Keeping up on her latest fitness routine, Nicole Richie was spotted heading to the gym in Studio City, CA on Thursday (December 2).
The former ?Simple Life? beauty looked cute in her workout wear as she made her way inside the facility, paying little attention to the on-hand photogs.
The sighting comes just as it has been reported that Ms Richie can finally catch a sigh of relief, as the paparazzo accused of stalking her (and showing up to daughter Harlow?s school on more than one occasion) has agreed to stay away from the family for five years.
As long as the photog does that, Nicole will not seek a permanent restraining order on him, but if he breaks the agreement, ?there are stiff financial penalties.?

She?s openly admitted that she and husband Spencer Pratt are broke, and now Heidi Montag is learning martial arts because she can no longer pay for personal security.
The former ?Hills? star told Radar Online, "I can't afford security, so I practice self-defense and chain punching."
Adding, Heidi dished, "I have had to change my life. I can't afford to go out to the clubs anymore because the sort of protection I need can cost anywhere from 5 to 10 thousand dollars a night...That is actually where all my money went because safety is number one."
On a positive note, the insecure star may be benefiting from the martial arts classes as well. She said, "It gives me confidence I didn't have before. I am doing this self-defense because it gives me inner strength, and I feel safe in my home."

Sarah Jessica Parker is the January cover girl for Elle Magazine. From what I can see, she?s not promoting any movie or anything, and from the questions in her interview, I think she?s only promoting her work as Chief Creative Officer of Halston. She?s been wearing lots of Halston lately, too. It?s strange - I really love vintage Halston, and the label has been doing some really interesting stuff the past few years, but SJP has only been choosing Halston pieces that look very similar to each other - all of them light metallics that aren?t incredibly flattering. Anyway, Elle sent us some interview excerpts, and SJP doesn?t come across quite as badly as she did (in my opinion) in her Vogue cover interview earlier this year. In fact, I like this version of SJP:
On aging naturally: ?I don?t know what I can do about the aging. Yes, I am aging. Oh my God, I?m aging all the time. It?s like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films. But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic??
On meeting the twins after their birth: ?[Meeting them] is hard to describe. Everything is suspended. I can?t even tell you what other sounds were in the room. I loved them immediately, but everything?their size, the shape of their heads, the color of their hair, their noses, their eyes?was new to me. They looked surprisingly different from James Wilkie, which I wasn?t expecting.?
On her reaction to being offered the position of President and Chief Creative Officer at Halston and Halston Heritage: ?I kept saying, ?You understand, by offering this you are going to be criticized?? It took me a long time to say yes.?
On taking her role at Halston very seriously: ?I said, ?Please know this now: I will never do this for a title. I will never dip in and out of this. I?ll do it like everything else I?ve ever done. I?ll be involved down to the splitting of the atom.??
On her design skills: ?I might not have the language; I can?t always tell you the exact blend of a fabric, but I figure it out.?
On her daughter Tabitha?s style: ?She?s crazy for bows; she wants her head covered in them.?

I love the part about Tabitha loving bows, but otherwise SJP is always so freaking weird when she talks about her kids. Either she?s comparing dirty diapers to loaves of bread or she’s making the girls sound like fanciful little retro hipster fairies. And she was ?surprised? by the shapes of their heads? Is she talking about their facial structure, or was she like ?I thought their heads would come out octagonal??
By the way, have I talked about Sex and City 2 yet? I rented it a few weeks ago, and I have something awful to admit: it was immensely more watchable than the first one. It was less depressing and whiny too. Of course, it still offended me (the Muslim stuff was just stupid), but I actually laughed at a few parts. Mostly it?s one big eye roll though.

She?s certainly no stranger to raking in huge awards, and Taylor Swift has been named Entertainment Weekly?s Entertainer of the Year.
The magazine voted the ?You Belong With Me? singer thanks to her many accomplishments in 2010.
Not only did Swift produce multiple hit singles and win Grammy awards, but her album ?Speak Now? is in the #1 debut spot as it sold more than one million copies in its first week alone.
Of her oh-so-successful album, Taylor told press, "Sometimes I would laugh because I would see it in print and it would say, 'This song, which is written about her ex, so-and-so ...' And they would write about it as if it was fact," she says. "The fact is, I haven't ever confirmed that any song is about any particular person. There's something kind of freeing about that. As far as I'm concerned, it's all still up in the air."

