Jessica Alba?s divorce is starting to freak me out a little bit. It?s just so? un-Hollywood. In Hollywood, even the most generous and warm divorces have some spice and drama. I mean, a marriage is ending, clearly two people have fought about something, whether it?s infidelity, money, careers, kids. Even if two celebrities manage to be completely mature and loving in their divorce, there?s still drama over divorce lawyers or assets or PR! But not Jessica Alba and Cash Warren. At least not yet. I don?t even get the sense that Alba and Warren are making an effort to position themselves in any kind of way, and neither party seems particularly concerned about their image or their assets. Even TMZ?s announcement about their separation last week didn?t feel one-sided or dramatic. And now this Jessica Alba has announced on Instagram that her marriage is over. This is what she posted:
?I?ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years ? both as an individual and in partnership with Cash.?
?I?m proud of how we?ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it?s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.

Hilariously, she didn?t even pin that IG, at least she hadn?t pinned it as of this writing. She just tossed it off like it was a random announcement about some minor gig. So, I have a small theory about this I think Alba and Warren?s marriage was obviously more like a loose partnership in recent years, and they were basically just staying together for the kids. Maybe they also had a trial separation, or they agreed to spend more time apart. I think Alba is the one who decided to pull the plug, and she expects Cash to not put up much of a fight about anything. Maybe she?s fine with everything she?s built being part of the community property of their marriage too.
Also: People Mag reported exclusively that Alba hired a divorce lawyer. Us Weekly says that Cash and Jessica plan to file for divorce soon and Cash is moving out, but things have slowed down because of the Southern California fires. Hm.

As I?ve mentioned in several posts now, I saw The Substance over the holidays and I loathed it. While I thought it was an interesting concept and *some* of the body horror was well-executed, they really drove the whole story off of a fking cliff for the last hour. It was trying to be high-minded about the toxic messages of worshipping youth and beauty, but they also wanted to exploit youth and beauty too. Anyway, Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley did the best they could with the material they were given, and both actresses are getting nominations all over the place. Demi has been campaigning more than Margaret, but Margaret has just introduced a ?struggle narrative? to her campaign. Apparently, because of all of the facial prosthetics, she had a severe breakout which affected her for about a year.
In a recent interview on the ?Happy Sad Confused? podcast, Margaret Qualley said it took ?a year? for her skin to recover from the irritation caused by the face prosthetics used in ?The Substance.? The damage was so bad that director Coralie Fargeat had to frame out her face in certain shots.
?At the end, when they?re shooting up my skirt in the beginning credits, and it?s like the palm trees all around and they have all these long lenses from the bottom, that?s just because my face was so fked up,? Qualley said. ?They couldn?t shoot my face anymore.?
The acne from the prosthetics lasted long after ?The Substance? wrapped and persisted as she began shooting her next film, ?Kinds of Kindness,? in which she played four characters: Vivian, Martha, Rebecca and Ruth. Luckily, the acne played to her benefit in the Yorgos Lanthimos drama.
?So, you know the character that has all that acne? That was just my acne from the prosthetics,? Qualley said. ?And I was like, ?Oh this is kind of perfect. I?m playing all these different characters. For one of them, we?ll use all my crazy prosthetic acne.? It took me probably a year to recover physically from all of it.?

