Angelina Jolie is a big Broadway producer now, on the musical adaptation of The Outsiders. Angelina?s daughter Vivienne is apparently a huge theater/musical-theater geek, which we realized when Vivienne dragged her mother to easily a dozen regional performances of Dear Evan Hansen. Well, now that Angelina is a Broadway producer, she gets invited to other Broadway opening nights. Which is what happened last night Angelina and Vivienne came out to support Reefer Madness: The Musical. They posed with Kristen Bell, who produced this stage show.
Angelina?s outfit here is so cool a slim suit with a t-shirt, which has a print of a necktie. I love that she didn?t take off her shades too. Vivienne looks cute! I get the feeling that Vivienne is the ?normcore? kid, Shiloh is a full tomboy and Zahara is the girly-girl. All of those kids ride for their mom so hard. As we discussed, Vivienne has dropped ?Pitt? from her surname in the playbill for The Outsiders. Just this week, Shiloh filed paperwork to drop ?Pitt? from her name legally? on her 18th birthday. Zahara seems to have dropped Pitt from her name too, although it?s unclear if she?s done so legally.
Meanwhile, post-Cannes Film Festival, other festivals are trying to get some hype. The Venice Film Festival will likely host the global premieres of Joker 2: Folie a Deux AND Pablo Larrain?s Maria. Thats the Larrain-style bio-pic of Maria Callas, starring Angelina. Angelina in Venice towards the end of the summer? I hope it happens!

| Kristen Bell's kids order non-alcoholic beers at restaurants: 'judge me if you want' | Added 486 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

It is still so funny to me that Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard make this big deal about ?protecting their children from being photographed,? yet they are constantly telling their kids? business to everyone. While I have no idea what Delta and Lincoln Shepard look like, I already know way too much about them, including how infrequently they bathe, and how they don?t shower until they ?stink.? Well, for years, Kristen has been telling everyone that her kids drink non-alcoholic beers. She told the story again this week while appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and Kristen added a new twist. Her daughters (aged 8 and 9 years old) actually order non-alcoholic beer in restaurants now.
Kristen Bells kids have very mature taste. While appearing on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Good Place actress, 43, chatted with host Kelly Clarkson, 41, about letting her two daughters ? Delta, 8, and Lincoln, 9 ? drink non-alcoholic beers.
Although she admitted that it sounds insane, Bell said that context is important, since her 48-year-old husband Dax Shepard is a recovering addict.
Hes a recovering addict, Bell said of Shepard, but he likes non-alcoholic beer, so hed pop one open, hed have [our oldest daughter] on his chest, and wed walk and look at the sunset, she told Clarkson. As a baby, she was pawing at it, and sometimes shed suck the rim of it. So I think it feels to her like something special, something daddy, something family.
Bell went on to say that the drinks contain zero percent alcohol and that since establishing this routine, her kids have asked for non-alcoholic beer at restaurants.
Weve been at restaurants where shes said, Do you have any non-alcoholic beer? And Im like, maybe we just keep that for home time, said the actress.
But then Im sort of like, you can judge me if you want, Im not doing anything wrong, added Bell. Thats your problem.
[From People]
Kids that age just want to feel like grownups and they copy their parents? behavior too. I loved ordering Shirley Temples when I was a kid because it felt like I was ordering a cocktail, like I was a grownup. I?ve seen teenagers order virgin pina coladas too, because it feels like a thrill, like they?re doing something naughty. Technically, Kristen is right it?s not like she?s doing anything wrong. I mean, except for telling her daughters? business to everyone. She and Dax should introduce their kids to Shirley Temples.

| Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are going to host a game show produced by Ellen | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have been trying to find the next phase of their careers for a while. Dax tried his hand at a TV series, Bless This Mess, but I guess I was the only person who liked that show. He?s seems pretty content with his podcast, though. Kristen still has healthy Disney ties. But she definitely has that strike-while-the-iron-is-hot approach to cementing something for her future. She has her #Momsplaining show on YouTube, but that?s not her cash cow. It?s obvious that Kristen is trying to secure some kind of talk show deal. Kristen constantly hovers near Ellen DeGeneres. So near, that when Ellen?s future looked questionable over the summer, Kristen?s name was floated frequently as Ellen?s replacement. However, since Kristen did not come for Ellen?s crown as her head was bowed, Ellen rewarded her ? big time. It was announced yesterday that Ellen is giving Kristen and Dax their own game show called Family Game Fight! Here was the announcement on Ellen?s show:
[From YouTube via Pajiba]
The gist of it is that Kristen and Dax will host a competition show in which two ?families? compete against each other. I put families in quotations because Kristen and Dax clarified it doesn?t have to be in the traditional sense, the competitors can define family on their own terms, which is cool. Ellen said the show idea was inspired by the game Taste Buds that Kristen and Dax played on her show, which is a blind taste guessing game. It sounds like Family Game Fight! will be a collection of different competitions and not just Taste Buds, which is good because Taste Buds is kind of dumb. But the difference between this and Ellens Game of Games is that Kristen and Dax will not only host Family Game Fight!, they?ll be playing too. On opposite teams.
This sounds like a great vehicle for them. Their weird, chaotic dynamic as a couple translates well in competition. Kristen is wildly competitive and, as she said in the announcement, she tunes out, which could lead to some funny outbursts. And I don?t think Dax cares that much, so he?ll be the perfect foil for Kristen?s adrenaline rush. Plus, for all of her faults, Kristen can take a joke, which plays well with Dax?s deadpan sarcasm. So this could work as long as it stays friendly and doesnt get mean.
I said above that Ellen rewarded Kristen for not kicking the chair out from under her when she was vulnerable. But I do recognize that Ellen is keeping her friends close and her enemies closer. Ellen knows who is being eyed to replace her. If she tucks her replacements away in cushy little game show hosting jobs, she contains the threat? for now.

| Kristen Bell's new children's book is a variation on 'I don't see color' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kristen Bell has a new children?s book out called The World Needs More Purple People. Her message tells kids to be ?purple people,? which she presents as this trans-racial concept that teaches children to look for similarities before differences. People are pointing out that it sounds just like white people dismissing any criticism of racism by saying ?I don?t see color? and ?I don?t care if you?re purple.? It?s an antiquated and harmful way of looking at race and many people are saying it makes kids feel like they have to fit in and be small instead of being themselves. It basically tells them to stay positive and turn themselves into a ?purple person.? One of the lines toward the end is ?purple people come in every color you can dream of, and every size you can think of. The only way to be purple is just be you.? It sounds like shes saying ?We?re all the same honey. Let?s all just be positive and not pay attention to our differences. This may be well-intentioned, but its tone deaf, misses the point and tries to erase people.
You can see the book being read on YouTube here. The Independent has a good breakdown of the criticism of this book:
Actor Kristen Bell has been accused of writing a children?s book glorifying ?colourblindness? rather than acknowledging the differing life experiences of people of different races.
The Good Place stars book, The World Needs More Purple People, is about a ?purple person? who ?looks for similarities before differences?.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Bell said: ?The world loves debate, I do, and debate talks about differences. It?s layering difference upon difference upon difference, ?I think this?, ?no, you should think this?, it?s just constantly pointing out divisive narratives.
?Our kids are absorbing all of that and maybe we needed a bit of a road map to show them that it?s actually great to start with similarities first.?
She continued: ?Hopefully that will allow kids to have a little bit more of a social identity and be able to see similarities and through that have their mind opened by some people who they thought were different.?
However, her comments caused division on social media, as many people accused the actor of promoting ?colourblindness? rather than acknowledging that people of different races have very different life experiences.
?I don?t see colour?, the book,? one Twitter user joked, while another added: ??I don?t see colour? people need to go, be quiet, listen to actual people?s experiences, read some educational pieces instead of writing about nonsense.?
?Colourblindness isn?t the path forward,? a third person responded. ?I know she probably means well but she needs to get better people on her team who can give her a dose of reality.?
Some people pointed out the similarities between the purple character and the phrase ?I don?t care if you?re black, white, purple? which is often used to shut down conversations about racism, with one critic writing: ?The world does not need more fictional purple characters. We already have Barney and Tinky Winky.?
?You guys will do everything but teach your kids about racism against actual Black and brown people, because reality makes you ?uncomfortable,?? they continued, while another echoed: ?Justuse actual races instead????
[From Independent.co.uk]
I would ask how this book happened but we know how white publishing is, and who makes the decisions in that industry. Representation matters and there are so few Black leads and secondary characters in children?s literature. Plus it?s so much harder for Black authors to get published, and established best-selling Black authors get lower advances than novice white writers. (Also credit to Pixie Carlisles video.) This book was in the works before George Floyds murder, I saw her promoting it weeks ago and it came out earlier this month. First of all, it never should have been published, but someone at Random House should have at least pulled it when they realized the optics at this time!
Oh and Kristen also plays a biracial character on the Apple+ cartoon Central Park, by the creator of Bobs Burgers, Loren Bouchard. When trying to explain casting Kristen, Bouchard said that he always saw Kristen in the lead role, and he always saw the lead character as biracial. Then he went on to say that at least he hired women. (Of course he talked around it and thats my interpretation of his word salad.) I wonder if Kristen takes responsibility for that. I also wonder how and if shes going to address the criticism of this book. Shes tried to be an ally and I wonder if shell admit that this wasnt the way to do it.
I KNOW I didn?t see Kristen Bell in the ?I Take Responsibility? video when shes literally voicing a POC on tv. Go back to Arendelle please. pic.twitter.com/9gOha77arJ