Back during the Toronto Film Festival in the beginning of September, a new hot couple emerged? Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen. Sheen is probably best known for his multiple turns as Tony Blair on the stage and screen (like The Queen), although he?s been in a dozen other things that people probably remember him from too (like Eclipse, or 30 Rock, or those Underworld movies). He?s Welsh and he?s lovely and he?s quirky and I find him rather cute. Anyway, the rumors have been flying around that Rachel and Michael are pretty steady, and I guess they?ve been dating now for three months. So what do we get on their three month anniversary? Some hot airport kisses.
If this was another couple, I might call their body language a tad awkward. But since I?m feeling generous today, I?m just going to admit that these photos turned me on. Michael looks so scruffy, and Rachel looks so happy, I honestly think the only reason they got out of bed (after a week-long sexfest) was because Rachel had to catch a plane, and Michael is so in love he had to see her off. These are photos from the Green Hornet photo call in Spain today. This junk doesn?t come out until January, so I don?t know why they?re rushing the promotional blitz, especially when they?re going head-to-head with awards-contenders. Beyond that, it?s nice to see the principle actors show up for the photo call - Seth Rogen has the lead, as the Green Hornet, Christoph Waltz plays the villain, and Jay Chou is the sidekick. And then there?s Cameron Diaz, who plays Seth?s love interest. I think Camy is an interesting choice for the comic book hero?s love interest: is it a smart move for an actress nearly 40 years old to take on the kind of role that?s usually filled by ingnues? Camy is a decade older than Seth too - is that awkward? Eh.
Anyway, I was looking through the photos, thinking about how Camy looked pretty good - she?s just wearing jeans and a simple blouse, and I like the length of her hair right now, and her skin has cleared up. Then I saw this article at The Sun bashing Camy for her wrinkles - they say her ?face was strangely wrinkled.? Like, ?How dare Camy not be Botoxed to within an inch of life? HOW RUDE.?
Maybe I?m just a late defender of Camy, though. She?s been growing on me so much the past few years. I like her attitude, and I like her commitment to aging naturally. Should she take better care of her skin? Sure. But she?s still a beautiful woman - and I tend to think she?s more interesting-looking now then she was when she was ?strangely unwrinkled.?
But if you want to hate on Camy, read this piece at LaineyGossip. You won?t like that version of Camy. That Camy seems desperate and sad.

Another audio tape of Britney Spears telling her ex-husband Jason Alexander that her new boyfriend Jason Trawick beats her was released today (listen to it here). Radar Online says:
?Why isn?t he in jail baby?? Spears? ex-husband Jason Alexander is heard asking the 28-year-old on the tape.
Spears responded: ?Because I didn?t want the public knowing about it and I didn?t want to file anything, so everyone could find out. So I?ve just left him and changed my number.”
But Britney’s manager Larry Rudolph, who is threatening to sue both Star Magazine (who first broke the story) and Radar (who posted the tapes), went on Access Hollywood last night and stated unequivocally that the tape is a fake. According to TMZ:
The Chairman of the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee of Forensic Audio [says] the tape was “doctored” to such a severe extent [that] there’s no way to conduct a meaningful voice-recognition test.
The tape has been “stepped on at least 3 times.” With noise reduction, equalization and removal of voice qualities such as natural timbre, sibilance and tonal qualities, it’s impossible to determine whether Britney’s voice is on the tape.
Which sounds pretty convincing… except for this little glitch:
But Alexander, who was married to Spears for 55-hours in 2004, passed a polygraph test.
Seeing as how he passed the lie-detector test, I’d say it’s definitely Britney on the tape… which means there’s definitely some hitting involved. But I have a feeling it’s not your traditional wife-beating kind of hitting. More like a few “get a hold of yourself, woman!” kinda slaps when she starts muttering in a British accent and rummaging around for the #2 guard and the clippers. And maybe a couple of hand smacks when she’s about to touch a hot stove.

