Traditionally, Vanity Fair releases their annual ?Hollywood Issue? during the heat of the awards season, usually the February or March issue. But the award season has been all of out of whack for years now, and releasing the Hollywood Issue so late into the season decreased the issue?s cultural relevance. So what do you know, VF pushed it up so now we?re getting the Hollywood Issue just as the Oscar-bait films are being released. This year?s issue features a who?s who of almost exclusively ?on the come up? stars. The one exception is Nicole Kidman! The rest of the cover stars: Zendaya, Glen Powell, Zoe Saldaa, Dev Patel, Sydney Sweeney, Josh O?Connor, Danielle Deadwyler, Jonathan Bailey, Lisa, Ncuti Gatwa, and Bill Skarsgrd. Okay, I would argue that Dev and Zendaya have been around for years and are already established stars. But the rest of them? It?s a pretty good cross-section of the next ten years in film and television.
So, thoughts? As I said, I think it?s an excellent cross-section. I don?t even mind Nicole?s inclusion while she?s a different generation than everyone else, Nicole works like crazy and she?s a Hollywood-godmother figure to a lot of younger actors. I love that Dev Patel was included in the first cover panel (the most important panel!) and I love that both Jonathan Bailey and Josh O?Connor were included too. I?m not even mad at the styling everyone looks great. I wish Josh wasn?t wearing those Robert Evans glasses, and that?s about my only nitpick.
We?ll cover some of the interviews separately, but I have to say, VF did a good job this year. Dev has never had a bad hair day in his life, right?
Dev Patel can do it all.
For #VFHollywood, he discusses making ?Monkey Man? for his younger self, the decade it took to get the film made, and the lasting reverence of ?Skins.?

| Nicole Kidman in black and white Balenciaga at the Met Gala: cool tribute to fashion? | Added 194 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidmans black and white Balenciaga gown didnt seem on theme to me when I first saw it, but she said it was a tribute to the Sleeping Beauties theme in that it was a remake of a 1951 Balenciaga gown she saw in a photo, recreated by their current creative director, Demna. (The Met Gala exhibit contains so many fragile and archival gowns that were reawakened for display.) In that respect its an incredible gown and who wouldnt want to wear this? Imagine seeing a gorgeous 70-year-old gown and asking for it to be remade for you. Nicole was clearly enjoying the drama of it all too! Queen.
Fellow fashion goddess Isabelle Huppert was in cream satin Balenciaga that had a long flowing train. She looked so gorgeous and regal. Look at the details on this gown, it looks like a separate top and skirt. Her face says she doesnt want to be there though. I get it. I would be tired after all that.

| Nicole Kidman on winning her Oscar: 'I went to bed alone; I was in bed before midnight' | Added 293 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

