It is such a joy to see Nicole Kidman at this moment in her career. She makes gutsy choices in projects, and she?s on a mission to champion emerging filmmakers, especially women. Having been a fan since way back, it?s particularly gratifying to see Nicole completely out of the shadow ? and power vacuum ? of Tom Cruise. Even when she won her Oscar in 2003, and she was working as much as she is now, you could tell that she was still sad. But now she just seems like she?s having a ball, she?s worked with almost everyone in Hollywood, and she?s happy to accept her flowers. She?s also happy to give her flowers, as she just told People Mag. Nicole was doing promotion alongside costars Matthew Macfadyen and Gael Garca Bernal for their new thriller, Holland, when a discussion of tulips in the film led Nicole to share that she grows her own wild roses. And if you?re an extremely super special friend, the best gift she can bestow is a bunch fresh from her garden.
Nicole Kidman has a thoughtful gift reserved only for the ?super special? people in her life.
The Oscar winner is surrounded by tulips as the star of the new thriller Holland, about a meticulous homemaker whose perfect life is upended when she suspects her husband is up to no good.
Kidman, 57, tells PEOPLE in an interview alongside her costars Matthew Macfadyen and Gael Garca Bernal. ?I love giving flowers, but I like growing them in the garden. I grow roses. My greatest gift to someone can be a bunch of my own wild roses.?
?So if you get that, it means you?re super special. There?s only a few of them though,? she adds, as Succession alum Macfadyen, 50, calls the gesture ?lovely.?
Her favorite flowers at the moment are tulips and daffodils, she says, and she?s also fond of fragrant varieties, like night-blooming jasmine, honeysuckle, gardenias, hyacinths and lilacs. The list goes on. ?I?d like to have a flower shop,? she says with a smile.
The trio?s twisty new thriller goes to some dark places, though they agree things stayed light on set.
?I think the darker the subject matter is, sometimes the more fun on set it is,? explains Macfadyen. ?Naturally, actors sort of play against how grim, or otherwise, the material is. Sometimes when you?re doing comedy, it?s quite serious. Everyone?s like, ?Is this funny???
?Yeah, that?s true,? agrees Kidman, who adds, ?But this is such an interesting tone, because it?s got that really dark humor, but it?s very? how it presents, it?s like a package with a big bow and then you unwrap it and you?re like, ?Oh!??
[From People]
I agree that giving flowers is one of the greatest gifts you can confer. In fact, when I was a little tyke at JCC, after learning about the 10 Commandments we were all asked to come up with a commandment of our own, and mine was: ?You should give people flowers.? My efforts are slightly less thoughtful than Nicole?s, though, since I don?t grow my own (I consistently kill plants and flowers, sigh). And speaking of, I can?t believe Nicole has the time to tend to her own garden! Is this in Tennessee? Are roses that hearty that they can survive global indie film schedules? And yet I still can?t keep a bloom alive in the apartment I?m in everyday? Also, who do we think has gotten one of these super special bunches? The only name I feel completely confident about is Naomi Watts.
As for Holland, it?s out now on Amazon Prime, and it?s at the top of my list for what to watch next. Every shot of Nicole in one of those Dutch Bonnets absolutely slays me. Plus she?s got that slightly psycho look in her eyes that?s giving me To Die For vibes ? I still think that movie is one of her best performances, ever. Only where Suzanne Stone was a cool character, Holland?s Nancy Vandergroot seems ready to burst in spectacularly unhinged fashion. I also feel, based on nothing more than the trailer, that a clog shoe may end up being a murder weapon.

| Nicole Kidman wore a Saint Laurent pantsuit at the Critics Choice: surprisingly good? | Added 85 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman, like Angelina Jolie, might not be seen for the rest of the awards season. Nicole also got ?snubbed? for SAG, BAFTA and Oscar nominations, so the Critics Choice Awards were possibly the last time we?d see her. What a final appearance though she wore a fresh-off-the-runway look from Saint Laurent, a baggy pantsuit basically. My first reaction was ?nah?? But it?s grown on me, and now I sort of love that she mixed it up. Her hair and makeup look great here as well.
Zoe Saldana also wore Saint Laurent, but we?ll be seeing more of her throughout the season. Zoe picked up the Critics Choice Award for supporting actress for Emilia Perez. The votes were mostly cast before Karla Sofia Gascon?s tweet-history mess, and this is one category which I could see a major ?surprise? come Oscar night. As for her dress? it?s fine. It?s not actively bad. It does feel like a lot of women sort of phoned it in, style-wise, at the CCAs.
Naomi Watts wore one of the most hilariously bad looks I?ve ever seen from her. This is Prada, and at least it was ?on trend? a lot of women are wearing super-structural gowns and dresses right now, especially with this kind of terrible business around the waist and hips.
Monica Barbaro also wore Prada a custom piece. It?s fine for the CCAs.

