Adding another name to an already star studded line up, Carrie Underwood will take the stage at the 2013 Emmy Awards this week.
The country hit maker will perform as part of a segment honoring the 50th anniversary of both President John F. Kennedy?s assassination and The Beatles? first stop at the ?Ed Sullivan Show.?
Emmy executive producer Ken Ehrlich said in a release, "To have an opportunity to look back at a time that represented television's finest hour in a program that celebrates so many of this year's achievements is what makes the Emmys special. We are certain that viewers will enjoy this special tribute."
Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the Emmy?s will air on Sunday, September 22 beginning at 8:00 on CBS.

As part of her transition into “sober” life, Lindsay Lohan has a new boyfriend. 30-year-old former football player and Bravo reality show star Matt Nordgren. Nordgren played one season for the Philadelphia Eagles and appeared in the reality showMost Eligible Dallas so he clearly has the credentials to be a sober jumpoff for Lindsay Lohan.
When we quizzed Nordgren directly about dating Lohan, he told us: ?We?ve hung out. But I have been a friend trying to support her for many years now.?
He explained the two met about seven years ago through mutual friends in Los Angeles.
When we asked if Lohan, who was spotted at the Purple magazine party at the Top of the Standard last week, was sober, he said: ?She?s completely sober for months now. She?s in a great place, she?s thinking clear and working hard and meeting with all the right people.?
Strange considering that’s pretty much what everybody said about Lindsay the first two times after rehab until she got drunk and stole a bunch of stuff. But this time is different, I swear!
The only way Lindsay will change is if we attach one of those dog shock collars to her and set it off anytime she does anything remotely retarded. Just don’t let me handle the controller. I’d just set it off randomly. Line of coke? Buzz! Peeing? Buzz! Drinking a glass of water? Buzzzzz! Haha, look at her flail around!

Jen, 44, is reportedly expecting her first baby, but she?s not jumping to announce her news. She is reportedly waiting to announce the news until she has passed those crucial first months.

So, her rep denied it to Us Weekly but they still ran with the story and put it on the cover? That is just? weird. I suspect that this is The Classic Aniston Game for when she?s promoting a film ? someone, somewhere will report that she?s pregnant based on photos of Aniston massaging her stomach area on a red carpet, then Aniston gets to spend the publicity tour talking about the state of her womb and how she?s not pregnant and we?re so invasive but yes, she wants kids of course she does.
Or she could really be pregnant this time and her rep is just lying like he does often enough. You choose your version of the story. I will say this ? if she?s pregnant, really and truly pregnant, that might go a long way to explaining why she looked so ill and barfy during TIFF.

These are photos of Nicole Richie last night while hosting a Nordstrom store opening in Glendale. Nicole really went all out for this event. She combined a full-length, oriental floral print dress with odd leopard print shoes and a fussy, fringey clutch. What do you think of her dress? It’s Jean Paul Gaultier, and it is hideous. Somehow she pulls it off! There’s something to be said for poise and confidence. This getup would overpower most women on the red carpet, but Nicole makes it work. I’d still advise her to take it easy on the bronzer because she looks a bit orange.
Nicole also appears in an interview with the October issue of Elle to promote her House of Harlow jewelry. Nothing earth shattering came out of this talk, but her personality is worth it:
The new House of Harlow vibe: “Because my line is called House of Harlow 1960, people assume it’s literal. What I mean when I talk about “The ’60s” is a vibe that definitely extended into the ’70s as well. It’s about freedom and labels not really being part of your wardrobe. It’s about layering lots and lots of jewelry, and having everything transition from day to night. It’s really about that free-spirited energy and excitement that you can see in those periods, not a definite or defined year.”
She has a new dog, Iro: “At first, it was Joel’s thing. He did all the research. He was very specific about the kind of German Shepherd he wanted, and he was really involved and really excited about getting a dog, but now I’m his primary caretaker! He’s my dog for sure!”
Iro will co-star in her ads: “Because he’s a fame [ho] and he lives for the camera. [Laughs] What can I say, some men need attention, and need to be adored! And Iro is one of them!”
Her favorite hairstyle: “I am the best braider in the world. I can braid anyone’s hair, I can braid my own hair, and I can do all kinds of complicated and intricate braids. I’m a master of the braid.”
She’s not into makeup: “I’m not that kind of “lady” who always leaves the house with makeup. In fact, the only time I wear makeup is when I’m working. So I have no idea how my eyeliner stays on. All I know is that I have really talented makeup artists.”
What word would she like to retire? “Chic!”