Anxiously awaiting official word, David Beckham was on hand for the FIFA World Cup 2018 & 2022 Host Announcement in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday (December 2).
Joined by Lord Coe and Andy Anson, the trio of Englishmen grabbed up seats as FIFA President Joseph "Sepp" Blatter took the stage to reveal the voting members' decisions.
During the announcement, Becks and co ended up walking out in disappointment - as England wasn't selected for either the 2018 or 2022 tournament.
Instead, the 2018 games will be played in Russia while soccer stars and fans will converge on Qatar for the 2022 installment of the sporting extravaganza, with Blatter saying, "We go to new lands."

Winona Ryder has a supporting part in Black Swan, and she?s given a surprisingly good interview to USA Today in support of the film. Winona is 39 years old now?she turns 40 in less than a year. Sigh? we?re all getting so OLD. Anyway, Winona sounds really good in this interview. There?s still a hint of the super-cool chick from the early 1990s that could do no wrong, but mostly she?s just kind of humble and reticent and interesting.
In person, she’s all jagged locks and wide brown eyes, her voice soft and dreamy. But on-screen, as a former “little princess” of a prima ballerina put out to pasture in Black Swan, Winona Ryder is all thunderous, seething fury.
The two-time Oscar nominee, who has been mostly under the radar for the last decade, makes the most of her time on-screen as Beth Macintyre, the former wunderkind of a Manhattan ballet company now relegated to toasting her replacement (Natalie Portman).
The similarities to her own career trajectory aren’t lost on Ryder. The actress broke out as a wispy, idiosyncratic child actress who starred in Beetlejuice, followed by Heathers, The Age of Innocence,Reality Bites, Little Women and Girl, Interrupted before hitting a prolonged professional dry spell.
“I had this great run when I was a teen and in my 20s, and then things got harder. That’s why I kind of love the parallel in Black Swan. It’s absurd that these girls have to retire so young. I just turned 39 the other day. And it’s like, ‘Wow, in a year I’ll be 40,’ ” Ryder says with a sigh and a smile.
Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky can’t quite grasp that the perennially young Ryder is hitting middle age.
“She’s so youthful-looking,” he says. “I liked the idea of finding someone iconic, and Winona was the first idea to pop into our heads. Here’s an actress with huge chapters ahead of her, but people remember her when she used to be very much like Natalie Portman. I liked the meta-casting idea.”
He says Ryder brought professionalism and years of ingrained knowledge of moviemaking to the low-budget, no-frills shoot.
“She befriended everyone. She seemed very down to earth and aware of where her life and career was. She’s easy to talk to. She has a childlike innocence and purity,” says Aronofsky.
And her career appears to be on the upswing after a series of flops coupled with attention for the wrong reasons. A decade ago, Ryder was arrested on shoplifting charges; she was sentenced to probation and community service after a media circus trial.
It’s not a topic she wants to rehash, preferring to focus on her renewed passion for her day job. In addition to Black Swan, Ryder co-stars in the romantic comedy The Dilemma, out in January and directed by Ron Howard.
“After these movies, which were a real gift to me, work breeds work. There were a few years where the only thing I was getting offered was (slasher movies). I wasn’t offered Saw, but those kinds (of movies), or really stupid comedies,” she says. “Right now, I’m trying to be kind of choosy. There’s a few things on the horizon.”
Ryder is firmly old-school, still reading actual books by Philip Roth.
“I still love something tactile and tangible, turning pages. I got this iPad for my birthday. I can’t imagine reading a book on it. I just can’t imagine looking at a screen and not turning pages. Books are so beautiful to me,” she says.
Indeed, Ryder seems entrenched in the ’90s, back before she could Google herself ? not that she does.
“I don’t have a computer. I don’t go on the Internet. I keep hearing that you can find out anything, which is kind of too bad. Now everyone knows the salaries and the budgets and the troubles. It does take the mystery out,” says Ryder.
She’s content to spend her non-working time in her part-time home base of San Francisco, where she hangs out with artists and musicians.
“There’s a lot of cute writers up there. I gotta bag me a husband!” quips Ryder.