This reminded me of Scarlett Johansson talking about how all of the Marvel actors get rashes from their superhero suits and they basically have dermatologists on stand-by. Honestly, as someone who gets a rash at the drop of a hat, Margaret?s story is its own horror story. She should sue! Seriously, her skin?s reaction to those janky prosthetics affected her work! Florence Pugh recently chatted with the Times to promote We Live In Time, her weepy drama with Andrew Garfield. I still haven?t seen it and I don?t want to I dislike those kinds of manipulative grief-p0rny films. But I do support Florence, who apparently had a big life change because of the movie. After filming it, she broke up with Zach Braff and took a real break from her career for the first time in a decade. She speaks about that and (what else?) body image and standing up for herself online:
Her father wants her to stay ?100 per cent Flo Pugh?. ?And so I always prodded at things. I?m not nasty ? I hope people think I?m kind. But there are fine lines women have to stay within, otherwise they are called a diva, demanding, problematic. And I don?t want to fit into stereotypes made by others. It is really exhausting for a young woman to just be in this industry, and actually other industries. But I?ve always been encouraged to have a voice.?
How ?We Live in Time? changed her life: ?When I finished filming my life changed,? Pugh explains. She broke up with her long-term boyfriend, the actor Zach Braff, in 2022 and has dated a few people, none famous, since. ?Relationships came and went, and I had this opportunity to look at my life away from my work. And I realised, OK, I need to wake the f*** up. I had to look away from my career, from movies, from wanting to be this kind of actor, that kind of actor. Or how many awards I would love to get before I pass away. That?s been my focus for ten years, but I want to make sure that the things I need to do, whether children, family, change, change in relationships ? well, I realised I need to make changes now. Because I?m a worker bee and that is why I?ve never wanted a break. Everything was just, wow! What?s next? And it is only ten years in that I can now go, oh, I need to do a bit of my life.?
The sniping criticism of her body: ?Look, not everybody has legs that go on for days. I remember watching this industry and feeling that I wasn?t represented. I remember godawful headlines about how Keira Knightley isn?t thin any more, or watching women getting torn apart despite being talented and beautiful. The only thing people want to talk about is some useless crap about how they look. And so I didn?t care to abide by those rules. I?ve loved challenging ideas I don?t like.?
Challenging men?s BS: ?I wanted to challenge how women were perceived, how we are supposed to look? Actually I wasn?t trying to challenge. I just wanted to be there, to make space for a version of a person that isn?t all the things they used to have to be. I?m proud I?ve stuck by myself and look the way I look ? I?m really interested in people who are still angry with me for not losing more weight, or who just hate my nose ring. I am not going to be able to just change the way that things are ? but I can certainly help young women coming into this industry by making conversations happen where they weren?t before.? Recently she revealed that she has had her eggs frozen after a diagnosis of endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.
Playing characters who were marginalised in the 1800s: ?Well, it?s always been fashionable to tell a woman how she should live her life. Or that the decisions they are making are wrong or too loud. It?s about control, isn?t it? It?s still ultimately about suppressing one sex, and we?re dealing with it all the time.?
What it?s all about: ?I mean, the world is not exactly fun right now. Whether you?re in your teens having to manoeuvre life on your phone, because the internet?s terrifying, or the wars with many people dying. There?s so much crap, but this reminds everyone that the reason we?re here is to love and be loved. There aren?t car chases. Or aliens. But it?s real ? because there is a time frame on our lives and it shouldn?t be something we wait for to happen. Life should be something we?re in control of.?

That?s a message I wish more young women and girls understood, that none of this is new, even if it feels new or it feels heightened because of the internet. It?s always been the case that men are in women?s business. It?s always been the case that women?s bodies are policed and controlled. As for what she does online to defend herself and her body/looks? she can do whatever she wants, obviously, and I?m sure her words have helped other women. That being said, I do feel like there?s a razor?s edge to walk between ?defending yourself from trolls? versus ?doing something attention-seeking and attacking people for having an opinion.?

Earlier this week, People Magazine had an exclusive about Angelina Jolie and the Southern California wildfires. Basically, it was confirmation that Angelina has taken in friends and evacuees at her Los Feliz mansion, and that her kids have been volunteering with fire relief. People also mentioned that Angelina stopped by a World Central Kitchen hub and that she met some firefighters. I took all of it at face value a lot of celebrities have donated their time, money and resources to fire relief, and many of those celebrities have flown under the radar while they?ve volunteered. Apparently, Angelina did pose for some photos with some fans while she volunteered, and now the Daily Mail is comparing Jolie to? the Duchess of Sussex. And they?re saying Meghan should try to be more like Angelina?
Angelina Jolie quietly helped out a Los Angeles charity as the city continues to burn from wildfires. The 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress wore casual clothing and her hair down with little makeup on as she pitched in with the World Central Kitchen. The ex-wife of Brad Pitt was seen at night next to several other female volunteers. Jolie did not seem to make a big deal about her volunteer work as she did not post about it on social media. It was a savvy move on her part as some other stars, like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, made sure their relief efforts became a photo op.
Jason Collis shared a photo of Jolie as he said: Absolutely beyond proud of our incredible team?saying theyre doing Gods work is an understatement! Day and night, since day one were committed to supporting everyone impacted by the Eaton and Palisades wildfires in LA. Our hearts are with the community and the brave first responders on the front lines. Weve served over 100,000 hot meals, thanks to the huge generosity of local food trucks and restaurant partners. Eva Longoria Baston stopped by WCK partner Tacos 1986 to pick up a nourishing lunch for crews in Pasadena working tirelessly to clean up the devastation caused by the Los Angeles fires, it was shared on the World Central Kitchen Facebook page. These sightings comes after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been slammed by Justine Bateman as disaster tourists after they appeared volunteering during the LA wildfires.