She’s so funny, right? I always say this, but every time I read one of Nicole’s interviews, I’m startled at the way Nicole has grown and matured while Paris Hilton is trapped at age 21 for all of eternity.
I’m giggling just a bit at this picture of the Nordstrom brothers towering over Nicole. She’s got more presence than all of them combined.

Yay! I get so giddy whenever I get to write about Cate Blanchett. I?m just excited to see her, and there?s so much pleasurable anticipation for months of Blanchett photo-ops ahead of us. She will get an Oscar nomination for Blue Jasmine, I?m sure. Whether she will win, that?s still up in the air. But won?t it be fun to see her campaign? We haven?t had a good Blanchett fashion show/Oscar campaign in several years now. She hasn?t had any major nominations since 2008, maybe a little into 2009 with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Yay!
Anyway, these are some photos of Blanchett at last night? UK premiere of Blue Jasmine. As you can see, Cate wore this completely? odd… Givenchy. It?s Givenchy Fall 2012, so it?s a few seasons old already, yet I don?t remember seeing this on anyone before now. Think of it this way ? this would look terrible on every one of the girls who wear Givenchy these days (Kim Kardashian, Beyonce). But on Cate? it sort of works? It has some kind of weird, built-in cape that seems bejeweled. Cate?s shoulders are beautiful. And her face is exquisite.
While she was promoting Blue Jasmine in London, Cate discussed the state of politics, specifically women in politics and the politicization of women:
Cate Blanchett has told Sky News she has ruled out going into politics, although she is concerned that a “wave of conservatism sweeping the globe” is affecting the role of women in society.
The Australian is in London to promote her new film, Blue Jasmine, directed by Woody Allen. He is famous for making muses of his leading ladies but Blanchett, who describes herself as a feminist, believes equality for women has yet to be achieved.
“I’m reading a book by Ann Summers called The Misogyny Factor, and I feel that all of the steps forward that we’ve made … a lot of those have been rescinded,” she said. “Conservatism is affecting the way women perceive who they are in the world.”
When asked about the sexism scandal involving Australia’s former prime minister Julia Gillard, the actress said: “Whether you admire her as a politician or not, as a woman and out of respect for the office of the Prime Minister, how she was treated was quite shocking.”

Has a ?wave of conservatism? really swept the globe? Eh. With issues of feminism, it often feels like one step forward, two steps back, but is the world more radically conservation and/or radically anti-woman right at this moment than, say, five years ago? Ten years ago? There are cracks in the glass ceiling and I?m hopeful. That being said, now I kind of want to read The Misogyny Factor. Maybe that will be our second Celebitchy Book Club Selection after we finish reading A Visit From the Goon Squad? (By the way, we?ll be reviewing and discussing our first selection on October 6th.)

Lindsay Lohan wants some attention. Because even though she?s ?sober? now (and that?s still in question, at least for me), Lindsay is still an unmitigated famewhore. And crack-birds of a feather flock together. So now we know that Lindsay has been dating ?handsome Texan football star? Matt Nordgren. I don?t know who he is, but he and Lindsay both want everyone to know that they?re dating now.
Out of rehab and living relatively drama free in New York City, (well, except for Dina Lohan’s DUI) the latest on Lindsay Lohan is decidedly wholesome: she’s dating handsome Texan football star Matt Nordgren.
Lohan first met Nordgren, 30, a former University of Texas football star who played one season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and then starred on the 2011 Bravo reality show Most Eligible Dallas, seven years ago.
While Nordgren has been linked to former The Bachelorette star Vienna Giardi and former The Hills star Audrina Patridge, he’s has been with Lohan of late.
?We?ve hung out,” he recently told Page Six. “But I have been a friend trying to support her for many years now.?
And it seems to be working.
“She’s completely sober now,” he added. “She’s in a great place and working hard and meeting with all the right people.”
It appears that he’s one of them. The Dallas native is a a partner in his family’s energy conservation firm Nordco, Inc. and has been good for her, according to one pal.
“She is very happy and very committed to staying sober,” says the Lohan friend. “He drinks but not irresponsibly and not in front of her. He is close to her whole family.”

