Katie Holmes recently posted some photos to Instagram of daughter Suri, with Suri’s face strategically covered, at a birthday party for Katie’s mom, Kathleen, in New York City. Katie’s family lives in her native Ohio, but they come to visit her and Suri in New York often. It’s a good thing that Katie is close to her family as they seem to have been instrumental in helping her divorce Tom and escaped from Scientology (Katie’s dad is a lawyer). In a new interview with People, Katie heaps praise on her mom and says that she hopes to parent Suri, 10, the same way she was – with kindness and generosity:
When it comes to raising daughter Suri, Katie Holmes looks to her own mom, Kathleen, for parenting cues.
“She’s just so kind and has such a pure heart; she really leads with those two qualities, so I try to do the same,” Holmes, 37, told PEOPLE at the Sept. 8 opening of the restaurant Avra Madison in New York City.
“She’s just so kind and very generous, so I try my best to embody that and pass that on to my own daughter,” Holmes says.
The night before the restaurant launch ? which the actress-director hosted ? Holmes took her mother as her date to the re-opening of the Cartier Mansion in New York, an outing that doubled as a birthday celebration for Kathleen.
“It’s always a blessing to be able to have time with my mom ? especially time in the city with her,” Holmes says. “We always have a good time.”

That’s really sweet and I can definitely relate. I live in the same town as my mom and I hang out with her a couple of times a week and it still doesn’t feel like enough. And only recently have I realized how much she gave up for us and what an incredible parent and grandparent she is. Love you mom!
While it may seem like a shame that Tom Cruise seems to have decided to cut off his daughter after Katie left him and Scientology, Suri has a very practical mother who is working to give her a normal life, with family and friends around them. Considering how deep Tom is in the cult, I can imagine the alternative and it’s chilling.
Here’s a photo of Katie with her mom last week at a Cartier event. Her dress is Valentino and it’s basically a beige-colored tulle sack with sparkly moons and butterflies on it. So fug. In the header photo, the white pants with the off the shoulder crop sweater, she’s wearing H&M collection. I kind of dig that outfit.

Back when Beyonc?s Lemonade came out, the majority of us wanted to know just who the hell Becky with the Good Hair was. As Kaiser covered, Rita Ora was once a Becky suspect, to which she issued an adamant denial. She didn?t say she wasn?t Becky, just that she idolized both Beyonc and Jay Z, with whom she recently settled a lawsuit over a contract dispute with his record label. Rita was interviewed by Vanity Fair to discuss her new record deal and her hosting gig at America?s Next Top Model. Interviewer Lisa Robinson asked Rita how things were with Jay and Bey. Rita tried to avoid riling up the Beyhive again but ended by throwing a little mud in their direction.
L.R.: Are you still friendly with Jay Z?
R.O.: First and foremost, Jay Z is my inspiration and one of my idols?lyrically, musically, business-wise. I still look up to him and his wife every day. Beyonc was one of my biggest idols growing up.
L.R.: You?along with other women?were embroiled in the ?Becky with the good hair? brouhaha after Beyonc released Lemonade. You posted a photo of yourself on Snapchat wearing a bra with a lemon print from your clothing line, and you wore a ?Not Becky? pin at a Met Ball after-party.
R.O.: That [pin] was a present from Katy Perry. Maybe I was the only one seen wearing it, but there were others. As for the rest of it, I?m oblivious, I?m just not the gossip queen. I find it incredibly rude and disrespectful to women in general [when] we get accused of something that?s basically against the important part?the music.

Rita is the queen of talking around a point, isn?t she? ?Are you Becky?? ?I love those guys!? ?Are you pissed at Jay Z?? ?Beyonc was my hero!? ?Why did you put yourself into the Becky conversation?? ?Feminism. And Music is important, Rude-y McRudeston!? I agree that baseless accusations are rude but if Beyonc issues a written invitation to figure out who was messing with her man and you look like you just got done brushing your hair? Duck and cover. I wax and wane on Katy Perry but the fact that she was passing out ?Not Becky? pins at the Met Ball made me fall a little in love with her. Anyone who walks into a powderkeg with a pocketful of flints is somebody I want to get a drink with.

Robinson also manages to bring up Rita?s ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris not allowing her to perform their songs. Rita once again walked around the question, ending cryptically with, ?Love is so great, but it also can be the most dangerous thing on planet earth. People do crazy things when it comes to jealousy and love.?
Speaking of crazy, can someone explain this outfit to me?

For some reason, I enjoy Rooney Mara?s misery. It makes me happy. It is, perhaps, my constant. Rooney has been in Toronto promoting several projects at TIFF. Over the weekend, it was Lion, a film where she has a supporting role and she looked absolutely PAINED on the red carpet. These photos are from last night?s premiere of Una, a film in which she has a lead role. And she perked up for a little bit, perhaps because the film is being sold on her name. Perhaps she perked up a bit because the film actually does need to be sold ? it still doesn?t have American distribution, despite the fact that many critics are calling it one of Rooney?s best performances. More on that in a moment!
First, let?s talk about her dress. It?s Louis Vuitton and it looks like they tailored it specifically for Rooney?s very small proportions. The leather ?vest? part looks like it fits like a glove. I actually love this on Rooney and it suits her really well. It might even be one of the best LV dresses I?ve seen in a while. How is it that LV got it right for Rooney but they?re constantly giving Alicia Vikander all of the milkmaid costumes?
As for the movie Una? Rooney plays a woman who was abused at the age of 13, and she creates a plan to confront the man who abused her as a child. The film also stars Ben Mendelsohn (as the abuser) and Riz Ahmed (as Una?s new friend). It looks interesting, but… I also sort of get why the film is still looking for distribution.

Here are some photos of Olivia Wilde at TIFF almost a week ago. I was surprised when I saw these photos because I didn?t realize she was this far along in her second pregnancy. Olivia announced her pregnancy back in April, just as her son Otis Sudeikis was turning 2 years old. By my calculations, that means that?s probably? eight or nine months pregnant. Well into her third trimester, in any case, and really obviously and visibly, heavily pregnant. You would think that this would be the phase of pregnancy when the whole world would make way for a big ol? preggo lady. You would think that she would constantly get offers to sit down and take a load off, wherever she goes. You would be wrong. Apparently, when Olivia rides the subway, no one offers up their seat to the giant pregnant lady:

I side-eyed Amy Schumer?s need for attention yesterday. However, Tara Reid just made Amy?s antics look positively demure. Tara is in New Jersey filming a movie called Worthless. At least I think she is – Sunday she said she was flying to Philadelphia to film it. Worthless is, according to the writers and cast, a feature film that addresses bullying. To promote the movie, Tara thought this would be a good idea:
