They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, and Emma Stone definitely experienced a windy wrath while out in New York City today (March 4).
The ?Easy A? actress got swept up in a gust as she made her way around Manhattan while chatting on her mobile phone.
Over the weekend, Emma and her boyfriend Andrew Garfield were hard at work on their new movie ?The Amazing Spider-Man 2? in Chinatown.
Of the flick, Stone told press, ?I?m very happy that our first one was received so well, it?ll be cool in the next one to see how Gwen and Peter bridge that distance that was between us at the end of it. I think the way it all unfolds is pretty neat. And I hope they continue letting Gwen be heroic, I think they might.?

Here are some new photos of Miley Cyrus with blue-tinged hair that she probably paid hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars for when it truly looks like she dip-dyed her platinum locks in window cleaner. Regardless of quality, Miley’s rocking those locks and still steadily ignoring the rumors that something happened between Liam Hemsworth and January Jones after they were photographed hopping into the same waiting car after a pre-Oscar party and even kissed in the middle of that party. Further, Miley allegedly was “act[ing] single“ the next night at Elton John’s party.
To her credit, Miley doesn’t appear to have had a public meltdown over this scandal even though she allegedly tweeted and deleted some drama, and she’s tweeting again now but only about her awesome new album. Oh, and Miley’s wearing her engagement ring in these photos, but that doesn’t mean anything at all in my book. If I were famous and just broke up with my fianc and didn’t want anyone to know about it until I had a chance to get over it, I’d still keep wearing my ring too. Of course, I think this ring is hideous, but that’s beside the point.
So what, if anything, should we make of Miley’s new hair tint? Is she acting out over Liam’s alleged wandering eye (and mouth), or did she just feel like mixing it up? Maybe she’s just trying to switch the focus back to her hair, which is a tactic that usually works.

A couple of weeks ago we covered the story that former 90s heartthrob, Brendan Fraser, was trying to have the $900,000 a year he pays his ex wife in alimony and child support reduced, claiming he can no longer afford it. Fraser divorced his wife in 2009. They have three sons together aged 6, 8, and 10.
Many of us had no problem believing that Fraser can’t afford nearly a million a year in support to his ex, considering how his career has been going lately. He does have a lot of movies lined up for the next couple of years, but he hasn’t done much lately and he’s no longer a leading man.
Well TMZ has the details of the financials from Fraser’s court filing and it’s bad. He makes a whopping $251,504 a month, or nearly $2.8 million a year, but almost half of that goes toward “professional fees,” which TMZ interprets as agent fees, among other things. (He’s represented by Creative Artists Agency.) Then he has a mortgage, taxes, insurance, gardening fees, etc. that add up to about $87,000 more a month than he’s making. Here’s their breakdown:
Fraser filed docs in Connecticut recently as part of an ongoing battle with his ex-wife to lower his alimony payments, which currently sit at $50,000/month. To prove his financial situation ain’t what it used to be, Fraser listed his monthly income and expenses …. and it’s not pretty.
According to Fraser, he makes about $205,704.04/month, but $112,803.25 goes to professional expenses — DAMN YOU, AGENTS!!! — leaving him with $92,900.79.
Fraser says he makes another $25,800.28 from interest and other financial things rich people get … and then the expenses kick in, including …
Alimony — $50,000
Mortgages — $5,000+
Property tax — $6,000+
Income tax — $34,132.52
Child support — $25,000
Gardening — $5,200
Various insurances — $5,000+
Family support and gifts — $5,000+
Staffing — $3,000
Pet care — $7.77 (Does he have a goldfish?)
And it goes on and on …
All told, Fraser’s expenses have him losing $87,320.01/month. But Fraser’s assets reportedly total just a shade under $25 million … so we think he’ll be fine.

So maybe Fraser is overstating how broke he is in order to get his alimony and child support reduced. That’s his goal here so he’s not going to make it look like he’s in the black. Still this surprises me. I’m always kind of shocked when millionaires go broke, but I guess it’s easy to just spend wildly when the money is flowing and then have trouble cutting back when it slows to a trickle. Dude needs to move to somewhere with a cheaper mortgage and where he can tend his own garden. He pays $62g a year just for landscaping! He needs to talk to Suze Orman too. She’d be all “denied!”

