Here are some photos of Gigi Hadid in Milan over the weekend, promoting her capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger. As we discussed last week, Gigi was in Milan for their fashion week, and she had a pretty full schedule of runway work and appearances. When she was leaving one of the shows, she was assaulted by serial abuser Vitalii Sediuk, a ?prank journalist? who gets off on assaulting celebrity men and women, mostly women. Here?s the footage of Sediuk assaulting Gigi again:
It took hours for media outlets to realize that this was Sediuk, and the first outlets reporting on the altercation made it seem like Gigi had done something wrong, when clearly she was defending herself while being physically assaulted. Well, Lena Dunham?s latest Lenny letter includes a defense of Gigi?s actions, plus Gigi wrote this about what happened:
I remember taking the time, as it all felt slo-mo, to look at him, a stranger, and my first reaction was: ?Get me out of this situation.? I played volleyball, and my coaches talked about muscle memory. I started boxing two years ago and I always remembered that. Since then, I hadn?t been in a situation that forced me to fight back, but it just came out when he grabbed me ? it wasn?t a choice. I do have that fighter in me.
Honestly, I felt I was in danger, and I had every right to react the way I did. If anything, I want girls to see the video and know that they have the right to fight back, too, if put in a similar situation. Practicing self-defense is important so that when you?re in the moment, reacting from muscle memory comes more naturally to you than freezing up. Confidence in your own ability to defend yourself comes with educating yourself about it, and is a massive advantage when in an unsafe situation.
The first article that was posted about the incident was headlined: ?Not model behavior. Gigi aggressively lashes out and elbows fan in the face after he tries to pick her up. The supermodel angrily hit an unknown man before running to her car.? That?s when I really got pissed. First of all, it was a woman who wrote the story with that headline. What would you tell your daughter to do? If my behavior isn?t model behavior, then what is? What would you have told your daughter to do in that situation?
When my mom first saw what had happened, she texted me the picture of me elbowing the guy and (among other messages of support) said, ?Good girl.? My mom has taught me the power of my instincts since I was a kid. She?d always be like, ?OK. Pay attention to the people who make you feel uncomfortable. I want you to tap into that and be aware of it.? I continue to use that intuition with the fashion industry and the people who I have to be around. It usually guides me pretty well. I think it guided me in this situation, too.
It sounds clich to say it, but in the moment, it wasn?t heroic to me. It was just what I had to do. It?s very touching to me that people see it that way. I know people are put in much worse situations every day and don?t have the cameras around that provoke social-media support. I just want to use what happened to me to show that it?s everyone?s right, and it can be empowering, to be able to defend yourself.

I agree with Gigi?s mom, because my first reaction upon seeing Gigi elbow her assailant was ?good girl? and ?right on.? No one, no man and no woman has the right to put their hands on you. No one has the right to assault you in the name of a ?prank? or a ?protest.? And it?s great that Gigi is encouraging young women to care about self-defense and standing up for themselves in all situations. Well done, Gigi.

True story: I never watched Monster, the film that won Charlize Theron her one and only Oscar. I get that everyone was so impressed that such a famously beautiful woman would ?ugly? herself up to play a serial killer, etc. But for my money, Charlize?s best films are North Country (she?s devastating in that) and Young Adult. It always pains me that Young Adult didn?t get the kind of critical love that it deserved, and I always thought that was because Charlize was (once again) brave enough to play such a thoroughly unlikeable character.
Young Adult was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman. The trio (Reitman, Cody and Theron) have come together again for a film called Tully, which is filming in Vancouver right now. The plot of the movie is this: ?Raising three children in the film, Charlize plays the main character Marlo who was gifted a night nanny by her brother, and to her surprise, formed a unique bond with the unique young nanny.? It?s believed that the young nanny is played by Mackenzie Davis. These are candid photos from the Vancouver set.
Do you notice anything odd or unconventional about the pics? According to the Daily Mail, Charlize has allegedly put on a significant amount of weight for this role. The DM theorizes that she could be wearing a prosthetic suit, but they think that option is unlikely. And I agree? I mean, some of this could be padding, I guess, but I think Charlize really did gain some weight for this role ? you can see it on her face. I?m not sure how much it is, but it?s a noticeable amount of weight and it wouldn?t surprise me if she did decide to do a body-transformation for the role, just like she did for Monster.
Personally, I get tired of actors doing radical body transformations for film roles, but maybe I?m just tired of people doing the ?weight loss? thing. Maybe I enjoy it more when beautiful, size-2 actresses spend a few months gorging on pizza and ice cream for their ?craft.? We need more of this!