No one really had a divorce/comeback storyline like Nicole Kidman, before or since. Those of us old farts who watched it unfold in real time were in awe. She went from one half of THE Hollywood A-list couple to a woman divorcing her Scientologist husband, all while dealing with a miscarriage and (basically) being forced to leave her two kids in Scientology so she could escape. Then Nicole rewrote her own narrative, doing a string of acclaimed and award-winning films and showing up to every red carpet looking like a million bucks. Moulin Rouge, The Others, The Hours, Cold Mountain, Dogville, all released within a three-year period, with Nicole getting back-to-back Best Actress Oscar nominations in 2002 and 2003. She ended up winning in 2003 for The Hours. While she was riding a professional high during that tumultuous period, she was mostly single and trying to figure out what was next for her romantically. That is the focus of Nicole?s version of her 2003 Oscar-winning night. Kidman spoke to Dave Karger for his new book, 50 Oscar Nights, about what she felt and did on that night.
As Nicole Kidman?s career reached one of its highest peaks, the actress was experiencing one of her most personal lows. The star, 56, won her first Oscar in 2003 for playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours, just a year after her first nomination for Moulin Rouge!. But behind her bright smile and glamorous Jean-Paul Gaultier gown hid a private struggle; Kidman had recently finalized her divorce from Tom Cruise after 11 years of marriage.
?I was struggling with things in my personal life, yet my professional life was going so well,? she told author Dave Karger in his new book 50 Oscar Nights (on sale Jan. 23). ? That?s what happens, right??
On stage, Kidman briefly broke down before composing herself (?Russell Crowe said don?t cry when you get up there and now I?m crying?), and was played off before she was able to finish her speech. Afterwards, she felt the urge to go home.
?I?m not a big party girl, so I was going to skip the Vanity Fair party, and everyone was like, ?You?ve got to go. You?ve got to walk through the party carrying your Academy Award,? she recalls in the book. I said, ?That just feels like gloating, and it doesn?t feel humble.? Like, what? You can?t walk through carrying the award! That feels really inappropriate. They?re like, ?That?s what you do.?
Ultimately, she did go to the storied bash, at least for a little while, with her engraved Oscar in hand: ?So I literally walked in, carried it around, was completely overwhelmed, emotional, shaking, and I didn?t enjoy it. I was almost apologetic, which is so stupid. I wish I could have enjoyed it more,? she says. Afterwards, in the quiet of her hotel room, Kidman was confronted with the urge to find love again.
?I went home and ended up ordering takeout and eating it on the floor of the Beverly Hills Hotel, she says. I sat on the floor of the hotel eating French fries and a burger with my family and went to bed. That?s when it hit me. I went, I need to find my love; I need a love in my life. Because this is supposed to be when you go, ?This is ours.??
The Oscar evening ended with a whimper. ?I went to bed alone; I was in bed before midnight. If I ever won again, I?m telling you, I?d be out for 24 hours.?
[From People]
I get it she was still in the middle of that crazy ride which started when Tom Cruise filed for divorce. She barely had time to think, she was working on back-to-back projects and she had a moment of taking-stock on Oscar night. Something I hate is this idea that a single woman can?t or shouldn?t be proud of her achievements, or that an Oscar means nothing unless Nicole had a boyfriend or husband to validate her and her award. But I also think it?s more complicated than that in Nicole?s case.

At last night?s Met Gala, Nicole Kidman was one of several old-school fashionistas to choose a vintage Chanel look from their own archives. Nicole?s Chanel gown was something she wore when she represented Chanel No. 5, it was a custom gown designed for her by Lagerfeld years ago. That?s really cool, and the dress itself is lovely. What I hated was Nicole?s stringy, limp, unwashed-looking hair. Blech.
Billie Eilish wore Simone Rocha. I liked this? It was fine. Well-constructed, interesting, on-brand for Billie.

Nicole Kidman only attended the Oscars as a presenter she wasn?t in any of the nominated films or anything. I enjoy ?presenter Nicole? she comes out to have fun, and if you told me she took an edible or had a few shots before the Oscars carpet, I would believe you. Nicole wore Armani this dress grew on me throughout the night and I ended up really liking it.

| Nicole Kidman wore Balenciaga for Paris Fashion Week: wacky, tragic or cool? | Added 864 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman is in Paris this week for fashion week. It looks like she was requested specifically by Balenciaga, which is pretty interesting to me. While Nicole has a fascinating history as a fashionista, she?s never been particularly aligned to Balenciaga in particular. I would even argue that she?s more closely aligned in fashion history to Dior, Gucci and Tom Ford (specifically Tom Ford-for-Gucci). Anyway, here are some photos of Nicole arriving to the Balenciaga Fall/winter ?22-23 show in Paris today. That skirt? that pussybow blouse? I don?t know, y?all. Like, if the skirt looked less stiff, I would actually like it. The blouse is just a huge NO though. I feel like Balenciaga is trying to do ?updated ?80s secretary with unexpected materials.?
On Tuesday, Nicole also stopped by the Balenciaga atelier in Paris, likely for the fitting of the ensemble she wore today (which didn?t work because she?s swimming in that black ensemble). She exited the atelier in a Balenciaga ensemble these tragique jeans, a black leotard and the Balenciaga wrap-around sunglasses. I love that Nicole is trying out those sunglasses. They actually look kind of cool on her.
Can we talk about the jeans? My God. I don?t mind that baggy jeans are coming back, mostly because the skinny jean trend needs to fking die already. I will be sitting right here when the bootleg jean trend comes back too, idgaf. But these jeans are so bad. I think it?s the wash which offends me the most? If these were a darker wash, I might consider these.