Here are some photos of LeAnn Rimes wearing a really unfortunate pair of pants while performing in Vancouver on Saturday. At one point, she put on a Canucks jersey and fans booed her when she said she needed an LA Kings jersey too. As for how she looks ? those bangs are not settling in, are they? Sometimes bangs look better after a few weeks of growth and styling, but LeAnn?s are just? bad.
In other LeAnn news, Us Weekly reported last Friday that she?s ?in talks? to get her own TV series. A source told Us Weekly, “LeAnn has been approached about doing both scripted and nonscripted shows and [she?s] hearing people out.? I still think that Simon Cowell needs to approach her about being a judge on The X-Factor. Think about it ? the whole show wouldn?t have to rest on her shoulders, but if she has any kind of emotional or psychological breakdown, the cameras would be there and it would make for ?compelling? must-watch TV. But the idea of LeAnn doing, like, a talk show? No. NOOO. Also: LeAnn is still doing press for her new album (out this month). This interview is epic:
Metro: You?re doing a country music festival in London later this month. Are you looking forward to it?
LeAnn: I am. I haven?t performed in Britain for a while and my British audience is very eclectic. I remember looking out and seeing kids and guys with a million piercings and wearing leather. I have a lot of gay fans in Britain.
What can people expect from your new album?
It?s a very honest album, very personal. I co-wrote most of the songs and it?s about my life over the past few years. I?m proud of it and it tells a story ? not just mine but a lot of other people?s too. I?m not the only person to have gone through these issues.
Was it a cathartic experience?
Very much so. I got out what I needed to get out. I?ve been making music professionally for 20 years but this is the first time I?ve made a record that?s been completely me from start to finish. Being able to turn something crappy into something beautiful, angry and heartbreaking ? every emotion you can think of is on this record ? is an amazing thing to be able to do.
Have you missed recording?
The last album I did was a covers album. It was five years ago and I won?t leave it as long next time. I was living life, took a break and came back to it. I had a lot to draw from. It feels like the second coming of me. It?s to do with growing up and not being apologetic for who I am.
Did you feel a need to explain yourself?
You?ve done a lot of frank US TV interviews recently? Yes. People have been judging me, so I felt a need to explain and apologise, which I?ve done many times. Now I no longer feel that need. I?m happy and happily married and have a wonderful family. I?m living life as best I can ? but I?m not exempt from failure and making bad choices.
You?ve been written about extensively in the US tabloids for three years since you got together with your husband. Has the coverage worn you down?
It has been an ongoing story for them. At least I sell magazines for them ? I guess that?s the positive ? but it?s involved some very wrong information. Sometimes I comment on it, sometimes I don?t. They?re going to write what they want to write anyway. I just read I bathe in Evian water ? some of the stories are so insane. I try to let it roll off my back but it?s gone on for a long time. I have a talent, I can sing. I don?t earn my money from trying to hurt people or get in the tabloids.
Did you ever consider leaving the music industry?
There have been many times I?ve wanted to but I?d be lost without music. I?ve thought about taking a back seat and doing more writing. This is the last album with the label I?ve been signed to since I was 11 ? it?s been 20 years and it feels like this is a new start for me.
Would you let your own child pursue a showbiz career?
I?d let them develop their talent but it?s important to let kids be kids. I wouldn?t encourage them to enter the industry at a young age. I?d be honest with them about what goes on ? it?s not a fairy tale. Wanting to be a superstar is all very well but don?t believe the facade. Especially because it?s getting harder to get into the industry anyway.
In what way? Do you need to do a TV talent show?
It?s easier if you go down that route. A lot of us before those shows were around had to work our butts off to get our music heard. Those shows give you an in-built audience. It?s harder for artists to get heard on the radio now ? it?s not as much of a broad spectrum as it used to be.
What lessons has 20 years in the music industry taught you?
It?s made me a fighter. Everyone fails sometimes, especially when you become as successful as quickly as I did, and I?m proud I?ve been able to pick myself up and keep my head above water for as long as I have.
What else would you like to achieve in your career?
I used to set myself big goals and I?ve achieved most of them, luckily. Now I define success differently to how I did as a kid. I want to continue making music and for people to see me as a complete artist rather than just a voice. It feels like I?m just coming into my own after being in the business for 20 years.

