Carmen Electra really needs no introduction. You know her fromBaywatchbut probably best from that poster you had hanging over your bed in college. Recently, she’s restarted her music career. Here she tells us a little bit about her new track and punching sharks in the nose.
You’ve been in the entertainment industry for a while. How’s it feel to last this long?
Persistence is the key to longevity. If you want something bad enough you will work hard until you get it. Plus I have the best fans ever and it?s their support that helps me keep pushing!
You’ve done TV, movies, modeling and now music. Which has been your favorite?
I can?t choose one over the other. I feel music is your own expression, in movies you?re playing a role and modeling is sort of like painting a picture.
If a child was drowning, could you use your Baywatch knowledge to save them?
I did learn CPR on the show. If anyone was in danger, I would try to help, especially if it was a child. But lets face it ? truth is my lifeguard skills aren?t great so I may try to save someones life and end up drowning in the process.
What if they were about to be attacked by a shark? Would you punch it in the nose? The shark, not the child.
As a huge fan of shark week, I have learned that you are supposed to hit them in the nose (the shark, not the child!), but I would probably grab a real lifeguard to do the dirty work!
You’re restarting your music career. How did that come about?
It all started with a handful of people who believed in me and were constantly saying ?you love music, this is what you want, just do it!? so I decided to give it a shot in a very low-key home studio. There was no pressure, we were just having fun. It didn?t truly set in until I was booked for my first performances of ?I Like It Loud,? in NYC.
What kind of music do you listen to? What’s your favorite genre?
It depends on my mood. Sometimes hiphop, dance music, rock or heavy metal. Different music motivates me in different ways ? its whatever I?m feeling at the time.
You have a follow-up song to I Like it Loud called Bigger Dick. Did you do extensive research on this?
HAHAHA!! No. Maybe you have the wrong idea about the song!
What’s the message of the song? I mean, no one likes a braggart.
This has nothing to do with bragging, I am so not that kind of person. Its saying I?m not going to be passive anymore, so if someone is mistreating you, get the courage to do something about it and stand up for yourself.
So when can we expect your album to drop?
Currently in the studio recording!
Out of all the celebrity competition shows (DWTS, Splash, The Apprentice, etc) which would you most rather do and how do you think you’d fare?
I would be more interested in shooting a reality show than being on a competition show. I was entered into dance competitions from the ages of 5 to 17 so it feels more exciting to try something different!
Say you were told you had 24 hours to live, what would be the last thing you’d do and what would be the last thing you’d eat?
I would have a raging party with all my friends and family and I would eat lots of sweets and go out celebrating life! I would definitely go out with a bang!
Any future projects, besides music, coming up?
I just finished shooting 2 movies, ?The Book of Fire,? and ?Monica,? and I am about to head to Vienna to perform in the Life Ball.

Jennifer Love Hewitt covers the May/June issue of Women’s Running to promote “The Client List.” I think JLH is a total sweetheart, and she’s eternally cute with a banging bod, but ugh, is Women’s Running really going the celebrity route? I’m used to them featuring either elite athletes or civilian cover girls like last year’s Nov/Dec model, Dorothy Beal, who is a stay-at-home mom of three kids and has run 24 marathons. Beal was last year’s female winner of the B&A trail marathon, for crying out loud. Now the magazine has got JLH vamping it up in the editiorial.
Not that I want to sound like a running snob or anything (as I still haven’t run a full marathon myself) — I just find the above photo to be utterly hilarious and out of place in a training-based magazine. Oh well, let’s do some interview excerpts:
Her exercise routine: “I do yoga, a little bit of Pilates and obviously running on an incline is great. So I try to go back and fourth between all those things.”
Why she runs: “My mom was a runner. I enjoy running, but she was a runner. She loved it and was able to go miles and miles and miles, you know, was crazy about it. The first I did a big run was the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Los Angeles [in 2010]. It was a blast – I absolutely loved it. What you put your body through is incredible, how sore you are the next day is quite crazy. But the benefits of it, cardiovascular-wise, body-wise, toning-wise, all of that, there’s nothing really that gets you in shape like [a race].”
On her curves: “I do find that as a curvy girl, as I guess I’ve sort of been deemed, I don’t think you want to run your curves off, because then you’re just not yourself. But it definitely helps your butt, that’s for sure. It helps with the badonk-a-donk!”
On the pressure of Hollywood: “I’m an actress, I live in L.A., I work in Hollywood. But I’ve learned that if you’re too skinny, they’ll say something about it. If you’re not skinny enough, they’ll say something about it. I just try to feel good in my own skin as much as I can.”

