There?s some evidence that Jessica Simpson?s marriage has been falling apart for a while. Everything seemed fine up until a year ago. Then, rather suddenly, Jessica?s whole demeanor changed, and she looked like she?d gotten some drastic cosmetic work. For months now, there have been stories here and there usually in TMZ about Jessica and Eric Johnson?s marriage and divorce lawyers. Jessica?s fans have noticed that Eric has been missing on her social media for more than a year as well. Now Jessica and Eric are both playing the rings-off game, and it?s gotten so noticeable that even People Magazine is raising the ?separate lives? alarm:
Jessica Simpsons husband Eric Johnson has been spotted without his ring as a source tells PEOPLE the pair has been spending time apart. Johnson, 45, was photographed walking in Los Angeles sans wedding band on Tuesday, Nov. 12 amid rumors of a rift in his marriage to Simpson, 44, whos preparing to release new music about 16 years after her last original studio album.
Shes working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school, the source tells PEOPLE. Jess and Eric very much live separate lives.
Over the last several weeks, speculation about the state of their relationship grew after fans noticed Jessica hasnt been wearing her wedding ring for many months.
Hasn?t posted a pic of her husband in a year, one social media user wrote on Sept. 23. Another social media user added, She reminds me of a newly single girl in her latest posts
Jessicas last Instagram feed post with the former NFL player was from September 2023, when she wished him a happy 44th birthday.
[From People]
Yeah, I?m not sure why they?re dragging this out, other than the kids are still pretty young? Birdie is only 5 years old, Maxwell (the oldest) is 12. But Eric and Jessica are clearly separated and have been for a while. Maybe she?s so involved with relaunching her music career, she just hasn?t gotten around to filing for divorce. I wonder why Eric hasn?t filed though? I have a theory, actually: my guess is that they?re holding off on a divorce because Jessica?s finances are so chaotic right now. Jessica isn?t liquid at all she?s put everything into buying back her brand/clothing line. Eric is probably holding off on the divorce until he can get a financial settlement.

Last year, Jessica Simpson gave an interview to Bustle which stressed me out. She was funny and real, as always, but she talked a lot about her business. She and her mom bought back Jessica?s eponymous fashion line, and they put their own money into it, to the point where Jessica was overextended and unable to pay for her lifestyle. She was also going back to country music, trying to settle down in Nashville, and recording another reality show about her life and musical comeback. Basically, it sounded like Jessica was being pulled in twenty directions and her professional life was the most chaotic it had ever been. In that interview, there was very little information about her marriage to Eric Johnson or their three kids. Then, in recent months, there?s been a steady stream of gossip muttering about how Jessica?s marriage is possibly on the rocks, and how Eric has basically disappeared from her social media. Now TMZ says that people close to Jessica have consulted divorce lawyers on her behalf?
Two people directly connected to Jessica Simpson have spoken with 2 divorce lawyers in the last 2 months specifically about Jessicas marriage to Eric Johnson TMZ has learned.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ late last month someone close to Jessica went to a Los Angeles divorce attorney and said Jessica was unhappy in her marriage and wanted to arrange a meeting with the attorney and Simpson. We do not know if this was done at Jessicas behest, but were told the message to the lawyer was clear. Were also told up to this point Jessica has not made contact with the lawyer.
And, weve learned someone on Jessicas team made contact with another Los Angeles divorce lawyer regarding matters that were divorce-related. Again, so far were told there has been no follow-through.
Jessica and Eric have been married for 10 years and have 3 children. Jessica posted Monday, Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearth my singular magic. This comeback is personal, its an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve. Its unclear what JS was referring to, but people online were buzzing about her marriage.
[From TMZ]
I actually believe that their marriage is on the rocks and probably has been for some time. While Eric was by her side when she went into recovery and got sober, it felt like both her alcoholism and her sobriety put strains on the marriage. In the years since, she?s remained sober, but her professional life has become shambolic. Maybe Eric and Jessica have just outgrown each other, or maybe Jessica like so many women these days is trying to get out while the getting is good, i.e. before Donald Trump and the Republicans take away no-fault divorces.

