Many people hear about litigation and roll their eyes, but in my opinion Quaid absolutely did the right thing in this case. If no one sued the drug companies or hospitals for mistakes, how would they be held accountable for them? It’s not a perfect way to address it by any means, but it does provide some kind of check to a very flawed system.
Dennis Quaid’s twins are healthy and thriving at 13 months old. According to the 60 minutes report this Spring, they have passed all medical tests and do not seem to have suffered lasting results from the overdose.

Jennifer Aniston is going to turn 40 in February and with all the press she’s doing for Marley & Me it seems like just about everyone is asking her about it. She recently told Hello Magazine that she’s happy to put that decade behind her and that she went through a lot in her 40s that she’s glad is over. She also talked about her boyfriend, John Mayer, and being impressed by his musical talent. Babies are in her future, she repeats, but says she’s aware how much work children are and what a trade off it is.
On John Mayer’s talent
“I don’t know many musicians. But he’s an extraordinary one. When I see him with his guitar, it’s like that instrument becomes a channel for his whole being. It’s just beautiful to be around, because when he plays, I can really see his brain working. He’s quite wonderful - I really think he’s a rare one.”
On turning 40
“I’m going to be 40 next year, and I’m ready for it. Quite frankly, I felt my 30s were a challenge. You know how some people spend their 20s figuring out who they are? They learn about themselves and clear out a lot of crap from their lives. Well, I’m a late bloomer in some areas, and maybe this was one of them. I was only 25 when Friends started, and I think being famous can stunt your growth in many ways. I was much more panicked about leaving my 20s than I am about leaving my 30s, but there was such a lot going on, from Friends to, well, everything else. So now, when I look back on my 30s, I bow to that time in respect and look forward to moving on.”
On going through tough times
“My endurance level is actually pretty great. Listen, there’s an interesting mix of people in the world. Some are wonderful, but others can disappoint you, and not everybody’s going to be looking out for you. I’ve also learned not to take stuff as personally as I used to. If you can be truthful with who you are and what you’re about, then you have a much easier time walking through the world. I’ve learned to be stronger and also to have more fun.”
On her future plans
“There’s so much I want to do. Travel, for instance, because I’ve never really got to spend much time in any of the places I’ve been to….
“I don’t make goals… You do that, and then you get bummed out if it doesn’t happen.”
On learning about motherhood from friends
“I’ve always wanted this, and it’s still my plan. I know it’s a challenge to raise a child when you have a career. I have a girlfriend who was very successful in her career, and three kids later she had to stop working because something had to give. Now she’s at home looking after those babies while her husband’s out working, and yes, it’s difficult, and she sometimes things she’s losing her mind, but it’s what I want to do.”

It’s kind of refreshing to read an interview with Aniston where she doesn’t mention the unholy Trinity or bring up Angelina in even a veiled way. She talked about going through a hard time in her 30s, but didn’t say much more about it. I have mixed feelings about her because while I ascribed to the “pity party” version of her months ago, she started to grow on me the more she talked to the press. Then she blew it by bringing up the past more than once and sounding like she wasn’t over it at all. She’s a smart woman, and a charming one when she wants to be, and I hope her movie is a success.

Nicole Kidman?s new film Australia, despite sitting comfortably in the box office top ten, is not delivering all the actress might have hoped for. Now it seems that in publicizing her film she?s offended the Aboriginal people of Australia by playing the didgeridoo on German show “Wetten, Das.” Women are not permitted to play the traditional instrument under Aboriginal custom.
Baz Luhrmann’s epic Australia and its star Nicole Kidman have angered Aboriginal groups after the actress tried to play a didgeridoo on a German television show at the weekend.
The light-hearted stunt flouted Aboriginal custom in many parts of Australia, where women are forbidden to play the instrument.
It followed an earlier Australia faux pas when a tourism ad associated with the film promoted a sacred site without Aboriginal permission.
Kidman blew feebly into a didgeridoo during a promotional appearance on Wetten, Dass ??, a high-rating German program known for its high jinks.

I know that Aboriginal culture was taught in schools when I was a child in Australia (it still is), but Nicole is in her 40s, I?m not sure that her education in the 1970s would have focused so much on indigenous culture. She might not have been aware of the fact women should not play didgeridoo ? in fact, not all tribes follow that tradition.
Aboriginal leaders in Australia pointed out that Nicole should have known from her experience on the film Australia, and that she will now have to suffer the consequences. Some Aboriginal people think that playing the instrument makes women infertile, and that Kidman will have the same fate.
Richard Green, an award-winning actor, screenwriter and Dharug language teacher, said he was disgusted.
“People are going to see Nicole playing it and think it’s all right. It bastardises our culture. I will guarantee she has no more children. It’s not meant to be played by women as it will make them barren.”
The didgeridoo, or yirdaki, is said by some to make women infertile, and Mr Green said he feared other women would imitate Kidman without realising its dangers.

