These are some photos from last October of Ashlee Simpson with her then-boyfriend, Evan Ross. Yes, that’s the one and only Diana Ross in pink. They were all at the TLC: Crazy, Sexy, Cool screening. Ashlee and Evan had just begun dating, and they announced their engagement in January. E! Online says they will marry at Diana’s Greenwich, Connecticut estate on August 31. That’s pretty speedy.
Ashlee and Evan seem pretty low key as a couple. She’s been though the fuss of a wedding once before to Pete Wentz. I still remember Papa Joe’s rollout of that relationship. Pete and Ashlee were just kids, and they didn’t last long. Radar Online says that Ashlee is keen to avoid all the buzz of her first wedding. She also wants to keep things simple the second time around, unlike Jessica’s glitzy vows. Ashley is also letting their tantrum-throwing mom call most of the shots. Good plan, Ash:

RadarOnline.com has learned the laid-back bride-to-be is insisting on “enjoying” a “stress-free” planning process in the run-up to her big day.
?She actually doesn’t have wedding jitters,? a source told Radar. And it?s all because of her fashion designer sibling, who tied the knot with former NFL pro Eric Johnson July 5 at Montecito?s luxe San Ysidro Ranch during a lavish wedding weekend in front of 250 friends and family members.
“Seeing how much went into planning Jessica?s wedding, Ashlee wants to take the time to enjoy the wedding process and every minute before it comes,” added the source.
In fact, Pete Wentz?s ex, who?s slated to say “I do” with Diana Ross?s son, actor Evan Ross, 25, over Labor Day weekend at the legendary singer?s Connecticut estate, would rather leave all the details to everyone else.
“She loves that her mother is assisting with planning the wedding,” continued the source.
But, despite being care-free — and stress-free — about her nuptials, there is one must-have on Ashlee?s checklist.
“All she wants is Diana to sing at the wedding,” said the source.

That’s a cool touch for Ashlee to ask Diana to sing. That way both Ashlee and Evan’s moms both do their part, and I agree with the low-stress plan. Weddings are stressful enough already. A second one should be simpler than the first. It will probably still be expensive. Ashlee seems to be rushing into another marriage, but I could be wrong. I don’t know much about Evan except that he’s Diana’s son, and he has a small role in the Mockingjay films. As we keep seeing, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are really, really loved up. It?s disconcerting for all of us out here in the cheap seats, but I?ll give them both a little bit of credit. Sean genuinely seems to have chilled out a great deal with Charlize and it?s like we?re seeing a whole new (nice? happy?) person. As for Charlize? would she stick with it if she wasn?t getting something out of it? No. She would not. So, Charlize and Sean are real. And they are serious. How serious? Sources claim that they could marry very soon, and Charlize wants to adopt another kid.
Oscar-winning couple Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have a lot on their agenda during their time in her native South Africa this summer: Shoot new drama The Last Face (he’s directing, she’s starring); get married; adopt a child together.
“They want to get married very soon,” a source tells Us Weekly of the couple’s wedding plans. Theron, 38, “always intended to have another child,” a Penn confidante adds of the actress, already mom to adopted son Jackson, 2.
Eighteen years of friendship and eight months of dating have proven to Theron, 38, that Penn is a father figure. ?Charlize has seen Sean grow up? he?s a wiser soul and much more patient.?
53-year-old Penn, meanwhile, is already dad to Dylan, 23, and Hopper, 20, with ex-wife Robin Wright. Sean has ?become a strong role model? to Charlize?s son Jackson.
A second source notes that Penn has babyproofed his Malibu home and set up a room for Jackson as well. ?They?re looking to the future with a lot of hope!?
“Sean is revitalized with Charlize,” the source says of Penn, who began dating Theron about eight months ago after 18 years of friendship. (It would be the third marriage for Penn, who famously wed Madonna in the late 1980s, and the first for Theron, who split from longtime partner Stuart Townsend in 2010.)

Well? if it happens, it happens. I don?t think Charlize really cares about marriage, weddings or being a bride. Although perhaps the Penn Dong has changed her mind. It might be a logistics thing too ? it might be easier for them to adopt a second child if they?re married. Right? Married couples are still given priority over single adoptive parents, I believe. Still? it will be very weird to think of Sean and Charlize as husband and wife. Ugh. I hope she knows what she?s doing.

