Maggie Gyllenhaal?s second directorial feature, The Bride!, bombed at the box office in its opening weekend. The film stars Jessie Buckley as The Bride (of Frankenstein), with Christian Bale as Frankenstein and supporting roles filled by people close to Maggie, including Peter Sarsgaard and Jake Gyllenhaal. Well, The Bride(!) limped into third place at the weekend box office, making only $7.3 million domestically (and only $6.3 million internationally). The Bride had an $80 million production budget before marketing. Yiiikes.
It could be that people were really turned off by the idea of supporting another film starring avowed cat-hater Jessie Buckley though. In recent days/weeks, there has been a revival in interest for a podcast interview Buckley did last November. She came across as bragging about forcing her then-boyfriend (and now-husband) to give up his cats. She gave her man an ultimatum after his cats became territorial: it?s me or the cats, and Jessie proudly stated, ?I won.? Well, last week, she tried to take it all back.
If Jessie Buckley fails to win the Oscar for best actress next week it will be a sign that cat lovers have got their claws out. The Irish actor is the runaway favourite for her performance in Hamnet, but in recent days has stumbled into a controversy over a stated antipathy to cats.
She has said she once gave her husband an ultimatum to banish his two cats because they would defecate on pillows, telling a podcast: ?I was like, ?it?s me or the cats.??
Cat-lovers have responded with indignation and condemnation, sparking a wave of headlines and warnings that ?kitty karma? could deny Buckley, 36, her first Academy award.
She attempted to repair the damage on Jimmy Fallon?s chatshow on Thursday, saying it was a ?misconception? that she loathed cats. ?I am a lover of cats. I woke up this morning [thinking]: does the world think that I really don?t love cats? And it?s really weighed on me all day. I felt sick.?
Buckley said she had auditioned in vain for the 2019 musical Cats. ?I gave the worst audition of my life. It was so hot. I was sweating. I was like, licking my paws, like trying to leap. I was just like a hoof of an Irish woman leaping across and licking her paws.?

She?s actually lucky that this cat issue was picked up so late in the awards season she?s going into the Oscars as the only sure thing in the acting categories. But cat-lovers showed their lack of amusement when it came to supporting The Bride(!). Methinks it will take a lot more to get the cat community to forgive her bullsh-t and support her future projects.

Over the years, royalists and biographers have desperately tried to rewrite, reimagine and reengineer the early days of Prince William & Kate Middleton?s acquaintance and relationship. No one even knows when they first met, although I think it?s been widely established that they met at least once before university. We know for a fact that Kate tried to follow William around during their gap year, and we also know that once William announced his plan to attend St. Andrews, Kate suddenly scrapped her plan to attend the University of Edinburgh and she quickly applied to St. Andrews. Even the most generous royal biographers struggle to describe Kate?s behavior as anything other than a sort of creepy fixation with William. She repeatedly threw herself into his path for years before they started dating. When The Crown tried to deal with this issue, they blamed the university switch on Carole Middleton trying to meddle on Kate?s behalf, like Carole was the one throwing Kate into William?s path. LMAO. The Princess of Waless decision to attend the University of St Andrews raised her parents eyebrows when she first filled them in on the news following her ten-week trip to Chile. She was in South America on a volunteering expedition with the Raleigh International Programme and returned home to Berkshire with an idea. The young student revealed she intended to enrol in the Fife-based institution.
However, her news was supposedly not well-received by her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as they feared she was only keen to attend St Andrews to follow her love interest, Prince William, who announced he would be studying there in August 2000. Kate was originally due to start an Art History degree at the University of Edinburgh before her change of mind led her to graduate with an honours degree in History of Art from St Andrews in 2005.
In his tell-all book, William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, about the royal couple, Russell Myers revealed why the princesss parents were dead set against Kate attending Williams university initially.
He said: At first, Carole and Michael were dead set against the idea, with Carole in particular worried about her daughter losing academic momentum, but after listening to Catherine explain that she believed she would be suited to the quieter surroundings of St Andrews rather than the city life that Edinburgh would provide, they agreed to her decision.
The royal journalist revealed the real reason behind Kates change of heart, and explained: The timing of Catherine?s announcement to her parents would, years later, result in accusations that she changed her mind about Edinburgh because she wanted to follow the dashing young Prince William to St Andrews, where in August 2000 he had announced he would be studying. But the truth is that during the trip she had met a fellow student, an 18-year-old girl from Somerset who was set to go to the University of St Andrews, in Fife on the east coast of Scotland, to study engineering. The two hit it off so well that Catherine decided to explore the option of changing her course while she was still away.

