When Brendan Fraser won Best Actor for The Whale, he grabbed the people behind him so quickly and tightly, I thought the mane of red hair belonged to his on-screen daughter Sadie Sink. I learned minutes later it was his son Leland, who attended the ceremony with his brother Holden to see their dad?s win. Brendan also thanked his oldest son Griffin, who was not at the ceremony. Side-note, I also just learned that Griffin is a redhead as well. Rise up, Ginger Nation! (Said as mother to a ginger son.)
Prior to the ceremony, the boys walked the carpet with Brendan and his girlfriend Jeanne Moore. Kevin Fraiser and Nischelle Turner asked them what it was like having The Mummy as a daddy. Holden and Leland said Brendan?s jokes were as bad as mine. Gen X rents, amirite?
The 95th Academy Awards is a family affair for Best Actor nominee Brendan Fraser, who is celebrating Hollywoods biggest night with his girlfriend, Jeanne Moore, and two children, Holden and Leland Fraser. All four caught up with ETs Kevin Fraiser and Nischelle Turner on the champagne-colored carpet, where Frasers kids shared their fathers best err, worst dad jokes.
At the end of a conversation, well say, Oh yeah, right. And hell say, Left,' Holden offered, while Leland said, I think my personal favorite has always been when were kids and Id say, I dont like broccoli, and hed say, Broccoli loves you.'
While Holden quipped that his dad jokes still dont hit, he admitted that his fathers pretty cool; Ill give him that hes pretty cool.
I mean, hes our old man and hes always been cool. But were always gonna rag on him at least a little, Leland added.
[From ET]
?When were kids and Id say, I dont like broccoli, and hed say, Broccoli loves you.' Hand to Whoever, when I was a kid, I would say ?I don?t like so-and-so,? my dad would reply with, ?So-and-so speaks quite highly of you.? And my father is 32 years older than Brendan. Seriously, do dads receive some kind of handbook in the delivery room we don?t know about? The thing is, I totally buy Brendan Fraser, Dad Joke Guy. He looks the part. And those are crap jokes, Leland and Holden are right to hold his feet to the fire about them.
But what I?m hearing and what we saw on Sunday was a lot of joy from Brendan and his family. And that?s a beautiful thing, given the road he was forced to till to get there. As I have said before, I wish it had been another film that put Brendan?s career back in the spotlight, but at least he is back. And now he?s Academy Award winner Brendan Fraser and will hopefully get the work he deserves.
Can we love Ke Huy Quan any more?

| Brendan Fraser won't attend Golden Globes: I have history with the HFPA | Added 761 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When Oscar buzz started about Brendan Fraser, I said I preferred to see him win a Golden Globe. In 2003, a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk, sexually assault Brendan. Not only did he not take full responsibility, there?s plenty of reason to suspect that the HFPA, who hold the Golden Globes, might have had a hand in damaging Brendan?s career. So I wanted to see those same people hand Brendan his flowers upon his triumphant comeback.
I still want to see Brendan win a Globe. But I won?t get to see him accept it. The reason is because Brendan is ?no hypocrite.? When asked recently about his award chances, he said if he is nominated, he will not attend the Golden Globes ceremony due to his history with the HFPA.
Were still weeks away from learning the 2023 Golden Globes nominees, but one of the Best Actor frontrunners is already signaling his intention to boycott the ceremony.
Brendan Fraser, whos receiving career-best reviews for his dramatic turn in Darren Aronofskys The Whale (in theaters Dec. 9), told GQ for its cover story on Wednesday that he will not attend the Golden Globes ceremony in January if he is nominated, as he is widely expected to be.
I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I have respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, he said bluntly. No, I will not participate.
His reasoning, for those who have followed the former heartthrobs rollercoaster career, is obvious: Its because of the history that I have with them, he explained. And my mother didnt raise a hypocrite. You can call me a lot of things, but not that.
[From Yahoo]
Brendan?s right, of course. Even in the last few years he?s had trouble discussing the incident or its aftermath. He famously recalled watching the Globes the year of the #MeToo movement was at the forefront and seeing Berk sitting in the room with all the women dressed in black and the men wearing Times Up pins in solidarity. Brendan knew how shallow the support of the HFPA was. It would be kind of cool to see Brendan take his award and go scorched earth in his acceptance speech, but he wouldn?t. So abstaining is the proper move, not that the HFPA showed him any consideration. I will be furious if those withered old twigs intentionally leave Brendan out of the nominations because they?re still denying culpability. Don?t think this is too far-fetched. Berk was still a voting member for the HFPA up until 2021. What finally got him booted from the board? At 88 years old, the South African born Berk sent an email to the whole association calling BLM a ?racist hate movement? and complaining about BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors buying a home in upscale Topanga Canyon. And the HFPA only acted then because the LA Times got a hold of the email. Yeah, stay home Brendan. They don?t deserve you anyway.