She sounds pretty good, doesn?t she? Is Winona still crazy? Is still a klepto? Does she ever sit around wondering if she should have stuck it out with Johnny Depp or Matt Damon? So many questions.
In another interview, Winona talked again about working with Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted. Previously, she?s talked about not being jealous of Angelina, and of how Angelina ?conquered? her beauty. Now Winona says that she was disappointed when Angelina ?kept her distance? while filming: ?I remember thinking, ‘Oh we’re going to turn out to be great friends’. But I think she needed to be able to look at me just as the character Susanna, not as Winona, so in a very respectful way she just kind of kept her distance. I saw her at one of the awards shows but I haven’t really seen her since. I remember in the press junket for Girl, Interrupted she would just be so open about her problems and then I would come in, and everyone would think I was so boring.? Ah, back when Angelina was crazy. Good times.

Jessica Simpson put pregnancy rumors to bed once and for all by downing margaritas and tequila shots with new fianc Eric Johnson at Stanton Social after performing at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting on Tuesday. The singer took a table of 20 which included father Joe Simpson, her assistant and security guards.
A spy told us, “They were very well-mannered and drank basil lime gimlets, pineapple 75’s, Maker’s on the rocks, margaritas and wine. They ordered a lot of food. Maybe this is why Ryan Gosling didn?t show up for the All Good Things premiere? Eh. Gosling took part in a round-table discussion of potential Oscar nominees, sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Tonight. ET excerpted the part of the discussion where Gosling talked in great detail about his firing/withdrawal from The Lovely Bones, an incident which happened a few years ago. Gosling was one of the first ones cast for the project - he was supposed to play the father of the murdered girl, in the film adaptation directed by Peter Jackson. Gosling describes how he was just flat out wrong about the character, thinking that the father should be much, much heavier:
Ryan Gosling said he was “fat and unemployed” after showing up on set of ‘The Lovely Bones’ 60 pounds bigger.
During a round table conversation put on by The Hollywood Reporter that included a number of other Oscar Award hopefuls, Ryan said he and ‘The Lovely Bones’ director Peter Jackson had “wildly different” ideas as to what the character of Jack Salmon (that was eventually played by Mark Wahlberg) was to look and act like. “I was 150 pounds when he hired me, and I showed up on set 210 pounds,” he disclosed.
“I really believed [the character] should be 210 pounds. I was melting Haagen Dazs and drinking it when I was thirsty,” he admitted. “I really believed in it. I was excited about it.”
Ryan said when he got on set, he was asked to hit the treadmill. “I just showed up on set and I’d gotten it wrong. … It didn’t ever become about the weight because the weight was just indicative of a deeper misunderstanding about the character.”
The actor seems to have bounced back from the “misunderstanding” as his role in ‘Blue Valentine’ is getting a bit of Oscar buzz.

