Eva Mendes famously plays her hand close to the vest when it comes to her family. If we know anything about her life with partner, Ryan Gosling or her two girls, Esmeralda, six, and Amada, four, it?s only because Eva allowed us that small glimpse. I applaud her for it, I think everyone should be allowed to keep their family out of the public eye if that?s important to them. Since lockdown has been in place, Eva has opened up ever so slightly on parenting while quarantined. Nothing salacious. If anything, she is posting accessible content, reaching out to fellow moms who might be having a hard time as we near the one-year anniversary of Stay At Home here in California. On Tuesday, Eva posted a photo of herself in a robe with a caption about parenting during quarantine that was both humorous and recognizable. In her caption, she said full time parenting was starting to get to her and added a few IG?s she?s been following that?s helped her get through so far:
Full on Mom mode.
I?ve graduated from my man?s sweats to a robe. All day. File under: stopped caring for now. (And anyone else out there go horse-like on selfie mode?)
These days my kids are getting my full on attention. It?s challenging for sure but they need me now more than ever. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here?s a list of parenting pages that are getting me through so thought I?d share

This is the latest in a collection of posts in which Eva admits lockdown has been getting tougher. Again, she doesn?t unload with specifics or lengthy paragraphs about where she is. She gives more general information that is completely relatable to anyone in the same headspace. Sometimes her comments are just funny momisms. And sometimes there?s weight behind her humor in which she lets her followers know that its hard right now. I know some of you are really enjoying your time at home and have been lucky enough to secure your income. If this period has been good for you, thats great and you have every right to enjoy it. But for those who aren?t thriving right now, I feel you. Eva has young kids. I?ve said a few times I don?t know how I would have gotten through this with toddlers or babies. For all you moms of small children, I salute you. I checked out the IGs Eva suggested above, they are geared towards younger children and look good. Themompsychologist and latinxparenting especially had some good lists and series to check out.
My kids aren?t young, so I can?t exactly identify with Eva, but I relate in another way. Without boring you guys, I?ll just say I feel the schools in my area are failing the students. Both my kids confidences are shattered so I have to rebuild them and their grades. Or, as Eva put it, Ive had to become full on. This pandemic is difficult, guys. And with the end date constantly getting pushed back, it seems like were never getting out of it. I think Evas got the right idea. Take it one day at a time, do what we need to but its okay to say its rough every once in a while. And if you have any tips and tricks that make it better, pass them along to each other.

| Eva Mendes: 'We?re trying to teach the kids Spanish & it's harder than I thought' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When I was a kid, I never picked up any of the languages my dad spoke, probably because he rarely spoke those languages at home. He just spoke English at home, and only Bengali or Hindi when he was on the phone to India. Now that I?m an adult, I regret that I didn?t try harder to pick up those languages, and I?ve always admired people who grew up speaking another language growing up with immigrant parents or English-as-a-second-language parents. Eva Mendes who is Cuban-American is trying to teach her daughters (Esmeralda and Amada) Spanish by speaking Spanish a lot in the home, with her mom and sister. But the girls have only picked up a vague Spanglish way of speaking:
Kids say the darndest things, dont they?! While on The Talk on Monday morning, the extremely private Eva Mendes opened up about her long-time love Ryan Gosling and their two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee Gosling. The Lost River star shared the cute hiccup she and her 38-year-old partner are experiencing as they teach their little girls how to speak Spanish.
Well the Spanish in my home Im Cuban and were trying to teach the kids Spanish, and its harder than I thought, the 45-year-old fashion designer and actress explained. I speak Spanglish and thats what theyre picking up. So its adorable but its technically not a language. Its Spanglish. She continued, So our little girl will be like, Mommy, my boca (mouth) hurts because I think something got stuck in my diente (tooth). Its so cute but that is not really gonna go great out there.