Remember Brendan Fraser? He was a regular fixture on my ?freebie? list for over a decade. If you need to know why, just Google ?Brendan Fraser Premiere Magazine.? You?re welcome in advance. The 48-year-old actor is experiencing a career revival thanks to his role as the villainous prison guard John Gunther on the Showtime series The Affair. In advance of the show?s third season finale, which airs on Sunday, Brendan sat down with Access Hollywood to talk about his work on the show, which is the first time he?s played the baddie. More on that in a bit.
Prior to The Affair, Brendan was kind of laying low, making a handful of film and TV appearances after 2008, when he last reprised his role as intrepid action hero Rick O?Connell in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Of course, the franchise is getting the reboot treatment (with the best unintentionally funny trailer EVER) and Brendan has been replaced by Tom Cruise.
Brendan?s fans have been vocal in their opposition about him not appearing in the new movie – and have spread the word on social media with the #SaveBrendanFraser tag as well as a Change.org petition asking networks to ?consider Brendan for any upcoming shows/movies that are planned.? Even with the outpouring of fan support, Brendan seems to be okay about the casting. Access Hollywood made sure to ask what he thought about the new film, and what his sons, Griffin, now 14, Holden, 12 and Leland, 10, thought about their Dad?s most famous role.
On if his kids have seen his movies: They’re really interested in other films… Actually when they were really small one of the Mummy movies came on in regular broadcast. They started watch it and went ‘you’re here but you’re there… this is too scary. I can’t watch this.’
On people wanting him in the new Mummy movie: I understand that Tom [Cruise] is very popular in the world of getting films done. I know very little about the actual project but I know it’s going to be great for an audience because they were always there for that thrilling popcorn movie feeling and adventure. I’m grateful for all of the support over the years. Thank you.
[From Access Hollywood]
As for his work on The Affair, playing his first bad guy, Brendan told Access Hollywood, ?It?s good to make new choices.? He tried to give as much spoiler-free information about his character as he could, so as not to spoil the finale for fans. The big question, will Brendan be back for season 4? Brendan responded to that query with, ?I think you?re going to have to watch the show and find out.? He added ?It was flattering to me to be invited to work with such a winning cast.? He did kind of imply that his character may make an appearance on the show again.
I, for one, am happy to see Brendan Fraser back in the limelight, and not just as a momentarily popular meme. If you have a few additional minutes to spare, checkout Brendan?s interview with SiriusXM?s Sway in the Morning – especially if you want to hear him break out his best Link from Encino Man impersonation. I always liked Brendan. He?s been through some tough times, but seems to have risen above it. Could The Affair do to his career what Pulp Fiction did for John Travolta? With the critical raves he?s been receiving, it appears so – just please, for God’s sake, keep him away from any discussion at all about a Monkeybone sequel.

