When Rebecca Ferguson was promoting Dune 2 a few months back, she gave a more extended interview to a podcast. Ferguson ended up revealing something which made international headlines: that she worked with a top-billed A-lister who was an ?absolute idiot,? a star who screamed at her and belittled her in front of cast and crew. Ferguson described being so upset, she basically went to the director and asked not to even have scenes with this actor. She was very careful in her description, to the point where people weren?t even sure if she was describing a man or a woman. It became a huge blind item and Rebecca?s former costars were all chiming in and screaming ?it?s not me, I?m not the one who treated her like sh-t!? Well, a few days ago, Ferguson appeared on The Jess Cagle Show and she was asked about the whole kerfuffle:
Rebecca Ferguson did not expect her comments about the idiot actor who made her cry on set to go viral. The Dune star said shes received phone calls from former costars for sharing her experience, but also noted that the identity of the unnamed actor who berated her is not important.
What I realized even at the age that I am now is it doesn?t matter, Ferguson said during a recent appearance on SiriusXMs The Jess Cagle Show. I am me. I definitely think I?m much more open. I also know where my boundaries are. But the point of the interview wasn?t about finding the person. Of course, people will be interested. But I was excited about the question, which was a very good question.
Because the point was, she continued, is there a point in your career where you were treated in a way where . . . you want change, or you will not accept it? And it was such a clear moment for me working with this person. But I got phone calls from amazing costars who I?ve worked with going, ?You understand what you?ve done, right??? Ferguson added, ?And I was like, ?Oh my God. No, I didn?t think.? I mean, it?s not my responsibility, to be honest. I don?t really care. You know, you?re great, but my story is my story, and if you?re a good person, then don?t worry about it.
Ferguson revealed on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast earlier this year that an absolute idiot of a costar made her cry and walk off set after they had screamed, You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with? She said at the time, Because this person was number one on the call sheet, there was no safety net for me. No one had my back.?
She said it was the first time she spoke up for herself on set, recalling that she told the unnamed costar to get off my set and F off. She wound up acting with the back of the costars head, and her director later backed her up. ?It was great from that moment, but it took so long for me to get to that,? Ferguson said.

Yeah, I think her initial intention was simply to describe a moment in her life/career where she was berated and she stood up for herself and set a professional boundary. In that sense, the story wasn?t about WHO did what, it was about how she reacted. That being said, of course people want to know the person?s identity! Rebecca is well-liked, even beloved by fans and coworkers. It?s sort a Me Too-adjacency thing too, while Rebecca didn?t describe being harassed or physically attacked, she was still treated in an unacceptable and abusive way. People want to know! People especially want to know if the person was Jake Gyllenhaal.

Adam West. Michael Keaton. Christian Bale. Ben Affleck. These are all actors who have famously played the Caped Crusader himself, Batman. (I left out Clooney on purpose, *but* I think his cameo in The Flash movie was perfection.) Batman is such a well worn-in property at this point that the chance to play him comes along like six times per generation. Jake Gyllenhaal has long-wanted to play the Dark Knight. And since James Gunn is (infamously) rebooting the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) since taking over in November 2022, he?s looking for a new Batman. In an interview with Screen Rant, Jake commented on fan rumblings about him playing Bruce Wayne?s alter ego, calling it an ?honor.?
Screen Rant: Jake, watching you in these action scenes was absolutely incredible. Like I said, it was deliciously visceral. But a while back, I know that you auditioned for the role of Batman, and I got some Batman vibes in this film when you were beating the crap out of people. Is that a role you?d still be interested in, especially after doing a movie like this?
Jake Gyllenhaal: Oh, man. That?s a classic. It?s an honor. Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, to me actually roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, which, to me, actually, when I think about it, I?m going to play Iago in Othello with Denzel Washington, and I think about like the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I?m intimidated by that. So that?s the first level. That?s what I?m working on right now. But of course. It would be an honor always. Those types of things and those roles are classics.