I had kind of forgotten about Britney Spears? little sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Did you know that Jamie is only 21 years old? Crazy, right? It feels like she was a teenage mother a decade ago, but Jamie?s daughter Maddie is only 4 years old right now (I think Maddie turns 5 in a few weeks though). When Jamie got pregnant in 2007, she was the star of a Nickelodeon show and best known for being Brit-Brit?s little sister. The Spears family quickly moved Jamie back to Louisiana to have the baby, and from what little I know about her, I think Jamie has been living quietly in Louisiana all this time. She was with Maddie?s father, Casey Aldridge, until 2010. Since then she?s been with Jamie Watson, who is currently 30 years old. Jamie Lynn just announced her second engagement!
Here comes the bride! It looks like there’s going to be a wedding in the Spears family after all — Britney’s little sister, Jamie Lynn, is engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Jamie Watson.
Spears, 21, announced the happy news on Twitter, with an Instagram picture of herself flashing the ring and hugging her fiance, 30. “Guesssss what??????” she captioned the sweet shot.
Minutes later, she posted another photo: a close-up of the huge, round-cut diamond. “He did good,” she wrote, with a smiley-faced emoticon.
This will be the first marriage for the former Nickelodeon star. She was previously engaged to Casey Aldridge, the father of her 4-year-old daughter, Maddie. They split for good in 2010.
Spears’ engagement comes just two months after news of her older sister’s broken engagement. Britney, 31 — married twice before, to pal Jason Alexander and ex Kevin Federline, with whom she has two kids — was set to wed boyfriend Jason Trawick until the couple’s January 2013 split.

My mind is particularly warped right now because I spent the weekend curled up with The Purity Myth by Jessica Valenti ? it?s a book about how damaging and counter-productive all of the ?no sex education? programs are and how fetishizing teenage girls? virginity is simply wrong, and all I can think about now is how different Jamie Lynn?s life could have been. Still, I?m sure she adores her daughter and I think it?s probably a good sign that we rarely hear about her and she?s living a relatively quiet life. My one negative comment: I?m sketched out by the age difference (21 versus 30 is a BIG deal) and by how much older Jamie Watson LOOKS. Also: Jamie and Jamie? And Jamie Lynn?s dad is named Jamie too. I just? can?t.

Here are some new photos of Charlize Theron out in Beverly Hills with her son Jackson over the weekend. Jackson got a haircut! Charlize took him to the salon and he sat on her lap as he got a trim. Because mother and son both love a close crop, apparently. Speaking of Charlize?s hair ? how righteous does it look these days? It just keeps looking better and better, right? I thought the high point was going to be the brunette fauxhawk, but I like her hair even more in these photos. Charlize just has the face and the attitude to pull off really short hair. She rocks it!!
Meanwhile, there are still lots of rumors about Charlize and Seth MacFarlane. I don?t get it. Apparently, Seth is no longer with Emilia Clarke (the Khaleesi from Game of Thrones) and he and Charlize are circling each other. Page Six seems to have started the rumor last week, and now there?s this:
Could this year?s Academy Awards have minted more than mere Oscar gold? There?s a lot of chatter coming from Hollywood that a new romance may have been ignited, thanks to a connection made at this year?s awards ceremony and the rehearsals leading up to it.
Translation: Oscar winner Charlize Theron and host Seth MacFarlane apparently really clicked while prepping for Sunday?s big show. Along with dancing in MacFarlane?s opening musical number, Theron also pre-taped one of the reaction shots for his much-discussed ?We Saw Your Boobs? bit, spoofing famous actresses? topless or nude scenes in their films.
According to folks close to Theron, the South African native thinks MacFarlane is funny, cute and charming.
?Charlize finds Seth to be a great guy who not only makes her laugh but has so much on the ball,? said a longtime Hollywood insider who has worked with Theron for years.
Reportedly, the duo not only hung out all night after the Oscars but are planning to see each other again. ?This is early, but I see a new relationship brewing,? added a second source who attended MacFarlane?s own post-awards bash Sunday.
The timing of all this could work. MacFarlane isn?t dating anyone special, and Theron has been single since she and longtime beau Stuart Townsend ended their nine-year relationship last year.

