Kim Kardashian is, I suspect, a purse person. I actually don?t think she?s into shoes as much as most fashionistas are Kim seems happy enough to wear whatever clear plastic BS Kanye West designs on her feet. But Kim cares about purses. She loves her purses. She spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on her purses every year, I?m sure. So what?s the latest must-have purse for a Purse Obsessive like Kim? The $35,000 Dior saddle bag, of which only ten were produced. TEN. So ridiculous. But sure, a wearable collector?s item, and Kim wore hers for a pap stroll around LA, as she ran errands in Yeezys.

| Denise Richards went gluten free after fans told her she had a thyroid problem | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I know the title sounds sketchy, but thats the gist of this whole story. Denise Richards was at the RHOBH reunion looking like she had a goiter, or enlarged thyroid, which can be a non-specific indicator of a thyroid problem. You can see a photo of that on Peoples site, its really obvious-looking. Fans pointed it out to her and so she went on a gluten free diet because, she claims, gluten is toxic. This helped her thyroid improve or something. She wrote all of this to accompany the photo below this story, which she posted to Instagram.
It?s amazing to me in a short time eliminating gluten from my diet how much my thyroid has changed. A few of you pointed out after the #RHOBH reunion that my thyroid was enlarged. You were right, it was something I ignored until pointed out. I had no idea how much our diet really can affect our body and for me how toxic gluten really is I thank all of you who sent me messages. #selfcare
Theres no news as to whether she went to a doctor and got her thyroid tested. To be fair, its possible she went to an endocrinologist and doesnt want to give specifics. I know that thyroid tests arent always accurate depending on which ones youre taking (Im not going to get into specifics, but this article has more ). There isnt a lot of science I could find that links gluten intolerance or celiac disease with thyroid problems, but there is at least one study that found a gluten free diet improved thyroid function. They are both autoimmune conditions which can overlap. I do think people go gluten free unnecessarily, but it doesnt hurt to try different elimination diets when youre having health problems. If this helped Denise to reduce her hyperthyroidism, good for her.
Denise is also in some kind of feud with Camille Grammer, whom Denise claims said racist stuff during a RHOBH taping which was never aired or specified. Camille was reportedly confronted about it by Andy Cohen during the reunion, also in a segment that didnt make it to air. Camille supposedly said, do you want me feel sorry about it because Im a white woman? YES. Thats how racism works asshole. Andy likely decided not to fire Camille and thats why they her remarks werent on the show. I wish producers and showrunners would stop protecting racists. Also, from what I can find RHOBH hasnt had a non-white cast member.

| Gwyneth Paltrow: 'You think I would pretend to write cookbooks if I didn't cook?' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Years ago, I remember reading and covering an article about an event Gwyneth Paltrow hosted in support of either her first or second cookbook. It was probably her first, because she went all-out and managed to get all of her famous friends (are there any other kind?) to come out for a special dinner in support of the cookbook. The dinner was for about 70 people, and there were several headlines: one, Chris Martin was being a sucky baby and he didn?t want to be there to support his wife. Two, Jessica Seinfeld was always THE WORST. Three, they really tried to convince people that Gwyneth ?cooked? for 70 people. That irritates me. It?s one thing for Gwyneth to claim that she alone ?invents? all of these recipes (she does not) all by herself, but it?s another to try to promote this image of Gwyneth as so capable, she can just pull together a dinner for 70 all by herself, just cooking away in her humble kitchen.
All of which to say, I believe Gwyneth cooks. I believe that she goes to her kitchen and makes meals for herself and her children. I believe she experiments and tries out recipes and she enjoys all of that. But I also believe she has a team of people helping her write her cookbooks and, obviously, doing the bulk of the cooking and baking for which Gwyneth takes credit. So with that in mind, Gwyneth did an Instagram Live Q&A session and someone asked her ?Do you actually cook?? Gwyneth?s response: ?Do I actually cook? Yes, I f?king cook! Goddamnit. You think I would write ? you think I would pretend to write cookbooks if I didn?t cook? F?k that person!? The NSFW-for-language