Much like the barrage of Angelina Jolie interviews, there are lots of new Johnny Depp interviews, all for The Tourist. Unfortunately, there aren?t really any new photos of him floating around, so we have to make due with some older pics, and some stills from The Tourist. Once again, Pop Sugar has some of the most extensive interview slices, and Johnny is cracking me up with some of his answers. He talks about how he can?t grow a full beard, so basically he had to wear a stunt beard glued to his face. But the funniest part is when he?s talking about the pajamas:
In terms of where you are at in your career as a global movie star, what makes you choose a project?
Johnny Depp: I never think of myself on those terms as a “huge global movie star,” so I can’t help but smile because it just doesn’t register as me. It still feels like I’m doing the same bits, just trying something different each time, exploring something new. It’s important to keep challenging myself and try to come up with some new face every now and again. Many years ago Marlon Brando asked me, “How many films do you do per year, kid?” I said, “I dunno, maybe three.” He said, “Too much. We only have so many faces in our pockets.” And I went, you know, that’s really true, but I feel like I still got a few faces left.
Many of your most famous characters have tons of elaborate costumes and makeup. What did you bring to your character Frank?
JD: The story, the script, and the character dictate where you’re going to go. I imagine someone I may have known in the past that reminds me of a character. [The Tourist's] Frank has this heavily groomed beard, which I by the way can’t grow so was all glued on. It’s a perfectly landscaped beard, which came from a guy I knew years ago and I was always fascinated with, because it looked like something in a jar. I couldn’t believe someone could actually treat [a beard] so pristinely.
In The Tourist there’s a scene where you’re in pajamas; how did that come to be?
JD: I wanted footie pajamas with little bunny ears, but [the director] wouldn’t go for it. Initially he was supposed to be either in a towel or his underpants, but there was something about a grown man in pajamas that you’d pull out of Leave It to Beaver’s dad’s drawer. The imagery, juxtaposed with the background of Venice, I just thought there was something really funny about it.
The canal scenes are intense. Did you go in the dirty water or was that left to the stunt men?
JD: All that stuff ? doing the stunts, being yanked down a Venice canal in a boat, being handcuffed to the railing ? was way secondary to the immense fear that I had of going into “the drink.” The stunt guys who did have to go into [the canal] were on serious antibiotics like weeks beforehand. I remember being cuffed to that railing and getting ready to take off and saying to myself, you’re going in . . . you’re going into this water. Luckily, I didn’t, but it was pretty close a couple of times.
Did you have any actual tourist experiences while shooting in Venice?
JD: My tourist times were between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. That was the only time that I could really wander and have a look around, because there’s virtually no one on the streets at that point. Everywhere you look is kind of a visual poem; I was amazed ? these wonderful facades, clotheslines with people’s laundry, and little signs on churches “bread for the poor.” It’s a beautiful, magical place. That’s the Venice I like to see as opposed to going into the gondola and putting a flower in my teeth. I like the nighttime Venice, the quiet Venice, when it feels like the ghosts are around.
What sort of artistic freedom do you look for in roles? Was it always that way?
JD: Is there something in there outside the author’s intent that I can add that is maybe a little bit different, that is coming from the outside and is not done to death. Is there something I can add to make it interesting? I’ve always had that, it’s probably a bad habit. I remember doing Platoon back in ‘86 with Oliver Stone. I was rewriting my dialogue, which is probably why he mostly cut me out of the film. I suppose Cry Baby was the first character I felt good about. With Edward Scissorhands, nobody really knew what I was going to do; even Tim [Burton], bless him, was a little nervous initially with my take on it, but it all worked out. I guess it probably comes from being locked into television for years and the parameters were so rigid there was no room for movement. There was no room to grow so I swore to myself after that I wouldn’t do that again. If I had to go back to construction, that’s OK, I was pretty good at that. Pumping gas, I can do that too.
Paris is home to you now. What makes you love the city so much?
JD: Everything. The literary history in Paris has been and always will be a fascination for me. The books that were written here, art history, paintings, painters who wandered these streets, great poets ? it’s just always been magical for me and I’ve always oddly felt more at home here than anywhere else in the world. I suppose just to be surrounded by all this art, and all this incredible work that people have done over the years. You can feel. It’s still there, you still feel all those real writers. It’s very inspiring.
Your character in this movie is not Johnny Depp cool; how did you figure out what you wanted to do with this character?
JD: The idea was to make him really the everyman of the movie, the math teacher who doesn’t have particular highs or particular lows in his life and has a slight amount of OCD in his weird routines. [I wanted to] take this normal guy and put him in these high-stakes situations that were less than normal. The electronic cigarette was the device that would ring the alarm that he’s in panic mode.
The director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck said you added the humor to the film; what is the story behind that?
JD: I thought, if you took this guy and put him in these situations, especially if he’s going to stick around, he has to recognize the level of absurdity in what he’s going through. Also, if I see a gag coming around the corner, I snatch it up. I can’t help myself. You spend 90 percent of the time when you’re working trying to make your costar laugh, and I guess some of it’s in the film.
What was it like meeting and working with Angelina?
She’s a real treat to get into the ring with. She’s a lot of fun and funny! She’s deeply committed to the work, has a great approach and is very smart. She also has a very very absurd and perverse sense of humor. We met, oddly, right before we did this, which was just weird because we have a lot of mutual friends, acquaintances, and people we’ve worked with. When we sat down together, it was kind of instant. We got each other. Within minutes we were yakking about our kids, the perils of parenthood and all that fun stuff.
Do you hope to have the chance to work with her again?
Boy, I certainly would like to think so. I hope so. If she’ll have me again, I’d be more than happy. She’s a good girl. I have a lot of respect for her. In the face of all that she, Brad, and the kids have to deal with, being globally under the microscope every second of the day, she’s grounded. She’s as cool, normal and low key [a woman] as you’d want to meet. She doesn’t take it all that seriously. She is a wonderful mommy, a great mommy, which you’ve gotta take your hat off to as well. And she’s out there trying to do things in the world, to help. She’s impressive. She’s a force.