Here are some new photos of Kim Kardashian at LAX and then arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris yesterday. People assume she?s arrived for the Paris fashion shows and to meet up with Kanye West, who has been in Paris for a week. Kim wore this same all-white look going to and arriving in Paris. Thoughts on her outfit? I have a soft-spot for all-white outfits, actually. But I think you have to do it right, and you have to make sure it?s occasion-appropriate. Like, if Kim wore this outfit (specifically the coat) to a winter red carpet event, I would be more interested in it. But this is how she travels ? this outfit is only for the plane ride. Which makes it? try-hard and weird, I think. Instead of looking fashion-forward, she looks like? I?m struggling to finish this sentence. I was going to write ?like Bernie Mac (RIP)? but I think that?s the wrong reference? She looks like a televangelist? let?s go with that.
As for Kim?s disappearing and reappearing bump, Kim was blogging about it a few days ago. She said: ?When I really get my bump I will love showing it off, but some days its bigger than others and it hasn?t really popped yet. So this in-between phase is so awkward to dress. I have gained lots of inches in width, but can?t wait for the bump to pop? but finding ways to conceal it is hard!? Yeah, she’s right. Her bump size is fluctuating wildly. But I have confidence that she’ll pop – she’s built like Jessica Simpson, after all. Also, I’ve heard that Kim’s bra size has increased by three sizes – poor girl. I really do feel for her on that one. I bet her back is killing her.

Last year, Zoe Saldana filmed Nina, the long-gestating Nina Simone bio-pic. When we had photos from the set, I discussed them ? go here to see. I?m including some of those photos in this post, where you can see Zoe?s dramatic makeup and prosthetics. Nina Simone was an iconic, complicated and insanely talented woman, and it was no surprise to me that her life story would be made into a bio-pic. But the choice of Zoe Saldana to play Simone was disconcerting to me and many, many others, including Nina Simone?s family. Nina Simone?s daughter Simone Kelly said (upon Zoe?s casting): ?My mother was raised at a time when she was told her nose was too wide, her skin was too dark. Appearance-wise this is not the best choice.? The family reportedly refused to participate with the filmmakers, which is going to come up when the film is released, which will probably be later this year. Throughout the controversy last year, Zoe didn?t say much of anything to her critics, but she?s talking now:
Star Trek actress Zoe Saldaa has defended her casting as Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic Nina about the jazz and blues singer-pianist who died in 2003 aged 70. The singer Mary J. Blige was first cast to play Simone until she had to bow out for what Cynthia Mort, the writer and director of the film, described as ?scheduling issues”.
The casting of Saldaa has caused a major backlash for a film due out later this year. American academics have written about the controversy, and an online petition at Change.org, which calls for Mort to ?replace Zoe Saldaa with an actress who actually looks like Nina Simone”, has attracted 10,500 signatures. Simone?s daughter, Simone Kelly, said that the family estate had not participated in the film. ?My mother was raised at a time when she was told her nose was too wide, her skin was too dark,? Kelly said. ?Appearance-wise this is not the best choice,? she added, referring to Saldaa.
But now, in an interview with HipHollywood, Saldaa ? who is of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, and describes herself as black and Latina ? said: “What keeps me focused and what kept me from getting stressed from being hurt by the comments is I’m doing it for my sisters, I’m doing it for my brothers, and I don’t care who tells me I am not this and I am not that. I know who I am, and I know what Nina Simone means to me.?
“I can only rely on that and maintain as much humility as possible, so that when I have to face the world and we have to then give the movie to the world to see, and share it with them, that if it comes back in . . . a negative fashion or positive, I?m gonna keep my chin up. And Nina was like that too. I did it all out of love for my people and my pride of being a black woman and a Latina woman and an American woman, and that?s my truth.?

I have mixed feelings about criticizing Zoe for this role. I would imagine that playing Nina was one of Zoe?s dream roles, and it?s not her fault that Hollywood producers were like, ?Eh, maybe Zoe can play this iconic role, why not? Who will complain?? And if Zoe feels like she was capable of playing the role, why wouldn?t she be proud? Shouldn?t we applaud that? On the other side? it seems clear from these photos that Zoe is wearing much darker makeup to give her skin a similar shade to Nina?s, and it seems like Zoe is also wearing a prosthetic nose too. Is that offensive? Is that considered blackface? Or is the racial/color issue not so binary in this particular case because of Zoe?s racial background? See ? it?s really complicated.