[From E! News]
I wonder if Ryan Gosling speaks Spanish? My guess is that he does not (or at least not fluently) and that?s probably one of the reasons why the girls aren?t picking it up so quickly, because they don?t hear daddy speaking Spanish to mom. Still, even Spanglish is better than nothing little kids are sponges and it?s easier to pick up other languages when you?ve been exposed to them at a very young age.

| Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling secretly married, 'infatuated with each other' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hey girl, while you were mourning the Year That Love Died (credit: Hecate), Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling affirmed their relationship by secretly getting married! This makes me happier than it otherwise would, especially considering that we always have to use these turban photos of them together and I never really cared about them as a couple. Somehow they went underground with their relationship after a very paparazzi-friendly courtship and now they have two kids together and have made it official. They got married at some indeterminate date “earlier this year” attended by friends and family and yet we’re only just learning about it now. I love this and how under the radar they’ve been. They only come out to promote stuff and they’re not over the top about their love at all.
US Magazine has this story and they feature Eva and Ryan’s secret wedding as a sidebar on the cover. Jana Kramer, a country singer and DWTS contestant I’ve barely heard of, takes the cover with her confessional about being married to a sex addict. This just brings home to me how much US, and also People, have missed the boat with their covers this week in the wake of the Brangelina split. It’s like Angelina dropped the divorce news in time for the celebrity outlets to pick it up too and no one was agile enough. Here’s US’s story and it’s just a blurb really with some nice quotes Ryan gave about his older daughter earlier this month:
The La La Land actor and his love of five years, Eva Mendes, quietly tied the knot earlier this year among a small group of family and friends, multiple sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly.
?Eva and Ryan have always felt like a married couple,? says a source close to Mendes, who starred in the 2012 drama, The Place Beyond the Pines, with Gosling. ?They are infatuated with each other.?
And their little brood. While he worked in Toronto September 12, Gosling?s mind kept drifting back home to his girls. ?I?m a lucky man,? the 35-year-old gushed to Us of Mendes, 42, and their daughters, Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 4 months, at the Toronto International Film Festival. ?We couldn?t be happier. They are so sweet.?
Gosling is also protective of his leading ladies. ?I take my little girl to the park, and we always write her name in chalk, and some kid has been erasing her name and writing their name over it,? he revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May. “And this kid has access to an unfair amount of chalk. My little girl doesn’t care; she’s like, ‘Well, let’s just chalk anywhere else.’ And I’m like, ‘No! They’re disrespecting your mother because she gave you this name, and they’re erasing it. So the only way to really get back at them is to erase their name. And not disrespect their mother, but definitely put her on notice.’”
[From US Magazine]
You know what makes me think that these two are the real deal? (Other than the fact that they haven’t been doing a ton of photo ops or gushing about each other?) The nice story about how Ryan rented Frank Sinatra’s former Palm Springs resort for Eva for her birthday earlier this year. They brought their daughter with them too, which just shows that they’re a close family. (Their youngest wasn’t born yet.) Plus Ryan did say, very briefly last year, that Eva was the “the person I?m supposed to be with.” Congratulations to Eva and Ryan! I hope they agree on parenting issues.

Eva Mendes has a fashion line with New York and Company, which is of course how many celebrities earn revenue and seems smart on her part. She’s been with them since 2013 and last year they extended their agreement up until 2019 so it’s obviously a mutually beneficial partnership. Eva has a new interview with ET Online discussing her fashion line, which had a show at NYFW. ET had a brief video of the show and they had models of all sizes, which was nice to see. She talked about her love of dresses because they’re easy to get on and off and joked that her fashion sense involves finding clothing without vomit on it. Eva and her partner, Ryan Gosling, have daughters Amada, four months, and Esmeralda, who turns two next week. She also said that she’s not in talks to do Fast 8, as has been rumored. (She was in the second and fifth one and IMDB has her listed for Fast 8, but she says that’s not happening.)
ET caught up with the always fashionable actress at her New York & Company Spring Summer 2017 runway show at Academy Mansion in New York City on Tuesday, where she dished on how her fashion has changed thanks to her two daughters –1-year-old Esmeralda and 4-month-old Amada — with longtime love Ryan Gosling.
