Christian Bale has been on his do-gooder world tour for a while now. From visiting victims of the Aurora theater shooting to visiting a kid with leukemia to even taking a kid to Disneyland, he’s become the new Mother Teresa if Mother Teresa had nuts.
His latest effort in making us all look bad is writing “Dan’s Our Man” on his face and having the photo posted to Facebook. The phrase is in regards to 21-year-old Danny Hammond who’s been suffering from astrocytoma, a tumor on his spinal cord, since he was 9. People have been posting “Dan’s Our Man” messages to his Facebook page and five days ago the photo up top showed up.
Although most contributors are family and friends, Christian Bale recently sent his own show of support, sending a pic with “Dan’s Our Man” written across his face. Bale found out about Hammond through Hammond’s cousin, a costume designer who has worked with Bale.
This makes me feel terrible. The nicest thing I’ve done in the past few months is give a homeless guy a dollar and it’s not so much that I gave him a dollar as it is I wanted him to change it out for four quarters. The awkward silence as I stood there waiting for change was deafening.

Making a return to the small screen, Jada Pinkett Smith is set to join the cast of Fox?s ?Gotham.?
Starring alongside Benjamin McKenzie, the ?Matrix? hottie with portray villain Fish Mooney in the pre-Batman city of Gotham.
Her character is described as "a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner [with] the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she's not one to be crossed."
The series is based on the DC Comic characters from the Batman universe and explores the origins of Commissioner James Gordon and his rookie detectives.

Though Kim Kardashian has denied having any extensive work done in the past, fans can?t ignore her obvious transformation from Persian princess to plastic reality television queen. Now, experts tell RadarOnline.com exclusively that it?s clear she?s had some work done!
?Is Kim a plastic surgery addict? Probably not. But maybe a ?plastic surgery enthusiast,?? Dr. Anthony Youn tells RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. ?It appears to me Kim?s had quite a bit of work done ? some she?s admitted to, and some we can speculate about.?
Indeed, she copped to having Botox done as far back as 2010 and Dr. Youn ? who has not treated Kardashian ? says that the results are obvious.
?I believe she?s undergone Botox injections to smooth the wrinkles of her forehead and her frown lines,? Dr. Youn said. ?Although I doubt she?s had a surgical brow lift, she looks like she?s had a Botox brow lift, where Botox is injected in a pattern to raise and arch the brows.?
In addition, Dr. Youn declared, ?I do believe she may have gone under the knife for a nose job, thinning out and straightening her nose, making it look more glamorous.?
Further down, he said, ?Her lips appear to have been plumped with fillers, although she doesn?t sport the ?trout pout? of some other reality stars.?
In addition, licensed aesthetician and beauty expert Alicia Hunter told Radar that Kardashian has gone to great lengths to keep her lashes looking lush.
?Kim has luscious traffic-stopping lashes whether she?s grocery shopping or walking the red carpet,? Hunter, the author of The Accidental Diet: From Fugly to Fab, explained. ?That said, they?re extensions! Kim favors individual silk and lash extensions done in a most dramatic length and thickness.?
And as if that weren?t enough, Hunter said: ?She piles a strip and an additional half-strip on her outer corners for special occasions ? even if that occasion is just a night in with the family!?
Providing the foundation for all of that work is her picture-perfect skin, but that doesn?t come cheap either: Kardashian has admitted to getting $1,500 ?vampire facials? to keep herself looking eternally young!
Last spring, she posted a pic of herself undergoing the bloody procedure, which involves drawing blood from a patient?s arm with a needle, separating the plasma, and then combining that with Restylane or Juvederm to be injected into the face.