Putting aside Justine Bateman?s unhinged commentary for a moment, I?m really struggling to understand what point the British media has been trying to make about Meghan and Harry?s volunteerism. Is the point just as simple as: Meghan and Harry should not appear on camera if they want to volunteer? Or are these people still trying to insist that the Sussexes invited the cameras or sought attention or posted selfies on their social media? Because none of that happened. There is no difference between what the Sussexes did and what Angelina Jolie did, other than it sounds like the Sussexes spent more time volunteering at WCK while Angelina (who is helpless in any kitchen) probably just dropped off supplies and asked what else they needed.

The Kansas City Chiefs play the Houston Texans on Saturday, the start of the Playoffs. Travis Kelce said a few days ago that Taylor Swift would attend the game, which is notable because she?s now skipped a few games. By my records, the last game she attended was on December 21 (when the Chiefs also played the Texans). Taylor seems to enjoy having a football-player boyfriend, and she?s pretty comfortable attending all of the Chiefs? home games at Arrowhead. Travis told Stephen A. Smith this week that Taylor isn?t even encouraging him to retire after this season.
Taylor Swift is not getting in the way of Travis Kelce?s desire to keep playing football. During a stop on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, was asked if Swift, also 35, was ?encouraging? him to retire since football is a violent sport.
?She?s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,? Kelce told host Stephen A. Smith. ?She loves coming to Arrowhead [Stadium] and coming to the games and cheering for me, so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.?
Earlier in his interview with Smith, 57, Kelce said he was not thinking about retirement at the moment. Instead, he is thinking about the playoffs, which start for the Chiefs on Saturday, Jan. 18, against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
?I love everything that Im doing in this building,? Kelce said. ?But at the end of the day, Im not having that extreme success on the field as I have individually, man. Im excited for these next couple games to play up at Arrowhead, to finish this season off.
Kelce said he would ?reevaluate? his career as he ?always? does.
?And Ill probably tell myself how much I love this thing,? he continued. ?Its something you have to keep in perspective, man. I never want to get to the point where Im not helping this team win or Im hurting this team more than Im helping this team. The Chiefs are hoping to become the first NFL team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. The team has already won three since 2019.

My guess is that his feelings on retirement will depend a lot on whether the Chiefs make the Super Bowl and, if that happens, whether they win another ring. If they make it to the Super Bowl, it will be really difficult for Travis to retire, because what will he tell himself? He didn?t have the best season and yet he made it to the biggest game. Anyway, I?m sure Taylor is encouraging him to do whatever he wants and follow his dreams. But she?s also helping him prepare for his post-football career in a way their relationship has eased his path to a major career outside of football, as a host/actor/producer and whatever else he wants to do.

On Tuesday, the Princess of Wales visited the cancer ward at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Kate?s office confirmed that Kate had been treated at the same hospital last year, and that?s where she had been ?smuggled in? to receive chemotherapy treatments. Kate made some strange comments during her visit with cancer patients, but royal reporters quickly swooped in to do damage control and massage the message. The message? Kate is fine, she?s in remission, but her ?new normal? means that she?s still not going back to work in any way, and how dare you question any part of this story. Interestingly, People Magazine has published several exclusives about Kate?s visit, and I suspect that Kensington Palace organized these pieces with palace-selected people and palace-enforced talking points. One woman who met Kate declared that Kate doesn?t have to tell people what kind of cancer she had:
Kate Middletons visit to a London hospital where she had cancer treatment last year made a real impact, but one cancer patient says theres no need for the royal to disclose her diagnosis. Angela Terry met the Princess of Wales during her emotional stop at The Royal Marsden Hospital on Jan. 14, and exclusively tells PEOPLE that Kates presence provided a huge boost.
She was there to say thank you to the people who had looked after her, talk to patients who were in a similar situation, Terry tells PEOPLE. It was a great message of hope because she looked so well. We don?t need to know what cancer she had. We just know she?s been through surgery, she?s been through chemo ? and one year later, my goodness, look, she is here.
Terry, 71, was diagnosed with EGFR-positive lung cancer in 2019 and serves as the non-executive chair of EGFR Positive UK, a charity for mutation driven lung cancer. She was at the Royal Marsden for treatment on Tuesday when she met Princess Kate, who unexpectedly stepped out there to show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides, a Kensington Palace spokesman said.