| Nicole Kidman wore Balenciaga & big hair to the Globes: campy & fun? | Added 119 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman is so camp. Nicole was Golden Globe-nominated for Babygirl, so she turned up to the Globes in a sexy Balenciaga halter gown and Brigette Bardot hair. The hairpiece was so funny. It feels like Nicole is genuinely having a good time with this awards-season run, and that?s reflected in her style choices too.
Kerry Washington also wore Balenciaga. I know Kerry and her fashion choices are very popular, but I was not a fan of this look. The Barbie-core vibe feels dated, like she?s doing this a year too late. The actual dress standing apart from the black hose and gloves is not great, the taffeta looks stiff. Overall, far from her best look.
Ali Wong also wore Balenciaga we?ve seen this dress before on red carpets in different colors. I don?t mind the red, but the black gloves kind of downgrade the look, in my opinion.

Last week we learned that Vanity Fair revamped their calendar to release their annual Hollywood Issue now, while all the awards-bait films are coming out in droves, instead of closer to the Oscars in the new year (though they?re still calling this the 2025 Hollywood cover). By my count in perusing VF?s cover archives, Nicole Kidman is making her fifth appearance in the Hollywood Issue, her other years including 2022, 2018, 2001, and 1995 on the inaugural cover. Each and every time, even going back to 1995, Nicole was on the first panel. My point? Nicole Kidman is, to quote our president, ?a big f?king deal.? In Hollywood, that is. She works nonstop, including on the development and producing side, and every couple years she?s a contender for an Oscar nom, like she is this year for Babygirl. She won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for the part, which tragically fell on the same day as her mother passing. Nicole talked about her mother?s influence and a lot more in her VF profile. A few highlights:
On her mother, who she just lost: She was my compass in a way. It?s like losing that, but at the same time going, Okay, well, this is for her then. So much of what she wanted for my sister and I was to create women in this world who felt like they could express themselves and have opportunities, especially things she didn?t have from her generation. She loved my career, she really did. She would be there through all the ups and downs, all of it. Her essence has been pretty much the driving force through my whole life. I wish she could have seen this part of it.
She chooses projects on instinct: I am very spontaneous and I have immediate yeses. When [director Susanne Bier] called me, we didn?t have all the scripts for Perfect Couple, but I was like, ?Yes.? When Halina reached out for Babygirl, I was already going, ?Okay, just the title alone, I?m in.? If I feel freedom and safe with a person, then I can just give them everything. But I?ve got to feel arms around the project and me ? that allows the expression. So much of what you?re offering is deeply personal. I need to be held in that regard for it to really work.
It?s harder to get projects greenlit: Everything?s hard now. Actually everything. I mean, maybe not Deadpool, but there?s nothing that?s, ?Oh my gosh. Yep. This is it. Greenlight, let?s go.? Or maybe it?s just the things that I do. [Laughs] I just think that?s the nature of what we?re dealing with now. Things are shrinking in terms of shows being done and films being made. I definitely feel it. I?m sure most people in the industry feel it. I know the crews feel it. I know writers feel it.
On who she wants to work with: I?ve always said I want to work with [Martin] Scorsese, if he does a film with women. I?d love to work with Kathryn Bigelow. I?d love to work with Spike Jonze. I?d love to work with PTA [Paul Thomas Anderson]. I?ve always wanted to work with Michael Haneke. And there?s a whole slew of up-and-coming directors ? there?s so many, and I?m always open to the discovery of new people. And I find it really exciting when you go, Here?s someone that?s so experienced and has been working and working, but they?ve now really hit their stride.
She?s never had a plan for her career: I have been crazy in life, so whatever happens, it comes out in many different ways. I feel things intensely. I read a lot. I?m raising a family. I?m a wife, I?m a sister. I?ve got all these friends. I?m moving through the journey of life. It can be really hard, especially if you?re very present and emotional and in it. And then there?s an enormous amount of sheer joy.
[From Vanity Fair]
The more I hear/see of Nicole Kidman in her elder stateswoman glory, the more unbelievable it is to me that she was ever with Tom Cruise, let alone for 10 years. Saying yes to things just on instinct? Being ?crazy in life?? Those seem to me like qualities that would scare the sh-t out of Cruise. It?s also kind of wild to think Nicole?s huge body of work has been the result of such spontaneity. Good for her! At the end of the day, I get the feeling that she really does just f?king love acting and collaborating now as much as she ever did (she?s been working professionally for 40 years!). It?s a bit depressing to hear that even she has trouble getting things greenlit, though she sounds clear that it may be down to her indie tastes. Which makes me wonder/hope that she and Sydney Sweeney had some time during the shoot to talk shop about producing. And finally, what a ballsy, effortless slay she landed on Martin Scorsese, all while expressing how she?d like to work with him. No notes.