Oh, I get it. He played one season and then he became part of an ensemble reality show? Yeah, that sounds about right for Lindsay?s ?official? boyfriend. If anything, it sounds a bit too ?high class? for her, considering Matt probably has a nice family and he?s probably not a crackhead. I wonder if Matt minds that Lindsay still has some kind of relationship with Vikram Chatwal?
And of course, we also have a funny/sad story about Lindsay being totally OVER her mother?s cracked-out drama. Birds of a crack-feather.
Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of legal troubles and was released from rehab in July, but her mother Dina?s recent arrest for drunk driving really has the Mean Girls actress angry, sad and upset, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. In fact, while filming for her eight-episode docu-series on OWN earlier this week, and eyewitness tells Radar Lindsay was on the verge of tears over her mother.
?Lindsay?s really pissed about her mother. She even said her mother ?is a f**kin child and she needs to be supervised,?? a source close to the starlet told Radar. ?She looked like she wanted to cry. She said, ?And you wonder why I can?t take advice from these people,? referring to her mom and dad.?
Lindsay?s father, Michael, also has rap sheet that runs at least five mug shots deep.
?Lindsay said it?s pretty pathetic when your mom contacts you with an apology for doing the exact same things you?ve done and claims she?s so sorry blah blah blah,? the source continued. ?Basically Lindsay thinks her mom is a complete hypocrite.?
As Radar exclusively reported, Lindsay wasn?t exactly surprised by Dina?s arrest and is beginning to realize what a bad influence she is on her sobriety.
?Since being released from rehab, Lindsay has had limited contact with her mother because Dina can be a bad influence on her daughter?s sobriety,? the source said. ?Dina will say she is the last person that has a problem with booze, but she does. Lindsay loves her mom, but she is putting herself first, and her recovery, which is a very good thing.?
Lindsay, 27, and her siblings have even begged Dina to enter rehab in an effort to battle her addiction. Prior to Dina?s arrest, a source told Radar, ?Lindsay has been worried sick about Dina lately. She knows Dina has been out drinking and she sees how much her own treatment helped her and so she has been begging her mother to go and get help.?

I?ll say it again: ET TU, CRACKEN? If anyone should be in Dina?s corner, it should be Lindsay. Dina has lied, enabled, pimped, lied some more and obstructed justice all for her cracked-out daughter and this is the thanks she gets? Wild animals show more loyalty and family togetherness.

Kate Winslet was at TIFF to promote her new movie, Labor Day, but I didn?t spy any photos of her husband (yes, did you forget that they got married?) Ned RockNRoll. But here are some pics of Ned and Kate leaving Claridges late Tuesday morning, where I assume they had been partying. Kate looks pretty good ? obviously, I doubt she was boozing it up since she?s well into her second trimester of her third pregnancy. I have to say this too ? Kate?s face looks so much more relaxed these days now that?s pregnant, right? Almost like she stopped Botoxing for her pregnancy. Huh. Ned looks decent too ? he got a haircut.
Kate recently made some comments about motherhood, etc, to Hello Mag:
Kate Winslet is a ”hands-on mother”. The ‘Titanic’ actress – who has 13-year-old daughter Mia with first husband Jim Threapleton and nine-year-old son Joe with second husband Sam Mendes – is expecting her third child with new husband Ned Rocknroll and although she’s a busy movie star, she always puts her role as a parent first.
She explained: ”My children are my whole life. Any mother knows that – the second your child is born, they become the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you think about at night.?
”I’m a very hands-on mother … Even as I was walking from the elevator to this room [at Toronto International Film Festival], I was texting the doctor back in the UK to get an appointment for my son because he has an earache. I’m the number one person to do all that stuff for them. Isn’t that what a mother is supposed to do?”
The 37-year-old star admits she isn’t sure how her ”career will be affected” by having three children, but she looks forward to juggling her illustrious career with being a mother.
She told HELLO! magazine: ”I do love acting and I feel as privileged to get do it now as I did when I was 17 years old. Because of the kids, I tend not to work too much. I try to limit myself to one project a year. But that means I really look forward to the films I make and whenever the time for the next job rolls around, it feels like Christmas to me!”

