Back in September, Ryan Phillippe?s ex-girlfriend sued him after she claims he violently assaulted her in his home. Go here to re-read Elsie Hewitt?s original claims. She had only been dating Ryan for a short time, and he got pissy with her at a party, so she went by his house later to get her stuff and move on. She claims that was when he attacked her and threw her down a staircase. She had a witness – a girlfriend who was there – and she went to the police, although little came of it, which is why she filed the civil suit. Ryan responded by denying the entire thing and announcing plans to countersue Elsie for defamation. Then the situation went quiet for a few months. On Wednesday, Ryan tweeted this:

The last time we checked in on Ryan Phillippe, he was threatening to countersue his ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt after Hewitt sued him for allegedly assaulting her in his home earlier this year. I don?t know what?s going on with that, but I suspect we?ll be hearing more about it in the months to come. Elsie is only 21 years old – Ryan is 43. Ryan has always liked younger women, and he seems to adhere to The Leo DiCaprio Method – as soon as a lady turns 25, she?s no longer girlfriend material. So is it wrong that my first thought when encountering this story was ?wait, isn?t Demi Lovato ?too old? for him?? Demi Lovato is 25 years old. And Ryan was seen leaving her house ?in the wee hours? this past Saturday.
Here we go again?! Ryan Phillippe was spotted leaving ex Demi Lovato?s house in the wee hours of Saturday, Oct. 29 ? not long after the ?Sorry Not Sorry? singer threw a Halloween party. According to the Daily Mail, Ryan, 43, arrived around midnight, once all of Demi?s guests left. The outlet reports that the hunky actor eventually snuck out of the 25-year-old pop star?s pad at around 5 am, and then walked alone to his Cadillac as he smoked a vaporizer. As Lovatics are well aware, Demi and Ryan quietly dated in 2011, just one year after the Disney Channel alum broke up with Joe Jonas.
Though she and Ryan ? who shares daughter, Ava, 18, and son Deacon, 14, with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, and daughter Kai, 6, with ex Alexis Knapp ? may be rekindling their romance, Demi admitted in her new documentary Simply Complicated that no guy will ever compare to Wilmer Valderrama, whom she dated for six years.
?When I turned 18 we started dating,? she said in the film. ?I think it was love at first sight, we connected on a level that I?ve never connected with anybody before. He was just my rock, my everything. I?m pretty sure that I?m not going to meet anybody that compares to him, but I?m trying to keep an open heart and open mind when it comes to that.?
Demi has been single since May, when she called it quits with MMA fighter Guilherme ?Bomba? Vasconcelos. ?It wasn?t a dramatic split. Bomba is a good guy, but the relationship just ran its course,? a source previously told People of the couple, who were first linked together in July 2016.
When it comes to her love life, Demi said in Simply Complicated that she is open to finding love with either sex. ?I am open to human connection,? she said, adding that she?s ?always felt? physically attracted and emotionally connected to both men and women.

Her picker is broken when it comes to men. Maybe her picker would be better with women? And no, I didn?t remember that Demi had a thing with Ryan in 2011. She was what?? 19 years old back then. Until CB reminded me, I truly did not remember that Ryan Phillippe has had a serious girlfriend for four years. He?s been with Paulina Slagter since 2012, maybe earlier. I do know that Paulina was 20 years old and an undergraduate in college when she started up with Ryan, and now she?s 24 years old, while he is 41 years old. A 17 year age difference? sigh. Anyway, Paulina and Ryan are now engaged. He proposed sometime over the holidays and she?s already showing off her ring, apparently.
Ryan Phillippe and his longtime girlfriend Paulina Slagter are engaged, PEOPLE can confirm. The couple were spotted arriving in Miami on Sunday for lunch at Seaspice where they ate riverside and Slagter was seen showing off her engagement ring, an on-looker tells PEOPLE. His proposal to his 24-year-old law student girlfriend is said to have happened over the Christmas period, and the pair will be ringing in the New Year together in Miami.
Phillippe, 41, has two children Ava, 16, and Deacon, 12, with his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon and another child, Kai, four, from a previous relationship with ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp.
In April, Phillippe told Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show that he was “not opposed” to getting married again and gushed about his girlfriend, saying: “She’s awesome. When people see her they have these judgments because she could be a model but she’s about to graduate Stanford Law.”
Adding: “Also what’s great about it ? as you get older certain issues become more important to you. I’m very involved in civil rights issues, and so to be with a woman who could actually make an impact in the legal realm ? that’s a beautiful thing.”
The pair have been dating for four years and will be ringing in 2016 at the Five Star New Year?s Eve event on Watson Island headlined by deejay Robin Shulz.