Kate and King Charles have both declined to talk specifics about their cancer diagnoses, but Charles has done a lot more to show that he?s receiving treatment and that his cancer and the treatment has knocked him on his ass. Charles, to me, is more realistic and relatable than the conspiracy of silence around Kate for the past year. Meanwhile, People Mag did another exclusive about Kate telling a cancer patient that she didn?t use the cold cap:
Kate Middletons hair has long been a hallmark of her style, and during a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital, a cancer patient revealed that the princess shared she didnt have to have cold cap therapy?a treatment that helps reduce the risk of hair loss?during her cancer treatment.
Katherine Field, a patient undergoing cancer treatment who met Princess Kate during her visit, tells PEOPLE that they discussed cold capping ? a scalp cooling system that can help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy, according to the American Cancer Society. Field, who was wearing a cold cap at the time, said the conversation added a personal connection to their encounter.
I hate it, but I think it is working. Today there is a little bit of hair coming out, but I?m just trying to delay it, Field, an art historian and curator, tells PEOPLE. When asked if Princess Kate mentioned using a cold cap, Field shared, She just said that she didn?t have to have it. For her to lose her hair, which is so iconic, would have been awful. Everyone loves her hair!

In retrospect, I think one of the craziest parts about Kate?s situation is that she actually looked quite ill in 2023 and her use of wigs was quite noticeable, and then when she ?came back? to public view in June of last year when she was apparently going through chemo she looked worlds better and a lot healthier. She was practically glowing at the Wimbledon men?s final last July. And yes, the situation with her hair is certainly interesting.

On Thursday, Justin Baldoni sued/countersued Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and their publicist. In his 179-page complaint, Baldoni provides a lot of text messages between himself and Lively before and during the It Ends With Us production. He also includes texts and emails with other producers and actors. In one mind-numbingly hilarious section, Baldoni and his team are increasingly concerned during the production that Blake Lively has never read the source material, Colleen Hoover?s novel of the same name, and that Blake is Googling information about her character. I bring that up because Blake took it upon herself to rewrite some scenes, alongside her husband Ryan Reynolds. At one point, Blake invited Baldoni to her Tribeca penthouse, and Blake, Ryan and Taylor Swift gave Baldoni a hard sell on why he should use all of Blake and Ryan?s rewrites. Afterwards, Baldoni and Lively exchanged texts and she referred to herself as the Khaleesi (from Game of Thrones) and suggested that Ryan and Taylor Swift are her dragons.
Justin Baldoni claims Taylor Swift was involved in backing Blake Livelys vision for It Ends With Us when he resisted some rewrites. Among the claims made in his 179-page complaint, Baldoni, 40, alleges that Swift, 35, and Reynolds, 48, pressured him into accepting one of Livelys rewrites for the film. Christy Hall is credited as the screenwriter who adapted Colleen Hoovers blockbuster novel.
In the pre-production phase, Lively allegedly asked to take a pass on the films rooftop scene, where her character Lily Bloom meets Baldonis Ryle Kincaid for the first time. Baldoni was reluctant to let her rewrite this key scene, per the complaint, but agreed to take a look at what she put together.
Baldoni claims her version was dramatically different from how it was originally written, and after his exceedingly mild resistance, Lively went silent for multiple days and later said in an alleged text message that his reaction to her rewrite didn?t feel great for me ? or to Reynolds and what Baldoni characterizes as another megacelebrity friend. A text message included in the filing reveals that influential and wealthy celebrity friend to be Swift.
Baldoni claimed he was summoned to an earlier meeting with Reynolds at their New York City penthouse where the pop superstar arrived and began praising Lively?s script. Baldoni understood the subtext: he needed to comply with Lively?s direction for the script.
Per the complaint, Baldoni felt he didnt need Reynolds and her megacelebrity friend to pressure him, so he texted her that while her changes made the scene so much more fun and interesting he would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor, adding a playful emoji. Lively allegedly responded by comparing herself to the Game of Thrones character Khaleesi and that Reynolds and Swift are her two dragons.
Another alleged text from Lively included in the filing shows the actress referring to Reynolds, with whom she shares four kids and married in 2012, and Swift as her Dance Moms level stage moms.
They are embarrassingly effusive, she added per the alleged text messages, calling herself the luckiest mfer on the planet to have them as her supporters and most trusted partners. She allegedly added, I think they wanted you and me to see how they felt about [the rewrites] because theyve been by my side for far too many experiences where Ive been overlooked.
Lively, in the alleged text message, said to Baldoni: If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, youll appreciate that Im Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. you will too, I can promise you.

