President Musk and Sideshow Don have enacted the most eventful first month of a term, in all the worst ways possible. Thankfully, the American people are finding a myriad of ways to fight back. Some are suing. Some are publicly selling off their Teslas. And of course, some are dancing. Octavia Spencer is getting ready to bake. (Fair warning: from here on out you may want to ensure you?re at least one hour away from beginning or having finished a meal.) In 2012, Octavia won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her scene-stealing performance as Minny Jackson in The Help. In arguably the most volatile depiction of dessert-as-revenge ever put on screen, Octavia?s character, a maid, bakes a pie for her racist former employer, with a special secret ingredient? poop. Well, 13 years later and Octavia recognizes a new cast of villains who deserve the pie treatment: all DOGE employees. She announced the impromptu bake sale Tuesday on Instagram. D?ya hear that, Nazi Youths? Free food!
?Bake sale for Washington to ALL DOGE employees and supporters,? she wrote. ?I need good vanilla from MEXICO and some CANADIAN maple syrup. #limitedEdition pies: Corn and chocolate. Need lots of donations for the ?special ingredient.??
?Eat looooooooots of corn,? Spencer continued. ?one time sale.?
The actor, who won an Oscar for her performance in the film, thus confirmed being among those who are outraged at Musk, whose government advisory group has been dismantling federal agencies in a purported effort to slash public spending and root out corruption.
DOGE is reportedly also seeking access to sensitive taxpayer information under the tech mogul?s dubious watch, while President Donald Trump is eyeing steep import tariffs on Mexico and Canada ? all of which Spencer seemed to protest in Monday?s caption.
The post has already garnered 70,000 likes and supportive comments from fellow actors, including Taraji P. Henson, ?Help? co-star Viola Davis and ?Little House on the Prairie? actor Melissa Gilbert ? who recently had her own tiff with a well-known Republican figure.
?Lmaooooooooooo. Make sure not to forget THEE most expensive ingredient,? wrote Henson before leaving several poop emojis, while Davis contributed laughing emojis and one heart after commenting ?Waaaaaahhhh!!!!!! Lol!!!! PERFECT!!!!?
?The Help? was based on a 2009 book of the same name by Kathryn Stockett. Set against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement in Jackson, Mississippi, the period piece centers on African American maids who?ve spent their entire lives working for white families.
Spencer?s character delivers the pie to her former boss after being unjustly fired, making her post all the more apt in targeting an administration responsible for mass layoffs. On Monday, Trump began firing hundreds of Federal Aviation Administration employees.
The president has also moved to eradicate federal diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and make Musk a ?special government employee? ? who has since hired numerous 20-something DOGE staffers ? after the tech billionaire spent $250 million to help reelect him.

(If only those countries had an irreplaceable ingredient needed to make Diet Coke, then Trump would drop all the tariff nonsense faster than you can say ?aspartame.?) I wouldn?t be able to pick Matthew Lawrence out of a line-up, even though he?s been acting since he was a kid. He?s arguably famous for Boy Meets World, Mrs. Doubtfire and being Joey Lawrence?s brother. Back in the 1990s, he was cast in a TV movie alongside Gabrielle Union. He would have been around 19 years old, and Gabrielle would have been in her mid-20s. Apparently, she asked him if they could rehearse their lines and he said ?nope? and so she ?reported? him to the director or whatever. This is the story he?s telling this week and it?s getting a lot of attention.
Matthew Lawrence recently said on the ?Magical Rewind? podcast that the only time he got into trouble on a film or television set was when Gabrielle Union allegedly reported him. According to Lawrence, the incident occurred after he declined Union?s offer to rehearse their lines together on the set of their 1999 TV movie ?H-E Double Hockey Sticks.? Lawrence starred in the film as a hockey player who becomes the target of a young devil, played by podcast co-host Will Friedle.
?There was this one moment where ? and, again, I?m oblivious, I had no idea ? and [Gabrielle] wanted to rehearse. And I was like, ?No, I?m good,? Lawrence remembered (via Entertainment Weekly). ?And she got angry and went and reported me to the director and the studio. The only time in my entire career, because usually I?m, like, the advocate, and I?m fighting for kids and, like, you know, women?s rights. This is the only time in my life when I was called into the office for something I did on set. And I had no clue.?
Lawrence explained that he declined Union?s request to rehearse their lines together because he wanted the scene to feel as fresh as possible when the time came to shoot it. He no longer thinks that way as an actor.
?At that point, in my mind ? now I can do whatever, and nothing?s gonna faze me ? [but] at that point in my mind, I really loved memorizing the lines, knowing all the beats,? Lawrence said, ?but hated running it, cause it felt like it took all the freshness out of it.?
?H-E Double Hockey Sticks? aired on ABC in October 1999 as part of ?The Wonderful World of Disney? series. It was the same year that Union starred in the popular teen comedies ?10 Things I Hate About You? and ?She?s All That.? Lawrence said that everybody on the set of their TV movie knew Union would go on to be a star.