Reese Witherspoon has gotten pap?d like crazy the past four or five days. She?s been on location for a month or so (in New Orleans I think) filming a movie with Sofia Vergara, so I guess the paps just got pap-happy when she arrived back in LA. They got her in various cute outfits, and I?m sure this all part of the Reese?s re-branding. She is no longer the prim and proper Good Girl. She?s a sexy multi-hyphenate and Hollywood power broker. Something like that.
So, how is the rebrand going? She?s going to launch Draper James, her Southern-Goop lifestyle website and store, she?s growing her social media presence and she?s in the market for another Oscar. Will it work? Maybe. Reese is about to have a HUGE year with multiple prestige-films coming out within the span of like four months.
Here?s what she?s got coming out this fall: The Devil?s Knot (she plays the mother of a murder victim who sets out to find out what really happened to her son), The Good Lie (a woman who adopts Sudanese refugee), Wild (that stupid looking hiking movie), and Inherent Vice, which is Paul Thomas Anderson?s latest ensemble film. Inherent Vice is premiering at the New York Film Festival right after Gone Girl, which Reese produced. I?m telling you? she?s going to have a HUGE year. This is why she married Jim Toth, who must have a hand in this re-branding. This is why she?s growing her social media presence and why she?s getting pap?d so much. Reese is looking to make the most out of all of this. And she wants to get another Oscar nomination (if not an award).

Clearly enjoying her newly married status, Jessica Simpson shared a sweet snap shot with her husband Eric Johnson over the weekend.
The 34-year-old posted pictures to her Instagram account from the pair's honeymoon at the Four Seasons Punta Mita Resort in Mexico. Jess followed up the photos with the caption, "I love this man, our marriage, and everything in between."
Jess and Eric shared their vows in a ?Great Expectations? themed gathering on July 5 at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California with 275 guests.
This is the second marriage for both. They share two children together, son Ace Knute and daughter Maxwell Drew.

Just FYI, I would much rather cover THIS STORY at Variety which is the Queen?s Guard covering the Game of Thrones theme music. But this is what we get. George Clooney taking a victory lap because he likes to ?slap those bad guys.? Seriously. I guess it?s smart ? George picked a fight with The Daily Mail and instead of letting the controversy slip away, George is declaring victory and dancing a jig about it. George gave an interview to Variety, apparently conducted over the phone while he?s in Como, planning his wedding. George is SO weird these days, right? He literally just called Variety to talk about his fight with the Daily Mail.
?It?s just fun to slap those bad guys every once in a while, knock ?em around,? George Clooney told Variety Friday about triumphing in his spat with British tabloid the Daily Mail? Clooney, the son of newsman Nick Clooney, has held journalism in high regard (as seen in his film ?Good Night, and Good Luck?). So while he says he understands that some tabloids have always made things up, he is concerned about bigger issues than the Daily Mail?s lies about himself or even his family.
Speaking by phone from Lake Como in Italy, Clooney said ?I would sit with my friends and we?d just go, ?So they just sat at a computer and just went, ?OK, this is what I?m gonna say today.? I mean, literally, because you just go ?There isn?t literally an element of truth in this.? You just laugh, and let it go. I?m used to it after all these years. But the thing that bothers me is how much the Daily Mail is now bleeding into American press and becoming a source for some pretty legitimate newspapers. So that?s the thing that worries me.?
?Those are really bad guys and they do tend to tee off on everybody,? said Clooney. ?It?s fun when you can go, ?Well, this one, I know I have all the facts right.? Usually the argument is: ?Hey, we?re not gonna tell you our source,? and, ?Prove it.? And when they actually do it themselves it?s so great. You go, ?OK, well you obviously just screwed this (up), so I think I can get you now.?
The actor-activist said he?s learned that he has to choose his battles, whether it?s choosing which atrocities in East Africa to spotlight or which lies out of London to object to. ?That?s why you pick your fights at a tabloid. Every day they write things that aren?t true, but every once in a while they write something that is actually dangerous to your family, and it?s probably not true. And that?s the one you pick.?
Of his engagement to activist-lawyer-author Amal Alamuddin, Clooney quipped ?I?m marrying up.?

Sigh? as I said before, George had every right to bash the Daily Mail. He had every right to set the record straight. He had every right to file a lawsuit (but he didn?t). But I don?t understand why he?s still talking about this. It sort of feels like George is trying to strengthen his political/journalistic/intellectual credibility ? with top human rights barrister Amal Alamuddin at his side, naturally ? but at the end of the day, it?s kind of bad media management. Maybe I?m alone in thinking that.
By the way, I hope everybody saw Amal?s graduation photo ? go here to see it. I?m not going to make fun of her for that stupid wig. I will make fun of Britain for still making barristers wear those stupid wigs though. I realize it?s ?tradition? but enough already.

