This is the first time I?ve realized that Rachel McAdams is doing some kind of low-key Oscar campaign. It?s like pulling teeth though, getting her to hype herself or glad-hand at industry events. She?s simply too Canadian! Rachel?s turn in Are You There God? It?s Me, Margaret has already gotten her an LA Film Critics Award for best supporting performance, and the studio thinks she?s a dark horse for an Oscar nomination for supporting too. That would be her second Oscar nom, if it happens her first was for Spotlight. Well, they got Rachel to chat with Variety in what will probably be one of the few Oscar campaign interviews she will agree to. Some highlights:
The ?Are You There God? It?s Me, Margaret? set was family-friendly: She had her five-month-old daughter and two-year-old son on set. Even her younger sister and make-up artist Kayleen had her two children, two and three months, by her side. ?We had a really amazing mom-positive set. Everyone understood me having to send breast milk down the road in a van all day long.?
Mom guilt: But McAdams is susceptible to the looming sense of ?mom guilt? that plagues many working parents, despite being ?very lucky? to have lots of time with her kids.
Whether Barbara was supposed to be a sexy mom: ?We had a lot of conversations about making our film relatable and klutzy at times. I had Judy [Blume] on one hand saying, ?I think she should be sexy. Why can?t moms be super sexy?? And on the other hand, Kelly asking me, ?Do you think you?re a super sexy mom?? And I was like, ?No, do you feel like a super sexy mom?? And she said, ?No, but we are. We just don?t feel like it.? It was finding the middle ground where we can be all these things, and there?s honesty in that.?
She doesn?t have a cameo in the new Mean Girls movie: ?Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end. I was really down for whatever she wanted to do. I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it.?
Why she didn?t reunite with the OG Mean Girls cast for the Walmart commercial: ?I don?t know; I guess I wasn?t that excited about doing a commercial if I?m being totally honest. A movie sounded awesome, but I?ve never done commercials, and it just didn?t feel like my bag. Also?I didn?t know that everyone was doing it. I would, of course, always love to be part of a ?Mean Girls? reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later.?
[From Variety]
?I guess I wasn?t that excited about doing a commercial if I?m being totally honest? I get that. It felt like Walmart really pulled out all the stops to get the cast for a commercial and the effort probably wasn?t worth it? And some actors just don?t want to do commercials. I suspect that Rachel isn?t one of the wealthiest actresses out there, but she lives a simple, low-key life and she?s doesn?t need to collect Walmart-commercial paychecks just to make ends meet. It?s interesting that she would have been up for a cameo in the movie though I wonder why they couldn?t make it work?

| Rachel McAdams on motherhood at 39: 'I didn't want to do it before it was the right time' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rachel McAdams is really, really good at staying undercover. No one even knew she was pregnant until she was about eight months along. She gave birth and nothing was ever formally announced. At some point, we got a secondhand confirmation that she welcomed a son, and we still don?t know that child?s name. Rachel likes it that way. Rachel is currently promoting Disobedience, and she chatted with the Sunday Times Magazine about motherhood and such. These are her first ever comments about her son.
Becoming a mom: ?It?s the greatest thing that?s ever happened to me, hands down. [People say] your life is not your own any more, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person. I waited a long time [for motherhood]. It?s just how it happened. And I didn?t want to do it before it was the right time.?
She wants to keep her son?s life private: ?I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn?t. But I?m having more fun being a mum than I?ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days ? there?s something delightful about them.?
Motherhood is chaos: ?I have clothes on and that?s a good thing. I don?t even know what I?m wearing today. The shoes are held together with glue. Isn?t that sad? I need to get a life.?
What drew her to her partner/baby-daddy Jamie Linden: She told the Times she ?just wanted to be with someone creative? we live such a gypsy life as actors, so [it?s great] being with someone who can be on the road as well.?
Whether she?ll have more kids: ?I think there is definitely room for more.?
[From Page Six and Us Weekly]
She did wait a long tie for motherhood, and I used to wonder why she didn?t have a baby with some of her other boyfriends, especially Ryan Gosling. I was never a die-hard McGosling stan or anything, but in retrospect, don?t you still wonder why they didn?t have a baby? They were together for years (off and on). Maybe the timing wasn?t right for both of them, which is what she says: ?I didn?t want to do it before it was the right time.? She waited until it was the right time for her. Which? I think a lot of women are scared to do. They feel their biological clock ticking, or they get scared by whatever dire fertility study says this week, and they feel like they should just have a baby ASAP, before they?re ready financially and psychologically.