| Page Six: There's a rumor about Lindsay Lohan & Mohammad bin Salman | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Mohammad bin Salman is the crown prince of the House of Saud, meaning one day, he?ll be king of Saudi Arabia. Most likely, although Saudi Arabia doesn?t actually follow the traditional ?first-born son of the king? thing. The current king chooses his favorite (maybe a brother, maybe a son or nephew) and makes that guy the crown prince. Mohammad bin Salman?s position as crown prince is notable because of his age he?s only 33 years old, but clearly, his family thinks he has a lot of potential. What else? MBS has a wife. MBS is also a killer, having ordered the assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. And now we have a new title for MBS: possible sugar daddy to Lindsay Lohan. This clearly came from Lindsay?s people and I can?t stop gasp-laughing.
What the heck is going on with Lindsay Lohan and Mohammad bin Salman? A wild rumor hit town that Lohan and the bloodthirsty crown prince of Saudi Arabia have gotten close, and that he?s been flying her around in his jets and showering her with presents ? including a gift-wrapped credit card. And when we started asking around, a source in her inner circle acknowledged that they ?know each other.?
Now a rep for Lohan tells us that the pair met just once ? around a year ago at a Formula One Grand Prix race. The rep also denied that bin Salman ? who has been accused of ordering the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi ? gave Lohan a credit card. Either way, pals of Lohan ? who even say they?ve seen text exchanges between the pair ? are boasting about what they claim is a new friendship. The rep called those claims ?lies.?
While the ?Herbie: Fully Loaded? star and the vicious authoritarian would seem to make for an unlikely twosome, sources close to Lohan, who has been partly based in nearby Dubai for the past couple of years, told Page Six that it?s not unusual for the ?Rumors? singer to be courted by Middle Eastern dignitaries. ?They go crazy for her out there,? exclaimed one insider.
[From Page Six]
I mean? I?ve been trying to work out what to say about this without offending anyone and without taking it too seriously. I mean, it?s so fking random, there has to be *some* explanation for it. My theory is that Lindsay really did meet a Saudi guy and he was trying to impress her and he was like ?yes, I?m rich, I?m the crown prince of Saudi Arabia,? and she believed it even though he was just some guy. The only part of this that I really believe is that Lindsay is popular in the Middle East. I?m not saying she?s got a long list of dignitary boyfriends/johns, but I think she has enough interest from a handful of wealthy guys and? that?s how she supports herself.

| Olivia Newton-John on battling stage four cancer: 'Every day is a gift now' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Two years ago we learned that Olivia Newton-John?s cancer had come back. She?s been actively fighting it since and is committed to serving cancer sufferers through her Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Center. She?s been honest about seeking both traditional and holistic treatments for her stage four cancer as well as how much she?s relied on medical marijuana for pain and anxiety relief. Olivia is back in the news after she sat down with Liz Hayes of 60 Minutes to assure the world that although the cancer and treatments have taken their toll, she is ?living with? cancer and not ?at death?s door,? as had been rumored earlier this year.
Olivia Newton-John has opened up about her health challenges and why shes taken a step back from the spotlight as she lives with stage four cancer.
In an exclusive interview with 60 Minutes reporter Liz Hayes, Newton-John spoke candidly about taking time for herself at her home in the hills of Santa Barbara, California.
Im so lucky that Ive been through this three times and Im still here. Im living with it, Newton-John told Liz Hayes.
Every day is a gift now, particularly now.
After rumours of her ill health began circulating earlier this year on gossip and news sites, Newton-John was forced to set the record straight ? posting a video to her social media accounts to refute the claims she was at deaths door.
Newton-John reveals she looks at death as a long way away.
When youre given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit, she said.
If you believe the statistics, youre going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, you have six months to live, very possibly you will because you believe that.
[From 9 News]
Olivia?s mentioned the part about a person?s thoughts manifesting into reality before and I?ve agree to some degree. At the very least, a person who believes they will live longer than expected will live fully and not spend them waiting to die, so it?s also a quality of life thing, too. Since Olivia looks at every day she?s here as a gift, I?m sure she?s getting the most out of each of them. And, as I mentioned above, with her work on cancer treatment and pain management, she is making sure others can do the same.
Unfortunately, someone who may not be handling Olivia?s health very well is her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, who was also interviewed for the 60 Minutes segment. Chloe admitted she was both angry and in denial when her mom got her last diagnosis. She also said she and her mother don?t talk about the cancer, unless Olivia brings it up. I wonder who this is for? Does Chloe not bring it up thinking she?s respecting her mom?s feelings or does Olivia avoid talking about it because Chloe might not be handling it so well? I worry about Chloe in general. Sometimes it seems like her mom is the only solid thing in her life and if she loses her, I really hope Chloe finds a tether somewhere else. Maybe Olivia?s husband, John Easterling. He sounds like the support for the family. However, Olivia is still alive and by her own words, living with her cancer. I agree each day is a gift and I hope Olivia is gifted with many, many more.