What?s funny is that Gabrielle was probably so annoyed with this guy. She didn?t want to deal with his nonsense, so she went to whoever was in charge and she was like ?you deal with this because he?s on my last nerve.? Again, this was the ?90s! It was a TV movie! Last March, Halle did an event in Los Angeles with Dr. Jill Biden about women?s health. Halle shared a story about how one morning after sex, it felt like she had ?razor blades? in her vajayjay. Her doctor told her it was herpes, but it ended up being a perimenopausal symptom. A few months later, while speaking before Congress to push for legislation that would provide more funding for research and education on menopause, Halle shared that she had a male doctor who told her that she ?didn?t look like? she was in menopause. Now, Halle has started a new company called Respin Health that aims to destigmatize women?s health and build a support community. It will also educate and empower women to make informed decisions about their body. In a recent appearance on Today, Halle revealed that people tried to talk her out of talking about menopause for the sake of her career.
On Feb. 18, the Oscar winner appeared on the Today Show to discuss her new company, Respin Health, which focuses on building a community for women navigating menopause. ?When women have access to a robust community of like-minded women, they automatically start to do better,? the 58-year-old says.
Saturday TODAY co-anchor Laura Jarrett noted that although it sounds ?ridiculous,? it feels like menopause is finally having a moment, with more people willing to have conversations about it.
Berry said at first she was discouraged from pursuing the passion project: ?Sadly, people said to me, ?Are you sure you want to talk about that? Do you want to align yourself with menopause? Do you worry how that will affect your career?? And I said, ?No.??
?And that?s exactly why I should be talking about it because there?s nothing wrong with me being in my mid-life,? the actress continued. ?There?s nothing wrong with being 58, and you have to stop telling me there?s something wrong with me. And I?m going to prove to you that it?s not. And so women, we have to work together to destigmatize this time of life and change culture.?
The Catwoman star encouraged other women going through menopause to lean into their health more and understand what?s happening to their bodies.
?Women find when they start educating themselves that they can make decisions from a place of power, and then they feel empowered and they don?t feel so hopeless during this half,? she explained. ?It?s not time to sit down. It?s time to reinvent. It?s time to have a beautiful, glorious second act. We can still be our fabulous selves, but we have to learn how.?
During menopause, Berry added, ?everything about our body changes, right? But that?s not to be feared. We just need education to navigate that time.?

Of course people would try to discourage Halle from speaking out about menopause and blame it on her career. She?s Halle Berry. She?s had worse gossip days than talking about vaginal lacerations and hot flashes, and her career is doing just fine. I?m glad she didn?t listen to the naysayers and is moving full-speed ahead with her mission. I love the idea. It sort of reminds me of what BabyCenter and The Bump do to guide people through pregnancy. I cannot tell you how much I learned about what I was experiencing and what to expect through their articles and message boards. I was 30 when my first son was born, but still the first in my friends group to be pregnant, so I had no peers to talk to. I?d be down to creep on a menopause version. I already get so much education just by reading the comments here.