Even before the lawsuits started happening, back when Blake and Justin were separately promoting IEWU, the story about Ryan rewriting the rooftop/balcony scene came out, because Blake spoke about it openly in the press. People side-eyed it even then why was Blake getting her husband to do an ?unauthorized? rewrite on a crucial scene without the director?s knowledge? That was before we knew Blake was the Khaleesi and that Ryan and Taylor are her dragons. Separate from the allegations of sexual harassment, the way Blake and Ryan were throwing their weight around would have been a huge nightmare for any production and any director. By now you?ve probably seen or heard of those Timothee Chalamet photos getting attention this week. No, I?m not talking about the paparazzi shots of him holding hands with Kylie Jenner in Paris. I?m talking about the images of Timmy strolling up to the London premiere of A Complete Unknown astride an electric Lime bicycle. Not only was the bike his mode of transportation to the event (there was traffic, he said), but the kid even rode the bike on the red carpet. It was fun! He?s the star of the movie, and anyway Timothee has the cache to set the mold for what it means to be a Gen Z movie star. By the next day, Timmy was off to Paris for more film promo duties, including a stop at French talk show Quotidien (if your name is Timothee Chalamet then you?re legally obligated to be fluent in French), where Timmy revealed that in his brief time using the Lime bike in London he?d gotten a 65 fine for parking it incorrectly. Sacr bleu!
Although Timothee Chalamet opted for a sensible mode of transportation for his latest red carpet, apparently no good goes unpunished.
After the Oscar nominee arrived to Tuesday?s London premiere of A Complete Unknown on a Lime bike, he revealed he was slapped with a 65 (roughly $79) fine for incorrectly parking the ride.
?It?s ecological!? explained Chalamet on the French talk show Quotidien of why he hopped the bike. ?It was horrible, because it was actually kind of an advert for them.?
He noted that he opted out of taking a car to the BFI Southbank premiere due to a traffic jam.
Chalamet?s bike ride comes after he earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Bob Dylan in writer/director James Mangold?s biopic A Complete Unknown.
Now playing in theaters, the biopic follows an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota who arrives in NYC in 1961 with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide.
A Complete Unknown also stars Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Will Harrison as Bob Neuwirth and more.

Do I think Timothee Chalamet can pay a $79 fine without feeling the pinch? Absolutely. After all, he was mensch enough to offer to cover the $500 lack of permit fine incurred at his own lookalike contest. If nothing else, he has a billionaire girlfriend who could spot him the change. That being said, Timmy?s argument is right! Lime couldn?t buy the kind of publicity Timmy just handed them ? for free! When contacted by Forbes, Lime was cagey about whether they even issued the fine, let alone how much it was (most of their fines are no larger than 20). I can?t figure out when they could?ve even reached Timmy. He zipped across the channel tout suite! And no, it didn?t go unnoticed online that Timmy got into trouble for going electric, via bike, while promoting a Bob Dylan biopic that depicts the uproar Dylan faced for going electric, via guitar. In that light, Timmy is so particular with his red carpet moments? could he have planned this whole kerfuffle? I wouldn?t put it past Le Chalamet!