I have always said that one of the reasons why Kim?s face looks so weird in close-ups is because she?s had laser-hair removal on all of her baby-hairs on her hairline. Vanity Fair finally published Graydon Carter?s full essay about ?The Paltrow Affair? ? in the beginning of the month, VF published only some of it, but now the whole thing is online and you can read it here. There?s nothing really groundbreaking in there ? Carter shades Gwyneth for sending out that blanket email to her friends and colleagues, or as Carter writes: ?She asked that they not speak to Vanity Fair about her, or about anything else ever again. Ever. Never. Kim Jong-un couldn?t have issued a more blanket demand.? Carter goes on to somewhat objectively describe the online kerfuffle that arose as we (and other sites) tried to guess what Gwyneth had to hide.
Among the Goop gossip we discussed/theorized about last fall were the rumors of Gwyneth?s alleged infidelities. There were stories about her alleged affair in 2008 with billionaire Jeffrey Soffer. There were stories about an affair with a ?mystery literary figure?. Carter referenced the ?affair? rumors cryptically, but he basically says that he decided against covering all of that in VF. And now there?s a new piece of information swirling its way through the intertubes. The basic gist is that there?s a new ?secret-sharing app? called Whispers where people can share rumors, info, gossip anonymously. Someone on Whispers shared this:
Kevin Yorn is kind of hot. You can see of a photo of him here. So, is Goop hitting that? Blah, who knows? Goop?s rep told Gossip Cop that the rumor is ?100% false? and the same rep told The Daily Mail, ?The story is completely false. Gwyneth knows Kevin casually through business contacts. She is not at all romantically connected to him.?
But Gawker contacted Neetzan Zimmerman, Whisper?s editor-in-chief, and asked him about the source for this rumor. He tweeted: ?I can’t reveal their identity for obvious reasons, but it’s a person with extremely close ties to Gwyneth who came to us directly after Graydon Carter wrote that missive about why VF walked away from the Paltrow profile last year. I have no reason to suspect they’re lying about this, and if anyone would know the truth, this person would.? Fascinating. Seriously, this is really interesting.

Last week, Leonardo DiCaprio covered the new issue of Variety. This week it?s Matthew McConaughey. Leo gave a wonderfully personal, extensive interview about his craft, about his years in Hollywood, about what he?s learned. The message was pretty much ?this is my time, give me that Oscar.? Matthew?s Variety interview is strikingly similar, although Matthew?s career arc is different ? Matthew was a ?company man? doing rom-coms and big-budget nonsense for more than a decade. Then he took some time off, refocused and came back as an indie darling. As opposed to Leo, who has never sold out like Matthew, I suppose. It?s an interesting side-by-side comparison. You can read Matthew?s full cover story here, and here are some highlights:
Working in indie films: ?For the first time in my career, I lost money! No joke!?
His affection for rom-coms: ?It is a hard challenge to make it work, to tell a story you?ve seen time and time again that you know what the ending is going to be. You have to stay light, you have to keep it moving. You drop anchor in one of those movies, and the whole thing sinks.?
Taking a break for a few years: ?I went to my wife and my agent and said, ?I?m going to stop for a bit,? I?m going to sit back in the shadows. I?m getting into my 40s, a great time for a man. I?ve started a family. I want to take time to laugh and love and enjoy these adventures? We?re a team. I know it?s not easy on her, though she does it with aplomb.?
Learning how to say no: ?I just knew I was going to hold out for a while and things would dry out. I didn?t know how long they would dry out for, and that was scary. I would get sent things and the paychecks were great, and I would say no. Then, they quit sending them altogether. And then ? nothing. So the message got through.?
But then the big dogs came to the yard: ?All of a sudden, I became a good idea for people like William Friedkin and Steven Soderbergh ? people who hadn?t called before, who maybe wouldn?t have seen me as a good idea three years before?It wasn?t a conscious choice to go indie. It was just that my head was down, looking for great characters. And those are harder to find in the big movies. And when you have a role like that in a studio film, they aren?t coming to me. They?re talking to George Clooney.?
Losing weight for DBC: ?I ate well. Just very small amounts. Five ounces of fish, twice a day. Cup of vegetables, twice a day. The secret is, I gave myself four months.? During that time, he also immersed himself in Woodroof?s past, meeting with his family and studying his diaries, which were given to him by Woodroof?s sister and daughter. ?It was such an insight into this boyish mind, these small town wanderings,? McConaughey reveals. ?It was my secret weapon.?
Matthew knows Marty Scorsese too: ?I showed up [on the Wolf of Wall Street set] and had already lost like 25 pounds,? he laughs. ?Marty was like, ?Stop, I need you to stop!???
Talking about himself in the third person: ?I?ve got a saying: When faced with the inevitable, get relative. The inevitable was, I?m going to do this. I?ve got support from my family that insulates me. I surrounded myself with everything I needed to go on this adventure. And the focus was exciting. I said to myself, ?We?re taking a trip, McConaughey. This is a story you want to tell. Those adventures you talk about ? you?re on one now.???
Losing the weight made him hyper-aware: ?I went from being cranky to hyper aware,? he says. ?That clarity is hard on other people, because my bullshit meter was zero. I was like, ?Speak up. No adjectives or adverbs. Just nouns and verbs. Speak!??
He name-drops Christopher Nolan too: McConaughey had run into Nolan over the years, but it was at an event about two years ago he says the director first praised his work. ?He came up to me and said, ??Mud.? I love that movie,??? McConaughey recalls. He was later asked to fly to Los Angeles to meet with Nolan. ?I sat down with him for about 2 hours at his house,? he recalls. ?Not one word came up about ?Interstellar.? I walked out not sure what to think. I mean, he?s not a guy who takes general meetings.? Clearly Nolan liked what he saw; McConaughey was offered the role. ?Interstellar? might break McConaughey?s streak of independent films, but he does point out that Nolan, who began his career with small pics like ?Following? and ?Memento,? still brings an indie sensibility to big-budget movies. ?There?s no f–king around on set,? the actor notes. ?He?s a great problem solver. In that way, he?s very indie. Here?s a guy who could have whatever budget he wants ? and we finished shooting early.?
And in the end: ?For the next two months, I?m playing the character of Matthew McConaughey, an actor proud of the films he?s been in,? he says, before again opting for the third person. ?And if any of those films or his performances are in awards shows, he?s going to go, heart high and head up, and look them all in the eye and say, ?Damn right this is a great time in my career.? That?s the role I?m in now. I?ve got a lot to be thankful for.?

