More than a year ago, Chelsea Handler?s E! contract was not renewed. It?s still up in the air as to whether Chelsea wanted to leave E! (which is what she always claimed) or if E! was really tired of her crap, especially since she only got the job in the first place because she was sleeping with the boss. Whatever happened, Chelsea was out of Chelsea Lately. This drama went down at the same time that Craig Ferguson and David Letterman announced they were quitting CBS, and CBS began to search for their replacements. What I believe: Chelsea went in to several meetings with CBS and made sure that her name was mentioned prominently as a potential replacement for both Ferguson and Letterman. All of the ?sources? talking about Chelsea going to CBS were from E! and allegedly close to Chelsea. She really did make a play for those jobs. And she didn?t get them. So now she?s playing it off like going to Netflix was her plan all along.
When David Letterman announced he was retiring from the Late Show, there was much speculation that Chelsea Handler might be his lucky replacement ? but the comedian actually wasn’t interested in the job.
“I was not interested in going to a network. I was never interested in taking somebody else’s job. That’s not an interesting job for me. I [had already done] something very similar,” the former Chelsea Lately host told reporters at a Television Critics Association panel on Tuesday. “It was never a very serious conversation.”
Since ending her E! talk show last August, Handler has partnered with Netflix and is in the planning stages of putting together a new talk show of sorts that will run “at least two” days a week. More immediately, Handler is producing Chelsea Does, a Netflix original film series consisting of four documentary-style projects starring Handler.
“It’s been a really transitional year for me. A lot of changes have happened and to have this come together in a way that I’m so proud of ? I don’t know that I’ve ever been able to say that about something that I’ve done before,” Handler said. “I’ve always thought, ‘Oh, that’s funny.’ But I’ve never been like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ ”

Is this the truth? I seriously doubt it. I think she tried and failed and now she?s saving face by claiming that of course she wasn?t interested in going to CBS. It would perhaps be more sympathetic for her to come out and say ?Yeah, I tried and I didn?t get it and it sucks.? I might respect her honesty.
Incidentally, what is funny to me is how quickly Chelsea has become utterly unimportant in gossip/celebrity culture. Like, I last wrote about her in February. It?s not that she?s ?gone away? either ? she?s been especially thirsty on social media, trying desperately to get press for anything and everything. As for her Netflix talk show? I thought the whole point of leaving E! was that she was tired of interviewing celebrities?

I?ve really tried to stop getting mad about the crap Gwyneth Paltrow sells on Goop. The Goop online store has always been full of many very elite products, but it is what it is. Gwyneth sometimes pretends that the Goop Store is for peasants and elites alike, but it?s not and that?s okay ? there are tons of online boutique shops that are not for me or anyone in my income bracket.
Now, all that being said? we can still laugh. Because Goop?s latest elite collaboration is just BEYOND. As Gwyneth explains, ?We asked Edie Parker to designed a duo of hip-hop-themed clutches, just for us.? On one clutch, there?s ?pearlescent, pool-blue acrylic?emblazoned with ?Biggie? in white on one side, and ?Pac? in red on the other.? On the other ?hand-poured black acrylic? clutch, the names ?Hov? and ?Shady? are in silver and gold on either side. You can see the clutches here. The price tag for the clutches? $1695. SERIOUSLY.
Would you spend $1700 on ugly acrylic clutches that are hand-bedazzled (or whatever) by Edie Parker? Would you spend that money on clutches emblazoned, nonsensically, with Biggie/Pac or Hov/Shady? I sincerely hope that Tupac returns from his hideout in Cuba just to sue the sh-t out of Gwyneth. I hope Eminem devotes an entire song to Gwyneth and how stupid she is.

Page Six has some exclusive photos of a woman wearing a burqa and some sandals ? go here to see. Page Six claims that the woman is Gisele Bundchen and they even ID her longtime driver. The claim is that Gisele donned a burqa to hide her face as she entered an elite plastic surgeon?s office in Paris. The claim is that Gisele is getting a boob job! GASP. Record scratch. Do you mean that Gisele?s body isn?t perfect? Do you mean that breastfeeding two children took its toll on her breasts just like the mere mortals? Oh, and they also say she?s getting some eye work done. Huh.
This woman in a burqa was not heading to any prayer services. Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her kid sister hid under traditional Muslim wear ? during the holy month of Ramadan ? so they could get secret plastic surgery in Paris, The Post has learned. The Brazilian stunner orchestrated the cloak-and-dagger mission so she could sneak into the swank International Clinique du Parc Monceau for work on her boobs and eyes, sources said. A dead giveaway was the footwear ? Muslim women are forbidden from wearing open-toed shoes.
A source said she was concerned that her breasts had sagged after having two children ? and the surgery was a 35th-birthday and post-retirement present to herself.
Gisele and sister Rafaela were picked up by Bundchen?s longtime chauffeur at the Bristol Hotel and driven to the clinic on July 15, sources said. The next day, after the two surgeries, the trusty driver ? who has worked for Gisele since at least 2010 ? took the two women back to the hotel, where they packed up their belongings. He then drove them to the exclusive Les Sources de Caudalie spa, where Bundchen recovered for five days before leaving Paris.
The former Victoria?s Secret Angel, who made $47 million last year as the world?s highest-paid model, according to Forbes, faced a chump-change tab of about $11,000 for her surgeries. On Friday, Bundchen was photographed in sunglasses as she and Rafaela strolled through Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on their way back to the United States. Gone was the burqa ? which has actually been banned in France since 2010.
Bundchen, who had vowed to never undergo plastic surgery, announced her retirement from the runway in April, telling the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that she had ?learned to listen to her body.?