| Kristen Bell in Dior at the Frozen 2 premiere: perfect and not too on-the-nose? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Ive only seen Frozen once! I consider myself lucky that way, although its quite good as far as kids films go. My son was slightly old for it and wasnt interested, but we watched it with my friend and her daughter who is a couple of years younger than him. My friend had seen it dozens of times at that point. I do not miss watching movies over and over again (Robots with Ewan Mcgregor is underrated FYI), but I miss taking my son to animated films we both enjoy like the How to Train Your Dragon movies and Moana was a more recent favorite. He goes to adult movies now and we can have adult conversations about them so Im trying to look on the bright side.
Here are some photos from the Frozen 2 premiere featuring Kristen Bell in a dusty Pink Dior gown with an deep keyhole bodice. I really like this look! Shes not theme dressing like a lot of the other cast and celebrities there and this has a regal and sophisticated vibe. The fit is perfection and the very interesting fabric is the standout. This is just the right amount of dress and her styling is gorgeous. I could gush about this.
Kristens onscreen sister, Idina Menzel, was in a formfitting white sequin Galvan. This dress is kind of a snooze but shes so pretty and look at her coupled up with Aaron Lohr! How cute are they? Theyve been married since 2017 and dating since 2015.
Evan Rachel Wood is in this, she plays Elsa and Annas mom. Her beige and silver embellished Pamella Roland gown is a little too on theme, but I would totally dress like an ice princess if I was in this movie, I love theme dressing. She looks so different and striking with longer dark hair. This dress fits her beautifully.
Oh and Sterling K. Brown is in it too! He plays a hot lieutenant. I just saw him on Kimmel and he wouldnt say if he sings or not, but come on you know he sings. Its cute how he and his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, and their kids are all in different shades of blue.
My girl Busy Philipps sometimes takes it too far. Shes fearless with her fashion though Ill give her that. Also she does not GAF and looks comfortable. Adorable shoes.
Selena Gomez and her little sister, Gracie, six, wore matching ice princess costumes and Im here for it! She needs to do more things with her little sister she looks so happy here.
Also included in the gallery are Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Martha Plimpton looking like a boss and Yvette Nicole Brown, love her!