Over the summer, Jessica Simpson did a big exclusive with Bustle an editorial and an interview. I hadn?t seen new photos of her in a while and I was startled by how different she looked in those pics. She said, in the interview, that she?s not on Ozempic, but her face tells a different story. Well, Jessica stepped out this week in New York, and here are some photos of her appearance. She was honored at Footwear News? Annual Achievement Awards and she received the Icon Award for her successful footwear and clothing company.
I?m not sure how much I want to get into it or try to figure out what Jessica has done to herself. After her third child and after Jessica got sober, she steadily lost weight and that changed her face. But? yeah, I also think she?s gotten some work done and it?s not good quality work either. She was always so beautiful, but it?s actually on-brand for Jess that she sort of looks like a Real Housewife now.
Professionally, Jessica is seemingly in a good place, so at least there?s that. She and her mother have basically bought back full control of Jessica?s eponymous clothing line and brand, and Jessica is maybe/probably still in debt up to her eyeballs. It honestly feels pretty tenuous, so I hope everything works out in the end.

| Jessica Simpson is just like us, her credit card was declined at Taco Bell | Added 939 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jessica Simpson?s whole appeal is that she?s truly a ?normal person.? She reminds everyone of someone they know, a wacky neighbor or a friend from high school or that girl with the bad picker and a good heart. Jessica is just like us. She farts in meetings, she dates sh-tty guys, she has trouble losing weight and she wears her heart on her sleeve. Now we can add something else to the list: Jessica?s credit cards get declined at Taco Bell. Just like us! The backstory is simple, which is that Jessica and her mom have bought the majority stake in Jessica?s billion-dollar shoe/fashion empire, which means Jessica doesn?t always have funds available for a Taco Bell run.
Jessica Simpson has been investing money in her brand ? and it?s resulted in an awkward moment or two.
?I am draining my bank account,? the ?Irresistible? singer, 41, said during her Tuesday, April 19, appearance on The Real. ?I have no working credit card. It?s OK. I will pay in cash. I went to Taco Bell the other day and my card got denied. I?m on a budget, ladies!?
The Open Book author explained that she?s currently working on expanding her clothing brand to include lines for boys and men, and when it comes to her business, she?s willing to go all in.
?With money, there?s just so much fear attached to it,? the Texas native said. ?And I?m the person that you get mad at at the blackjack table. I?ll put it all out there if it?s me that?s driving the show, because I believe in myself and I know what I can do. And I know that nothing will stop me, and if you try to stop me, I?ll try harder.?
[From Us Weekly]
It?s remarkable to think of how few women actually approach business this way. Like, even reading this story made me want to check my bank account online. I need to know I have money? in case of emergencies, in case I need to walk away (from what, I have no idea), in case I need an emergency fast food fix. That being said, it doesn?t sound like Jessica actually has her finances together if her card is being declined at Taco Bell? But whatever.
I?m including the full interview on The Real below. She also talked about how it took her three years to lose 100 pounds following her three pregnancies, and how she?s big into goal-setting and incremental progress.