Depp also talked more about Angelina when he was interviewed for Entertainment Tonight (the video is here). Depp describes Jolie as ?a very normal girl” and that ?Angelina’s life with Brad and the kids has been kind of overly shockingly documented and what I was pleasantly surprised by is she’s not really fazed by it. She’s a very normal girl and she’s very, very smart and very thoughtful, very kind. The two main things: This woman who has become this wonderful mother — she’s a fantastic mother — and very funny as well; good sense of humor.” He also talks a little about how he and Angelina brought their kids together, and how Jack Depp played videogames with Pax.

The ?Moulin Rouge? actress braved the chilly conditions while sporting a black cardigan, black dress, black stockings, and black heels en route to "Good Morning America".
In a recent interview, Nicole sang the praises of her costar Aaron Eckhart, and even tried to help him score a date.
Kidman stated, "He'll make someone a great husband. Which is actually what Aaron is: a really decent guy with an enormous amount of love to give. So for all those women out there, he's looking for a wife. He's a really good husband."

Okay, there are like a million new Angelina Jolie interviews today, probably because The Tourist?s junket officially kicked off yesterday. We saw Jolie heading into the junket yesterday, wearing her fabulous grey coat porn. Today, we have more ?Angelina walking into a Paris junket? photos, this time with brown/camel coat porn. CB and I prefer the grey, but the boots and the Gucci bag are amazing, right? Anyway, here are some bits and pieces from Pop Sugar?s interview with La Jolie? she talks about The Tourist, of course, and Johnny Depp, and she even gets into her inspiration for the character. Hint: it was one of her kids (NOT FAX!).
The wardrobe in this movie is beautiful; did you have input in the process?
Angelina Jolie: [Costume designer Colleen Atwood] was very specific about what she liked, but I did certainly chime in about things I thought were right for the character. We wanted to make sure that she had a kind of sexiness and elegance, but also that she was fun, playful, and sweet. Instead of a big high slit, [Colleen] put a bow in the bum. It was very different than anything I’ve ever worn. It took me a while to get used to the heels and the gloves and how to hold the handbag. I think everyone knows I’m not necessarily that female. So it was a bit of an exercise in having the fun of being a girl. Having come off literally being a guy in Salt, it was nice to rediscover female.
Your character sort of floats through this movie, away from the action; how was that for a change?
AJ: My note that I got probably every day was “slow down.” I think as very modern women we feel the need to attack things, we’re like New Yorkers. [The director] was trying to teach me a certain way of being bred, this elegance, like time moves around you, you don’t meet it. The hardest thing for me was to kind of take a deep breath and glide a little more.
Did you have any specific inspiration for your character?
AJ: A combination of what we all think in our minds of female, all the different references. My mother had a real softness to her and was very gracious. Vivienne, my youngest daughter, is extremely female and very naturally a real girl. I kind of played Vivienne in the film. [Laughs.] I tried not to pin it down to one person so much.
What were the good and bad aspects of filming in Venice?
AJ: Not a lot of bad. The good was just everything. The kids had a good time. As a parent you feel responsible to teach your kids about culture ? so you get this great feeling ? done! Live in Venice for two months, have an Italian teacher, so that was great.
With such a busy career and family, how do you find time for yourself?
AJ: You just give that up at a certain point. You even try to take a bath and everybody comes in, so you give up and that’s OK. As somebody who likes to be alone, I surprise myself that I’m very happy to be surrounded by everybody in my family. I feel that comfort.
How do you find yourself choosing projects at this point in your career?
AJ: It’s getting harder to make decisions to work for the sake of working. Like everybody, I’m trying to find things that are extremely challenging or mean something to me deeply. Sometimes something like The Tourist comes up and it’s just fun, but it’s not as easy to find projects that I have to do. I have to be home and I have to do other things, but I don’t have to work as much. That’s why I’m unemployed at the moment.