“I’ll just wear anything clean at this point,” Mendes joked. “If it doesn’t have baby vomit on it, I’ll wear it!”
The 42-year-old actress is similarly down-to-earth when it comes to her personal style. Mendes — who admits to using baby powder as a dry shampoo alternative — prefers nothing too constricting.
“I really love dresses and anything that’s really comfortable — not, like, jeans that are hard to get on and off,” she explains.
Indeed, Mendes looked chic in a lace burgundy dress at the event — a piece from her own New York & Company collection that retails for $80 — which she added sleeves to.
As for her acting career, the mother of two debunked rumors that she’ll be reprising her role as agent Monica Fuentes in the upcoming Fast 8, the latest installment in the Fast and Furious franchise.
“It’s not even in discussion,” Mendes said.
[From ET Online]
Eva made that joke about checking for vomit on her clothing a couple of months ago too, when she was promoting her beauty line with Circa Beauty. It’s probably true that she has to make sure she doesn’t have baby puke on her before she goes out. (I don’t miss that time!) As for what she said about dresses, I feel exactly the same. In fact Jessica at Go Fug Yourself wrote something strikingly similar that last month, and I remember it because I tweeted about it. She wrote “I personally love a dress. They are so easy! You can just throw one on and it’s your whole outfit!” And, like Jessica when she wrote that, I’m wearing a dress now too. Wrap dresses and jersey dresses are my favorite, especially in the summer because they’re light and you feel like you’re both casual and dressy enough to go anywhere.
As for Mendes’ style backstage at Fashion Week, I like the lace burgundy dress and would definitely wear that, but the stockings don’t seem like they go with it. It’s kind of overkill with the stockings because the patterns compete somewhat. Also the turban is back! Eva is wearing a turban again and I love that. She’s going to bring turbans back. Nick Cannon already got the memo. (Update: and Alicia Keys!)

| Eva Mendes's 'main priority' is raising her daughters with Cuban influences | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Eva Mendes speaks! Which is pretty rare these days. I used to think Eva was all hustle with her weekly pap strolls and Ryan Gosling name-drops. But things change and Eva really, really went underground. So underground that she successfully managed to hide two pregnancies almost completely. Photos of Eva are somewhat rare these days ? she doesn?t go to premieres because she hasn?t made a movie in years, but she still has side projects, like her collaboration with NY & Co and more. Plus, she still gets pap?d once in a blue moon, and maybe once a year, she?ll talk to a magazine. This year, that magazine is Latina Mag. You can read the full piece here, but just beware: the way the Latina site is set up, it?s really annoying to try to read the full piece. Eva chats about her babies, about raising half-Cuban girls, and why both of her daughters have the name Amada.
How motherhood has changed her: ?Well, I have two girls. That?s a lot. It?s early for me to make any big statement about having children. My older little girl is not yet 2 years old. My little one is still an infant, and right now it?s really about surviving those nights and trying to enjoy this time as much as possible with them, and start the bond between Esmeralda and Amada. It?s a really, really special time. I?m loving it.?
If & when she?ll return to acting: ?I?m not sure, but it would definitely take something really special. I don?t like saying ?take me away,? but essentially that?s what work does. I think it can be very, very healthy if it?s something that feels worthwhile. Right now I feel very fortunate to be home with my kids. I feel so lucky, and I?m just taking advantage of that.
Her Cuban father still doesn?t speak English, despite living in LA: ?Yeah, my father is like 70-something. It?s not happening. It used to frustrate me, and now I think it?s really cute? it?s cool, exactly. That?s a good sign of the times, isn?t it? When I was younger, and me and my mom would go to the mall, she would be speaking in Spanish, and I?d be embarrassed. I was 12 or 13 years old at that time, and all I wanted to do was fit in. Anything that made me different, I didn?t want to embrace, which is the opposite now. And hopefully as you get older, you realize that your quirks and what makes you different are the things to celebrate. Cut to now, I?m just like, Mami, como se hacen los frijoles as? I?m just so proud of my whole culture, of where I come from. I wish I?d had that insight when I was 13. I fought it for a while, for sure.