On Wednesday night, Rachel McAdams was notably absent from the big LA premiere of Game Night, the new comedy starring Jason Bateman, McAdams, Kyle Chandler and others. Rachel hasn?t done a big promotional push since Doctor Strange in 2016, really, and even then she didn?t have to make a huge push (because she was barely in the film). We didn?t see much of her throughout 2017, but no one really remarked on it because McAdams has always been one of those actors who can really ?disappear? in between projects and promotional tours. She?s been like that for years – we can not see her for months, then she?ll pop up with a new film, then disappear again. Anyway, as it turns out, Rachel was lowkey for a reason: a secret pregnancy!
Life & Style magazine can exclusively reveal that actress Rachel McAdams, 39, is far along in her first pregnancy. She and her boyfriend Jamie Linden were at Staplehouse restaurant in Atlanta on Feb. 13, an eyewitness tells Life & Style, ?and she looked to be at least seven months along!?
The Notebook star, who has been keeping a very low profile since the fall, even confirmed her news to a friendly stranger who asked whether she was expecting a boy or a girl. ?She said she didn?t know,? says the eyewitness, who adds that Rachel and Jamie, 37, were so down-to-earth that most people didn?t even realize there was a star in their midst.
?They were friendly,? the eyewitness tells Life & Style, who was first to report the actress is expecting. ?And Rachel was positively glowing.?
[From Life & Style]
Since Life & Style broke the story, E! News, People Magazine and other outlets have all run their own confirmations, even though it?s clear Rachel or her rep aren?t officially confirming anything. It?s all just sources talking, but I believe those sources because there are paparazzi photos floating around where she looks very bumpy. I hate to compare Rachel to her ex-boyfriend?s current partner, but this is some Eva Mendes sh-t! Remember when we didn?t see Eva for months at a time and then suddenly people were like ?oh, she?s pregnant and she?s due next month.? Eva did that sh-t twice!! And now Rachel is doing it. I sort of like it – there?s something so old-school about a secret pregnancy. In any case, congrats to Rachel and her guy. I hope they?re very happy.

Here are some photos from last night?s London premiere/screening/event for Doctor Strange. I?m covering the photos of Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie separately! Mostly because I wanted to give Rachel McAdams her own post. Here?s the thing: I like Rachel and I root for Rachel. I want her to succeed and look fabulous. She even just went through an awards season (for Spotlight) and I really can?t even remember one of her dresses. That?s the problem: I know she cares about fashion, but for the most part, what she wears is so unmemorable. Well, this Elie Saab is memorable? in a bad way. I?m an Elie Saab defender ? I think they make pretty, frothy gowns perfect for film festivals and such. They appeal to me because I feel like the label isn?t aiming to be ?challenging? or to be ?avant-garde.? Avant-garde is overrated. But so is this dress! God, this is so bad. Now I feel sorry for Rachel.
More photos from the premiere? Tilda Swinton is so otherworldly. She?s probably going to look like this for the next forty human years. While I hate that she?s playing The Ancient One in this film, I don?t hate Tilda?s fashion work on the red carpet. She wore Schiaparelli Fall 2016 Couture in navy. She looks badass.
And here?s Mads Mikkelsen, in case you needed a Danish fix. Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the wind as far as film promotion goes ? I guess he?s probably working somewhere and he can?t get away. It would have been nice to see him too!

| Rachel McAdams: Cumberbatch wishes his bitches would respect themselves | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Doctor Strange promotional tour has officially started up! I’m so happy. So far, Benedict Cumberbatch has covered Vanity Fair and British GQ and he and Tilda Swinton have already made a promotional swing through Asia. The cast assembled in LA this week for some work and for last night’s LA premiere, which is where Benedict’s wife Sophie debuted her baby bump. The Cumberbump sort of distracted from the other ladies at the premiere, so let’s rectify that situation – I’m including photos of Rachel McAdams (she plays Doctor Strange’s love interest/Night Nurse) and Tilda Swinton (who plays The Ancient One). Rachel wore custom Versace and Tilda wore Haider Ackermann, her favorite label. I love Rachel’s dress, even though I’m a little bit tired of her in muted colors. The purple pop in this Versace is great though.
Rachel was on The Ellen Show this week to chat about the film, and she told a story about Benedict.
Of course Ellen brings up the Cumberbitches, and Rachel does her best posh otter accent and says, ?He said, ?Oh, it?s very flattering, but I just wish they called themselves something more respectable, like Cumberhumans or Cumberpeople.?? Which is funny enough on its own ? Cumberbitches are like ?I LOVE YOU, LET ME HAVE YOUR OTTERBABIES? and Benedict is like ?Please respect yourself.? But it?s even funnier because Ellen points out that the whole reason that the Cumberbitch name stuck was because it has to sonically match ?batch.? Then Ellen says, ?He?s not that bright.? Thank you, Ellen.
And in case you wanted to barely listen to Benedict and Tilda joke with each other while playing Jenga, here you go. I will say this: his hair looks better here.