This revisionist history is absolutely hilarious. For years, it was ?so what, of course Kate stalked William, it worked, didn?t it?? Then it was ?actually that?s sort of a creepy story, but whatever, it ended well.? Then it was ?actually Carole Middleton masterminded everything and Kate was an innocent pawn!? And now, all of these years later, the story has morphed into ?actually Carole was very concerned that Kate would lose academic momentum because Kate would be so focused on landing William, but Kate wasn?t even thinking about William!? Its such a huge tell that everyone continues to rewrite this history too. At this point, I genuinely believe that Carole and Kate were always 100% in cahoots and this was all a joint plan. Kate wanted to go to St. Andrews specifically because William announced his plan to attend, and Carole completely backed her decision and facilitated as much as she could.

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are bicoastal they criss-cross the country constantly and they?re always popping up at New York events and various LA restaurants (like Rihanna?s favorite, Giorgio Baldi). When they?re in the LA area, Rihanna, Rocky and their three kids live in Rihanna?s Beverly Hills home. Apparently, Rihanna was home in Beverly Hills on Sunday afternoon when some madwoman fired shots at the house from an assault rifle. WTF?
A woman fired several shots into the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna on Sunday, and a round penetrated a wall of the mansion, a law enforcement source told The Times.
Los Angeles police responded to the report of the shooting at 1:21 p.m. Sunday, police said, and a 30-year-old female suspect was taken into custody. The pop star was home, the source said.
According to police, the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle toward the celebrity?s home in Beverly Hills. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Police Sgt. Jonathan de Vera, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police department.
The pop star reportedly lives in a colonial-style mansion in the Post Office neighborhood of Beverly Hills with her rapper partner A$AP Rocky. The couple share three young children, daughter and two sons. It wasn?t immediately clear whether anyone else was home at the time of the shooting.

TMZ also verified that cops were on the scene very quickly and they took this woman into custody soon after she shot up Rihanna?s house in broad daylight. The police are now investigating possible motives. I had no idea Rihanna even lived in Beverly Hills, and I?m not sure it was common knowledge? I hope the kids weren?t at home and I hope everyone is safe. What a wild story, what a wild thing to happen.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales have been publicly fighting about Prince George?s education for years now. There has quite literally been a three-year briefing campaign to the British media from both sides of the conflict. It?s always seemed like William wants George to go to his alma mater, Eton. That?s where royal boys tend to go, and William reportedly enjoyed his time at Eton. Well, over the years, we?ve learned a lot about Kate?s priorities for her children?s education. She hates boarding schools, she hates same-sex education, and her priority is apparently finding a coed school so that all three of her kids can attend the same school together. In the past year especially, the war between William and Kate has gotten more forceful on both sides, with William?s camp repeatedly insisting that of course George will go to Eton. As a rebuttal, Kate?s side has repeatedly insisted that George will be headed to Marlborough later this year. Now the Daily Mail?s Charlotte Griffiths claims that Kate has won this war and Kate and William were recently touring Marlborough.
Speculation about which secondary school William and Kates children will attend is reaching fever pitch after my spies spotted the royals looking around Marlborough College.
Despite rumours that George, 12, would follow his father and go to all-boys Eton, William, Kate, George and Charlotte toured the 60,000 a year school where Kate was a pupil after she left all-girls Downe House due to bullying.
My source tells me pupils were mysteriously ushered out of court ? the co-educational Wiltshire schools main square ? by a highly stressed teacher who told them to go and sit in the library, or anywhere else, stressing they absolutely could not be outside.
This piqued the teenagers curiosity and they crept down one of the librarys turrets to get a better look at what was going on below.
They were shocked to see Kate and William getting out of a very smart car and walking through court, my source adds. Then it clicked why the school seemed to have put on so many very wholesome extra-curricular activities that day, like choir practice and a random art show.
I suspect the walls of the schools gargantuan dining room, Norwood Hall, are echoing with speculation over whether George will join in September. He is in his final year at co-ed Lambrook prep school. Latterly royal sons, including William and Harry, have gone to Eton. Marlboroughs alumni include Princess Eugenie. Meanwhile, Kates former house at Marlborough, Elmhurst, has seen an influx of celebrity children.