The career stuff is what it is. I don?t begrudge Matthew the awards he?s received thus far (okay, I begrudge him the SAG Award a little), but I?m happy that Matthew has found his footing as a proper actor and I?m also happy that he?s not disrespecting the years he spent in an endless parade of rom-coms. He finds a nice balance between respecting the work then and loving the new path he?s on. But is it enough to get him an Oscar? I don?t know. Truly. I think his bizarro, druggy SAG speech hurt him, quite honestly. In a perfect world, I?d like to see Leo and Matthew cancel each other out and the Oscar would go to Chiwetel. But that probably won?t happen.
Also: I love that Matthew talks about his wife. That?s one thing that he genuinely has on Leo that works in MM?s favor: he has a loving, supporting wife (who isn?t in her early 20s) and he?s the father of three beautiful children. The Academy prefers that to Leo?s modelizing.

Here are some photos of Christian Bale and his wife Sibi arriving in LA after a long weekend in London, where they attended the BAFTAs together. I wanted to talk about Christian because? well, we have barely discussed him at all in months. Which is weird, right? I mean, we talk about him in association with other people, but mostly it?s been all quiet on the Bale front.
It?s strange because Christian is the lead in one of the biggest films of the awards season, American Hustle, and he?s promoted the film off-and-on for months. He?s given interviews, he?s done red carpets and press conferences and yet? there hasn?t been any news. He?s managed to get another Oscar nomination (for Best Actor) and yet all of the attention has been going to Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (and a bit to Amy Adams). I feel like the hype around Hustle is all wrong ? I walked out of that film mostly impressed with Bale (that?s the most I?ve ever liked him) and with Jeremy Renner. I thought Bradley was overwrought and J-Law?s part was overhyped and showy.
Anyway, I just thought I would point this out: Christian Bale has pretty much run the most quietly effective Oscar campaign this season. He hasn?t made any news, he?s fulfilled all of his PR obligations, he attended film festivals and he?s attended all of the awards shows he was nominated for. He got his Oscar nomination and I think that is enough for him. Part of it is that he already has an Oscar, so there?s no ?hustle? for that big prize anymore. And part of it may be that Christian really doesn?t want to campaign this time around. He?s happy promoting the film, but he?s not interesting in shaking hands and doing a lot of extra stuff for an award. It?s like he?s found the perfect balance between ?Michael Fassbender/publicly declaring that he won?t campaign? and ?Leonardo DiCaprio/actively coming to play and kissing all the babies.? I call it “professionalism”.