E! points out that Rachel McAdams, 37, went platinum blonde ahead of the Oscars. We’re used to seeing her in a more golden blonde color, which seems to suit her coloring better than this white blonde color. She’s a beautiful woman either way I just think her hair looks bizarre this color. Maybe I’m not used to it yet.

Rachel was at a dinner Wednesday night at the Chateau Marmot celebrating Spotlight director Tom McCarthy. I just saw Spotlight yesterday when it came out for rental and I agree with Kaiser that it was incredible. My mom and I saw it together, she went to Catholic school and raised me Catholic (up to a point), and it was a sobering look at the Church. I really hope it wins Best Picture, it’s currently the favorite to win and I hope that sticks.
In terms of her fashion, she’s in a cobalt blue David Koma sheath dress with cut out shoulders. There’s something very… athletic about this dress, I think it’s the scoop neck paired with the thick shoulder straps. I feel like should like it but it comes off as plain despite the goofy side ruffle. She looks lovely as usual though and I hope she brings it at the Oscars, as she has so far this awards season. Maybe her hair color change is in preparation for a dramatic look Sunday!
E! also points us to this interview Rachel did with Today late last year in which she discussed her preparation to play journalist Sacha Pfeiffer. She listened to Pfeiffer on the radio, met with her several times and asked her many questions. McAdams turned in a great performance and you could tell she knew her stuff. I was also so impressed with Mark Ruffalo. I know he’s not going to win Best Supporting Actor, Stallone is pretty much a shoe-in, but he so expertly got convincingly upset and frustrated without ever overacting. The entire ensemble was just terrific in this film.
Here’s how McAdams’s hair looked before, at the Oscars luncheon (this dress is Prada and I dislike it).

| Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab at the SAGs: gorgeous or boringly pretty? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rachel McAdams won a SAG last night as part of the ensemble for Spotlight. I?m happy about that! I loved Spotlight and I think the ensemble was easily the best of the year. I?m still a little bit confused about Rachel getting individual nominations for her performance, just because? I don?t know, the role wasn?t that showy or noteworthy, she was just part of a team effort that did a great job. But? I enjoy the fact that Rachel is bringing it for her awards season, as she should. Rachel wore this Elie Saab gown which I think is really pretty. People diss Elie Saab as obvious awards-show stuff ? so much tulle, so many sparkles ? but I think the house of Elie Saab doesn?t get enough credit for making flattering, pretty dresses. Not everything has to be ?challenging fashion? you know? Sometimes women just want to look pretty and sparkly.
As the red carpet was winding down and I was looking through the fashion photos, it occurred to me: Helen Mirren was one of my favorite looks of the night. Helen?s styling team is really amazing these days, right? Helen wore this silvery, slippery Jenny Packham and she looked absolutely gorgeous. Her body looks fantastic, her hair is fluffy & cute, and she just looked amazing. Sigh?

| Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab at the Critics' Choice: boring or beautiful' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rachel McAdams was another one of my favorites at last night?s Critics? Choice Awards. I know Elie Saab gets a lot of hate and/or disrespect, but I think as a design house, Elie Saab consistently delivers pretty, well-tailored, flattering gowns for women who are not feeling all that sartorially adventurous. I like this Elie Saab on Rachel because it looks great on her body, it?s a simple, uncomplicated design, it?s a great color and she?s pretty enough that she doesn?t need all of the bells and whistles of so many ?high fashion? designs. If I have one complaint about this look, it?s that I wish Rachel would stop with the blonde, specifically this shade of blonde with the ashy, dark roots. It washes her out.
Lord help me, because I enjoy January Jones. I enjoy her as an actress, as a fashionista, as a person. She?s fun and funny. But this Altuzarra? Meh. She was phoning it in.
America Ferrera in INGIE Paris. This, to me, looks like a prom dress. But from the neck up, she?s gorgeous.
Jennifer Jason Leigh in Roland Mouret. If you?re old (like me), this gave you a flashback to one or more ?80s references. This Mouret either reminds you of Julia Roberts? fancy dress in Mystic Pizza, or the dress Brenda and Kelly fought over on 90210. Which is to say? I love it. JJL?s face is morphing into Jessica Lange though.
Bryce Dallas Howard wore Balmain – she said she bought it online for herself, which is her thing. She doesn?t borrow dresses, she buys them because she has difficulties finding dresses to borrow in her size. I like that she?s okay with that and she talks about it openly. But I would love it if she would work with a stylist to figure out what?s actually flattering on her body. Because this is not it.