What was the best part of working with Johnny Depp?
He’s just such a nice guy. He’s so funny and so fun to hang out with. He’s just that friend you’re so happy to come to work and do scenes with. Plus, he’s such a brilliant actor. He’s often thought of so much for his deep character work, but it really comes from an artist who is willing to try things. He’s not just somebody who’s doing these fun [movies]; he’s a real experimental deeply feeling artist, who gives a lot and is very gracious on set to everybody and to his fellow actors. He’s just a pleasure.
The story is that you arrived early and got to look around Depp’s office while you waited for your first meeting with him. Was there something in particular there that made you think you’d get along well?
I was on time, for the record, I was not early. You walk into someone’s office and you see what’s important to them. He’s got lots of books and lots of pictures of his children. That’s immediately somebody you feel at ease with.
He’s very funny in this movie. Did he crack you up on set?
There’s some footage floating around, that I’m surprised hasn’t surfaced, of a good 15-20 minutes where we could not stop laughing. We wasted a lot of film. I got a lot of producers very frustrated because we just could not get through it.
Having just made your first movie as a director, what was that like and who did you draw inspiration from?
AJ: It’s a combination of quite a lot of directors. I learned a lot from Clint [Eastwood], who’s an extremely economic director. I learned a lot from Michael Winterbottom, who really gave a lot of trust in the actors and allowed them to live in the space instead of trying to manipulate and make it too set and too staged. Working with [Robert] De Niro taught me a lot of being an actors’ director and what that is. I’ve learned a lot from pretty much everybody. Hopefully I’ve picked up something from everybody I’ve worked with. I had such a wonderful experience being more with the crew. I think actors, because we’re in the world of the characters and the movie, are more isolated, and it was really fun to wake up and be a family with the entire crew. I was much more aware of the process and every different layer of it. I was really excited to watch other actresses work and do things that I maybe would have liked to try, but to see them be even better than I ever could have imagined. I wonder how it’s going to be when I go back to being an actor. It was really nice to be able to take the spotlight off myself and put it on some brilliant actors. I’m excited to show their work and their talent to the world because I’m very proud of what they gave and what they did. I felt lucky to be there for it.
King Fu Panda 2 is out next year; have you finished work on it?
AJ: I’ve done most of it, but I have a little bit more to do because it keeps changing. Jack Black goes in and improvises and I have to go back in and respond to it. I loved that first one and I think the themes are so beautiful. The next one gets into themes of adoption, which are obviously close to my heart, so I am very excited.

So she drew her ?girly? inspiration for the character from Vivienne? What about The Empress? She seems like a little lady too. Of course, in my mind, the Empress is also a hell raiser, so maybe not. I also like the director?s note of ?slow down.?
In another interview with Reuters, Jolie talked about the criticism she?s received from a Bosnian women?s group, allegedly advocating on behalf of Bosnian rape victims. I don?t feel like going into the whole history of it, so just go here and here and here for a recap. Jolie tells Reuters, “There’s one person who has a gripe? The absolute majority of the people, population, the cast, prime minister, president have been extremely supportive.” She also said that ?95 percent of the film’s cast had lived through the war? and that initially, she set out to write a screenplay about her frustrations over the slowness of the international community?s response to the genocide: ?It kept leaning toward Yugoslavia at the time, I wanted to learn more about it and the people, the more I read and learnt I was drawn to that part of the world. I met artists from that part of the world and found they were extraordinary for what they’d gone through, so I wanted to give them a platform.”