If they?ve been happening for four years with little drama, I don?t have much of a problem with this. The age difference makes me roll my eyes, for sure, but after four years, you know your partner?s nature and there probably aren?t that many surprises. Speaking of, I?m surprised that he hasn?t gotten Paulina pregnant. I?m sure that will be happening soon enough though. And then it will probably be a different story.

Ryan Phillippe is promoting his directorial debut, Catch Hell. Ryan co-wrote the script with a friend (Joe Gossett) and stars in the main role. Ryan says he “kind of plays himself,” which is to say he plays an actor whose career has hit a lull. Not-Ryan is a character who gets chased by the paparazzi but can’t land a movie. I don’t know how close this is to the truth. Ryan hardly ever gets papped these days. He may simply be good at evading the cameras.
Ryan certainly feels like his acting career isn’t the greatest. He spoke with the LA Times about how he dislikes all of his films — except for five of them, which he does not name. Mystery! Cruel Intentions has to be one of the good ones. The movie was pure cheese but a guilty pleasure for many. People have fond memories of that film. I hope Ryan’s not dissing that movie, especially since he met the mother of his children during filming. I bet Ryan considers Flags of Our Fathers to be one of his good movies since Clint Eastwood directed it. He probably also liked Gosford Park; Crash was emotionally manipulative, but it won Best Picture, right? So he’s gonna be proud of that one. Maybe Lincoln Lawyer?
The turning point in Ryan’s career — 2011: “I did this terrible movie with 50 cent [the heist flick, Setup]. It was just a situation I didn?t want to be in. I was sold a bill of goods and it turned out to be something different, which is often the case in this business.”
Where he is now: “It?s certainly not a lament of mine that I?ve fallen out of favor in Hollywood. I?ve made 30-plus films over 20 years. And in my opinion, five of them are good. So you slave away and you work hard and you want to make something great, and a lot of times you end up disappointed. There are a lot of elements that are beyond your control when you’re an actor for hire. So this is kind of the beginning of my wanting to take a little more control and be a little more involved.”
He’s tiring of acting: “Acting alone doesn?t sustain me the same way it used to. Which I think is completely OK if you?ve done something for 20 years. Trying something else becomes really appealing.”

Hopping around town for a few errands, Ryan Phillippe stopped by a convenience store in Los Angeles, CA earlier this week.
While in the mart, the ?Cruel Intentions? hunk picked up a pack of Emergen-C and finished the items on his to-do list.
Meanwhile, Phillippe is getting ready for his directorial debut with ?Catch Hell.? According to Deadline, Entertainment One Films announced that it acquired the US and Canadian distribution rights to the thriller and is aiming for a fall release.
Phillippe also wrote the screenplay with Joe Gossett and produced the film with Robert Ogden Barnum and Holly Wiersma. He also stars in the flick.

Both clad in athletic tops and shorts, 37-year-old papa could be seen showing his 8-year-old sports star a few sure-fire movies for the next play.
In career news, Ryan and his "Revenge for Jolly" co-stars will take their latest offering to the Tribeca Film Festival later this week.
Centered on a "man who recruits his cousin to find out who is behind his dog's suspicious death," the dramedy also stars Oscar Isaac, Elijah Wood, Kristen Wiig and Adam Brody.