So, consider yourself warned if you are hoping for children. Although, I have never heard of this myself, and I wonder if this comment is to hurt Nicole directly, after she recently said she?d like more children. Particularly as Richard says “I will guarantee she has no more children” making it personal.
The idea of playing a musical instrument making you barren is obviously one that western culture would find difficult to grasp, but the Aboriginals of Australia have many cultural stories about how the land was formed, and traditions that explain human behaviour. It really is an interesting culture if you get the chance to learn about it, but difficult to study as all the different tribes living in Australia have their own belief system.
It?s a shame that Nicole?s film has attracted more negative attention ? this was meant to be make or break territory for the actress, who seems to be getting most of the bad press.

The Daily Mail is calling it The Notting Hill Effect, but I’m calling it Hugh Grant Syndrome. Scientist have recently conducted research that proves people who watch romantic comedies are more likely to have unsatisfying love lives due to overblown expectations.
Researchers found that those who watched romantic comedies were more likely to believe in predestined love than those who preferred other genres of movie.
They were also more likely to believe that perfect relationships happen instantly, and were less likely to believe that couples need to work at relationships.
Watching just one romantic comedy is enough to sway people?s attitudes to romantic love, they found.
Dr Bjarne Holmes, who led the research, said: ?We are not being killjoys ? we are not saying that people shouldn?t watch these movies. But we are saying that it would be helpful if people were more aware and more critical of the messages in these films.
?The problem is that while most of us know that the idea of a perfect relationship is unrealistic, some of us are still more influenced by media portrayals than we realise.?

The study maintains that people who watch romantic comedy films are more likely to believe in fate and soulmates, and tend to be more forgiving of cheating by their lovers. Score one for the Hugh Grant Syndrome name being more accurate.
The idea is that they set themselves up for a greater fall if they succumb to the ideals put forth in stories about instant and perfect love, even when they know better. Not only do they expect love to happen quicker, but they expect more from their partners as well. It easily becomes something neither party can live up to.
I think this phenomenom pre-dates Sleepless in Seattle by hundreds of years. Maybe we should blame Hans Christian Anderson, or even the Brothers Grimm. Actually, if you read Song of Solomon in the Bible, it sounds like a script for a present day romantic movie. We have rom-coms and previous eras had fairy tales. The idea of “happily ever after” has been entrenched in our psyches for as long as there have been stories to tell.
So I guess we can’t blame it all on Hugh Grant. I’m still blaming him for my attraction to English accents, though.

One of the people Madoff ripped off is Steven Spielberg. Steven Spielberg?s private philanthropy group, The Wunderkinder Foundation, is said to have lost their entire multi-million dollar investment.
Damage continued to ripple from the massive fraud allegedly engineered by storied Wall Street money manager Bernard Madoff on Monday, even as investigators worked to unravel the scheme’s working and its reach.
While details remained sketchy, the sudden collapse of Madoff’s firm began revealing an impact far beyond the world of the ultra-wealthy and well-connected who were the mainstay of his client base. And the firm’s extensive dealings with charitable foundations and other groups suggest the fraud may take a toll in unexpected places….
The alleged victims who sunk cash into the veteran money manager’s investment pool include real estate magnate Mortimer Zuckerman, and a charity of movie director Steven Spielberg. Irwin Kellner, a well-known economist for MarketWatch.com, filed a lawsuit Friday against Madoff in U.S. District Court in Long Island, seeking repayment of more than $2.2 million he invested with the money manager.

A website called activistcash.com monitored the financial dealing of the The Wunderkinder Foundation, and apparently it?s Spielberg?s ?private? foundation, also going by The Max Charitable Foundation (Max is his son). It seems like a foundation that writes checks to charities doing good work, targeting environmental concerns. There are listed donations to Natural Resources Defense Council, Green Guide Institute and Children?s Health Environmental Coalition.
This Bernard Madoff is a douchebag and I really hope he gets sent to jail for the rest of his life.

The Office?s post-Super Bowl episode just scored the equivalent of a touchdown with a two-point conversion: Jack Black has signed on to guest star in the hour-long episode, sources confirm to me exclusively.
The hitcom?s producers are keeping the specifics of Black?s stint under lock and key, so the only detail I?ve been able to uncover is that the funny man won?t be playing himself.
As previously reported by TV Week, the Feb. 1 episode, which will air immediately following NBC?s Super Bowl telecast, will revolve around the staff of Dunder Mifflin roasting Michael (Steve Carell).

Ryan Phillippe flew into Sydney, Australia on Sunday and was greeted by his ?secret? girlfriend, Abbie Cornish. ?Secret? because they’ve generally kept quiet about their relationship, which isn?t necessarily a bad thing. Abbie is quoted in the November 11 edition of In Touch as saying “I love him very much” about Ryan and mentioning that “We all get along very well” in regards to his children. She spoke to In Touch at a Jay-Z concert on October 15, and those quotes supposedly aren’t second hand or attributed to a source. She also praised Ryan’s cooking skills, saying back then that “Ryan is a really good cook” and would probably prepare Thanksgiving. Other than that neither has mentioned the other that I could find.
Anyhoo, they?re dating and it?s been about two years. Perhaps Abbie?s trying to push the relationship along by inviting Ryan to spend the holidays with her and her family. Maybe Ryan is a decent guy who simply missed his girlfriend and wanted to spend some time with her.