Just after Christmas 2020, we were given a beautiful gossip story, a terrific scandal: Hilaria Baldwin had been faking her Spanish backstory and accent for years. All of it was a huge con, a systematic appropriation of ?Spanish exoticism.? For years, Hilaria told people she was ?from Spain? and even ?born in Mallorca.? For years, she claimed that her family lived in Spain and/or came from Spain, and that she came to America as a teenager. As it turns out, she was born and raised in Massachusetts as a plain old Hillary Thomas, with extensive American roots. The one Spanish connection she has is that her parents apparently moved to Spain when they retired. That does not make her Spanish. When the story broke more than four years ago, there were lots of lies and backtracks and ?no, I never said that, you just assumed!? In times of crisis, she even dusts off her faithful old Mexican accent (because she can?t even appropriate correctly). Anyway, now that Hilaria is part of a new TLC show about her family, she once again tries to talk around her years of lies.
Hilaria Baldwin is addressing her Spanish accent. In the premiere of the new TLC reality show The Baldwins, which comes out Feb. 23, Hilaria, 41, spoke out about the 2020 controversy over her accent after people began to question the authenticity of her Spanish origins. Years later, she said no one can stop her from embracing her identity.
?I love English, I also love Spanish, and when I mix the two it doesnt make me inauthentic, and when I mix the two, that makes me normal,? she noted in a confessional. ?Id be lying if I said [the controversy] didnt make me sad and it didnt hurt and it didnt put me in dark places.
But it was my family, my friends, my community who speak multiple languages, who have belonged in multiple places and realize that we are a mix of all these different things and that?s going to have an impact on how we sound and an impact on how we articulate things and the words that we choose and our mannerisms, she continued. ?Thats normal. That?s called being human.?
When it comes to the children she shares with husband Alec Baldwin ? Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2, Mara Luca Victoria, 3, Eduardo Edu Pao Lucas, 4, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Leonardo ngel Charles, 8, Rafael Thomas, 9, and Carmen Gabriela, 11 ? Hilaria said no public criticism will stop her from bringing her Spanish culture into their lives.
?Im raising my kids to be bilingual, I was raised bilingual,? she explained. ?My family ? all my nuclear family ? now lives over in Spain. I want to teach my kids pride in speaking more than one language. I think just growing up and speaking two languages is extremely special.?

We talked about this a lot when Hilaria was first outed plenty of people feel drawn to other cultures and take great interest in a culture foreign to them. Some people are Francophiles, some are Anglophiles, some are Sinophiles, etc. That?s what you call yourself though an admirer of another culture, an outsider who has a deep interest in a different culture. Loving Spain and speaking Spanish doesn?t make Hilaria SPANISH, it makes her an Iberophile. People didn?t ?out? her for speaking Spanish. They outed her for pretending to be a Spanish woman who faked a pan-Latin-American accent for years. Plenty of people teach their kids multiple languages, it?s not about that either at no point were people like ?I can?t believe she teaches her kids a second language!? Also? the Spanish names for the kids are still so ridiculous, my god. I don?t even believe that Hilaria is all that interested in Spanish culture, she?s like the worst kind of culture vulture, she?s only interested in the most superficial aspects of being fake-Spanish.

Prince William and Kate are still in Mustique. They flew to the private island full of day-drinkers last week and they skipped the BAFTAs last Sunday. The British media has been lowkey calling them out for the better part of a week too, starting with the confirmation that they were skipping the BAFTAs because of their vacation. Kensington Palace?s clownish courtiers have been trying to problem-solve and massage the PR. That?s why KP?s social media randomly posted those ?drawings? done by Kate and her children this week, only I guess we were supposed to believe that Kate posted the drawings herself as she lounged by the infinity pool. KP courtiers decided to change tack on Thursday, KP courtiers huffily briefed reporters that Kate and William will visit South Wales next week, fresh from their sunny holiday.
Kate Middleton and Prince William are teaming up for their second joint appearance of the yearand there will be cake for a special celebration.
Kensington Palace confirmed on Feb. 20 that the Prince and Princess of Wales will visit Pontypridd in south Wales on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The royals are making the trip before St. Davids Day, a day of national celebration for Wales, on March 1 and will meet members of the local community to learn about life in the town. Pontypridd was hit with severe flooding from Storm Bert and Storm Darragh in December 2024 and the couple will hear from local people who were affected then.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will pack several stops into their trip to Wales, kicking off the visit at the historic Pontypridd Market to meet local business owners and have the chance to prepare Welsh cakes. Princess Kate is sure to ace the cake-making, as shes known to bake birthday cakes for her children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Princess Kate, 43, and Prince William, 42, will then head to the Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland. The community garden was established in 2021 as a safe place for all, and the royals will see how locals restored it to full splendor after the space was affected by the flooding in December. Theyll also hear about why the community garden is so special to the people of Pontypridd as a restorative place in nature, a sentiment Princess Kate referenced when discussing what brought her strength after undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