Infusing her home with Cuban influences: ?We?re constantly playing Cuban music. I speak to them in Spanish, and my mom speaks to Esmeralda in Spanish. Well, now she speaks to both of them in Spanish. Any time I have an opportunity to introduce her or them?I have to say ?them? now, though my newborn just sleeps all the time?to my culture, whether it?s through music, or through food, I do. That is a main priority, for sure.
Losing her brother Carlos & giving birth to Amada Lee: ?Losing my brother brought our family closer, and we were already close to begin with. So to just see everybody be there for one another and show up, I feel so lucky to have them. And then they were there for me when Amada was born. We had a funeral service for him and that same week I had the baby. So it was really, really intense and obviously beyond heart-breaking, but also kind of beautiful. And being totally honest, I don?t feel like I?ve really processed that yet.
Why both of her daughters have the name Amada: ?My grandmother?s name is Amada, and Esmeralda Amada is the name of our oldest. We had a few names picked out for our new baby, and when she was born, we didn?t feel like those names were her. We came up with a few more, even that morning, and tried them out. We were like, ?What about Viviana?? But we just kept going back to Amada. In true Latin fashion, we reuse names all the time. I used to know five sisters that were all Maria del Carmen, Maria Elena, Maria Liliana?.I actually told Ryan, ?This is common in Latin culture, so it wouldn?t be crazy.? So we went with Amada because it was something we kept going back to. And it was an emotional time with the passing of my brother. We thought how beautiful to go with what made us emotional and with what felt like her. When we looked at her, we thought, ?Aww, Amadita.? And my mom?s name is Eva. We even thought about Eva III. And we were like, ?You know what? Maybe that?s a bit much.?
[From Latina]
I often get the feeling that Ryan Gosling is just surrounded by feminine energy ? more specifically, Cuban-feminine energy ? as soon as he walks into his house. Eva has made consistent references to how her mom and her sisters are always helping with the babies, so much so that I would bet that Eva, her mom and her sisters are constantly in Eva and Ryan?s home. Plus, the two baby girls. But Ryan seems fine with it? He probably even likes it. He gets bossed around by Cuban women for hours and it makes him happy!
As for the name thing? I guess that makes sense. I?m fine with people reusing the same name for two kids, but I do wonder if Amada Lee is going to wonder why she couldn?t have her own name separate from Esmeralda Amada.

I will never stop using the turban photos. Just FYI.
Ryan Gosling is currently promoting The Big Short, the true story of how a handful of dudes figured out that the American housing market was going to crash and burn in 2008. Gosling has not been front and center during the promotion, although? no one has. Gosling hasn?t gotten any magazine covers, but neither has Brad Pitt (the producer/star) or Christian Bale or Steve Carrel. This was supposed to be an Oscar-bait movie, but it really doesn?t feel like anyone is pushing it hard. Which is possibly why Gosling is finally giving up some details about what life is like with Eva Mendes and their daughter Esmeralda.
Ryan Gosling is a proud father, partner and, of course, Canuck. ?I love being Canadian,? he tells us, adding, ?I think growing up in Canada gives you a world perspective that I certainly enjoy.?
The 35-year-old actor recently sat down with Hello! for an exclusive chat about celebrating the holidays with longtime love Eva Mendes and their adorable one-year-old daughter, Esmeralda.
?This will be our first Christmas where [Esmeralda is] sort of taking it all in, so that?s exciting,? gushed the handsome actor, who welcomed his daughter in September 2014. One thing the Notebook star isn?t as excited about is his mother?s choice in holiday tunes. ?She?s obsessed with the Hanson Christmas album! No disrespect to Hanson, they?re very talented kids, but I think I?ve heard that record enough. I?m sure it will be on a loop this Christmas as well.?