It?s my hope that all of us can protect our peace as much as possible for the incoming political situation. We?ll cover some of it, but I?m not going to feel the same level of outrage and anger as I did from 2016-2020. MAGA world and the media have been expecting to feed on our anger and fear, and they?re really mad that a lot of people are withholding it. We?ll also cover some of the political situations when there?s overlap with the entertainment world. Honestly, I wasn?t expecting the overlap to happen so quickly for Donald Trump?s 2017 inauguration, his team struggled hard to find any celebrity, of any caliber, willing to attend his inaugural events, much less perform at them. But it?s a brand new MAGA world. Not only will Carrie Underwood perform at the inauguration, but a bunch of country music people will perform at the various inaugural balls.
The inauguration festivities for President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance are taking shape as the (near) final roster of events, performers and participants has been unveiled by the committee.
Carrie Underwood, confirmed earlier this week to sing ?America the Beautiful? in a move that surprised some fans, will have plenty of company from the country music world when she arrives in Washington, D.C. Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Aldean, Lee Greenwood, Parker McCollum and Rascal Flatts are booked to hit the stage, either at one of three official inaugural balls or the Make America Great Again Victory Rally. (There are a number of unofficial balls and inauguration events in and around D.C. this weekend.)
Gavin DeGraw, whose work has straddled pop, rock and country and who is perhaps best known for hits off his album Chariot like the One Tree Hill anthem ?I Don?t Want to Be,? will perform at the Starlight Ball. The Monday event will also feature remarks by President Trump. News of DeGraw?s participation was met by criticism from a portion of his fan base, so much so that his name was a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
The Village People addressed their fans directly in revealing they would participate in the inauguration. The band, whose classic hit ?Y.M.C.A.? has long been an anthem of the LGBTQ community and a favorite of Trump?s used at countless rallies and events, posted a statement Monday. ?We know this won?t make some of you happy to hear, however, we believe the music is to be performed without regard to politics,? the band shared on Facebook. The group is booked for two events including the MAGA Victory Rally and the Liberty Ball. ?Our song, ?Y.M.C.A.,? is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.? (The mention references their support for defeated Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris.)

In case you?re not well-versed in country, Jason Aldean is that guy who wrote a loving ode to small-town lynchings in 2023. Aldean previously dedicated the same song to Trump, a New Yorker. I hate to admit this, but Billy Ray and Gavin DeGraw surprised me. Billy Ray is chaotic and I?m not surprised that he?s a Republican, but I just figured that he would also not put himself out there for Trump in this way. Now, I had no idea that DeGraw has MAGA politics, but I?m not sure I?ve ever even read an interview with him, so how would I know? Anyway, these are Shaboozey and Beyonce?s country music coworkers. I hope Shaboozey never goes to a country music awards show again.

Like many people, I thought it was odd that Justin Baldoni?s legal team had not countersued Blake Lively and her PR team in the New Year. Blake?s legal and PR strategy was very effective she filed a complaint against Baldoni with the California Civil Rights Department on the Friday before Christmas, and her team organized a New York Times exclusive which was published the weekend before Christmas. Baldoni and his people were doing a lot of talking post-Christmas, and Baldoni?s team managed to file a lawsuit against the New York Times on New Year?s Eve. I wondered what the hold-up was on countersuing Blake, but then Variety mentioned (in a piece about Baldoni this week) that Baldoni?s lawyer Bryan Freeman lost his house in the Southern California wildfires. Which explains the delay. In any case, Justin Baldoni is now suing Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and their publicist Leslie Sloane. It sounds like a monster lawsuit too.
Justin Baldoni is now suing Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane and Sloanes PR firm Vision PR, Inc. over the heated situation behind the scenes of It Ends With Us.
Attorneys for the actor-director, 40, filed a $400 million lawsuit in the Southern District of New York on Thursday, Jan. 16 on behalf of Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, publicist Jennifer Abel and crisis publicist Melissa Nathan, claiming Lively, 37, took measures to gain control of the hit movie. Hes suing on claims of civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, intentional interference with contractual relations, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage.
Reps for Lively, Reynolds and Sloane did not immediately respond to PEOPLEs request for comment.
In a statement, Baldonis attorney Bryan Freedman says: This lawsuit is a legal action based on an overwhelming amount of untampered evidence detailing Blake Lively and her team?s duplicitous attempt to destroy Justin Baldoni, his team and their respective companies by disseminating grossly edited, unsubstantiated, new and doctored information to the media. It is clear based on our own all out willingness to provide all complete text messages, emails, video footage and other documentary evidence that was shared between the parties in real time, that this is a battle she will not win and will certainly regret. Blake Lively was either severely misled by her team or intentionally and knowingly misrepresented the truth.
Let?s not forget, Ms. Lively and her team attempted to bulldoze reputations and livelihoods for heinously selfish reasons through their own dangerous manipulation of the media before even taking any actual legal action. We know the truth, and now the public does too, the statement continues. Justin and his team have nothing to hide, documents do not lie.
Lively has already sued Baldoni and his associates, making claims of sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign orchestrated by Baldoni.