I believe that women should be able to do whatever they want just as long they don?t blatantly lie about it (like Renee Zellweger). Gisele has always been about health and being natural, so getting her boobs done and getting some eye work isn?t really on-brand for her. Obviously she wants to keep it quiet so she can continue being smug (yeah I said it) about how her life is so much better than everyone else?s and all of that. Besides, there have been steady rumors for years about Gisele having early plastic surgery work. I think the conspiracy theory is that she?s had one of the best boob jobs around since she was a teenager? I sort of believe that. I also believe she might have gotten an early nose job. We?ll see.

By now you probably know that I think Cara Delevingne is pretty overrated. I think most of her fame and success comes from nepotism and connections (her parents are rich, well-connected aristocrats), plus a healthy dose of social media savvy and being the public trainwreck that people love to watch. I also believe that Cara should have gotten a bigger backlash last year when she completely mishandled being (justly) called out by Vogue for being an unprofessional mess who slept through the interview because she was partying too hard the night before.
So, that?s my general impression of her: poor little rich girl with a martyr complex. Party girl who only talks about solidarity and women-supporting-women when she?s being called out for unprofessional behavior. But here?s something new: is Cara also sort of a brat? That?s my question after watching what could have been a simple, breezy morning show appearance turn into an awkward disaster. To be fair, it wasn?t just Cara ? or ?Carla? as they called her ? turning this interview into messy morning show amazingness. But Cara seemed? off. Here?s the clip from Good Day Sacramento:
Full disclosure: I?m actually a morning person, in that I can be fully functional, coherent and truly awake very quickly after I get up. But I could never be ?perky? like morning show anchors. Not without heavy medication or a buttload of caffeine. So, just on that alone, I think there was always going to be some awkwardness between peppy, perky Californian morning anchors and a jet-lagged, hard-partying, hungover British girl. Maybe it was being called ?Carla? or maybe she was just tired of doing press, but it did feel like Cara had a chip on her shoulder. It felt like she stifled (just barely) several eyerolls as she deigned to answer their questions. So? unprofessional brat or completely reasonable given the circumstances?

Having fully earned the title of ?man?s best friend,? dogs can become just as much a part of the family as people do. And Demi Lovato is mourning the loss of her beloved pooch pal this week.
On Tuesday (July 28) the ?Heart Attack? songstress took to her Twitter account to let fans know her dog Buddy passed away.
Demi wrote, ?We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday. He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong. We have incredible people around us and so much love and support which is holding us up in this time of need. Buddy was loved by so many people and as small as he was, he made a huge impact in our lives. He truly was human in a way and we were so blessed to have him in our lives. We ask you that you please respect our privacy while we take this time to grieve and remember the magical moments we spent with our little angel. We will never forget our baby boy Buddy and his gentle loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever. RIP my tiniest little nightingale, Buddy...?

I?ve been wondering aloud about Kate Winslet?s very alleged tweaking for years now. For what it?s worth, Kate does look less ?worked on? these days, but I still believe she had some eye work done several years ago and it took a while to ?settle.? Why bring this up yet again? Because Winslet has returned to one of her favorite subjects: how natural she is and how difficult it was to grow up as a beautiful white woman in England. Don?t get me wrong, we all have difficulties and struggles. It?s just that Kate seems a bit heavy-handed with the ?woe is me? act. Kate appeared on Running Wild with Bear Grylls and here are some assorted quotes:

Kate began acting when she was still a teenager and while she wasn?t rail-thin, she was perfectly beautiful with a very attractive figure and she was widely praised and applauded for both her beauty and her figure. So? I?m not really understanding how she can claim that she never got positive reinforcement from anyone when she was younger? I also feel like it?s the wrong message to send that ?curves are good/lucky/better? and everything else is bad/unlucky/worse. Shouldn?t the message be self-love and body acceptance no matter what, skinny or curvy or big-bootied or small-busted or whatever? To just own who you are without comparing and contrasting?