| Rachel McAdams in floral Lanvin at the Golden Globes: 80s wallpaper or pretty? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rachel McAdams was one of the only women in a floral gown last night. During the pre-red carpet coverage on E!, Giuliana and Brad talked about the trends to expect and they mentioned florals but acknowledged that it was a risky choice. I think McAdams sort-of pulls this off, there’s something really cool about the gown’s pattern close up, it’s like an abstract floral and has these big splotches of color that approximate flowers and greenery. I wish she had done something different with her hair though. The style is perfectly fine but the highlights look cheap. Maybe they’re for a role. It’s not like she’s going back to True Detective though, that series was run into the ground. (She’s filming Doctor Strange now, with Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton.)

Also in Lanvin we have Julia Louis-Dreyfus in black strapless lace. She always seems to wear variations of this dress, but she knows what works for her and she’s not one to show off. Louis-Dreyfus was nominated for best performance by an actress in a comedy, which she’s won for the last four years in a row, for Veep. That award finally went to someone else, to newcomer Rachel Bloom for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Melissa Benoist, 27, of Supergirl was another celebrity who wore a print on the red carpet, she’s in Monique Lhuillier and I saw some negative reviews of this gown on Twitter. (Tom and Lorenzo questioned whether it looked like wrapping paper or a bed sheet.) I sort-of liked it. It’s different, it’s flattering and there’s something whimsical about it. (I think it’s the birds, I’m partial to prints with birds.) She is definitely one to watch. Melissa was there with her husband of 10 months, actor Blake Jenner of Glee, 23.
Also in Monique Lhuillier is Leslie Mann. Lhullier can be hit or miss (although when they get a gown right it can be amazing) and this falls flat for me. It’s the pepto Pink color (I used that expression a lot but I have to credit The Fug Girls for reminding me of it on Twitter last night) and the fit is just off with that loose top and all the tulle around the skirt. Not cute.
Let’s end on a high note: Emmy Rossum in red formfitting Armani Prive. Holy crap this looks amazing. Emmy was kind of faltering in her red carpet style for a while, but she’s been bringing it lately and also wore Armani to the SAGs last year. Emmy is engaged to “Mr. Robot” creator, Sam Esmail, whose show won for Best TV Series: Drama. Ooh and I love her diamond wrap necklace. Jennifer Lopez had a similar necklace on last night and it was just to die for.

| Rachel McAdams in Self Portrait at the 'southpaw' premiere: cute or unflattering' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Rachel McAdams at last night?s NYC premiere of Southpaw, the film where she plays the long-suffering partner to Jake Gyllenhaal?s boxer (because we haven?t seen that film done a million times before). Rachel wore a Self Portrait dress which I really don?t like. She?s so pretty, for sure, and I?m okay with the idea of Rachel in a simple black dress for a premiere. But I hate the midriff-baring part and I dislike the full skirt. It seems like two okay dresses fused together to make one unflattering dress (seriously, this makes her look so flat-chested).
Meanwhile, there are still lots and lots of rumors about Rachel?s relationship with her True Detective costar Taylor Kitsch. It?s a sad day for people wanting Rachel and Jake to happen (ew) or for people wanting Rachel and Colin Farrell to happen (a beautiful, hot mess). Well, several days ago, someone creeped some ?morning after? photos of Rachel and Taylor having breakfast/brunch in Marina Del Rey ? go here to see. Body language analysis says that they spent the night together and this was their post-bang meal. An eyewitness said: ?They were definitely canoodling. They were laughing, touching, staring into each other?s eyes as the pics show and smiling?but not holding hands.? Hm.
As for True Detective, you might have noticed that I didn?t do a recap of this past Sunday?s episode. It?s because I?m so over it. I barely care about the actual investigation at this point. The dialogue is painful and the ?character study? part of the show is infuriating. I?ll probably write about the final episode, three weeks from now.