I believe that she?s a good, hands-on mom, but whenever I see her pontificate about motherhood these days, I?m reminded of a little piece of information that she discussed years ago in Vanity Fair, when she was promoting The Reader. When she went to Germany to work on The Reader, she left her kids with Sam Mendes (and her first husband, I?m assuming, since Jim Threapleton is Mia?s father) for five months. I mean, you can be a good mom and have to go away for work for a several months. I?m not saying that she?s some terrible mom for doing that. I?m just saying that these comments read like she’s trying to convince us that she’s Super-Mom and that we should judge all moms on The Winslet Scale. ?I’m the number one person to do all that stuff for them. Isn’t that what a mother is supposed to do?? Etc.
Speaking of good motherhood, will this this child have the last name ?RockNRoll?? I?m seriously asking. I suggest the name ?Eylove? if it?s a girl.

I harbor mixed feelings for Mark Wahlberg. On one hand, he’s a messy and cringeworthy drunk who can’t hold his liquor on a UK talk show. His huge ego doesn’t earn him any points either. Remember how Mark beat his chest and claimed that only he would have been able to kill all the 9/11 terrorists if given the opportunity? Not too likeable.
Then there’s the Mark Wahlberg of recent years. He’s given some damn amusing interviews lately. Mark’s pontificated about the state of Justin Bieber to great effect. Mark has also expressed startling lucidity about exactly why The Lone Ranger failed. I’m begrudgingly starting to appreciate Marky Mark. Now he’s revealed his newfound success at graduating from high school at age 42. Damn. This story provides a nice counterpoint to certain other celebrity families who place a negative value upon education. What was Mark’s motivation? His family:
I never made it past the ninth grade. My circumstances were not unlike millions of other teens today, who live in tough working class neighborhoods surrounded by drugs, violence and crime, and who struggle to stay on the right path without positive influences.
Most high school dropouts don’t end up with successful careers in Hollywood. I was lucky. Compared with high school graduates, dropouts are more likely to be unemployed, in poor health, living in poverty or on public assistance.
And this doesn’t just affect an unlucky few. Every day, 7,000 students drop out of high school – more than 1.2 million a year. More than 40 million adults nationwide lack a high school diploma. These high school dropouts typically earn $200,000 less than high school graduates over their lifetime.
For me, this crisis isn’t just a national problem. It’s entirely personal.
I was fortunate to find out I could attend high school online. For almost a year, I’ve been taking classes and studying any chance I could get – on the set, traveling for work and at home. It has been both humbling and challenging, but I’m happy to report that I am officially a high school graduate, having received my diploma this summer.
It shouldn’t take luck for people to be able to access the education they need to help overcome life’s obstacles. Investment in education is a no-brainer in promoting personal and career growth and supporting our economic recovery.
We need everyone — families, leaders, and organizations — to step up and take responsibility for their communities’ educational futures.
I was able to do it because I knew I wasn’t alone, that other teens and adults were going through the same thing I was in balancing work and family in order to better themselves. To those students struggling every day and – most importantly — to those who are looking for a second chance, I have a message for you: never give up. Keep believing in yourselves and don’t make small plans.
You are not alone. I can now look at my kids every day knowing that I didn’t just do this for me — I did it for them, and I did it for all the other teens and adults who have inspired me by their commitment to graduate.
If we don’t live by example, then what do we live by? I am proud to re-introduce myself to you today as:

At the above link, Mark provides links to several foundations who help dropouts get back in the graduation game. Sure he’s looking at the big picture, but I like how he was primarily motivated to set a good example for his own kids.
Mark also revealed how Denzel Washington was super curious about what Mark was doing in his trailer during their Two Guns downtime. Mark says he didn’t tell Denzel what was up because he didn’t want to face the humiliation if he didn’t end up graduating this year. Olivia Wilde covers the October issue of Allure to promote Rush. At least I think she’s promoting that movie. Forgive me if I sound flippant or obnoxious — it’s so difficult to tell what Olivia is promoting here because she’s really awful at choosing film projects. The woman has talent, and she is witty as hell. What’s the problem? She has a terrible box-office record. In Olivia’s defense, she has a very able publicist who is able to score her multiple magazine covers for any given film. Her agent, however, sucks. Who ever thought The Incredible Burt Wonderstone would be a success?
Anyway, this Allure magazine shoot is not good. Olivia is what I would consider to be a great and striking beauty, but the person in charge of the Photoshop got carried away with the perspective functions. Why does her face look so flat? It’s scary, and I’m guessing Olivia’s publicist was not happy about this representation of her client. The Rush-inspired editorial isn’t any more flattering than the cover. Poor Livvy. This shoot will not help her career, and no one deserves this.
The interview is kind of a crap shoot and only makes sense with backstory. Olivia discusses how Jennifer Aniston helped her through the maze of out-of-context dying-vagina comments and “only kidding” claims of Kenyan marathon sex with Jason Sudeikis:
Her new BFF Jennifer Aniston: “I reached out to Jen, who has, of course, been through the wringer, and I explained the situation and I said I needed advice on how to deal with these things. She wrote me one of the most gracious, wise emails describing her journey and really wonderful words of advice about how to deal with it. And in the end, I think I would do it all again exactly the same way.”
On how she met Jason Sudeikis: “I met Jason, and I thought he was so charming. He’s a great dancer and I’m a sucker for great dancers. But he didn’t even get my number. Over the next six months we kept running into each other. [One night] my best guy friend walked up to him and said, ‘This is Olivia’s number. Use it.’ That was the beginning.”
She’s planning her wedding: “[It should be a] funny, silly wedding. I trust everyone to not leak any information. I just hope no one ends up flying a stupid helicopter over it or anything dumb like that.”
She doesn’t do pleasure-free dieting: “Fear of carbs, of gluten, of everything – we’ve distanced ourselves from the beauty of food, the art of it. It makes me sad when people say, ‘Oh, I don’t eat gluten, I don’t eat cheese. I don’t eat this. So I eat cardboard.’”
On her bod: “I’ve thought for a long time that my body type would have worked well in the 70s. The idea that you could be a broad-shouldered, small-breasted woman and still wear really great outfits.”

I can’t help it. I am starting to like this woman. Olivia is terribly sharp and tragically self aware. She’s sort of full of herself, but that’s the way of Hollywood. There’s still some hope. Even if Rush fails miserably, at least Olivia has several movies still in production. Among these projects is a Paul Haggis-directed flick wherein she gets naked with Liam Neeson. Neeson stated that he was super nervous about this project. As he should be.