Wayfarer has opted to use the resources of its billionaire co-founder to issue media statements, launch meritless lawsuits, and threaten litigation to overwhelm the public?s ability to understand that what they are doing is retaliation against sexual harassment allegations.?
Lawyers for Lively, 37, say Baldoni and his associates are trying to shift the narrative to Ms. Lively by falsely claiming that she seized creative control and alienated the cast from Mr. Baldoni. The evidence will show that the cast and others had their own negative experiences with Mr. Baldoni and Wayfarer. The evidence will also show that Sony asked Ms. Lively to oversee Sony?s cut of the film, which they then selected for distribution and was a resounding success.
Their response to sexual harassment allegations: she wanted it, it?s her fault. Their justification for why this happened to her: look what she was wearing. In short, while the victim focuses on the abuse, the abuser focuses on the victim. The strategy of attacking the woman is desperate, it does not refute the evidence in Ms. Lively?s complaint, and it will fail.?

One of Baldonis claims, within his lawsuit, is that he and other producers were concerned that Blake hadnt read the source material, Colleen Hoovers book, and that Blake was extremely unconcerned about what story they were actually trying to tell. This response from Blakes team feels similar, like she hasnt bothered to read any part of Baldonis suit. Baldoni isnt saying at any place that Blake asked for it or that she wanted it. Baldoni is providing context and nuance, often in text form, of some of Blakes claims. To be fair, I think it?s very likely that Justin did and said some weird/creepy stuff and that Blake really felt uncomfortable. But I also think there?s going to be a lot of evidence that Blake has exaggerated and misrepresented some of her claims about Baldoni, and Team Lively has already been caught in several lies/misrepresentations. If this ends up going far into the legal/trial process, Lively and Reynolds are not going to come out unscathed, especially since they?ve put Justin Baldoni in a position where he?s got nothing to lose.

Prolific filmmaker, visionary, meditation guru and amateur meterologist David Lynch has passed away at 78. He leaves behind some of the most original, bizarre and entertaining films of the last century. Lynchs cause of death has not been disclosed although he recently announced that he had emphysema.
David Lynch, an influential director known for his unique and surrealistic films and TV shows including ?Blue Velvet? and ?Twin Peaks,? has died. He was 78.
His death was confirmed via his official Facebook page, where his family wrote:
?It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There?s a big hole in the world now that he?s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ?Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.??
?It?s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.?
CNN has reached out to Lynch?s foundation for further comment. A cause of death has not been disclosed.
Lynch?s almost-50-year cinematic career was distinguished by a series of distinctive, highly stylized films that often feature surreal situations, fragmented timelines, and supernatural elements. He was awarded the Golden Lion for lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2006 and an honorary Oscar in 2019 for ?a lifetime of artistic accomplishment.? He was also a four-time Oscar nominee in competitive categories, including three times for best director for 1980?s ?Elephant Man,? 1986?s ?Blue Velvet? and ?Mulholland Drive? from 2001.
In 2024, Lynch announced that he had been diagnosed with emphysema after many years of smoking, and that he was largely ?housebound? due to the risks of contracting Covid-19. After sharing the news, Lynch assured his supporters that he planned to keep working, writing that despite his diagnosis, ?I am filled with happiness, and I will never retire.?

Lynchs death hits me for so many reasons. His films were a big part of my Gen X goth teen years. So many of his twisted and beautiful scenes live rent free in my head. I still think about the car crash in Wild at Heart where Sherilyn Fenns character picks at her broken skull. The scene in Blue Velvet where Dean Stockwell sings Roy Orbison in Dennis Hoppers drug den is one of the most iconic in film history. Lynch helped establish the careers of incredible actors like Isabella Rosselini, Naomi Watts and Kyle MacLachlan. Whats more is that he helped popularize transcendental meditation, which has helped so many people, me included. Plus he was an outspoken curmudgeon who always spoke his mind.
Tributes are coming in from so many people who worked with him and were influenced by his work, including actors, directors, film organizations and crew. It was a priviledge and a joy to witness his weird dark genius and he will be missed.
This was Lynchs last on screen role, as director John Ford in Spielbergs The Fabelmans.