You know, I just wish that JLH would be honest here and admit that she runs (or at least started running) to stave off the weight. Most women runners (myself included) started for that very purpose, and there’s nothing wrong with that! Then you get sucked in by how good the sport makes you feel, and hopefully you won’t get injured along the way.
As for Jennifer Love’s statements on embracing her curves, I don’t know if I believe her. This is a woman who readily believes her own Photoshop. This is a woman who famously played tennis in a bikini so that she could sort of validate all of her size 2 claims. JLH has a fantastic body, but I don’t think that (boobs aside) she really loves her curves at all.

Julianne Moore covers the June issue of DuJour magazine, and every time I’m reminded that she’s 52 years old, I go into a bit of shock. Of course, I am notoriously awful at guessing people’s ages, but with Julianne, I honestly don’t see how she’s a year over 40. She looks fantastic, and she has a healthy attitude about aging too. Overall, DuJour’s photoshoot is rather underwhelming, but this particular black-and-white shot is immaculate.
In the interview (titled “The Most Honest Actress in Hollywood”), Julianne lets rip a little bit on how “boring” the topic of aging is. You can tell that she’s pretty tired of discussing it, and I can’t blame her. As a culture, we are all obsessed with aging and trouble ourselves over silly things like fine lines and wrinkles. Of course, Julianne has even more exposure to that line of thinking because she’s in an industry where looks are (almost) everything. Here are some excerpts:
On aging: “I just think that it?s boring! I don?t say that to you – I say that to everyone. Our fear of aging is really a fear of dying; aging is a physical manifestation of decay, and I think that is what?s so upsetting to most people.”
: “Men aren?t asked about age. Men aren?t asked about their children. Not that these things aren?t important, but I do feel like it becomes reductive when a woman?s life becomes, ‘Talk to me about your kids and how you feel about plastic surgery.’”
On her husband, Bart: “We are a family. We are emotionally responsible for one another, so we wanted to be legally responsible for one another, too. (It’s) something that I always wanted to do,’ Julianne says. ‘I didn?t know if I?d get married–I just didn?t innately feel like that was something I could be goal-oriented about–but I knew that I wanted to have children.”
On over-40 roles: “I do think that there?s interesting stuff out there, and it?s not anybody?s job to find it for me but mine. You?re always responsible for trying to figure out what to do with your own career.”

I love that last sentiment. So many actresses whine about the lack of career prospects over age 40, but Julianne refuses to play the victim. While it’s true that male actors tend to peak much later in their careers, women can still go strong as long as their talent (and decision-making skills) will take them.
Julianne also has a definite point about how women get asked all the aging & family-oriented question in interviews. That just comes with the territory and is part of appealing to the fan-based demographic.

So the trailer is out for Jennifer Aniston?s new movie, We?re the Millers. I guess this is supposed to be dirty? This is supposed to be like a gross-out R-rated Judd Apatow-type of comedy? Eh. Are we sure that Jason Sudeikis is interesting enough to be a comedic leading man? Because I?m not sure. I will accept Sudeikis as a supporting character, of course. But I just don?t know if he?s pulling this off. As for Jennifer? she?s playing a 40-something stripper with wigs and lingerie and booty shakes and vulgarity. And I?m not sure she?s pulling it off either.

Oh, Miley. I just don’t know what to do with you anymore.
Don’t get me wrong. I adore Miley Cyrus. My daughter still holds fond memories of “Hannah Montana” even though Miley herself would sooner forget that show’s run than appreciate the millions of dollars that arrived with being a bona fide Disney sensation. Now that Miley is 20, I can appreciate her new look, and she’s a very cute young woman who holds potential in some entertainment field. Yet Miley is still pimping her autotuned music in which her singing voice sounds exactly like her talking voice. That is, a bit nasally and not exceptional at all.
This is not to mention Miley’s recent tendency to deliver ridiculous interview wherein she makes fun of the starlets who try to be sexy. She unironically says all of this while exposing her ass crack immediately after she told Elle UK that sexy photo shoots are dumb: “A star is someone who doesn?t have to take her clothes off to be sexy because you naturally have star power. Sex does sell, but you have to find a way that?s not just showing your tits.”
Now we arrive at the promotional photos for Miley’s upcoming single, “We Can’t Stop.” Honestly, I don’t even need to hear what this song sounds like. I already know what it sounds like. What I do need to know is why Miley is dressing in a barely-there monokini (that shows everything but the nips) to promote this song. She’s letting us all know that, unlike Gwyneth Paltrow, she is not rocking a ’70s vibe.

In a video released earlier in the day, Wilde, Bono, and Richard Branson pledge to forego bathroom conveniences until the problem is solved.
The trio declared, "We won't go to the bathroom until everyone in the world has access to clean water and sanitation."