Alright, I know there?s a good amount of y?all on here who are into this stuff like I am. What are your thoughts at a potential Gyllenhaal Batman? I?m a very hard no on this one. He was fine as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home but?Batman? Bruce Wayne needs to be played by a certain type of actor and that is not Jake. ?But Rosie,? you may say, ?What about Robert Pattinson?? I did like the RPattz Batman movie a lot more than I expected to. I think it was because The Batman was an artsy, noir, whodunit version of the character set in an entirely different universe.
At the end of the day, let?s just stick with Maggie as the Gyllenhaal sibling who?s involved in a Batman movie. I suppose, however, if Jake wanted to, there?s always a villain or someone else he could play. There?s also that small matter of Jake?s personal hygiene. Will he commit to daily showers if he plays Batman? It gets hot in that suit, even without all of the ass-kicking. You know Bruce Wayne probably takes two to three showers a day. Anyway, if Aaron Taylor Johson really is going to be the next James Bond, then I put Idris Elba up for consideration for the role. Idris would make a fine Batman.

I really don?t have any patience for this current gossip cycle of white people telling the world that they stink and they refuse to bathe because of ?science.? Last week, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher proudly spoke about how infrequently they bathe and shower, and how infrequently they bathe their children. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell doubled down this week, with Kristen claiming that she doesn?t bathe her children ?until they smell bad.? It?s this whole big thing which I did not know about until now: (overwhelmingly) white people proudly discussing how they can go days and weeks without cleaning themselves or their children. Well, guess who is also a stinkass? Jake Gyllenhaal. Jake is currently promoting his new ad campaign for Prada?s Luna Rossa Ocean, and he chatted with Vanity Fair about the cologne. Buried within the interview was this:
VF: Is there anything revelatory about your shower ritual?
Gyllenhaal: I always am baffled that loofahs come from nature. They feel like they?ve been made in a factory but, in fact, it?s just not true. Since I was young, it?s amazed me. More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times. I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that. But I do also think that there?s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.

We do not naturally clean ourselves. And you can achieve ?skin maintenance? by showering and moisturizing daily. I only showered once yesterday, first thing in the morning, and I didn?t wash my hair yesterday at all (I barely left the house and I was too tired to shower last night). I woke up this morning a greasy, smelly mess from head to toe and I could not wait to get in the shower this morning. Are people really walking around constantly feeling like that and they?re like ?yes, this feels great, this is how I should feel?? I?m not saying every person and every child needs to take three 20-minute hot showers every day. But do you honestly not see a benefit in just your baseline physical and mental health to clean yourself at least once a day? IN A PANDEMIC?

Earlier this year, we heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was quietly dating a 22-year-old model named Jeanne Cadieu. Jeanne is 16 years younger than Jake. Their relationship made sense, according to sources, because Jeanne is ?very mature for her age.? Insert massive eyeroll. I wondered at the time if Jake really does exist as some kind of undercover Leo DiCaprio constantly dating young women in the 20-23 age range for about a year or less. We call Leo out on that sh-t because he tends to date more famous models and because his girlfriends want us to know they?re dating so that they can get more work off of his name. Jake?s girlfriends aren?t as in-our-faces about it, but there?s a clear Leo-esque strategy, right? Anyway, Jake and Jeanne are still together. Probably because she?s so mature for her age.
Things are heating up between Jake Gyllenhaal and his French model girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu. We hear Cadieu has met his family and that they?ve been on a trip to Martha?s Vineyard together. Cadieu has also been spotted at previews of Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge?s Broadway play ?Sea Wall/A Life.?
They?re even participating in an art project together. The ?Inside Out? photo exhibition, which features portraits of both Cadieu and Gyllenhaal, among many others, adorns the wall outside of the Hudson Theatre. The couple ? who were first linked back in December ? have also been turning up at events, including Gyllenhaal?s ?Spider-Man: Far From Home? premiere in June and a bash for Cartier in Paris in April.