I realize that many of you are Eva Green super-fans, so this post is just for you. These are photos of Eva at last night?s New York premiere of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the new Tim Burton film. Incidentally, there are still rumors that Eva and Burton might be in a relationship, or were in a relationship when they filmed this. They still aren?t saying, although the body language could go either way. I think they look friendly and she seems like she would be Tim Burton?s (manic pixie/goth) dream girl.
Eva wore this somewhat underwhelming Elie Saab gown for the premiere. I love the color and she looks like a beautiful vampire created by Anne Rice. But the actual design of the gown is sort of a big MEH. I think it?s that netting/crochet/lace vibe on the front and on the side. It seems slightly dowdy when they were aiming for sexy, and you have to really TRY to make Eva look dowdy.
Meanwhile, Eva is over playing The Girlfriend. Good! She said:
?I don?t want to be the woman in the script where it goes, ?There?s a beautiful, mysterious woman?? Just, OK, forget it. I think I would feel unhappy. Some people play it very well but I want to be as equal as a man, you know what I mean? It?s nice not to play the girlfriend. It?s exciting to be other.?

While I don?t doubt that she?s legitimately tired of getting those scripts where she would just be playing ?the beautiful girlfriend? to the hero, I also think that she?s getting to the age (she?s 36) where those scripts are really starting to drop off. Might as well make it look like her choice, you know?

Tara Reid is having a rough couple of months, not that that’s any departure for the way she normally lives her life. She got into an unnecessary beef with Jenny McCarthy forcing many of us to utter for the first time, ?I agree with Jenny McCarthy.” She’s been catching a lot of flack for her very thin appearance and admitted to faking a relationship just so she could appear on a second-rate reality show. Most recently, she trolled us with a poorly executed Instagram post for her latest movie, the schlock-horror-posing-as-a-moral-tale film, Worthless. Apparently, filming for a New York minute wiped her out. So much so that she remained planted in an airport bar as her plane took off for LA without her. Never fear, though, her people assure us that exhaustion was to blame. Uh-huh. And did her “exhaustion” come in a shot glass or over ice?
Tara Reid missed a flight to LA on Saturday because she was too busy hanging at an airport bar, a source said.
Reid was seen at Jack Duggan?s Pub inside Philadelphia International Airport.
A witness told us, ?Tara was beyond tipsy? and was ?sharing an egg sandwich with an air traveler.?
The ?Sharknado? actress, 40, was in Philly to film ?Worthless.?
A rep for Reid said: ?She was exhausted from filming. Missed her flight and got on the next one. She wasn?t tipsy but extremely tired from filming.?

I love the egg sandwich detail. I get that the witness wasn?t privy to all the details but this gives me the mental image of Tara ?exhaustedly? stumbling over to some poor unsuspecting traveller, sticking her finger into his/her sandwich while ?tiredly? slurring, ?were you going to eat that??
Tara blew what small chance Sharknado afforded her to get back in the game. Granted everyone was pretty stunned that a tornado of sharks could turn into a four+ film franchise, but Tara could have maybe found a kitsch niche ala Bruce Campbell and stayed relevant for a little longer. But she didn?t. She fell right back into her ?exhausted? ways, picking fights and stumbling through appearances. Fine, that?s her prerogative but don?t try to tell us she?s just really pooped. When I was her age, I was still planning meetings and conventions. Even after six weeks of three different cities (in different states) a week with 5AM call times following late night flights, I never missed a plane. And I was pretty f–king exhausted.
Although, I do like a good sandwich. Maybe the shared egg sammie was just worth missing a cross-country flight for?

I’ve said that if Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts ever split up I would need time to get over it. I am sitting here eating a pint of caramel gelato with rolos mixed into it because that time is now. Star Magazine reported in January that Naomi and Liev had split and were going to keep it amicable for their kids. Then they were seen out together with their sons Sasha, 9, and Samuel, 7, with Naomi instagramming a photo of Liev around that tim. They went to SAGs together in February and walked the red carpet at the premiere of their joint film together, a boxing biopic called The Bleeder, at the Venice Film Festival and at TIFF. They looked relaxed and happy and like everything was fine, however Liev took their oldest son with him to the Emmys last week. Well their movie is out, The Emmys are over, Ray Donovan’s season just wrapped and Liev and Naomi announced that they’ve split. They’ve been together since 2005 (here’s a link to the story of how they got together) and they never married.
“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple,” Schreiber and Watts said in a joint statement to PEOPLE.
“It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship. While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy,” the statement continued.
A source on the set of Schreiber’s Showtime series Ray Donovan tells PEOPLE, “They have been on the rocks for quite a while.”

TMZ claims that Liev and Naomi have been living apart since January, which is similar to what People’s source is saying and is also consistent with Star’s reporting at the time. So they’ve tried to make it work, it hasn’t, and they’re broken up now. I do think that they’re going to try to keep it above board and won’t leak stories to the press, but we’ll see. It’s promising that this is a joint announcement and that it’s so cordial and frankly – nice. I would think Naomi is behind it as she just got fed up, but it’s hard to tell.