Ryan, who has all-but-admitted to dating Stop-Loss co-star Abbie, flew into the Australian metropolis on Sunday, where she was waiting at the airport for his arrival.
This is believed to be the first time Ryan has been Down Under with his Aussie sweetheart, and a report in the [Sydney] Herald Sun claims that the Flags of Our Fathers star is planning on spending the Christmas holiday with her.

It should also be noted that there?s an on-going ?Abbie Cornish bump watch? in effect. The gossip about is-she or isn?t-she pregnant just won?t die, and this family time will only bring more attention to Cornish and the relationship.
I doubt Reese cares one way or the other about Ryan?s holiday plans, but I really wonder about their custody arrangement with the kids. Do you think that if Reese gets the kids for Christmas this year, he?ll get them next year? Do you think Reese has a problem with letting her kids around Abbie Cornish? She better not, because I see pics of Jake Gyllenhaal with their kids all the time.

I have to admit, I really didn?t like Hayden Panettiere when I first started hearing her name all the time. But now that she?s passed the 18-year-old mark and still hasn?t gone all Lindsay Lohan like everyone thought, she?s growing on me. Especially since she?s done some pretty gutsy things that other celebs just talk about ? like going to Japan and actually paddling out on a surfboard to try to prevent fisherman from killing dolphins. And she didn?t back down after the fact, even when the Japanese issued an arrest warrant against her. While Hayden is very pro-animal, she seems to be into doing good deeds in general. This past weekend she took five sick girls from Children?s Hospital shopping.
Not only does young award-winning Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere spend her light up the small screen on the popular NBC TV show, but she also helps bring smiles to the faces of girls who are in need of a little holiday cheer.
On Dec. 13 the 20-year-old real life hero spent her Saturday morning with five girls who are currently patients at the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles on a Candies shopping spree at Kohl’s in San Gabriel, Calif. The girls were recovering from aneurisms, strokes, paralysis [sic] of the nerves and spine and battling sickle cell anemia. The admirable group was awarded $500 to put together a brand new head-to-toe look just in time for the holiday season.
The stylish star tells OK! that while she did suggest pieces to the girls while shopping, they didn’t seem to need much help!
“Not many of them listened to me!” she admits to OK!.

Hayden is a Candies spokesperson, so this was likely part of her promotion for the brand. It was still a great way to do something nice, and I bet all five of the girls were really excited to meet her. So many celebrities go out of their way to avoid interacting with people or (gasp!) fans. And I understand the desire for privacy, but it?s nice to see a celebrity who?s willing to spend time with her fans, for whatever reason.

There have been all sorts of rumors floating around about the kind of settlement Guy Rithie would get from Madonna. At several points it sounded like he was walking away with hardly a thing ? probably just glad to get away from Madge. But in the end he scored a decent settlement of $76 million to $90 million. That?s including the value of one of their homes that Guy will get to keep, along with their pub.
Madonna has settled her divorce with ex-husband Guy Ritchie by also parting with at least 50 million pounds ($76 million), the singer’s spokeswoman said Monday. Liz Rosenberg told The Associated Press the settlement was in the range of 50 million to 60 million pounds ($76 million to $92 million) as part of their divorce agreement, a figure she said included the value of the couple’s country home, Ashcombe House in western England, which Ritchie will keep.
Rosenberg said the couple’s west London pub ? the Punchbowl ? would also remain with Ritchie. A representative for the British filmmaker declined comment. The couple were reportedly worth some $525 million, the vast majority of which belonged to Madonna. Ritchie had an estimated $35 million fortune.
“I’d assume it’s one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement,” Rosenberg said. U.K.-based entertainment lawyer Ambi Sitham said it made sense for Madonna to divest herself of her British property. “She’s got no interest in remaining here,” Sitham said. “She’s relocating and moving back to New York. It’s money she’s already paid out ? what is she going to do, try to sell the houses in a flagging market?”
Rosenberg said that while the financial component of the settlement had been worked out, custodial arrangements for the couple’s children have yet to be finalized.

I was trying to figure out if $76 million would be worth it for me. It’s an unfathomable amount of money for most of us, and I’d bet the majority of people would be able to deal with a lot of crap for that. But something tells me most of us would also willingly pay $76 million not to be around Madonna after about a month.
Unfortunately I would bet that a significant amount of legal wrangling is still to be had. I doubt Madonna will be willing to give Guy much of what he wants in terms of their sons. However with the news that they?re spending Christmas together as a family, it seems like Madge has finally learned to put someone else ahead of herself ? in this case, two someones. Hopefully she can do the same for their custody arrangement, so that the boys’ schooling won?t be interrupted and they?ll still have plenty of time with their father.