Fatherhood has come easy for Ryan, who says it’s ?not rocket science.? And as much love and devotion as he has for his baby girl, the star is just as besotted with her mom, Eva. ?I know that I?m with the person I?m supposed to be with,? he says, adding that the only quality he looks for in a woman is “that she?s Eva Mendes. There?s nothing else I?m looking for.?
[From Hello Canada]
Wow. That?s the most he?s ever said about his girlfriend/partner of more than four years. And I guess he wants to push back on the near-constant rumors that he and Eva are done, that they?re barely co-parenting, that he?s spending a lot of time with Emma Stone. Ryan believes Eva is ?the person I?m supposed to be with.? So there you go, Hey Girls. Fatherhood is not rocket science. He loves being a Canadian. He?s supposed to be with Eva. He hates the Hanson Christmas album. Damn, this was a good interview from Gosling.
Gosling will be hosting this weekend?s SNL, and they released a bunch of promos:

| Eva Mendes is coming for your jeans: 'I think jeans are really uncomfortable' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Eva Mendes is all about dresses and skirts. She?s all about ?femininity? and pleasing her man. She?s also all about shilling for her dress line, the Eva Mendes Collection, with New York & Company. That?s why she?s been doing so much press the past few weeks ? she?s shilling for her latest collaboration with NY&Co, plus I guess she has a line of drugstore cosmetics now? Who would have thought that Ryan Gosling would have ended up with the kind of lady who A) shills her own line of drugstore cosmetics and B) shills her own line of affordable dresses at a mall store?
Anyway, her shilling got her into trouble last week when she ?joked? about sweatpants and how they were the #1 cause of divorce. She later had to take it back (claiming that it was all said in jest) and even Gosling had to help a sister out on his Twitter. But now Eva is coming after your comfortable pants again!!! She has a new interview with Who What Wear and she?s coming after JEANS. Not the jeans!! NO!
Whether having a baby affected her style: ?I don?t think it?s affected anything actually! I feel like I?ve always been kind of rushed?I?m the girl who gets ready really, really quickly. It?s not something I?m incredibly proud of! I wish I was really calm and poised and?for lack of a better word?zen, but I?m not! I just don?t enjoy the getting ready process, although I do like the result.
She doesn?t consider herself a ?jeans & t-shirt person?: ?I love a soft pant, so I make sure they?re included in every collection. But if you see me in jeans it?s probably because all my skirts are at the dry cleaners or just dirty. I mean, I think jeans are really uncomfortable actually?aren?t they? They?re so restrictive! I always prefer a boyfriend jean, but I find those to be restrictive, too! It?s not unrealistic to see me in an outfit like this at home [points to her skirt], just without the belt and the shoes. I?d wear this with a loose tee or a tank top.
[From Who What Wear]
To defend her for a second? some jeans ARE uncomfortable. That?s why women search far and wide for the perfect pair of jeans. It?s a lifelong search in most cases. I remember great pairs of jeans more than I remember most men, honestly. I had the BEST pair of jeans in college. I think they were a thrift-store find, and the leg was perfect for me at the time (boot cut flare, just the right length) and the rise was that perfect not-too-high and not-too-low. They had a great medium wash too. Sigh? I miss those jeans.
My current favorite jeans? No judgment, okay? LL Bean Knit Jeans. They wear like sweatpants, they?ve got the perfect amount of stretch and the leg is perfect (for me). But hey, don?t look at me. I?m the very definition of a ?jeans & t-shirt girl.?

Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you're the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs.

Eva Mendes spoke to Extra yesterday, because for some reason, Eva is back to talking to the press in a big way. For much of 2014, Eva went radio silent. We found out later that she went underground as soon as she started showing with her pregnancy, although we didn?t learn about the pregnancy until she was like seven months along. Before her pregnancy, Eva was more pap-friendly, and she played the game of ?not talking about Ryan Gosling while still making references to him constantly.? Well, that?s what she?s reverted back to. And during her Extra interview, she talked about her style ? she prefers dresses to pants ? and her theory on how to keep her man happy.