| Nicole Kidman in black and white Balenciaga at the Met Gala: cool tribute to fashion? | Added 363 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidmans black and white Balenciaga gown didnt seem on theme to me when I first saw it, but she said it was a tribute to the Sleeping Beauties theme in that it was a remake of a 1951 Balenciaga gown she saw in a photo, recreated by their current creative director, Demna. (The Met Gala exhibit contains so many fragile and archival gowns that were reawakened for display.) In that respect its an incredible gown and who wouldnt want to wear this? Imagine seeing a gorgeous 70-year-old gown and asking for it to be remade for you. Nicole was clearly enjoying the drama of it all too! Queen.
Fellow fashion goddess Isabelle Huppert was in cream satin Balenciaga that had a long flowing train. She looked so gorgeous and regal. Look at the details on this gown, it looks like a separate top and skirt. Her face says she doesnt want to be there though. I get it. I would be tired after all that.

| Nicole Kidman on winning her Oscar: 'I went to bed alone; I was in bed before midnight' | Added 463 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

No one really had a divorce/comeback storyline like Nicole Kidman, before or since. Those of us old farts who watched it unfold in real time were in awe. She went from one half of THE Hollywood A-list couple to a woman divorcing her Scientologist husband, all while dealing with a miscarriage and (basically) being forced to leave her two kids in Scientology so she could escape. Then Nicole rewrote her own narrative, doing a string of acclaimed and award-winning films and showing up to every red carpet looking like a million bucks. Moulin Rouge, The Others, The Hours, Cold Mountain, Dogville, all released within a three-year period, with Nicole getting back-to-back Best Actress Oscar nominations in 2002 and 2003. She ended up winning in 2003 for The Hours. While she was riding a professional high during that tumultuous period, she was mostly single and trying to figure out what was next for her romantically. That is the focus of Nicole?s version of her 2003 Oscar-winning night. Kidman spoke to Dave Karger for his new book, 50 Oscar Nights, about what she felt and did on that night.
As Nicole Kidman?s career reached one of its highest peaks, the actress was experiencing one of her most personal lows. The star, 56, won her first Oscar in 2003 for playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours, just a year after her first nomination for Moulin Rouge!. But behind her bright smile and glamorous Jean-Paul Gaultier gown hid a private struggle; Kidman had recently finalized her divorce from Tom Cruise after 11 years of marriage.
?I was struggling with things in my personal life, yet my professional life was going so well,? she told author Dave Karger in his new book 50 Oscar Nights (on sale Jan. 23). ? That?s what happens, right??
On stage, Kidman briefly broke down before composing herself (?Russell Crowe said don?t cry when you get up there and now I?m crying?), and was played off before she was able to finish her speech. Afterwards, she felt the urge to go home.
?I?m not a big party girl, so I was going to skip the Vanity Fair party, and everyone was like, ?You?ve got to go. You?ve got to walk through the party carrying your Academy Award,? she recalls in the book. I said, ?That just feels like gloating, and it doesn?t feel humble.? Like, what? You can?t walk through carrying the award! That feels really inappropriate. They?re like, ?That?s what you do.?
Ultimately, she did go to the storied bash, at least for a little while, with her engraved Oscar in hand: ?So I literally walked in, carried it around, was completely overwhelmed, emotional, shaking, and I didn?t enjoy it. I was almost apologetic, which is so stupid. I wish I could have enjoyed it more,? she says. Afterwards, in the quiet of her hotel room, Kidman was confronted with the urge to find love again.
?I went home and ended up ordering takeout and eating it on the floor of the Beverly Hills Hotel, she says. I sat on the floor of the hotel eating French fries and a burger with my family and went to bed. That?s when it hit me. I went, I need to find my love; I need a love in my life. Because this is supposed to be when you go, ?This is ours.??
The Oscar evening ended with a whimper. ?I went to bed alone; I was in bed before midnight. If I ever won again, I?m telling you, I?d be out for 24 hours.?
[From People]
I get it she was still in the middle of that crazy ride which started when Tom Cruise filed for divorce. She barely had time to think, she was working on back-to-back projects and she had a moment of taking-stock on Oscar night. Something I hate is this idea that a single woman can?t or shouldn?t be proud of her achievements, or that an Oscar means nothing unless Nicole had a boyfriend or husband to validate her and her award. But I also think it?s more complicated than that in Nicole?s case.