I?m including some photos of Jeanne below, where she attended the LA premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Jake Gyllenhaal is in that, so she attended her boyfriend?s premiere but they didn?t pose together. They?ve never posed together from what I can find in all of our photo agency archives. They attend events together (movie premieres, play openings, Cartier parties) but never pose together? I mean? on one side, good for Jake for being so private. On the other side, seems like a lot of dumb work to avoid being seen with someone you allegedly care about so much. I feel like its A LOT of work to date Jake, right? Better her than me. Thats probably why he goes for the young ones women his own age dont want to put in all that dumb work.

Jake Gyllenhaal was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and it took a very bizarre turn in the opening. Jake revealed that Stephen had shown him his d*ck while they were working together on a skit for the midterm elections edition of Stephens show. Stephen was playing Scrooge in a old fashioned nightgown and he wasnt wearing underwear for some reason. That video of the interview is below and I didn?t fully get what was happening. ET Canada explains that better than I can. It was creepy, it seemed like it really happened and like Jake was uncomfortable and laughing about it. Is Colbert a royal creep like that?
Jake has a lot going on, he was just revealed as the villain Mysterio on the upcoming Spiderman: Far From Home movie, he is in an off Broadway play with Tom Sturridge called Sea Wall / A Life that starts in February, and he has an incredible looking horror movie coming up on Netflix called Velvet Buzzsaw. It costars Renee Russo (love her, how does she look the same as in Thomas Crowne?) and Toni Collette. Its premiering February first and it?s getting buzz as the next Bird Box. Have you seen the trailer for it? I am so excited!
This looks like one of those rare films that is campy and ridiculous but leans into it while being self aware enough not to get annoying. I can?t wait! Netflix has been bringing it for so long. It?s like the populace is being trained just to sit at home and binge shows but we love it. We?re all getting Stockholm Syndrome from Netflix.

In the past, I?ve tried to feel something, anything for Jake Gyllenhaal. He?s an attractive guy with soulful eyes and a great body. I think he?s a pretty good actor too. But I just feel nothing for him I?m not attracted to him, I don?t particularly care about him on-screen, and gossip about him is always pretty dull too. For years now, Jake has really tried to limit the personal gossip about his romantic life we?ll hear some rumors every so often about him having a girlfriend here or there, but nothing seems to stick. Is it possible that Jake is a lot like Leo DiCaprio, in that he just finds it easier and less complicated to date 21 or 22 year old models for 6-10 months at a time? Jake Gyllenhaal is promoting Stronger, the Boston Bombing movie where he plays real-life bombing victim Jeff Bauman, who lost his legs on that dreadful day. I only recently sat down and watched the trailer for this film and I was surprised by how little of the story was actually about what happened on the day. That?s a good thing – it?s about one man?s story, not the nitty-gritty of the terrorist attack. Anyway, for years now, Jake has often come across as an odd bird in interviews. It?s not that he?s ?prickly? per se, but you can just tell? he absolutely loathes doing press, hates talking about himself and really doesn?t want to answer any personal questions at all. He sat down with Elle Mag for an interview for Stronger. Some highlights:
What?s on his mind these days: ?I?ve been reading a lot about the American Revolution and recently binge-watched The Crown, so I?m really curious about the pros and cons of democracy versus a parliamentary system versus a monarchy. I?m a real joy to be around right now, as you can imagine.
On being set up on dates: ?People should do it more often. I absolutely encourage it. There should be more of that in my life. When you said ?Set you up,? I thought you meant for a prank.
Defining masculinity: ?Masculinity is, nowadays and generationally, confusing. What is honor, what is protection, what is being a man? It?s evolving. But I believe having an open heart?and a strong mind to protect that?is the idea.
On learning from his mother: ?Most of the things that I learn are from the women in my life. My mom would always say this thing about writing?and I?ve taken it into account in a lot of things in my life?which is just, ?Make it shorter.? Figure out what you are truly saying, whittle it down to the essence, then say that.?
What he learned from participating in the Women?s March: ?That there should be another one. And it should be bigger. Soon.
On first meeting Jeff Bauman (The character he plays in new film Stronger): ?I was nervous, it was initially awkward. I think there is, essentially, something fraudulent in what I do for a living. Ang Lee once said that as filmmakers, ?we pretend to get closer to the truth.? Inevitably, when you?re dealing with a real-life story, there?s the knowledge that nothing you can do will ever match what [Bauman] went through. Before I start anything, I question why I?m doing it. I think that?s the conundrum of any artist, maybe.