For years now, there?s been a lot of misinformation about Jessica Simpson?s business, her eponymous fashion and shoe line. I?ve seen comments on this very blog claiming that Jessica doesn?t own her business, that she just licensed her name out and other people do the work. That?s not the case. What is the case is that Sequential Brands Group owned a majority stake in Jessica?s brand, but she and her mother still owned 37.5% of the label. Considering Jessica was one of the first singer-celebrity-designers to have a big, successful mass-market label, Jessica has made A LOT of money from her brand, even without the majority stake in the company. And now? she and Tina are about to gain a majority stake, if not the whole company:
Jessica Simpson and her mother, Tina, are about to pull off the ultimate mother-daughter power move as they plot the next chapter for their billion-dollar brand, which has defied the odds and become one of fashion?s longest-running success stories.
For the past several months, Jessica and Tina, who currently own 37.5% of the brand they founded in 2005, have been negotiating with Sequential Brands Group Inc. to buy the remainder of the business. (The Simpsons declined to comment on whether the deal had been completed. Sequential bought the majority share from Camuto Group in 2015 but filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August and has been rapidly selling off its portfolio.)
?It means the absolute world to me to be able to take over complete ownership of my brand,? Jessica told FN last week. ?After 16 years in business I feel ready to meet this next exciting phase with open arms. I know the sky is the limit when my mom, our incredible team and I lock into our customers completely.?
The watershed moment also brings a sense of pride to mom Tina, who said this has been the team?s main goal for some time. ?For all of our hard-working, talented, amazing licensing partners, to know Jessica is at the helm gives them strength and belief in the future. And for Jessica to regain control of her namesake brand, it allows her and I, alongside our amazing team, licensing and retail partners to build the legacy brand to carry on to her children and family,? she explained.
Currently, the Jessica Simpson women?s footwear line is licensed through Camuto Group as part of a long-term partnership, and will remain intact no matter who is the majority owner.
[From Footwear News]
I?m happy for her! I wonder if she and Tina have the money to buy it outright or if they?ve getting money from silent partners or investors. In any case, Jessica?s label is the most successful part of her portfolio, and in recent years, that?s where most of her efforts have gone too, towards designing and building the business. People make fun of Jessica?s line for not being high-class or high-fashion, but she makes cute, affordable things and I know there are a lot of people who quietly swear by the quality. Like, Jessica?s shoe line is supposed to be particularly good for the price range, and Jessica really cares about making cute, affordable, wearable things. She?s not trying to be high-fashion!

| Jessica Simpson threw out her scale: 'I have no idea how much I weigh' | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jessica Simpson is genuinely relatable for so many women. She has a history of dating douchebags. She has substance abuse issues. She grew up in a suffocating, ultra-conservative Christian family. But perhaps the most relatable thing about Jessica is her yo-yo dieting, her fluctuating weight, and people talking sh-t about her looks and her weight. Jessica is a short, curvy woman and she?s spent years learning the hard way that she can?t really fight her shape, and she can only be as healthy as possible. That?s not just about diet, exercise and abstaining from alcohol it?s also about being mentally healthy regarding body image and expectations. So she threw out her scale.
Jessica Simpson told Hoda Kotb on ?Today? that she has no idea what her current weight is, having banished a scale from her home some time ago.
?I threw it out,? Simpson, 40, told Kotb in a preview of the segment, which airs Thursday.
?You said it was, like, a Ouija board in church,? Kotb said, ?bye-bye.?
?I have no idea how much I weigh,? Simpson went on. ?Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up. If I don?t, I have another size. I have every size. I?ve really tried my hardest to not let that define me,? she added.
Simpson revealed earlier this year that she weathered a bout with COVID-19, calling the past year ?especially intense.?
?We have all been handed challenges and fears in our lives that, at times, felt like too much to overcome,? she said. But the singer signed a big deal in December with Amazon for a mixed publishing and TV deal, based on her 2020 memoir, ?Open Book,? according to The Hollywood Reporter.
[From Page Six]
First of all, I?m here for a major Jessica Simpson comeback. I would actually love it if she did another reality show, this time as a 40-year-old mom of three, perhaps with a mix of her business and family life. They could even call it a ?docu-series? and make it fancy. As for the no-scale thing? I also refuse to weigh myself at this point. I?m not 17 years old anymore and I really don?t give a fk what the scale says at this point in my life. I?m a big believer in throwing away scales and just living your life. I?m glad Jess is there too.