A couple of weeks ago we covered the story that former 90s heartthrob, Brendan Fraser, was trying to have the $900,000 a year he pays his ex wife in alimony and child support reduced, claiming he can no longer afford it. Fraser divorced his wife in 2009. They have three sons together aged 6, 8, and 10.
Many of us had no problem believing that Fraser can’t afford nearly a million a year in support to his ex, considering how his career has been going lately. He does have a lot of movies lined up for the next couple of years, but he hasn’t done much lately and he’s no longer a leading man.
Well TMZ has the details of the financials from Fraser’s court filing and it’s bad. He makes a whopping $251,504 a month, or nearly $2.8 million a year, but almost half of that goes toward “professional fees,” which TMZ interprets as agent fees, among other things. (He’s represented by Creative Artists Agency.) Then he has a mortgage, taxes, insurance, gardening fees, etc. that add up to about $87,000 more a month than he’s making. Here’s their breakdown:
Fraser filed docs in Connecticut recently as part of an ongoing battle with his ex-wife to lower his alimony payments, which currently sit at $50,000/month. To prove his financial situation ain’t what it used to be, Fraser listed his monthly income and expenses …. and it’s not pretty.
According to Fraser, he makes about $205,704.04/month, but $112,803.25 goes to professional expenses — DAMN YOU, AGENTS!!! — leaving him with $92,900.79.
Fraser says he makes another $25,800.28 from interest and other financial things rich people get … and then the expenses kick in, including …
Alimony — $50,000
Mortgages — $5,000+
Property tax — $6,000+
Income tax — $34,132.52
Child support — $25,000
Gardening — $5,200
Various insurances — $5,000+
Family support and gifts — $5,000+
Staffing — $3,000
Pet care — $7.77 (Does he have a goldfish?)
And it goes on and on …
All told, Fraser’s expenses have him losing $87,320.01/month. But Fraser’s assets reportedly total just a shade under $25 million … so we think he’ll be fine.
[From TMZ]
So maybe Fraser is overstating how broke he is in order to get his alimony and child support reduced. That’s his goal here so he’s not going to make it look like he’s in the black. Still this surprises me. I’m always kind of shocked when millionaires go broke, but I guess it’s easy to just spend wildly when the money is flowing and then have trouble cutting back when it slows to a trickle. Dude needs to move to somewhere with a cheaper mortgage and where he can tend his own garden. He pays $62g a year just for landscaping! He needs to talk to Suze Orman too. She’d be all “denied!”

Remember when Brendan Fraser was hot stuff? I think that was the mid to late 90s, around the time he looked super sexy in ’92?s Encino Man (I loved that movie) and kind of peaked in 99?s The Mummy. Fraser, 44, hasn’t been working steadily, he’s no longer a box office draw and he’s done some terrible films lately to make ends meet.
In 2009 he divorced his wife, the mother of his three sons, after over 10 years of marriage. Fraser been paying a whopping $900,000 a year in child support and alimony since their split, and he recently filed to have the amount reduced. Fraser claims that his earning power has dimmed considerably and that he can no longer keep up the payments for his kids. After sitting through Furry Vengeance, I believe it. Here’s more, thanks to the NY Post:
The ?Mummy?? movies made him one of the world?s highest-paid actors, but Brendan Fraser suggests that he couldn?t land a job afterward.
His ex-wife isn?t buying it.
In Connecticut court last week, Fraser?s ex, Afton Smith, 45, accused the 44-year-old star of ?fraud? for making the claim while allegedly hiding $9 million in new film contracts when they settled their divorce in February 2009.
The allegation came after Fraser went to court to try to reduce the $900,000 in alimony and child support he annually pays his 45-year-old ex-wife, insisting he no longer earns enough to justify that amount.
Court records and testimony reveal that, at the time of his split from the lesser-known actress, Fraser bizarrely claimed that he expected to make $0 ? that?s zero dollars ? from acting work in the future, despite an impressive rsum of high-grossing films including the three ?Mummy? flicks, ?Journey to the Center of the Earth? and ?George of the Jungle.?
He later claimed he said that because he wasn?t aware of any definite future deals at the time.
Fraser acknowledged he since has acted in several movies ? some of which are awaiting release.
But he cited a litany of medical issues that he says have put a ?considerable? crimp on his ability to earn future big bucks.
Afton?s lawyer noted that, as of December, the actor had $24.7 million in assets.
Hearings in the legal sequel to Fraser?s nine-year marriage to Afton ? with whom he has three young sons ? are set to resume in Stamford Superior Court next week, with Fraser still on the witness stand.
[From The NY Post]
Checking his IMDB, Fraser had only two films in 2010, one film in 2011, and nothing last year. This year he’s really working hard and has about eight movies coming up, according to IMDB. He may have just taken lousy roles out of desperation, it’s hard to tell.
I want to know what kind of medical problems he was suffering. I’m really curious to hear about that. Did he hurt his back or something? I think I found it… In 2001, while filming The Mummy Returns, Director Stephen Somers said that Fraser was injured on set. “I blew up Brendan’s knee, broke one of his ribs, and tore a disc in his back. Every once in a while, when you see a pained look on Brendan’s face, he ain’t faking it.” That might explain his weight gain. I’m just saying. I would still hit it.
As for 900k a year in child support and alimony, that sounds insane to me and like you won the Powerball. If he’s not making that kind of money anymore his ex wife should scale down a little. This isn’t a case where the kids are going to have to suffer. It’s possible he’s hiding assets though as she claims.