Motherhood is putting a lot of things into perspective for Eva Mendes, including just how appreciative she is for her own mother. The actress revealed that her sleepless nights and long days with her baby girl Esmeralda can be grueling, but she also confesses that it’s made her praise her mom that much more.
“Now I understand so much, my mother’s never gotten more ‘I love you so much mommy’ texts, I mean, randomly? ya, I get it now,” she told Extra during an interview, and adds that although the 6-month-old sleeps through the night now (yay!), there are still a few nights when baby Esme throws mama for a loop.
“But you never know, right, something random can happen and she’s just suddenly not sleeping through the night and you’re like, wait, I thought we were sleeping through the night, what’s up?!” She laughed, “Why does it always happen at three or four in the morning?!”
Mendes also revealed her secret rule to keeping one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men happy at home?and unfortunately, it may be a tough pill to swallow for some of us. Most of us. “You can’t do sweatpants? ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!”
[From E News]
Are you kidding me? ?You can’t do sweatpants? ladies, number one cause of divorce in America!? If sweatpants are causing divorces, maybe we should rethink MARRIAGE entirely. While she said it in a joking manner, I get the sense that she really does feel that she ?can?t? wear sweatpants. Because she?s all about ?pleasing her man? or whatever. Don?t get me wrong, I?m not saying any woman is a horrible person for putting in some effort with their style or trying to look nice for their husband/SO. But there are times when sweatpants are awesome. There are times when a woman wants to hit the ?off? switch and not feel the need to ?look cute? for her significant other and she should be able to do that without it being a divorceable offense.
Oh, and all of this comes from a woman who thinks turbans are the height of sophistication.

Eva Mendes covers the new issue of Women?s Health. Not a great cover, right? I?m not Eva?s biggest fan or anything, but she?s a beautiful woman who is extraordinarily photogenic. Why choose a photo where she?s, like, mid-sentence? In the interview, Eva talks about being a mom to baby Esmeralda, her diet, and how she really believes in therapy. Some highlights:
Esmeralda isn?t sleeping: “I’m actually enjoying the sleepless nights because it’s bonding with my little girl.?
Parenting advice: She says she hasn’t “earned the right” to give mom advice. “I want to respect all the moms out there. They’re going to be like, ?You know what? You’re a few months in. Just shut up.”
Her workouts: “I realized a long time ago that I needed to have some kind of routine,” she shares of her fitness plan, which includes running and interval sprints. “I don’t love it, but I’ve made peace with that.” Mendes also lifts weights but “nothing too heavy, because my muscle bulks up pretty easily. I mix it up with yoga, or sometimes I’ll hike with my trainer.”
Her diet: “I haven’t eaten meat in about six years, because I don’t agree with factory farming here. This is just what worked for me, it’s important to say, but when I cut that out I immediately felt better. And also, after a year of eliminating it, my skin looked brighter and healthier overall.”
Mental health: “Having [a therapist] who’s totally objective and who points out my patterns? I find that really helpful. And I’m lucky to work with someone who doesn’t just sit there and nod her head, you know? I need to hear what you think! Tell me what’s wrong with me so I can fix it!”
Privacy: “I believe there is a public self and a private self. My sisters and my good friends are experiencing that now [with] Facebook and Instagram. When they freak out about a friend of theirs posting a bad picture of them, I’m like, ?Well, imagine how I feel! Get used to it!’”
[From E! News]
Sounds like she?s in a pretty good place and enjoying being a mom. I find it interesting that this is her second magazine cover and interview since giving birth ? her first was with Violet Grey last fall ? and she really isn?t promoting anything. She?s just talking about the baby, motherhood, diet and her privacy. Hm.
Also: Ryan organized a special party for Eva?s 41st birthday last week ? he rented out the Moonlight Rollerway and they roller-skated the afternoon away with baby Esmeralda and friends and family.