These are photos of Rihanna in Beverly Hills on Monday. She’s wearing a body hugging white dress with no bra. This is something we’ve come to expect from RiRi. She often walks around in very sheer tops with no bra underneath. We’ve seen RiRi’s bra rebellion many times, but it is notable as one of the topics that Rihanna discussed during her new interview with Vogue.
We already covered Rihanna’s third Vogue cover that arrived with a budget shoot. The interview is almost as budget but is much more endearing. Rihanna actually seems pretty sweet here. She repeatedly tries to dress the journo up as “Rihanna” and fails miserably. I mean no shade against the journo at all. Rihanna can wear anything — even sweats with heels — and look amazing (if slightly trashy). Most people cannot look hot in sweats, but Rihanna tries valiantly to make it work on the journalist. RiRi also confesses to getting most of her jewelry from Claire’s boutique. I have semi-fond 1980s memories of Claire’s. I got my ears pierced there and gleefully walked out into the mall food court with my dad. Then I passed out. The rest is history, and so is Rihanna’s discussion:
Shirt or bra, not both: “If I?m wearing a top, I don?t wear a bra. If I?m wearing a bra, I just wear a bra.”
Statement jewelry only: “My jewelry?s all fake — from Claire’s. Or I get it from my mom’s boutique in Barbados. Her shop’s called FAB-U-LUS,”
Her notorious selfies: “Instagram is my way of communicating to the world. When I’m on tour, I keep fans in the loop. I don’t really think about it too much. Literally, I can be sitting in a car and be bored, so I do a selfie just because I’m bored. Or if my dog is running around in circles and I think that?s funny, I put it on Instagram. I follow girls from the Middle East. It gives you ideas.”
Her latest weave: “It’s not my hair, but the girl who donated it, she’s the bomb. Black girls never let anyone see this,” she adds, pulling apart the locks at the back of her head to show me the intricate workings of the false hair, which is woven into a net attached to her own. “I have two main hair people I work with. They’re always with me. I’m like, ‘I’m bored! I wanna change my hair!’ That’s the good thing about a weave. You can do whatever with it.”
Abandoning LA for NYC: “I’ve downsized. I want a smaller closet. I want simpler. I want to just take it back to what’s important. When I’m on tour, if I walk out of the hotel to go to Starbucks, it’s like, thousands of fans are walking there with me. It’s a lot. And that’s why I don’t do much on tour. I just hide out in my hotel.”
She loves 4-inch heels: “I can dance in them. It’s not about pain. It’s about the commitment. I say to myself, ‘I want to look like this,’ and worry about the pain later. I’ve had nights I had to tiptoe home and the balls of my feet wouldn?t even allow me to stand.”
Her personal style: “More than anything, I like a jacket. You can do anything with a great jacket, the bigger the better. You can have any silhouette underneath. It gives you an attitude. It makes a gown look cool. I love baggy things. I wear men’s clothes, men’s shoes, oxfords, creepers. When I was thirteen or fourteen, I didn?t want to wear what my mom wanted me to wear. I was very much a boy in my style, my demeanor. All my friends were guys. I loved things that boys did. I loved being easy with my clothes. I loved wearing hats and scarves and snapbacks on my head. It was my way of rebelling. I wanted to dress like my brother. After a while, it was just easier for Mom to dress us both the same. We wore the same jeans, the same T-shirts.”
On her reputation: “I don?t go out of my way to be a rebel or to have that perception, but a lot of the decisions I make, a lot of the direction I want to move, is against the grain, or against society?s tight lane, and I’m aware of that sometimes. We’ve covered Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s relationship exactly two other times: when we first heard that they were dating, about a year ago, and when we heard that they were engaged, last November. That’s not for lack of interest, they’re TV stars who were big players on popular shows, and they’ve both crossed over into film, which is how they met, on the set of 2011?s The Oranges. The lack of coverage is because they’ve played it very low key throughout their relationship, to the point that the press has had to dig to even learn that they actually got married. I love this. E! Online has the most details, which are still scant, and it’s worth noting that neither has publicly confirmed their relationship, engagement, nor marriage. Sources are telling the celebrity outlets that it’s true, though.
Leighton Meester married Adam Brody in a secret wedding ceremony, E! News confirms.
The TV stars were most recently seen relaxing at Mexico’s St. Regis Punta Mita Resort from Feb. 12-15, just weeks after Meester reportedly had her bachelorette party at West Hollywood restaurant Hamburger Mary’s.
The 27-year-old Gossip Girl star and the 34-year-old O.C. actor got engaged in November, just nine months after it was first revealed that they were an item. The famously private pair, who met on the set of 2011?s The Oranges, have never officially confirmed they were a couple, nor did they confirm their engagement…
Meester makes her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men this spring. Brody, meanwhile, next appears in the movie Think Like a Man Too. The newlyweds are both slated to star in the comedy Life Partners.