Last week, we covered the Star story that alleged (through a rather flimsy source) that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were hurtling towards a $300 million divorce. The story provided details such as Tori hiring a private investigator after suspecting Dean of cheating on her with a couple of different women for at least two years. Further, Star’s source claimed that Dean often chided Tori for her weight struggles after giving birth to four children. The story also tried to make a huge deal out of Dean making a play for Candy Spelling’s money since Tori didn’t get anything from her dad after he died, but that part didn’t make much sense at all.
Even before Star appeared on newsstands, Tori got wind of the story and spoke with the Mail to categorically deny marriage troubles. Of course, the story had already gone to print and showed up in grocery store checkout lines where Tori’s kids saw it and freaked out. Tori wrote about it on her blog, and she rips Star several new ones. This is so sad:
[Y]ou might be wondering what I’m referring to while others have already seen the hateful story on the cover of this weeks Star magazine claiming that Dean and I are divorcing and many more horrible claims against my husband. Yes, the story will pass but what won’t pass is what happened in a local supermarket check out line.
My son Liam is turning 6 in a couple weeks. His proudest achievement so far in his young life is that he is learning to read. Until now, when that pride turned to sorrow thanks to Star magazine. He first spotted me on the cover, then Dad, and then a picture of himself and his 3 younger siblings. He was able to read two things out loud, the word DIVORCE (which he proudly sounded out) and the caption above his picture which read “Who will get the kids?” He became terrified. I had to hurry him and his confused 4-year-old sister Stella out of the grocery store and into our car. By the time he was fastening himself into his car seat he was asking, “Why is someone getting us?? Where are you and Dad going?” He was anxiously biting his lower lip and his big blue eyes were filled with tears. My heart sank. How would I explain to my children that what these 3 writers who have never even met us but who claim to know the ins and outs of our relationship and have proudly put their names on this article are flat out writing lies?
I’ve always had shots taken at me. It’s been almost 24 years since I became a public figure starting at age 16 with 90210. It’s the downside to this business but I’ve built up a pretty thick skin to the lies and trash talking at this point. But my children are another story. Keep them out of it! I wonder if any of those 3 writers have children? How would they feel if their child had to read something so hurtful and confusing as what mine had to read? How do they sleep at night knowing they’ve potentially emotionally scarred and if nothing else terrified innocent children.
Driving home I repeatedly told my children, “That magazine doesn’t know us. Daddy and I are very happy and in love. There will be no divorce and all of us will remain together as a family”. Stella, my literal one, just kept saying “But then why is it on the magazine? Magazines are true.” I wish that were always the case.
I’m lucky my two oldest are only 5 and 4 and couldn’t read the fine details of the article where horrific claims were made against my husband, their Dad.
Again, you want to make inaccurate low blows at someone Star? Go for me! I can handle it. I always have. But don’t do it to a man that has done nothing but loved me and our children. He has stood by me during the good times and held my hand through the darkest moments of my life. I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in life and love and he is the best father to our four children. I’m aware that all that matters is that we know our truth. It?s just sad that our actual happiness would probably be deemed boring to Star Magazine. What kind of society have we become where love stories and fairytales are dead? That others? failure is what people crave and what sells? That?s not the world I want my children growing up in.

Tori is absolutely correct in that the tabloids never consider how much their hypothetical “divorce” stories will upset the children, especially when the stories aren’t even true in the first place. I hope Tori and Dean are just fine, and hopefully, the kids will eventually forget about Star’s cover, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the cover is emblazoned in their impressionable minds for good. How terrible for these kids.
One more thing — if Tori had been forewarned about this awful story being splashed all over the cover of a very prominently placed tabloid magazine, don’t you think she could have left the kids at home while she hit the grocery store for her weekly shop? I’m not trying to blame Tori at all for this story upsetting her kids, but I would have left them with a sitter or with Dean until things blew over. Maybe she didn’t realize they would see it though.