At last night?s Met Gala, Nicole Kidman was one of several old-school fashionistas to choose a vintage Chanel look from their own archives. Nicole?s Chanel gown was something she wore when she represented Chanel No. 5, it was a custom gown designed for her by Lagerfeld years ago. That?s really cool, and the dress itself is lovely. What I hated was Nicole?s stringy, limp, unwashed-looking hair. Blech.
Billie Eilish wore Simone Rocha. I liked this? It was fine. Well-constructed, interesting, on-brand for Billie.

Nicole Kidman only attended the Oscars as a presenter she wasn?t in any of the nominated films or anything. I enjoy ?presenter Nicole? she comes out to have fun, and if you told me she took an edible or had a few shots before the Oscars carpet, I would believe you. Nicole wore Armani this dress grew on me throughout the night and I ended up really liking it.

| Nicole Kidman wore Balenciaga for Paris Fashion Week: wacky, tragic or cool? | Added 1034 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman is in Paris this week for fashion week. It looks like she was requested specifically by Balenciaga, which is pretty interesting to me. While Nicole has a fascinating history as a fashionista, she?s never been particularly aligned to Balenciaga in particular. I would even argue that she?s more closely aligned in fashion history to Dior, Gucci and Tom Ford (specifically Tom Ford-for-Gucci). Anyway, here are some photos of Nicole arriving to the Balenciaga Fall/winter ?22-23 show in Paris today. That skirt? that pussybow blouse? I don?t know, y?all. Like, if the skirt looked less stiff, I would actually like it. The blouse is just a huge NO though. I feel like Balenciaga is trying to do ?updated ?80s secretary with unexpected materials.?
On Tuesday, Nicole also stopped by the Balenciaga atelier in Paris, likely for the fitting of the ensemble she wore today (which didn?t work because she?s swimming in that black ensemble). She exited the atelier in a Balenciaga ensemble these tragique jeans, a black leotard and the Balenciaga wrap-around sunglasses. I love that Nicole is trying out those sunglasses. They actually look kind of cool on her.
Can we talk about the jeans? My God. I don?t mind that baggy jeans are coming back, mostly because the skinny jean trend needs to fking die already. I will be sitting right here when the bootleg jean trend comes back too, idgaf. But these jeans are so bad. I think it?s the wash which offends me the most? If these were a darker wash, I might consider these.

| Nicole Kidman wore the worst Prada dress ever to 'The Northman' premiere | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s premiere of The Northman in Los Angeles. The three stars of the film were all in attendance: Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor-Joy. Ethan Hawke didn?t make it, and I would assume he?s not contractually obligated to do much promotion for this (his role is reportedly pretty small). Alex looked okay. But his night was totally overshadowed by his lady costars.
First off, Nicole Kidman?s style has left the building. I would argue that her style left the building a decade ago, but she?s arguably had a few appearances here and there where I?ve thought ?oh, there?s the old fashionista!? No more. Nicole just picks the worst fking things these days. Her stylist is passive-aggressive as hell. This monstrously bad dress is from Prada. Every single thing is bad. There is no silver lining to this look at all. The color sucks, the black collar is stupid, the feathers are hilariously terrible. (even the earrings are bad, they?re just completely random next to this dress)
Anya?s look is Dior, because everything she wears is Dior. I?m not entirely sure if her stiff collar is detachable or if it was originally supposed to be part of the dress, but it?s a weird look for her. I don?t find it particularly flattering, but I hesitate to say anything is ?unflattering? on Anya. She could wear a paper sack and look chic. But lord, that collar is dumb.