| Nicole Kidman wore the worst Prada dress ever to 'The Northman' premiere | Added 942 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s premiere of The Northman in Los Angeles. The three stars of the film were all in attendance: Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor-Joy. Ethan Hawke didn?t make it, and I would assume he?s not contractually obligated to do much promotion for this (his role is reportedly pretty small). Alex looked okay. But his night was totally overshadowed by his lady costars.
First off, Nicole Kidman?s style has left the building. I would argue that her style left the building a decade ago, but she?s arguably had a few appearances here and there where I?ve thought ?oh, there?s the old fashionista!? No more. Nicole just picks the worst fking things these days. Her stylist is passive-aggressive as hell. This monstrously bad dress is from Prada. Every single thing is bad. There is no silver lining to this look at all. The color sucks, the black collar is stupid, the feathers are hilariously terrible. (even the earrings are bad, they?re just completely random next to this dress)
Anya?s look is Dior, because everything she wears is Dior. I?m not entirely sure if her stiff collar is detachable or if it was originally supposed to be part of the dress, but it?s a weird look for her. I don?t find it particularly flattering, but I hesitate to say anything is ?unflattering? on Anya. She could wear a paper sack and look chic. But lord, that collar is dumb.

| Nicole Kidman thinks it's 'sexist' that she's still asked about Tom Cruise | Added 1018 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Watching Being the Ricardos, I felt sorry for Nicole Kidman. Yes, it was her responsibility to say ?no? to that part, but I understood why she said yes to it a script by Aaron Sorkin and the belief that playing Lucille Ball would be a great role for her. But holy sh-t, Sorkin did her no favors with the script or the direction. The hair and makeup people did her dirty too. The film is an utter embarrassment at every level, and it?s a terrible reflection of Kidman?s substantial talent. She just never should have been part of it. But here we are, still reading interviews from Kidman and Javier Bardem as they try to put a bow on this mess. Some highlights from Kidman?s interview in the Guardian:
On Being the Ricardos: ?It?s about a creative and romantic relationship that doesn?t work out. But from it come some extraordinary things. And I love that. I love that it?s not a happy ending. This film says you can make an extraordinary relationship thrive and leave remnants of it that exist forever. Yeah, that?s really gorgeous. You can?t make people behave how you want them to, and sometimes you?re going to fall in love with someone who isn?t going to be the person you spend the rest of your life with. And I think that?s all very relatable. You may have kids with them. You may not, but they were very much in love.?
Whether all of that ^^ was about Tom Cruise: ?Oh, my God, no, no. Absolutely not. No. I mean, that?s, honestly, so long ago that that isn?t in this equation. So no.? She is angry. ?And I would ask not to be pigeonholed that way, either. It feels to me almost sexist, because I?m not sure anyone would say that to a man. And at some point, you go, ?Give me my life. In its own right.??
She retired after having Sunday Rose: ?[I decided to] have my baby and sit on a farm. Until my mum said to me, ?I don?t think you should just give up.? I was quite convinced I could grow vegetables and be at home and be very satisfied with that, but was pushed quite substantially by my mum. Friends, too ? I have friendships that have permeated my life? Those relationships are relevant. They?re the threads that pull you through, when people show up and go, ?I know you and I believe in you?, and push you forward. Not always coming from a sense of confidence, like I know what I?m doing. Not at all. A lot of times I?m relying heavily on the people around to say, ?You?ve got more in you.??
She?s surprised by how much success she?s had in television: ?I would never have thought television would be an avenue for growth for me. Television gives you a much stronger connection with an audience, because you?re in their homes. I had a far deeper response than I?d ever had, which just suddenly came hurtling towards me??
She cries a lot: ?But yeah, I cry. I try to keep a lid on that, but everything is deeply sad. There?s a huge melancholia, right? I mean, when you really study melancholy people, we?re very present. I have an enormous amount of that. I think a lot of people walk around with it too, don?t you??
Whether she?s a movie star. ?That term confuses me. Can you define it? It?s too cerebral for me. I can only go to what Stanley Kubrick would say to me, which was, ?Nicole, you?re a character actress.? Usually, I?m resistant to labels. There?s a new generation now, saying, ?No, you don?t get to define me just this way.? I?m hugely supportive of this. And you can also change. I love that.?
[From The Guardian]
I?ve seen the headlines about how Kidman ?clapped back? on the journalist from bringing up Tom Cruise? but it did honestly feel like Kidman was making a not-so-oblique reference to Cruise. Not only that, I think what she said about falling in love with someone knowing that it won?t be forever probably resonated with a lot of people who are in their second or third marriages, you know? Anyway, I like her TV work, and I think the format of episodic television suits her very well in this stage of her career. I would be very happy if she spent the next decade doing cool miniseries where she played mysterious rich bitches with secrets. That is her wheelhouse!! (Lucille Ball was not her wheelhouse).