Last week, Kristen Bell said in an interview that she uses fairy tales to help start discussions with her daughters about consent, women?s agency and more. Keira Knightley had just revealed that she doesn?t let her three-year-old daughter watch Disney movies like Cinderella or The Little Mermaid because they show women being rescued by men essentially. Kristen said that she does read those stories to her five and three-year-old daughters (it was unclear if she was responding to Keira or if it was just timely) but that she makes sure they talk about the issues raised, like a lack of consent to a kiss when the prince wakes up Snow White by kissing her or taking food from strangers when Snow White is coerced into eating the witch?s apple.
Well people came for Kristen because it?s the internet and the mommy wars are real. She had some thoughts for them.
Lets stick w/ the facts. u know NOTHING abt how I teach my children b/c weve never met, nor have u met my kids. But since u asked(read: sarcasm, b/c u weren't enlightened enough to actually ask):my kids r strong&fiesty &use critical thinking & noone plays the victim in our home.

Just yesterday we discussed Keira Knightley not allowing her daughter Edie, 3, to watch classic Disney films like Cinderella or The Little Mermaid because of the message that women need saving. More modern Disney stories with heroines who have self agency, like Moana and Frozen, are ok in Keiras house though. Frozen voice actress Kristen Bell and her husband Dax Shepard have two daughters, Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3. Kristen recently told Parents Magazine that while she doesnt ban those stories she does use them as talking points about consent.
On reading Snow White to her daughters
Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, Dont you think its weird that Snow White didnt ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple? I say, I would never take food from a stranger, would you? And my kids are like, No! And Im like, Okay, Im doing something right.
Dont you think that its weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission? Bell says she has asked her daughters. Because you can not kiss someone if theyre sleeping!
On using books to teach about feelings
Theres a book called Grumpy Monkey that we love that allows the monkey to be grumpy, even at the end. Other characters give him solutions but he decides hes still grumpy, Bell explains. Ive had that feeling, and I want my girls to know that youre allowed to feel it. Figure out ways to pick yourself up when you are ready. I really like that message.
On teaching Lincoln to read
I look at my childs brain like a hungry stomach. I have to feed it every day. Even if Im rushed, I have to feed their brain just like I feed their belly.
[From Parents]
Kristen spoke to Parents at an event for Baby2Baby, a Los Angeles-based charity which provides supplies to families in need. She also talked about the importance of teaching her daughters about charity, which is an issue that she often champions.
Its smart to point out the issues in the old fairy tales, which are based on 200 year old stories. Even more recent media can be obviously problematic. My son is a teenager and I recently thought it would be a good idea to rewatch some of the classic John Hughes movies I loved when I was his age. The issues with Sixteen Candles were especially glaring and he definitely noticed them too so we talked about it. So many of the stories and movies we loved as kids look completely different when we rewatch them now. I would talk Kristens approach and talk about it rather than ban any of those classic stories, but thats every parents decision. When a child is very young it might be the right approach not to let them watch it until theyre mature enough to understand.

Kristen Bell recently shared a post dedicated to her husbands 14th year of sobreity. Kristen and Dax Shepard have been married since 2013 and they have two daughters together: Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3. (They?ve been together since 2007, got engaged in 2009 and waited to get married until same sex marriage was legal again.) These two spearheaded the ?no kids policy? in 2014 which resulted in increased protections for children of celebrities baby. While they?ve shared embarrassing stories about their kids and traded on their family image to sell projects and products, they?ve never shared photos of their childrens faces on social media, which is admirable in a way. (Dax has shared a video of Lincoln riding a mini motorcycle and recently Kristen posted a photo walking Lincoln to kindergarten, shot from behind.) So it?s nice that Kristen posted some baby photos along with this message to Dax on his sobriety anniversary. Kristen used cute emojis to cover her childrens faces, which makes me think that her daughters are really happy and well behaved behind those cartoon faces. Heres what Kristen wrote:
To the man mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy, Who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible, Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down, I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it. I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night. You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when its needed most. You have become the fertilizer in the garden of our life, encouraging everyone to grow. I'm so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves. You have certainly inspired me to do so. I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you. I see how hard you work. You set an excellent example of being human. Happy 14th year sobriety birthday, @daxshepard. Xoxo

I realize that the post Kristen Bell made to Instagram is mostly about her husband?s sobriety anniversary of 14 years and what a great father he is, but I wanted to make the title different because my takeaway is that theyre sharing personal-ish photos.