I used to think Sharon Stone was aging naturally and well. But then many of you claimed that Sharon?s appearance isn?t merely about good genes and healthy living ? many believe she?s undergone some quality face work over the years. I?m sort of at that point with Sharon too ? I believe she?s had some work done and I believe the work has been astonishingly good. Anyway, Sharon covers the new issue of Shape, and at 56, she?s still comfortable enough to wear a bikini on the cover. I could not and I?m decades younger than her. In the interview, Sharon talks about plastic surgery, aging and how she?s never had any face work done. Do you believe her?
Aging gracefully: ?This idea that being youthful is the only thing that?s beautiful or attractive simply isn?t true. I don?t want to be an ?ageless beauty.? I want to be a woman who is the best I can be at my age.?
Is she really saying she?s never had work? In her new cover story, she touches on the fact that many surgeons have tried to get her to go under the knife for a face-lift. Her biggest concern with plastic surgery is that everyone is starting to look the same. ?We’ve got 400,000 girls with beachy blonde hair, the same nose, gigantic lips, implants in their cheeks, and little Chicklets for teeth. Are they really prettier?? she says.
She wasn?t always confident: ?There was a point in my 40s when I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine, locked the door and said, ?I?m not coming out until I can totally accept the way that I look right now.? And I examined my face in the magnifying mirror, and I looked at my body, and I cried and cried and cried. Then I said to myself, ?You’re going to get old now. How do you want to do that?? And I thought, ?I’d like to age like a dancer.? I want to keep my body in shape like that. I want to do the work. I like to dance and stretch. And I like going to the gym.?
Her workouts: ?Every time I exercise, I do something different based on which areas need to get in motion,? she says. She credits her physique to total-body stretches, strength straining, yoga, and dance. She proves you can fit in a workout anywhere, and we mean anywhere. ?Sometimes I do a series of standing leg lifts and circles in the tub, using the water as resistance.?
She loves meat but she doesn?t drink: ?I like porterhouse steak, rib-eyes and New York strip. This works for me because I have very low cholesterol and low blood pressure. It’s not good for everyone; you have to talk to your doctor about that. I also eat fish and cheese. I like clean food prepared as simply as possible. I used to love wine, but I don’t drink at all now. I think, at a certain point, it’s better for women not to have any alcohol because it can make your face, breasts and midsection get very bloated.?
She likes who she is now: ?I?m not trying to make myself look like a girl because I?m not a girl anymore. I?m very happy about being a grown woman. I think there?s a lot of sexuality, and glamour, and allure, and mystery to being a woman that you just don?t have when you?re young.?