| Jessica Simpson spent 'years beating myself up for an unrealistic body standard' | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Back in the day, when Jessica Simpson first became famous, she was the ?curvy? blonde in pop music. That was one of the ways she set herself apart from Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore. Jessica was the one with big boobs and just a curvier figure overall. Look back at those early photos though, and I guarantee that you will be surprised by just how slender she really was. Over the ?00s, her weight fluctuated a lot I remember when she lost so much weight for the Dukes of Hazzard movie, and then she gained weight when she dated Tony Romo, and on and on. It was especially hard for Jessica because I think she?s always craved the good opinion of the fashionistas, the cool kids, the taste-makers, and those were the people who tended to see Jessica and her weight as a punchline. Jessica is back on the promotional trail to hype the newly-released paperback version of her bestselling memoir, Open Book. There?s more stuff in the paperback about her struggles with her weight:
As a young singer and breakout reality star in the late 90s, Jessica Simpson endured such intense scrutiny about her looks and weight that it often eclipsed any other news about her life. Its a topic she wrote about in her bestselling memoir Open Book, newly out in paperback. In the newly released version, she includes a journal entry from 2009 when a concert appearance made headlines and put the attention into hyper drive for how she looked in mom jeans.
At the time, she wrote, Today my heart breaks because people says Im fat.
Why does the cruel opinion of this world get to me? she continued in her diary. Last week I read back to my journals from 1999 and I beat myself up about how fat I [was] before I even gave the world a chance to
Now 40 and a mom of three kids ? Birdie Mae, 2, Maxwell Drew, 8, and Ace Knute, 7 ? with husband Eric Johnson, Simpson reveals how she healed from the hurt and what shes learned from sharing her story.
There is a wonderful movement for body positivity now and the response to that portion of my story has been overwhelmingly supportive, she tells PEOPLE. I dont think people always realized that there was a human being, a beating heart and working eyes with actual feelings behind those headlines and that words can hurt and stay with you for a lifetime.
Looking back, Simpson says, I spent so many years beating myself up for an unrealistic body standard that made me feel like a failure all of the time. I am still a work in progress when it comes to self-criticism but now I have the tools to quiet those voices in my head when they speak up. And she adds, I believe in my heart that a healthy body and a sound mind-body connection are whats truly important and help me accept imperfections as beauty.
Its a bittersweet moment, she writes as she rereads her journal entry from over 10 years ago. I hate that I was treated as an object to be tossed around like a rag doll, she writes, but I smile to see me talking to myself back and forth across all these years.
[From People]
I?ve said before that I consider Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce to be the start of a change in pop culture perceptions about what kinds of bodies are ?beautiful? or desirable or fashionable. Jessica should be in there too I always loved her for her very real weight struggles because? that?s normal. Millions of women beat themselves up for their weight and not being able to stick to a diet and all of that. Jessica was always very relatable to me. I also always loved the fact that Jessica led with her boobs as someone with big boobs, I?ve always enjoyed seeing how Jessica tries to harness her girls and what kinds of clothes she wears to feel comfortable and cute.
Here are some photos of Jessica in 2009 when people were calling her ?fat.? It?s shocking how great her figure was, isn?t it? I still say that the only real problem was just that she didn?t know how to dress when her weight changed.