| Angelina Jolie addresses the American border crisis in a Time Mag column | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Angelina Jolie has written another column for Time Magazine in her role as ?Time contributing editor.? Jolie is obviously very focused on refugee crises, migrant issues, and humanitarian concerns. This week, she puts her focus on the American ?border crisis,? which in my opinion is a self-fulfilling crisis made by the Trump administration eager to demonize brown people. I wish Angelina?s column had been the sentence ?Stop Putting Babies In Cages? all down the page, but no she makes an intellectual argument for the myriad problems we need to solve, or help to solve. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
She?s appalled by the babies in cages too: We Americans have been confronted by devastating images from our southern border and increasingly polarized views on how to address this untenable situation. At times I wonder if we are retreating from the ideal of America as a country founded by and for brave, bold, freedom-seeking rebels, and becoming instead inward-looking and fearful. I suspect many of us will refuse to retreat. We grew up in this beautiful, free country, in all its diversity. We know nothing good ever came of fear, and that our own history ? including the shameful mistreatment of Native Americans ? should incline us to humility and respect when considering the question of migration.
America is experiencing what other nations have been experiencing for years: We in America are starting to experience on our borders some of the pressures other nations have faced for years: countries like Turkey, Uganda and Sudan, which host 6 million refugees between them. Or Lebanon, where every sixth person is a refugee. Or Colombia, which is hosting over 1 million Venezuelans in a country slightly less than twice the size of Texas. There are lessons ? and warnings ? we can derive from the global refugee situation.
Addressing the causes of refugee crises: Countries producing the migration or refugee flow have the greatest responsibility to take measures to protect their citizens and address the insecurity, corruption and violence causing people to flee. But assisting them with that task is in our interest. Former senior military figures urge the restoration of U.S. aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, arguing that helping to build the rule of law, respect for human rights and stability is the only way to create alternatives to migration. The UN Refugee Agency is calling for an urgent summit of governments in the Americas to address the displacement crisis. These seem logical, overdue steps. Our development assistance to other countries is not a bargaining chip, it is an investment in our long-term security. Showing leadership and working with other countries is a measure of strength, not a sign of weakness.
Stop putting babies in cages: We have a vital interest in upholding international laws and standards on asylum and protection. It is troubling to see our country backing away from these, while expecting other countries, who are hosting millions of refugees and asylum seekers, to adhere to a stricter code. If we go down this path, we risk a race to the bottom and far greater chaos. An international rules-based system brings order. Breaking international standards only encourages more rule-breaking.
[From Time]
She goes on to say that America also needs to change the way immigration courts work, to make the courts more independent and better-functioning, to decrease the backlog of cases and to encourage more lawyers to work pro bono with immigrants, including the ?65% of children in the U.S. immigration system [who] still face court without an attorney.? I mean, she?s incredibly thoughtful and controlled about the way she writes, and I can imagine her saying to herself ?getting emotional and enraged won?t help.? The truth is, she?s not really trying to convince Trump or the Deplorables about anything I suspect she knows they?re a lost cause. But she?s appealing to people of conscience elsewhere in the government, from the State Department to the Pentagon to DoJ. I just doubt there are many people of conscience left.

| Geena Davis: 'We are teaching kids to have unconscious gender bias' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|

|
|
I?ve loved Geena Davis since I first saw her in Beetlejuice and A League of Their Own. (I wasn?t old enough to watch Thelma and Louise when it was released.) As much as I?ve loved Geena?s films, I?ve also been impressed with the work that Geena has done off-screen: In 2004, she founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which researches and works to change and make changes on gender bias on screen. On Monday, Geena was on TODAY promoting the documentary This Changes Everything, which addresses gender inequity in Hollywood:
On women?s portrayal on film
Images have an incredibly powerful impact, especially on careers. There?s something called the CSI effect. So many women are going into forensic science because of those shows.
On if Thelma and Louise was a turning point
It really changed my life. Nobody realized what a nerve it was going to strike. It showed me how few opportunities we give women to come out of a movie feeling empowered and excited.
On her new documentary and how men have to be on our side
How are we going to solve this problem if we ask the underrepresented to solve this problem themselves? It?s not going to work, we need to work together.
How this became meaningful to her [she?s about to get a humanitarian Oscar]
It started when my daughter was little and I noticed how few female characters there were in [shows] for kids. I realized we are teaching kids from the very beginning to have unconscious gender bias if we show that boys and men are more important, they take up more space. Why would we do that in the 21st century?
[From The Today Show]
Geena is ridiculously smart and talented and I?m so glad that she?s doing this work; I?m angry that it?s even necessary, but here we are. I was reminded of this infographic from the New York Film Academy about gender inequity in the movies, updated in 2018. In 900 top films produced from 2007?2016, just 30.5% of speaking characters were women. In almost 1,000 films examined in 2017 by AI, men had over 37,000 dialogues; women had a bit more than 15,000. The study found that in the majority of films, female roles are not central to the plot.? I?ll note here the obvious problem of framing all of these statistics as though only two genders and sexes exist, though the issue that gender inequity is a glaring problem in Hollywood comes through loud and clear. This Changes Everything premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, and will be released in theaters and on-demand on Friday, August 9.
