| Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton in Santa Barbara: surprisingly cute? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the Santa Barbara Film Festival over the weekend. Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams were honored with the Cinema Vanguard Awards for their work in Manchester by the Sea. I always forget about Santa Barbara, but it actually has become an increasingly important stop for Oscar hopefuls. They schedule the film festival so it always falls in the heat of the Oscar race, and the film festival hands out awards to everybody who agrees to show up. Actors, directors and writers get to meet with Oscar voters at their second homes, plus they do a lot of extra press and usually there are panel discussions or ?conversations.?
For this event, Michelle stuck with her Louis Vuitton contract and chose this buttery LV dress with cutouts. While I have loathed so much from LV in the past few years, I don?t hate this at all. The color warms up Michelle and makes her hair look less white-blonde and little-old-lady/Civil-War-ghost. The gown is incredibly flattering to Michelle?s figure too. As for Casey? I don?t think he has that hobo beard for a film, so maybe he should consider trimming it or just shaving it completely??
Meanwhile, what would have been a pleasant stop at a ritzy-but-low-key film festival now has a sudden urgency, doesn?t it? Ever since the SAG Awards two Sundays ago, every professional Oscar predictor/watcher has severely downgraded Casey?s chance at taking home the Best Actor Oscar. Pre-SAGs, Casey had been a sure thing, despite a quiet but concerted effort to talk more about how he allegedly sexually harassed two women. Everyone thought Casey was a lock. But then Denzel Washington won the SAG for Fences and now everyone is like ?it?s anyone?s game!? Will Denzel take home another Oscar? Will people feel like it?s not Casey?s ?time? right now? Will Ryan Gosling suddenly start campaigning?? Basically, Casey is being told to get out there more, to be seen, to campaign. Which is why he seemed to be making an effort in Santa Barbara.

| Jessica Alba on what she misses before kids: 'sleeping in and not worrying' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Being a mom is part of Jessica Alba?s brand, given she formed the successful The Honest Company that markets to families. Given that, I think she?s struck a good balance of trotting the kids out for friendly pap pics and not over exposing them. As you can imagine, most of the questions Jessica fields these days are about parenting. So when I opened the People article about Jessica not thinking she was the perfect mom, I didn?t expect it to strike such a nerve. Jessica touched on a few things that have been so prominent in my mind this past week but mainly, how I am doing as a mom.
What do you miss most about your life before motherhood?
“Sleeping in, and not worrying. I’m always worried about them. Even when they’re at school or they’re at home sleeping and we’re all in the house together, I’m still always worried about them!”
What is your best quality as a parent?
“Being open and curious. Trying to always better myself. I don?t try to pretend like I have all the answers and I certainly don?t think I?m perfect. So when my kids say something, instead of me being so reactive, I think about how I can be better.”
What is your worst quality as a parent?
“Sometimes my mind is in too many different places and I?m not always in the moment.?
What are you like as a parent? Are you strict or easygoing?
“I?m probably on the stricter side of lenient. But I think boundaries are good for kids ? and structure. I find that my kids thrive when they know where the boundaries are and the comfort zone and where they can be creative and play.
“It’s having enough sleep, it’s having proper nutrition that really helps that. And having enough activity.
[From People, print edition and online]
I think most parents see themselves as stricter rather than lenient. I?m not saying Jessica isn?t a stricter parent, I?m just saying I have never heard a friend say they were a lenient parent no matter how many times they?ve had to pull their kid off of the bookshelf.
What really got to me when reading this were Jessica?s answers about worrying about her kids and not being in the moment. The worrying thing is the part I was most unprepared for when I became a parent. And it’s not just life-threatening stuff either – I worry about every aspect of their lives, almost obsessively. And when I stop worrying for a moment, they?ll tell me something that?s happened to them and I think, why the hell didn?t I see that coming? Then I worry that I am not worrying enough. It?s exhausting. It?s been glaringly true recently. Like many of you, I wasn’t happy with the outcome of the election and it has dominated my thoughts. I’m trying to stay aware and active. Last week, each kid came to me on separate days with stories that broke my heart. They needed me and I hadn?t been there in any sense. So I hear Jessica on that. It sounds silly, like why do moms get so wrapped up in their kids? Because you told these little people you would look out for them and when you don’t, it is not you who suffers. It does help, however, to know that people like Jessica feel the same way.
On a superficial note, Jessica said in the video with People that she calls Haven “Havey.” I think that’s really cute.

| Hilary Duff: 'My legs are strong and they carry me every single day' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hilary Duff has some kind of paid Instagram deal with Aerie, which is a lingerie brand cashing in on the body positive movement. I have no shade for that, it’s good business sense and it’s also smart for brands to use celebrities and social media stars to promote their products. Hilary is a paparazzi target for some unknown reason, probably habit and the fact that it’s easy to cover her when we need filler stories (hi!). While running her pics, some of the men’s sites fawn over her for being cute/sexy and others call her “thick” for being strong basically. She has a kickass figure and if that’s thick sign me up. In fact I like to see her sometimes (most of the time I ignore her frankly) because she really owns her strong body. This is one of those times.
Here’s the Instagram Hilary posted for Aerie.
I didn't always love my legs, but as I've grown, I've learned to love and celebrate myself, just as I am. I began to realize that my legs are STRONG and they carry me every. single. day. Our bodies are amazing and something to be grateful for. I'm ME and that's really enough! Thanks for helping to spread the self love message @Aerie! Make sure to share your own message about why U love U for U Day! #AerieREAL #AeriePartner

| Nicole Kidman in beaded Marchesa at the DGA Awards: boring or beautiful? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from this weekend?s Directors Guild Awards, held on Saturday night in LA. As everyone says, the guild awards are often the best indicators of where the Oscar races stand, so I?m pretty disappointed that Damien Chazelle won the top DGA Award for La La Land. He won over Barry Jenkins for Moonlight. Ugh. Why does Hollywood love La La Land so much??? Anyway, you can read more about the awards here.
Nicole Kidman is back to her Miss Havisham styles in this antique-looking Marchesa dress. Seriously, what happened to Nicole? It wasn?t that long ago when she was always the best-dressed woman on any red carpet. I know she loves fashion, so why is she so wacky these days? While this Marchesa isn?t the worst, let?s be clear: Nicole Kidman deserves better.
Laverne Cox in Thai Nguyen Atelier. So glam! She was having fun with this dress and she really stood out in this deep green.
Kerry Washington in Sally LaPointe. Sexy dress but bad hair. I really liked the straight, glossy look she had at the SAGs and I kind of wish she would stick to that for a while.
Amy Adams in what looks like a dress for a summer picnic. I guess Amy was like, ?I don?t have to get glam anymore, it?s not like I was nominated for an Oscar.? It?s not that this is bad per se, but it just doesn?t seem like she was dressed for the same event as everyone else?
Helen Mirren in what looks like a really comfy sweater and cute skirt. This is what I would wear to an event like this. Just like, ?F–k it, I?m going to wear a sweater.?
There are no full-length photos of Emma Stone in this sparkly Louis Vuitton dress, mostly because she didn?t walk the carpet, she was only there for Damien. She probably didn?t walk the carpet because she believes (correctly) that she pretty much has Best Actress in the bag. Anyway, I like this dress and I wish we could have seen more of it.