I actually think Beyonce?s Tumblr is broken ? it?s sort of disorganized, new photos keep disappearing and she hasn?t updated the ?My Work? or the ?My Life? sections in months. Instead, she just keeps posting (and deleting?) photos to the main page. And there?s still a button for the ?Mrs. Carter Tour? which ended months ago. Why hasn?t it been changed to the On the Run Tour? Beyonce needs to hire some people to fix her Tumblr, that?s all I?m saying.
Anyway, as we keep hearing from the tabloids, Bey and Jay?s marriage is really rocky these days. Basically, everything that happened after Solange beat Jay-Z in the elevator is NOT GOOD. Some say ?divorce in inevitable.? Some say that they?re just having problems and they?re working through it with the help of counselors. Now Page Six says that Jay is the one fighting for this marriage to work:
Beyonc and Jay Z have more than 99 problems and only ?divine intervention? can save the troubled marriage, a source close to the powerful couple has told The Post.
While Jay Z seemingly is the one most at fault, he?s also the one doing all in his power to keep the couple together, even hiring marriage counselors who are believed to be traveling with the super duo on their tour, the source said.
?They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing .?.?. This is a huge concert tour and they?ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front,? the source said.
Despite the tens of millions the couple will pocket from the current tour, this will certainly be their last and the end of the tour could officially spell the end of the marriage, the source said.
?There are no rings, if you haven?t noticed,? the source said, admitting that he thought things would get better after the birth of the couple?s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
?For just a split moment, things got real for them and she was even talking about adding to the family,? the source said. ?But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn?t.?

What still amazes me is that it only took a few minutes of grainy-ass security video to mortally wound a previously untouchable couple like Beyonce and Jay. Seriously, no one had anything bad to say about them because they were so controlled and controlling of their image. Now it?s open season. Anyway, I?ll buy that they?re having issues and I?ll buy that ?Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey.? I think that?s their deal. I think that?s how their marriage has always worked.
Oh, and I didn?t realize that Beyonce was hired to do the song for Fifty Shades of Grey! She teased the song on her Instagram:

Scarlett Johansson has been keeping quiet lately. Like, for the past two months or so, she?s been able to step back in a big way. It?s nice. It?s allowed us to examine other sketchy/fishy couplings, like George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. But that doesn?t mean that ScarJo?s engagement to Romain Dauriac is any less shady, just that she?s not trying to convince us that this is the grandest love affair in the world or that they?re #initforlife. But shock of all shocks, Scarlett and Romain are going through with the wedding. SOON.
Pregnant Scarlett Johansson is marrying Romain Dauriac in just a few weeks, she revealed at an elegant dinner thrown by Martha Stewart at her East Hampton estate. The glowing actress, who was engaged to French journalist Dauriac in September last year and announced they were expecting a baby in March, was overheard saying at Saturday?s gathering that they are getting married in four weeks.
The August wedding venue is being kept a secret, but the speculation is that Johansson will opt for a very private ceremony in Dauriac?s native Paris, or perhaps in the Hamptons, where the couple has been spending much of the summer. Johansson?s much-anticipated Luc Besson sci-fi movie ?Lucy? opens on Friday, so the 29-year-old actress will be busy promoting the flick before the wedding and the imminent birth of their first child.
The happy couple slipped into Stewart?s party, and sat across from the domestic doyenne for the seated dinner on her porch, whipped up by her private chef. It was Stewart?s first party at the house in 20 years, and marked the launch of Dom Prignon?s P2-1998, a vintage that retails for, gulp, $400 a bottle.

I can?t help but think of Blake Lively. It?s because of the mention of Martha Stewart ? Blake gushed about Martha in her Vogue interview and Martha even gave some quotes to Vogue about Blake. And now ScarJo is hanging out with Martha in the Hamptons? Maybe Martha will help organize Scarlett?s wedding, just like Blake?s. How does it always come back to Ryan Reynolds? It?s so weird. Anyway, if Scarlett and Romain are really going to get married next month? good for them, I guess. Do I have to care that much? I doubt it will last more than a couple of years anyway. She just wants to marry someone French and live in Paris for a short time, because that?s part of the fantasy she?s created for herself. JMO.

