I was talking to some friends on Zoom Sunday about lockdown breakups were anticipating. Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher came up, particularly because weve heard for years that their marriage is strained, but also because Carrie just posted a bikini pic. When women who dont typically post photos like that start doing it, my spidey sense goes up. Well Carrie might have actually been promoting something, because CMT just covered the fact that theres a four part series with Carrie and Mike, premiering tomorrow, called God and Country. I really hope someone else does the highlights for me, but Ill watch it if I have to. Its going to be published on a site called I Am Second, which Wiki calls a platform for Christian evangelism. Its a non-profit founded by Norm Miller, the CEO of Interstate Batteries. Anyway Carrie and Mike are being used to get the message out about Jesus, because he doesnt have enough followers in Merica. (Im sorry for phrasing it that way! I respect Christianitys core beliefs, just not the way theyre misinterpreted and weaponized by the right.)
In the series trailer, Underwood admits that she always swore she?d never marry a hunter before she met Fisher. ?As a child, never, not in a million years. We just differ drastically,? Underwood admits.
And after their storybook wedding in 2010, when their first son Isaiah came along in 2015, she recalls thinking, ?Oh my gosh. I?m in love,? she said. But after Isaiah?s birth came three miscarriages, and Underwood explains how that was when she chose to lean into her faith instead of away from it. ?I just had an honest conversation with God. I was hurt,? she says through her tears, ?and I told Him how I felt.?
According to a press release about the series, the show will giver viewers an up-close and unfiltered glimpse into Underwood and Fisher?s life together, their relationship and faith, along with some much-needed inspiration on how they continue to sustain their marriage and find purpose beyond their careers as a country singer and a retired NHL player.
?We wanted to do this to share some of our personal journey in hopes that viewers will be inspired by it, and maybe even take one more step in pursuing a relationship with God,? Underwood said of the new series.
?Since first filming with I Am Second six years ago, I have seen God continue to grow my faith as Carrie and I have together walked through the natural joys and struggles of life. This new series is not only a continuation of the 2014 White Chair film, but hopefully a reminder to individuals of God?s faithfulness in all situations,? Fisher added.

I watched the trailer, below, and Mike seems kind of how do I put this, pretty but dim. That could be because hes got one of those faces that doesnt look real. Its telling that Carrie said we just differ drastically and I was never good with other peoples kids while Mike said that hes always wanted lots of kids. Carrie and Mike got married in the summer of 2010. She said, later that year and as late as 2012, that she wasnt planning on having children. She and Mike have son Isaiah, 5, and Jacob, 1. (Shes been open about her miscarriages, which were in 2017 and 2018.) So something changed for them to have kids, but Ive always had the impression that it wasnt Carries idea at first.

One popular school project is to ask young children questions about their parents. Its a fascinating window into what children think about and how they perceive their families. The answers are often sweet, and sometimes funny. Carrie Underwood shared on Instagram the answers that her older son, Isaiah, who is four, gave his teacher about her. (Carrie and her husband, Mike Fisher, are also parents to Jacob, who just turned one in January.) Apparently, Carrie, who is 70, has a job that involves wash[ing] the laundry. She must sing and act when shes able to squeeze it in:

Carrie Underwood won favorite album country for Cry Pretty. I know she bugs some people, but I appreciate that she stays in her lane, that shes a consummate professional, that she puts on consistently great performances and that shes somewhat uncontroversial. Taylor Swift has made so many other artists look super mature in comparison. Carrie was in a purple sequin Stello gown that was half high-slit with a spaghetti strap top and half draped gown. Its weird yet not that interesting, but its better than we usually see from her. She didnt do pageant or wear something with a bunch of fringe hanging off of it so points for that. Her eyelashes look ridiculous and shes wearing gold platform sandals but baby steps.
Heidi Klum, on the other hand, keeps reverting to her fashion comfort zone of terribly fug. She was in a Monsoon babydoll dress with a silver top that barely contained her boobs and a very short full navy feathered skirt. Girl. At least her new young husband is a musician so she had an excuse to be there. Look at her expression in the second photo.
Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam are couples goals. How beautiful does she looks? Her look is by Dundas and its perfect. The camera panned to Taran during Keshas performance and his jaw was hanging open.
Do you remember Alyson Stoner? Shes the dancer who killed it on stage with Missy Elliot at the VMAs this summer 17 years after she appeared in the Work It video as a child. She was at the AMAs in some kind of sponcon with T-Mobile and her outfit was so great I wanted to talk about it. A metallic rippled bustier with punchy black and silver sequin trousers and a matching jacket. Yes please. Lets see more of her.
Kelsea Ballerini was in a crimson sequin Gucci suit with an open tuxedo jacket and no shirt. I feel like this look is so over. Just wear a shirt and be comfortable. Or throw on a bra, its not that hard.