Has Jake Gyllenhaal gone completely method on us? The 36-year-old actor is making the promotional rounds for his upcoming sci-fi/horror flick, Life, where he plays an astronaut fighting a nasty alien life form picked up from Mars that is set on destroying the earth. In preparation for his role, Jake consulted with astronauts, trauma doctors and even worked with a zero-gravity-movement coach to effectively convey the physical and mental toll that space travel takes on a person. But, as far as the existence of life on other planets, Jake feels that we may not be alone out there. Jake told the New York Daily News that, ?I believe there?s so much yet to be explored. I think absolutely, there is no doubt in my mind ? whether or not they?re friendly or already here ? I think there?s a lot left to explore.?
As for making a movie that sounds like something we’ve all seen a million times before, Jake promises that the film will thrill. He told The Guardian that Life‘s screenplay left him ?legitimately terrified.? But, after dramatic turns in serious movies like Nocturnal Animals and Nightcrawler, Jake just wanted a little fun, confessing ?after playing role after role where I?ve given a ton of time in preparation, I made a resolution to just enjoy myself making a big, fun movie.?
There was lots of fun on the set, especially between Jake and his Life co-star, Ryan Reynolds. Jake told Variety at the film’s SXSW screening, ?We were laughing all the time. None of us, with the exception of me, takes themselves that seriously, so there was a really wonderful spirit on set the whole time.? In fact, Jake and Ryan have developed quite the bromance. Ryan told Good Morning America that ?He?s easily the most interesting actor working in Hollywood today.” He went on to say Jake was one of his favorite actors, as well as “one of the kindest guys I?ve ever met. We?re hanging out all the time. We live near each other. I live up in the ‘burbs.? And, to prove his affection for his friend/co-star, Ryan laid down the gauntlet, telling GMA that Jake is a better cook than his wife, actress Blake Lively. ?My wife is very good at cooking, and Jake might just be a little bit better. He can throw down. It gets very competitive.? If I were Blake, those would definitely be fighting words. I can’t begin to tell you how many cooking challenges Kevin and I have gone head-to-head on (and I must admit, we’re about 50/50 on wins and losses).
If Jake’s not busy enough, Jake has been burning up the Broadway stage with his performance as painter Georges Seurat in the revival of the Sondheim musical Sunday in the Park with George. Of his stage work, he told the Daily News he’s “finally found my home in a lot of ways,” adding, ?It?s been an incredible journey to Broadway with this piece and unexpected in all the best ways, and it feels like that every night too. It couldn?t really get any better to tell you the truth.? The theater nerd in me is delighted for Jake’s Broadway success. Not sure about Life, but two hours with Jake and Ryan can’t be all bad, right?

I just felt like something a little light for a moment. These are photos of Jake Gyllenhaal (seriously) and Tilda Swinton (for real) filming a new movie in New York over the weekend. They are filming Okja, directed by Joon-ho Bong, who also directed an unrecognizable Tilda in Snowpiercer. The plot of Okja is this: ?A young girl named Mija risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja.? It is being called ?adventure, drama, sci-fi? and some are even saying ?horror??
I honestly didn?t even recognize Tilda in these photos, but she?s always doing stuff like this. She loves to be in crazy makeup, wigs, fake teeth and more. I think it was Colin Firth who said something about how most actors secretly love all of that stuff, and most of them love the fact that they play dress-up for a living.
As for Jake? I didn?t recognize him at first, and that was probably the point. Jake?s career is all over the place, isn?t it? Some people really believe he?s one of the great actors of his generation, and some people are like ?ugh, Gyllenhaal.? I suspect that Jake just wanted to work with Joon-ho Bong, who is one of the most interesting directors working today.
PS? Remember when Jake Gyllenhaal dumped Taylor Swift over the phone? Haha, I wish Jake would tweet something about the #KimExposedTaylorParty.