I stopped drinking for similar reasons several years ago, although now people think that I?m, like, an alcoholic on the program. No. I?m just vain and I hated the way alcohol was making me puffy, tired and irritable. But I don?t eat anywhere near as much red meat! Goodness. Some people can eat a lot of steak, and while I do crave red meat a few times a month, I can?t do it all the time.
As for the plastic surgery? well, she?s never confirmed that she?s had work done and she doesn?t seem to be explicitly saying that she?s NEVER had work done, so what we?re left with is some sort of oddly worded half-denial. I think if you have to play that fast and loose with the wording, you might as well admit you?ve gotten some subtle, quality work.

Katy Perry led the subpack at last night’s Elle Style Awards ceremony. Katy won Elle’s Woman of the Year award, and she’s the only one, out of the group covered in this post, who actually tried to bring it. Did she succeed? We shall see. Katy wore Vivienne Westwood Gold Label, and I find it hard to diss any Westwood dress. Westwood is one of my favorite designers, but here, the dress comes up slightly short in comparison to most Westwood designs.
Don’t let me overstate the negative. I do dig this dress a lot. The fabric is sumptuous, and the rose print is fun and quirky without being obnoxious. What messes things up is Katy’s hair. She’s obviously wearing a wig. In two weeks, Katy’s hair will be much longer, but that will be a wig too. I do like Katy’s silver shoes, and her makeup looks slightly more natural than usual. Such a shame that the wig makes her look two decades older than her true age.
Jessie J chose a fuschia Tom Ford mini dress and dominatrix-styled boots that looked like they were ripped straight from the Contempo Casuals racks. This dress highlights her amazing body, but that trait isn’t necessary for a style show. Jessie J has also gone in for some extensions too. Wasn’t her head completely shaved only a year ago?
Suki Waterhouse is tired, y’all. She’s been shuttling between the BAFTAs and London Fashion week. Suki was named Model of the Year and wore Burberry Prorsum. Earlier this week, she strutted down the Burberry catwalk and showed off her bum while Bradley Cooper enthusiastically chatted up Anna Wintour. Hmm.
Pharrell Williams left his crazy mountie hats at home, and he forgot his socks too. His wife, Helen Lasichanh, is much more interesting. She changed up her hair and looks cute in hot pink. Pharrell looks like he thought too much about his shiny, seaweed-green pants.
Kylie Minogue went with the always reliable little black dress. She’s preparing to release a new album, Kiss Me Once, on March 18.

Teresa Palmer announced the birth of her son on Instagram on Tuesday.
Thank you God for blessing us with the most divine gift of our baby son. Introducing Bodhi Rain Palmer born safely, lovingly and naturally last night. 8lbs even. Bodhi means “Enlightened one” Rain means “Abundant Blessings From Above” and we chose Palmer as his last name as Marks son Isaac didn’t take his dads name either. Thanks for all the blessings and love everyone :):)
She posted that creepy picture of the kid trying to steal her ring like Gollum or something. This kid’s first words are probably going to be, “My preeecious.”

Happily growing their family to three, Teresa Palmer and husband Mark Webber welcomed a baby boy on Monday (February 17).
The "Warm Bodies" star announced the arrival of son, Bodhi Rain Palmer, on Instagram, with the little one weighing in at 8 lbs. on the dot.
?Bodhi means ?Enlightened one,? Rain means ?Abundant Blessings From Above? and we chose Palmer as his last name as Mark?s [5-year-old] son Isaac didn?t take his dad?s name either,? Teresa wrote. ?Thanks for all the blessings and love everyone.?
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the happy couple announced their engagement and pregnancy news back in August and were later married in Mexico.

Earlier this week, the 26-year-old mom of little Luca was in the Bahamas for a Valentine's getaway with her little boy and husband Mike Comrie (from whom she recently separated).

In the current issue of Self magazine, the "Safe Haven" star opened up about moving on after breaking up with Ryan Seacrest.
Keeping her heart closely guarded, she revealed, "I?m a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the ones I?ve been in. They?ve been excellent ? I?ve been hurt but never angry ? and they?ve helped me grow to be who I am today. But my goal has been to be single for an entire year. There have been moments when I?m like, ?This sucks!? But my dad used to say to me, ?When you feel happy with who you are, you won?t need anybody to fill a void.? So for now, I?m focusing on my work and my soul.