The more Anna Paquin talks, the more I respect her. (Although unlike Bedhead I’m not a fan of her new multicolored hair.) She’s been open and honest for years about the fact that she’s bisexual, and about the fact that she’s happily married to a man. Anna was a guest on Huffpo live, where she was asked about her recent tweet declaring that she’s “proud to be a happily married bisexual mother.” She got a little nervous and stammered at first, but she recovered quickly and explained herself very well. On why she tweeted about it
It was Pride Month… It’s something I feel very strongly about and it’s as good as I can do within the Twitter [character limit].
On the stigma bisexual people face
There’s people that are going to go to their grave thinking what they think about the LGBT community. That’s their problem not mine. And there’s people that think that monogamy and bisexuality are mutually exclusive. Again, their problem not mine. The reason I feel like it’s important to talk about this stuff is that the more normal and, frankly, mundane and boring this stuff becomes the better it’s going to be for everybody who is part of our community.
On if negative reactions surprised her
There’s a lot of hateful people out in the world who have very strong opinions. You know when you stick your neck out on certain topics that some people are going to go ‘yay’ and some people are going to say some of the most vile things… nothing surprised me.

That was very well said and I agree with her. It’s ridiculous to me that people think that bisexuality has anything to do with promiscuity, or that they assume that bisexual people cannot be monogamous. Those two things have nothing to do with one another. Sexual orientation falls on a spectrum, and people who are in the middle have been ostracized and misunderstood for too long. Anna is sticking her neck out as she mentioned and good for her.
Mild spoilers for last night’s True Blood follow
Let’s switch gears so we can talk about True Blood. We’re halfway through the final season and last night’s episode was somewhat of a departure from the scary, dangerous Bon Temps we’re used to. (Yes there was a bloodbath at the end, but it was a bunch of random people we’re not attached to.) The majority of the episode took place at a party at Sookie’s house, which also served as a memorial service for Alcide and Tara. The show skipped around much less than we’re used to, and had a different, more relaxed feel. We got to learn more about Bill’s backstory as an objector to the Civil War. Lafayette and James hooked up, leading a jilted Jessica and Jason to hook up. There were also some excellent one-liners as we’ve come to expect. (“I look like a Republi-cunt”). It turns out that the episode was penned by a new writer, Craig Chester, who hasn’t been credited with a True Blood episode until now. I really enjoyed this change of pace. E! Here are some photos of LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian ?on vacation? in Miami, Florida (they were in Miami at the same time as Leonardo DiCaprio ? coincidence?! Probably.) There were more graphic photos of LeAnn but I chose not to use them because A) we?ve seen her bolt-ons in a bikini many times before, B) she really wanted everybody to get a good look at her bolt-ons this weekend and her boobs were pretty much falling out and C) because gross. Besides, she wasn?t doing anything particular sexy ? her phone was in her hand pretty much the whole time, where I suspect she was obsessively reading tweets and/or tweeting from an account which hasn?t been discovered yet. I especially like the photos of Eddie leaning back, checking out all the ladies in bikinis (not his wife).
Perhaps this Miami trip is their victory lap after a super-successful reality show debut? Haha. LeAnn tweeted this over the weekend:

How many episodes did VH1 order again? Do you think that, in LeAnn?s mind, she?s now a legitimate reality star (just like Brandi) and everybody is obsessed with her life (like Brandi) and she?s going to make lots of money from her reality show (like Brandi)? I don?t even know anymore.
As for the show, a lot of you pointed out this Washington Post article/review of the VH1 show. It is harsh. And justifiably so. The show is a mess. A bigger mess than Spitfire.

Leonardo DiCaprio has had the summer off. I think he usually paces his projects so he gets summers off, but he?s really been partying a lot this summer in particular. He?s been in Brazil for the World Cup, he?s been in France for the Cannes Film Festival, he?s been in LA with his bros, and now he?s in Miami? not doing much but hanging out on the beach. With his bros, I suspect. I wonder how many of Leo?s friends just get to travel around the world every summer on his dime?
Anyway, as you can see, Leo has not been working out this summer. He is not adhering to any diet either. He doesn?t look so bad when he?s standing up (except for the too-high towel wrap, which is so weirdly modest), but when he?s sitting down? well?it?s kind of noticeable. I?m not actively trying to body-shame him or anything. I mean, hey, he?s on vacation, he?s having a good time, what?s it to me? But just imagine this was a major actress who had ?let herself go? while on vacation. These photos would be splashed across every media outlet and then there would be the backlash to the attention, with feminist essays about body-shaming culture and how it hurts women (which is true). But are we going to go through that pattern when it?s Leo? Will these photos of Leo make the cover of People with the headline, ?Stop Calling Me Fat!??
Other Leo stuff? he?s going to produce a TV miniseries about Charles Lindberg. The miniseries was written by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black. And Leo is fighting with a memorabilia dealer over a signed photo of Leo and Nelson Mandela (which Mandela intended to send to Leo but never got to him).