In recent years, the press is lucky to get a confirmation that Will or Kate will be doing *something* somewhere in the coming week. Princess Kate and Prince William could be set to overshadow Meghan Markles Netflix show with a public baking display, just days before the Duchesss lifestyle show drops on the streaming platform. The Prince and Princess of Wales will visit the historic Pontypridd Market next week to try their hand at making traditional Welsh cakes.
The timing of the royal couples Welsh baking display coincides with the upcoming launch of the Duchess of Sussexs Netflix lifestyle show on March 4. Meghans new series, titled With Love, Meghan, will feature the duchess sharing cooking tips and recipes alongside conversations with friends. The show promises to blend practical how-tos and candid conversation while embracing playfulness over perfection as Meghan and her guests explore cooking, gardening and other creative pursuits.

Last month, McCain lost her mind over the trailer for With Love, Meghan. McCain was incandescent with rage over the very idea of a Black woman in a typically ?white space? of cooking/entertaining/lifestyle-influencing. McCain screamed that cooking is elitist! Well, now McCain is on a tear about Duchess Meg?s As Ever brand announcement.
Meghan McCain went after Meghan Markle ? again ? during the premiere of her ?Happy Hour? online series Wednesday and specifically criticized Markle?s lifestyle brand, As Ever.
?She apparently never listens to anyone living in reality,? the conservative commentator, 40, said about the Duchess of Sussex, 43.
McCain told her guests, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and journalist Mary Katharine Ham, that she thought the original title of Markle?s company, American Riviera Orchard, ?was a terrible name to begin with.? After showing the Instagram video from Monday of Markle announcing her As Ever brand, McCain said that she ?cannot stand? the ?Suits? alum.
?I love people that I can relate to, like every other 40-year-old mom,? said McCain. ?I don?t want to eat her jam. I love Princess Kate. I don?t know what she?s doing. This is like her ninth rebrand. I actually had to review her show and her podcast, and it was horrible. It was so boring. I would not tell her to do any of this stuff,? McCain added of Markle. ?I would have a whole different idea of how to help her career.?
Markle changed the name of her lifestyle business after dealing with a slew of trademark snafus, while unveiling a new website and logo for her business venture.
?I used to really like her,? McCain said about Markle, explaining that now she thinks the duchess and Prince Harry are ?boring? and don?t understand ?transparency.?
The former ?The View? co-host then praised Markle and Harry?s estranged sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who is now on the other side of her cancer battle. ?I think it?s cause my dad died of cancer, I was really rooting for her and I was so sad about it,? said McCain. ?We?re basically the same age and I?m just [team] Princess Kate forever now. That?s just me.?