| Jessica Simpson hasn't wanted to drink at all during the pandemic: 'That's a big blessing' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m going to tell you something shocking: Jessica Simpson?s memoir, Open Book, came out THIS YEAR. Doesn?t it feel like a lifetime ago? It came out pre-pandemic, and we got about ten stories out of it, which is pretty good for a celebrity memoir. Jessica spilled some vintage tea about her marriage to Nick Lachey, her relationship with John Mayer, her alcoholism and tons of other stuff. The memoir was well-received and I really respected Jessica for putting so much of that out there. Jessica recently spoke to SiriusXM?s The Jess Cagle Show about her pandemic life, sobriety and lots more. Some highlights:
Why she wrote her memoir, Open Book: ?I did make a huge shift in my life?. I was at that point in my life where my kids were growing older and they were watching every move that I made. I just really wanted clarity. I wanted to understand myself cause I didn?t even realize how much I was drinking and how much I was suppressing. I thought it was making me brave, I thought it was making me confident and it was actually the complete opposite, it was silencing me?.
On her sobriety: ?It?s almost been three years which is crazy, I mean it?s pretty, its awesome. People are like ?don?t you want to drink during this pandemic, oh my god aren?t your kids driving you crazy.? I?m like no, I do not want to drink, like, I have not wanted it, I feel like that?s a big blessing. Once I surrendered and gave it over I never looked back and my husband did it with me so that support was amazing.?
The pandemic journal: ?Through the pandemic every morning I journal and I haven?t done that in forever. Normally it was to do song writing or something like that. But now every morning I sit with my journal, I confront myself before I confront my family.?
How she hit rock bottom with her alcoholism: ?It just ended up coming to a surface. I knew a lot of it was coming up, coming up and I couldn?t suppress it any more. The alcohol was not numbing anything. It wasn?t numb anymore, I was just numb. I couldn?t even understand stuff that was coming out of my mouth, it didn?t sound like me. So I really had to get back inside the person that I am. When you do that self-reflection its very empowering. It takes a lot of courage. I can promise anyone on the other side of that fear, that courage is so beautiful and its one of the most rewarding things and decisions I have ever made in my life. And I never thought I would have to make that decision.?
On turning 40: ?I am, like, embracing the quarantine life. I freaked out two months before I turned 40, not knowing that that age would even mean anything to me but then its like 41, 42?. I?ve never calculated my age until now?. I am accepting it slowly [laughs] I just think I am such a person that reminisces, I hold on to so many memories, I am tragically romantic like that about my own self?.. Thank god I put a memoir out at 40 because if not it would have been 800 pages if I waited any longer.?
[From SiriusXM?s The Jess Cagle Show]
?I am tragically romantic like that about my own self? is such a surprisingly self-aware comment and it also made me laugh! And now I?m wondering if I am tragically romantic about myself too? Am I? Anyway, turning 40 is no fking joke and it does make you take stock of your life and what?s going right and what?s going wrong. I actually appreciate that Jessica?s alcoholic bottoming-out wasn?t some huge crime or drunken arrest or anything she was just self-medicating and her husband was tired of it and her friends were tired of it and she was tired of her drunk self. I would love to read her journals!

On Monday, which would have been Met Gala Day, Vogue published an ?oral history? of the gala. The gala was postponed indefinitely this year, and while we haven?t heard anything about it possibly going on in the fall, I think the chances are pretty good that there simply won?t be a Met Gala this year. Still, we got to enjoy some vintage drama from the Vogue oral history, including this story from a Vogue staffer named Sally Singer. Singer told a story about Jessica Simpson and John Mayer at the 2007 Met Gala:
On Monday, Vogue published a comprehensive oral history of the Met Gala, which includes a series of excerpts written by celebrities, designers, models and more. In the post, former Vogue creative digital director Sally Singer recalled witnessing a surprising exchange between Jessica Simpson and her then-boyfriend John Mayer in 2007.
Singer revealed that at the Poiret: King of Fashion-themed ball, Simpson?s breasts maybe fell out of her plunging, beaded Roberto Cavalli halter-neck gown while she was on the red carpet. And, according to the fashion editor, the wardrobe malfunction only got worse when Simpson, now 39, and Mayer, now 42, took their seats inside.
?At dinner it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson?s breasts are across from me at the dinner table and they are on a platter and I?m looking at them,? Singer said in the Vogue piece. ?And John Mayer was putting his hands on them at the dinner table. He kind of reached down and I just remember thinking, ?Oh, celebrities, feel free to play here. That?s what?s going on?.?
[From People]
When Jessica released her memoir earlier this year, there was a lot of introspection from various media figures about how they treated Jessica over the years. She was used as a punchline for a lot longer than it was funny, and a lot longer than her ?ditzy America?s Sweetheart? act went on. You know what I mean? She played up the ditzy thing on Newlyweds, but for years after that, people still treated her like she could barely function because she was so stupid. Anyway, Jessica posted this on her IG:

Feeling a little like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) oral history of the #MetBall where I am body shamed by #SallySinger (https://www.vogue.com/article/the-complete-met-gala-oral-history) ?But in all seriousness I have persevered through shaming my own body and internalizing the world?s opinions about it for my entire adult life. To read this much anticipated article about the classiest fashion event there is and have to be shamed by another woman for having boobs in 2020 is nauseating.