Justin Baldoni and his publicists sued Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and their publicist Leslie Sloane on Thursday, January 16. Blake, Ryan and Leslie Sloane are being sued for $400 million. The whole situation has become radioactive, and yet Baldoni?s countersuit is also a gossip goldmine. As people are reading through the lawsuit, several pieces of information have already jumped out.
Blake probably didn?t read Colleen Hoover?s book? According to the lawsuit, Lively made wrongheaded creative decisions that reflected her fundamental lack of understanding of the book the film was based on?This came as no surprise to her worried colleagues, given that, even well into production, Lively had not even read the book, the lawsuit alleged of the actress, 37. A text message from Baldoni to Heath thats included in the lawsuit says that the creative team read and re-read Hoovers novel, and afterward combined scenes to heighten the stakes for Baldonis character Ryle Kincaid in pursuit of Livelys character Lily Bloom, utilizing humor and his desire to sleep with her. While I understand Blakes reasons for not wanting to read the book, the book does a very good job in getting in Lilys mind during her interactions with Ryle and setting up the WHY behind her attraction to him, which ultimately helps us understand why she stays in the end, the text message included in the lawsuit reads. She even tried to ?Google? the color of her character?s hair rather than pick up the book, court documents allege.
The ?it smells so good? conversation: Baldoni recalled filming a scene with Lively where she apologized for the smell of her spray tan and body makeup. Baldoni responded, ?It smells good,? and continued acting. (In Lively?s paperwork filed last month, she told a different story about Baldoni?s remark, claiming: ?At one point, he leaned forward and slowly dragged his lips from her ear and down her neck as he said, ?It smells so good.? None of this was remotely in character, or based on any dialogue in the script, and nothing needed to be said because, again, there was no sound.?)
Blake told Baldoni that he needed a nose job: Baldoni alleged in his latest filing that Lively soon ?began to joke about Baldoni?s nose, which he laughed off and joked in turn, even as Lively joked that he should get plastic surgery.? ?While on the one hand, Lively accuses Baldoni of making comments about her appearance, on the other she made derogatory comments about Baldoni?s appearance, telling him he should undergo rhinoplasty (a nose job) ? something Baldoni has publicly expressed insecurities about and has discussed on an episode of his podcast, ?Man Enough,? exploring the topic of body dysmorphia,? court documents stated. ?Lively?s comment about Baldoni?s nose is also captured on camera. Baldoni, rather than write down a list of grievances against Lively, brushed it off and moved on with the scene.?
Blake refused to meet with reps from a domestic violence charity: Wayfarer decided that one percent of the film?s proceeds would be donated in support of survivors of domestic abuse. No More, an organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence by increasing awareness, inspiring action, and fueling culture change, would be chosen as the recipient. Baldoni?s team alleged in court documents that Lively ?refused the opportunity to meet with No More, despite playing the lead role in a movie centered on themes of survival and resilience in the face of domestic abuse.? He also claimed Lively was irresponsible with her promotion of the film, pointing out that her alcohol line, Betty Booze, was involved in some of the marketing, which he found problematic as domestic violence statistics link alcohol and abuse. Unbelievably, Lively made this harmful and irresponsible message worse by naming a drink at her premiere afterparty ?Ryle You Wait,?? he wrote in the docs.
Blake thought Lily Bloom was rich: Lively allegedly ignored the director?s vision for her character when picking out her looks for the movie. ?At one point, Lively insisted that her character ?had money? and could afford $5,000 shoes?despite being a fledgling small business owner,? court documents alleged. According to the lawsuit, Lively also often refused to participate in wardrobe fittings at a production office 15 minutes from her home. Instead, ?she insisted that the costume department pack up wardrobe and deliver it to her personal residence,? which took time and money.

So, I watched It Ends With Us before all of the lawsuits started, and the money stuff was driving me crazy. The film couldn?t decide if Lily Bloom was rich or poor or wore designer clothes or thrift store finds or how she had the money to start a flower shop. I couldn?t even tell how old Lily Bloom was supposed to be there were so many moments where I thought Blake was (unconvincingly) playing Lily as a woman in her early 20s. The fact that Blake just fking refused to read the book is one of the funniest things I?ve ever heard in my gdamn life though. It makes a lot of sense, having seen the movie Blake was apparently doing all of these bizarre rewrites and Googling her character?s bio rather than just spending a day reading the book. No wonder her promotion was ?wear your florals and buy my booze? as well. I?m also screaming at the ?Ryle You Wait? cocktail.