I actually love when these salty white folks act as if they?re being forced to pay attention to Duchess Meghan or that they are required to have an opinion. While Duchess Megh is a public figure and it?s fair to speak about her public announcements and public moves, at least be honest about why you?re paying attention to her: because she?s that girl, because you want to see what she does next. Mindy Kaling is showrunner and creator of a new show called Running Point. It?s loosely based on the real-like Lakers president Jeanie Buss, but with a Mindy Kaling-flare. It stars Kate Hudson as a party-girl heiress who has to assume the management of her family?s NBA team. It?s got a dash of Succession, because she has loutish brothers. Plus a dash of Ted Lasso, because it?s also about the team and the players. Time Magazine profiled Mindy about the show and she ended up talking a lot about possibly getting back into acting and how she filmed an episode of the Duchess of Sussex?s With Love, Meghan. This is the second time Mindy has done something with Meghan Mindy also appeared on Archetypes, and now the Netflix show. Mindy is a big squadie, I think. Some highlights from Time:
How ?Running Point? came to be: ?It was actually Jeanie Buss who reached out because she liked The Mindy Project and The Office. So many people write about her and make shows where she?s a tertiary character. She was like, ?I run this. I want to be a producer on a show about my own life.? She is so open. We consult her for real-life details all the time. There have been very specific players or very specific people in her personal life where she?ll say, ?Maybe we won?t touch upon that,? but she says that far less than any other person I?ve ever known. She really gave Ike Barinholtz, Dave Stassen, and I carte blanche on her life because she wanted it to be funny. And she knew the realer it gets, the funnier it will be.?
On Kate Hudson?s rom-com queen credentials: ?Kate Hudson and other rom-com stars?like Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock?are the type of people who can say tough things, and you don?t dislike them for saying it. We?re really stealing that for her in this boss role because shes a tough employer. Also, Kate is so iconically L.A. She?s from her own Hollywood dynasty. She has known Jeanie since she was a kid. She has been going to Lakers games since she was little. She is really involved in that L.A. world.
Whether Mindy will ever come back to acting: ?Thank you for asking. I always feel flattered when people remember that I?m a performer since it?s been such a long time. Every show that we?ve done, I?ve been tempted. Never Have I Ever was literally about an Indian-American family living in Southern California. If I can?t cast myself in this world, I don?t know when I will. But nobody was writing, ?Where?s Mindy? Why isn?t she on the show?? Maybe it?s better to not be in them. Right now I have three kids under the age of 7, but I miss it. I would like to return to screen in the next couple years.?
How she appears in ?With Love, Meghan?: ?I was on maternity leave with my daughter in March and April, and Meghan texted me that she was doing a show where she was going to cook for her friends. Would I want to come to Montecito and have her cook for me? I wanted to get taken care of in that moment of my life. That was a fun maternity leave field trip. And I left with a basket of fresh produce and homemade jam and hot sauce because she knew I loved hot sauce. She?s a very generous woman who knew I needed a break.?
Whether she picked up any hosting tips from Meghan: ?Spoiler alert: I did. The theme was throwing a party for children. I love cooking, but I?m really not good at entertaining. I don?t know anything about how you?re not supposed to use overhead lighting when people come over. You?re supposed to use little lamps. But Meghan just knows how to do that stuff. For kids? parties I usually just go to the party supply store and get paper things, which I don?t judge and neither does she. But it was fun to learn simple ways to do a homemade kids? party. I think a misconception about Meghan is that she?s in any way fussy or has expectations of fanciness. She really is a down-to-earth person who knows a lot of fun tricks to make entertaining and cooking easier.

One of my favorite sub-genre of Sussex stories is ?the Duchess of Sussex wore something and it changed the designer?s life.? It just happened a few weeks ago when Meghan wore a sweatshirt from the small, female-owned Chicago brand Club Chainstitch. Once the sweatshirt was identified, the owner of the brand had to come back from maternity leave early to deal with all of the orders she was getting. Well, it?s happened again. During the Invictus games, Meghan wore a small bracelet from another independent, female-owned brand, Valencia Key. The owner, Lia Valencia Key, was literally screaming with joy.
Meghan Markle left a jewellery designer shaking and screaming after she unexpectedly wore one of her pieces. While at the Invictus Games in Canada with Prince Harry last week, the Duchess of Sussex was clocked wearing a bracelet from small independent jewellery brand, Valencia Key. Meghan wore the piece stacked with her Cartier watch and tennis bracelet and was spotted as she applauded while watching the action at the tournament.
The piece, called the Joy bracelet costs $125 (99) and reportedly sold out within four hours of Meghan being spotted wearing it in Vancouver. And founder and owner of the brand, Lia Valencia Key, said when she found out Meghan had worn it, she was screaming and shaking.

Its not known exactly how Meghan came across the Valencia Key brand. However, last year in an interview with the New York Times, she revealed: I spend a lot of time just Googling, looking for brands. When people are online looking for things or reading things, I?m trying to find great new designers, especially in different territories.

I can?t even imagine what that feels like for a designer or brand founder, to be toiling away in relative obscurity, waiting for someone famous to wear something you designed, and then it?s the Duchess of Sussex who puts you on the map. Meghan, with all of the heat and attention she brings, especially with clothes, accessories and jewelry. I?m so happy for this designer.
There was also another piece of jewelry getting a lot of attention this week. In Meghan?s IG video announcement for As Ever, she wore jeans, a white blouse and a necklace with a special backstory. She wore a pendant necklace called the ?Heart of Gold? it was designed by Meghan?s friend Kelly McKee Zafjen, in collaboration with The Gold Album, to raise money for the Children?s Hospital Los Angeles. Gwyneth Paltrow has also been seen wearing the necklace.