| Brendan Fraser Sued for Assault | Added 12 years ago | Source: Yeeeah |

One of the producers of Brendan Fraser’s new movie “The Legend of William Tell” has filed a lawsuit against him, claiming that the actor assaulted him on two separate occasions (legally, watching “Encino Man” does not count as assault, or I’d be suing him, too). TMZ says:
In his suit, [producer Todd] Moyer claims he was hanging out at the Hilton Hotel in Indianapolis on July 27, 2011 when an “intoxicated” Brendan Fraser began to “physically push, verbally threaten and poke [Moyer] in the chest repeatedly.
Six months later, on January 31, 2012, Moyer says Fraser struck again during a meeting about the movie at the offices of Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Fraser allegedly went nuts — screaming threats and striking Moyer in the chest at least 20 times.
Moyer said he suffered extreme mental anguish and physical pain — and wants at least $25k in damages.
For what it’s worth, Fraser was already embroiled in an ongoing lawsuit with Moyer, but in this case, he was the one doing the suing. TMZ says:
Fraser sued Moyer back in May claiming Moyer has bungled the film, causing delays that forced Fraser to pass up other work. Fraser is demanding more than $3 million in damages.
What other work is Brendan Fraser passing up, exactly? Was there a sequel to “Furry Vengeance” in the works that I didn’t know about? If that’s the case, then tens of people are really gonna be disappointed. And it’s not like the $5 movie bin at Wal-Mart fills itself, you know!

Although I can’t name anything Brendan Fraser’s starred in the last decade, I still have love for him from Encino Man. I probably saw that movie a dozen times.
I thought I heard his marriage was in trouble. Apparently he split with his wife years ago after an alleged fling with Maria Bello and is now dating a “civilian.”
Although they are rarely in the public eye together, Brendan and Natalia Bruschi, a hairdresser at L.A.’s Fred Segal, are going strong.
“Brendan is very private about Natalia, but that doesn’t mean he’s not into her,” a pal tells Star. “He says she’s the love of his life.”
They toasted their second anniversary with romantic candlelit dinners in Manhattan — where Brendan, 42, was starring in the Broadway play Elling — during the first weekend of December.
But a trip down the aisle isn’t likely just yet. After splitting from wife of 12 years Afton Smith in 2007, the dad of three “isn’t ready to remarry, because the split was so painful,” says the source. “But Natalia knows he’s in it for the long haul with her.”
[Star, print edition, December 27, 2010]
Is it too easy to go for the balding-actor-dating-a-hairdresser joke? Thought so.
According to IMDB, Brendan’s been working steadily, including several sequels to The Mummy, and a turn on Broadway.
He seems like a genuinely nice guy who isn’t into the Hollywood scene, so it’s a shame if an on-set fling broke up his marriage, but good for him for finding a stable relationship again.
Brendan Fraser is shown at the premiere of Elling on 11/21/10. He’s shown with costars Jennifer Coolidge, Denis O’Hare, and Jeremy Shamos. Credit: WENN.com
Note: this is Fraser’s Broadway co-star Jennifer Coolidge, not his new girlfriend.
And he looks like hell here because he’s in character:

Actually it isn''t only his hair that scares me, it is the whole package. I once got my friend George of the Jungle as a kind of p0rn video because she liked the way he looked in it, I hope she doesn't read my blog today because she might never be able to watch the movie in the same way again.