| Nicole Kidman in Armani at the LA 'Ricardos' premiere: icy & frozen' | Added 1075 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last week was the first screening/premiere for Being the Ricardos, Aaron Sorkin?s take on the real Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Apparently, the ?real story? is that Desi and Lucy looked nothing like that in real life! These are photos from last night?s LA premiere, which seemed a lot bigger than the NYC premiere. Bigger and yet? more sparsely attended? It?s almost as if no one wants to see this movie, weird.
Nicole decided to go for a princess gown this is Armani Prive, in an icy, pale blue. This partly reminds me of those years when Nicole was legitimately a fashionista, and someone who liked to make big, dramatic red carpet appearances. Somewhere along the line, she just didn?t care as much though. It?s nice to see that she?ll still pull out some big look every now and then. My big issue here is that I think the makeup is wrong? That red lip is bad for the rest of the look.
I?ve called this film cursed several times and people have yelled at me because apparently people attending early screenings have enjoyed the film, and Nicole is still on a lot of people?s Oscar short-lists for the Best Actress Oscar. Both things can be true: Nicole might get an Oscar nomination, and the film looks like a fking messy, cheap joke. One doesn?t preclude the other.
Javier Bardem recently spoke to the Today Show about his reaction to seeing Nicole in her Lucy drag for the first time: I was doing my test with wardrobe, the hair, the makeup, and then she came in and there was a silence. They really nailed the look of Lucy Ricardo, no? And I felt, Well, here is my wife. Hi. This is your husband. Whether you like it or not, this is your husband.?? LOL, I wonder if the silence was because SHE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE LUCY.

Here are some photos from Thursday night?s premiere of Being the Ricardos, one of the most cursed films of the year. Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are trying to muster up some chemistry for the cameras, which is funny because I tend to believe that Javier can have chemistry with anyone or anything. He could have chemistry with a lamppost. He could have sexual energy with a plant. If anything, I believe that his Spanish-accented take on Desi Arnaz will be accepted by audiences because Javier will coast on his own charisma. All of the negative energy is going towards Nicole as Lucille Ball.
As for fashion, Nicole wore Chanel. It?s not the best thing she?s worn but it?s far from the worst. RCFP posted the dress as it appeared on the runway, and I think Chanel actually improved it for Nicole. It was way too drapey and art-project-y on the runway. I mean, it?s still an ugly dress. But Nicole wore it better. Nicole is famous for being a fashion icon, and she?s someone who knows how to harness the power of fashion to help sell her projects. So doesn?t it feel like she?s already phoning this one in?
I?m reminded of how hard Nicole sells the projects she produces and puts together, like Big Little Lies. On Ricardos, Nicole was an actress for hire, and she?s indicated in interviews that she basically said yes to the project because she liked Aaron Sorkin?s script. It didn?t really occur to her that she was about to play one of the most iconic redheads in modern history, and that she might need to do some research and work into sounding and looking like Lucille Ball. On a recent TV appearance, Nicole said she wasn?t ?initially? anxious when she took the role but ?When the reality of playing her hit me, I went, What I have said yes to? To which I then went, Oh no, Im not right. Everyone thinks Im not right, so Im going to try to sidestep this.' Then Aaron Sorkin convinced her to stay on. Ugh. Nicole is giving us someone to blame when this mess blows up in her face.
The character posters are terrible too!! Why does everything about this cursed film look so low-budget?