Carrie Underwood is currently on a quick break during her Cry Pretty Tour 360. Shes also getting ready to host the CMA Awards on November 13. It makes sense that Carrie used the lull to announce Wednesday that shes writing her first book, FIND YOUR PATH: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life (Holy subtitle, Batman!):
Underwood, 36, will introduce readers to her Fit52 program, as well as delve into her personal journey and how she navigated the pressure to look perfect, according to the press release.
Fitness and healthy living have been a passion of mine for years, the mother of two said in a statement to PEOPLE. It took time to find my way and navigate my wellness journey, and this book will provide tips and tools to help the reader find what is practical and sustainable in his or her everyday life for all 52 weeks of the year, and help lead them toward a positive lifestyle.
People notes that Carrie founded the fitness brand, CALIA, so this seems like a natural extension of that work. The article also stresses that the book isnt going to be a typical diet book:
Rather than focusing on a fad diet or workout program, she wants people to find a routine thats easily incorporated into their daily lives. The goal? She wants to guide her fans on a lifelong path to health.

Accordingly, Carrie is also going to get personal, and will talk about her passion for sports as a kid, to the pressure to look perfect and fit the mold as she launched her career after winning American Idol, to eventually discovering the importance of balance and the meaning of true health.
Carries fitness routine is simple and practical, according to senior editor Jessica Sindler. Im sure that many of Carries fans will jump at the chance to follow Carries wellness routine when the book comes out next year from Dey Street Books. (The same HarperCollins imprint is releasing Lindsey Vonns memoir, too, and I just discovered that it published the graphic novel about President Obama and Vice President Biden teaming up to save the world.) Getting back to Carrie, I am so wary of and uninterested in celebrity-created/touted diets. As the press release specifically says that Carries routine doesnt involve any fads and isnt focused on a specific diet, maybe hers will be one that people will find helpful.

Last nights ACM Awards marked Carrie Underwoods return to performing just two and a half months after having her second baby, son Jacob. Shes been back in the gym of course and has been frustrated that shes not seeing results sooner and cant do as much as she could before she got pregnant. We know because she posted about it to Instagram. Last night she told ETs Nancy Odell hat shes in an adjustment period after having her baby.
My body is completely different than when it was a few months ago, and it?s always weird, kind of, to come back and [ask] do I still have it? Can I still sing? Underwood said. Because I had an obstruction in this area for nine months, and now it?s gone. And it?s an adjustment period and it?s on the early side of me.
It?s the ACMs, I had to come. I wanted to perform, she added.
As for baby boy Jacob, Underwood revealed that the little guy has just started laughing, which is the sweetest sound in the whole world.
It?s getting bigger and bigger and he?s just making laughing noises and it?s like, ?Was that a laugh? she said. And now it?s getting more and more. And he?s such a smiley baby, and so was my other son. They?re special when they?re smiley.

I cant imagine what its like to be a performer and to have to be on and get back in shape so soon after having a baby. Thats insane to me. I was lucky to be a stay at home mom for my sons early years until I started this site. I didnt even go to a meeting until five months postpartum and I remember feeling so different and not like myself.
So Ill give Carrie a pass on this Nicolas Jebran black and silver sequin one arm dress. The top is decent and I like the lines of beading. The bottom is a ridiculous split skirt with a privacy panel down the front. Thats just a weak design feature. She did change into a better dress, an ombre blue chiffon Tadashi Shoji, for her performance.