Here are some photos of Ryan Phillippe and his new ?girlfriend? heading out one morning last week for brunch. Go ahead and try to tell me these aren?t walk of shame photos. To me, it looks like she spent the night at his house and he?s struggling to remember her name so he?s just calling her ?Baby? the whole time. Anyway, I guess this means that Ryan and Amanda Seyfried are totally over. Thank God. I don?t have a very high opinion of Amanda or Ryan, but I thought Amanda could do so much better, if only she would stop being so attracted to douches.
This girl looks a lot like Amanda, though. Like a touch of Miley Cyrus mixed with a skinnier, younger Amanda, which is maybe the worst thing you could say to Amanda. But seriously, this girl looks YOUNG. Ryan keeps getting older (he?s 37 years old) but his girlfriends stay the same age. Ryan?s had such a busy year too – there was Amanda of course, rumors of Rihanna and some undercover hookups, plus a lot of gossip about Demi Lovato and Ryan too. What do all of those girls have in common? None of them was older than 25 when Ryan dated them. Demi was the youngest, at 19. And beyond all of those hookups this year, Ryan was haunted with a hookup from last year, in the form of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Alexis Knapp. Alexis is all of 22 years old, and she gave birth to Ryan?s (alleged) son in July.
The lesson here? If you are under 25 years old and you?re in LA, chances are that Ryan Phillippe has tried to bone with you. Chances are he doesn?t remember your name, either. He?s like the budget version of Leo DiCaprio.

Branching out from her human/fairy role on ?True Blood,? Anna Paquin is set to star in an upcoming film called ?Straight A?s.?
The Sookie Stackhouse actress, along with ?MacGruber? actor Ryan Phillippe, have signed on for the Nu Image/Millenium movie.
Directed by James Cox and written by Dave Cole, production for the comedy begins today (August 17) in Shreveport, Louisiana.
According to the script, "Phillippe portrays a man who's been in and out of rehab for 10 years and is haunted by the ghost of his dead mother pressing him to return home to the family he turned his back on years ago. Outfitted with nothing more than a bag of pills and a sack of weed, he trots back to Shreveport, only to be faced with his brother's wife, who's still pining for him, her first love."

In Touch [via Daily Mail] is reporting that Ryan Phillipe’s ex girlfriend, actress Alexis Knapp, had what is presumed to be his daughter on July 1st at Cedars Sinai in L.A. Alexis had a little 8 lb girl and she’s named Kai. I really like that name. Ryan was said to have with Alex at the hospital when she gave birth.

Aspiring actress Alexis Knapp, 26, welcomed a 8lb baby named Kai on July 1, America’s In Touch magazine reports.
The Cruel Intentions star, 36, is said to have been by her side in the delivery room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, despite questions surrounding the paternity of the child.
‘It was a smooth delivery,’ an insider tells the publication.
The actor, who has two children Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7, with his ex wife Reese Witherspoon, has been involved in the pregnancy.
‘Ryan took Alexis to her last doctor’s appointments and was there in the hospital when she gave birth,’ the source added.
‘He’s waiting for the DNA test to see of he’s the father, but he’s acting like he is.’
Knapp dated Phillippe last summer, before splitting in October.

That’s kind of sweet and makes me have a soft spot for Ryan. He could have shown up after the birth but he made an effort to be there. I also like that someone just told In Touch and didn’t make a big announcement to People or US Weekly. Alexis seems to have a relationship with the tabloid, as they also ran a brief story about how he gave her $5,000 worth of baby gifts ahead of the birth. I forsee some staged baby pictures with Alexis and Kai soon. She seems to have called the paps at least once when Ryan took her to the doctor.
I like the name Kai and am trying to remember (search on) which other celebrities have children named Kai, which is kind of a gender-neutral name. Jennifer Connolly has a 13 year-old son named Kai, from a relationship before she married Paul Bettany. Google reveals that Colleen and Wayne Rooney (British football player) had a son they named Kai in 2009. And Kaiser reminded me that Parminder Nagra also has a son named Kai and that Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber named their son Samuel Kai. So it sounds like it is mostly used for boys, but I do like it for a little girl too. I wonder if Ryan helped Alexis pick out the name. Congratulations to them!

Ryan Phillippe became a dad for the third time last Friday when his ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp gave birth to a baby girl. Sources say Ryan plans to take a paternity test to see if the kid is really his.
Explains the source of Phillippe’s presence during the birth: “He is a good father, and whether this is his baby or not, he wants to do the right thing and be supportive.”
As for So Undercover actress Knapp, “she has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it,” her rep told Us
Oh, whatever. She’s expecting help. Most likely $5,000 a month worth of it.