These are photos of Kirsten ?Kiki? Dunst last night at the All Good Things premiere in New York. I covered the trailer for the film here - I think it looks really, really good. Kiki costars with Ryan Gosling (who was oddly not at the premiere) as a young, rich New York couple in the 1980s. Kiki (as the young wife) gets murdered, I think, and Gosling is the top suspect. I really don?t know why he didn?t show up for the premiere? it?s very odd.
Anyway, Kiki wore this fug Valentino - what the hell is going on with the sleeves/cuffs? They?re some weird little off-white swirls that have absolutely no place on this dress. But you know what? Even if you took the swirls off, the dress would be at best boring and at worst, budget. Kiki can do so much better when she puts her mind to it - I guess she was trying to not do her little vintage/flea market/consignment shop fashions for once, but therein lies the problem: she has bad taste when she?s picking out stuff from current designers. Just my opinion.
I will give her some credit though - she looks sober, and her hair and makeup are solid. The little bob haircut is especially cute.

Reese Witherspoon was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. Reese brought along her boyfriend, agent Jim Toth, (not show) and her two children from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe, Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7. She also posed with the chihuahua who starred with her in the Legally Blonde movies! (Allegedly, it’s not like we would know the difference.) The 34 year-old Oscar winning actress was lovely in a cap sleeve black dress with red polka dots and patent red peep toe heels. In her acceptance speech, Reese made some nice comments about her fellow actors and being part of the acting community:
Reese Witherspoon received the 2,425th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today in honor of her Oscar-winning movie career, which started in 1990 with an open casting call for the tear-jerker coming-of-age drama Man in the Moon.
“What I understand now, after 20 years of making movies, is that the achievement is being part of a community of people?often who have done this for generations?who are the best at what they do,” the 34-year-old actress and Glamour cover girl said.
With Reese were her kids, Ava and Deacon, and filmmaker James L. Brooks, who just directed her in How Do You Know?out Dec. 17, natch.
Also sniffing around the ceremony was the chihuahua who played Bruiser, Reese’s closest companion in Legally Blonde.

That’s cute that the Legally Blonde chihuahua was there! I also love that she brought her kids with her. She does try to shield that from the paparazzi, but it’s so nice that they were able to share in this with their mom. They’re such good looking kids.
Kaiser and I were just talking about Reese earlier this week, and we agreed that we both like her and somewhat identify with her personality. Kaiser wrote me that Reese “seems very professional, very organized, very judgy,” and “like she has a low tolerance for fools and a–holes.” You can also tell that she’s a hard worker who puts her best foot forward and trudges through difficult situations. Now that she’s in a good place in her personal life and has a new boyfriend, Reese has definitely softened somewhat. Straight-laced Reese even spoke in a recent Glamour interview about feeling sexy.

They recently announced plans to draw an end to their marriage, but Eva Longoria and Tony Parker mustered up the strength to have a face-to-face sitdown in Los Angeles on Wednesday (December 1).
The "Desperate Housewives" actress and her basketball star ex met up at a local hotel for lunch, though sources tell that a reconciliation is not in the works.
Dishing on the meetup, an Us magazine insider tells, "It was just a friendly lunch to work out the details of the divorce."
The reunion comes after Miss Longoria submitted her legal papers on November 17th while citing "irreconcilable differences" amidst rumors of cheating on Parker's behalf.
Despite the unenviable situation, the Us source added, "It's been very amicable. They still get along."

Partaking in a night honoring the best in country music, Carrie Underwood turned up at the CMT Artists of the Year event in Franklin, Tennessee on Tuesday night (November 30).
Held at The Factory, the "Before He Cheats" singer arrived clad in a Jenny Packham Spring/Summer 2011 collection frock complimented with a multi colored Swarovski crystal clutch 18k white gold Lumina earrings.
During the course of the festivities, Miss Underwood offered up a performance while also being called to the stage to accept her Artists of the Year trophy.
With Kevin Costner acting as host, the musical showcase is set to air on CMT this Friday, December 3rd at 8/7c.

Seemingly not getting her wish thus far, Lindsay Lohan was greeted by paparazzi as she left the Sober Shine House in Palm Desert, CA on Wednesday (December 1).
Dressed like a sexy schoolgirl, the "Mean Girls" starlet covered her face with her notebook as she continues treatment while trying to get the pesky photogs banned from the Betty Ford premises.
The sighting comes amidst rumors that Miss Lohan is being courted by the producers of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars".
According to Radar Online, the hit show's producers are doing their best to woo the troubled actress as a potential contestant for the upcoming season.