Carrie Underwood welcomed her second child, son Jacob, not even two months ago, on January 29. She has a tour coming up in May and events to prepare for along with a four-year-old at home, Isaiah. Shes got to be feeling the pressure to prepare and along with that comes body image issues. Carrie posted an Instagram from the gym along with a message about how shes not going to be as hard on herself for not snapping back as quickly as she did with her first baby.

I?m going to be honest, ?bouncing back? after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I?ve been pretty hard on myself lately. I go into the gym and I can?t run as fast or as far. I can?t lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself againfor my body to feel the way that I know it can. As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me. It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk. As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can?t. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal. I?m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I?m always working towards my goals, one day I?ll reach them. Im so impressed with the celebrity women (including this rockstar) who continue to work while pregnant and right after giving birth. (Thats not to say that any woman should have to do that or that we should expect it. Maternity leave should be more generous and mothers should have a choice.) Cardi B performed last night just three months after having a baby and Carrie Underwood showed up very pregnant, where she won for favorite female artist country. When she walked up on stage I noticed that she was wearing heels, which I definitely did not do for most of my pregnancy. She has to be at least seven months along, maybe eight. She announced in August when she was likely more than three months. Carrie later revealed that she has sadly suffered three miscarriages in two years.
This black Steven Khalil gown was one of those maternity looks where she didnt look pregnant from straight on, but was very obviously so from the side. I know a lot of us eyeroll when pregnant women hold their bumps on the red carpet, but I understand the urge. Imagine seeing photos of yourself later where youre like I just look big, you cant tell. This is a typical pageant-like look for Carrie but I like the details on this including the draped open sleeves, the folded fabric on the back, and the burst of copper sequins along the front.
Kathryn Hahn was in a Balmain dress that was like a kicky long tweed jacket. This was such a fun look and it highlights her incredible legs.
Erika Jayne of RHOA was also in Balmain. This is more recognizably Balmain in that its busy, short and full of angular lines. Thats not to say its bad, just that its a look that was popular a few years ago. It doesnt have the same impact now. Also that braid in her hair is too much.
Heres Bebe Rexha in a Balmain gown with huge shoulder pads and clusters of silver sequin lines. I really like this, its retro and fun plus it shows just the right amount of leg vs. neckline. She looks amazing.

I know a majority of you have Carrie Underwood burnout but I cant help it, I still like her. The woman is so Type A and shes been so controlling around the fact that she suffered a facial injury and reconstruction that there are conspiracy theories that it was a cover story for something. Just look at her at the CMT Music Awards last night though. Shes done up to a T and is wearing an intricately beaded tight mini dress with a deep v neck and some awesome shoulder pads. Im mildly disappointed that her hair isnt teased up to high hell as thats what this dress calls for. Carries husband, Mike Fisher, also came out for her. Everything you need to know about Carrie is evident when shes on a red carpet.
Carrie performed Cry Pretty, which you can see a clip of here and sh ewon Female Video of The Year, for The Champion featuring Ludacris. Carrie has won more CMT awards, which are determined by fan votes, than any other artist in history. Blake Shelton took home Video of The Year and Male Video of The Year for Ill Name The Dogs. Kelly Clarkson performed American Woman, Just Jared has that performance. She was looking really cute last night in a full length black gown with a high slit and large rhinestones at the shoulder and waistline. I am here for the shoulder pad comeback. Her makeup is really garish though and her lipstick was overdrawn. You can do an 80s look without the bad styling too. (Except for the hair. How I would love to see trashy 80s hair again.)
Lindsey Vonn was there with her new boyfriend, a hockey player for the Nashville Predators (Carrie Underwoods husbands team), named P.K. Subban. She gave a sourced statement to People and everything, which makes me wonder if this woman ever learns! Also she looks gorgeous, that dress fits her like a glove and I love the cool way its draped and folded along the bodice.
Lauren Alaina wore this goofy mullet dress which had a weird brocade overlay with one giant shoulder ruffle. Just no. Something nice I like her hair and makeup.
Honestly I dont pay much attention to Kelsea Ballerini but she got married six months ago and shes clearly still in the honeymoon phase with her husband, Morgan Evans. (Hes also a country star.) They were all over each other on the red carpet. I like her little sequin bra top and pants combo, thats really cute and suited for this event.
Heres Sugarlands Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush. Nettles is so pretty but that dress looks like fancy lingerie.