Paris Hilton has a new interview in The Heat UK [via Radar]. Paris talks about her life, her younger boyfriend and the sort-of career she’s carved for herself as a DJ and spokesperson for various products. The most lol moment is when Paris deigns to give advice to Hollywood women whose careers are in the crapper, as if hers is anything to speak of. (Remember the last reality show she did? Neither does anyone else.) Paris also tries to claim that she takes out the trash when its absolutely necessary, but then admits that she never takes out the trash. She also says that she’s never cleaned a toilet in her entire life. That takes being catered and pampered to an entirely new level. This woman has an entire menagerie of animals in her home including chinchillas, birds, cats and dogs. You know that she never cleans up after any of them.
Paris Hilton embodies everything that makes an heiress and heiress ? including never having cleaned a toilet, ever, in her life.
In a recent interview with The Heat UK, Hilton opened up about everything from her new DJ gig and her boyfriend River Viiperi, to shopping at the 99-cent store but never doing household chores.
When asked the last time she?s taken out the trash, Hilton thinks about it for a while before attempting to lie about it.
?You mean take out my own trash? [Thinks.] Well, I guess Christmas time? when they get stacked up, I take out stuff if it stinks,? she says.
?Actually, I?m lying a little ? I never take out the trash!?
Same goes for her toilet.
?Hell no!? she reveals. ?I?ve never actually cleaned a toilet!?
But surprisingly, the multi-million dollar heiress admits to shopping at the 99-cent store.
?I love doing things like that. I?ve been a couple of times,? she told the British mag. ?Especially when we were in the random towns in the middle of America ? there were only 99-cent stores. Sweets, soaps and all the usual things.?
Compared to some other Hollywood starlets like Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes, Hilton has managed to build herself an empire and remain somewhat unscathed with negative press ? and she attributes it to her family.
?I feel really sorry for the girls in Hollywood who have these promising careers and all of a sudden all these bad things happen, and you don?t see them get back on track properly. I think it has something to do with they [sic] family in some situations,? she said.
?I?m so blessed [to have] solid parents. My parents don?t live off me, to start with. With some people, it feels like the kid is the boos [sic], and they survive off them. That?s not good. It?s a weird Hollywood thing, but I guess you never know what goes on behind closed doors.?
Just last month Hilton landed a big contract for a DJ gig and is super excited about her new endeavor.
?I?ve been hosting parties since I was 18, so I know a thing or two about how to have fun,? Hilton said of her new job.
?I think, with anything I do, people like to think that because I?m from the Hilton family I?m just some kind of party girl. But I shouldn?t be judged on my money or my name. If anyone knows anything about music and clubbing, it?s me.?

I don’t understand how someone can go their whole life without ever cleaning a toilet. That’s some entitlement right there. Sometimes you leave a stain in the bowl and need to use the brush to get it out. What if you’re at a friends house and that happens, do you just leave it there like you’re marking your territory? I don’t want to think about it much, but I would be embarrassed if I did this at someone else’s house. Of course I don’t have a maid and neither do my friends. I’ve been cleaning bathrooms since it was one of my chores when I was a kid. Paris has had other people cook and clean up after her since she was born. Paris insists that she shouldn’t be judged on her on her money or name, but she admits that she never does grunt work. She made all her money by trading off her family name. At least we don’t have to pay attention to her much.

Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting another movie! Let?s hope she doesn?t go all-out like she did with Iron Man 3, because that was like three solid months of interviews, appearances and The Full Goop. The Full Goop is not a pleasant place. The Full Goop is contradictory. The Full Goop is an enema wrapped in an enigma, covered with a 1970s bush. Anyway, Goop covers the new issue of Marie Claire Australia, because that?s the kind of publication Gwyneth can control, unlike the peasant-y Vanity Fair. The editorial is? um? I don?t like the cover and I think the photo with Goop in the t-neck is a Photoshop disaster. Some of this Marie Claire Australia interview sounds old, but I think they?re mixing in new quotes with old quotes. Specifically, I?ve never heard the quote about her kids growing up and having more complicated problems.
At 41, Gwyneth Paltrow remains luminously beautiful, her figure as lithe and graceful as ever. In many paparazzi photographs, it has become hard to tell which part of her ?perfect? body is real or is the result of retouching. Paltrow, on the other hand, is so lovely in real life, it?s confounding ? even close up, you would swear her face and body were somehow the product of Photoshop.

I?m not making fun of her postpartum depression, I?m just choosing to focus on the language she uses. The official line is that Gwyneth and Chris are super-private and they will never be seen in the same photo together because couple-photos are for peasants, but in reality, Gwyneth would probably love it if Chris supported her publicly just a bit more.