Just because they toured Marlborough, does not mean that it?s 100% happening. After all, they actually toured Eton a few years ago with George, and William has reportedly been preparing George for Eton all this time. At least that?s what William?s side has briefed for years. Anyway? it feels stupid to have this level of interest in George?s secondary school, but my god, it has been fascinating to watch this play out so publicly. Kate is really digging in her heels about this and the Windsors must be shocked by that alone. It will be so revealing if Kate gets her way too.

Here are more photos from the Princess of Wales?s ONE public event last week, her visit to Leicester. I?m including some photos where her hairpiece is especially noticeable, because she really plops it on the back of her head and heads out the door. The hairpiece last week wasn?t even the same color as the rest of her hair. Unfortunately, Getty included some closeups of Kate?s feet, aka Quentin Tarantino-bait. She went barefoot in the Shreeji Dham Haveli Hindu Temple and people were talking about her feet for days. Here?s the thing: I have janky feet as well, it comes from being a long-time walker/hiker. Kate is also big into hiking and walking, and when you walk or hike for miles nearly every day, your feet are quite beat-up. Still, for someone who rarely works and spends a lot of money, Kate might want to invest in semi-regular pedicures, or at least trim her toenails. Meanwhile, at a local Indian restaurant in Leicester, Kate ended up talking about food and spice.
Kate Middleton dished about her culinary preferences at her latest royal outing. On March 5, the Princess of Wales, 44, shared the scoop at Bobbys, a family-run Indian restaurant on Leicesters iconic Golden Mile. Princess Kate visited Leicester to celebrate the culture, community and heritage of the British Indian community there, following the Hindu festival of Holi on March 4.
During her stop at Bobbys, a family-run restaurant named after the award-winning 1973 Bollywood film, Kate asked if a treat she was going to try was sweet or savory in a video shared to X by royal editor Rebecca English of the Daily Mail.
The Princess of Wales then checked out another confection, said she was okay with spice and took a bite as she sat with the restaurants owners, Dharmesh and Enna Lakhani.
Mmm. Is this coriander? the royal remarked. I love coriander and chili.
While cilantro and coriander are different terms for the same plant, cilantro is used to refer to the fresh herb, while coriander is typically used for the spice.
In another tidbit about what she ate at Bobbys, Hello! magazine reported that Princess Kate declined to add sugar to her tea.

I have no idea how people can drink sugarless tea, but then again, I don?t know how (British) people put so much cream in their tea. It doesn?t say if Kate put cream or milk in her tea, and I suspect she wasn?t just raw-dogging tea with no sugar or cream. As for the spice, we?ve heard that Kate (and not William) likes spicy food and she can handle it. I believe it, I guess.
On Sunday, Kate also marked International Women?s Day with a social media post. She signed it ?C? so we know it?s only from her. Prince William does not celebrate International Women?s Day or women in general.

Even though Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have never been designated ?working royals,? they?ve always had private charitable patronages and they?ve always taken on ?royal-style? advocacy work. I say ?royal-style? because the Windsors believe that they are the only ones capable of doing any kind of philanthropic work, and whenever a non-working royal does charity work of any kind, the Windsors rage out because that?s their turf, that?s the whole reason why they exist!! But I digress. For seven years, Princess Eugenie has been patron of Anti-Slavery International, a UK charity focused on combating human trafficking. It?s been one of Eugenie?s issues for years, she even attended meetings at the United Nations on behalf of this patronage. Unfortunately, Eugenie?s father is a human-trafficking degenerate who was part of a huge trafficking operation led by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Obviously, Eugenie?s time as patron for this charity has come to a close.
Princess Eugenie has stepped down as patron of the UK charity Anti-Slavery International, the world?s oldest human rights organisation. The decision follows the release of millions of documents and emails relating to Jeffrey Epstein which have disgraced her father and embroiled her family.
The younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has campaigned for years to highlight the plight of the victims of modern slavery and trafficking, but to date has not commented on either the Epstein files nor the allegations against her father of sexual abuse. Mountbatten-Windsor denies the allegations made against him.
The Observer has confirmed that Eugenie?s role at Anti-Slavery International has ended. Her profile has been removed from the charity?s website, which previously hailed her work ?across the board with leaders in the fight against modern slavery?.
The charity said in a statement: ?After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end. We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International. We hope that she continues to work to end slavery for good and deliver freedom for everyone.?
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Eugenie, her sister Princess Beatrice or their mother Sarah Ferguson in connection with Epstein.
Eugenie, 35, is co-founder of a separate charity, The Anti-Slavery Collective, which she set up with her friend Julia de Boinville in 2017. In the year ending 5 April 2025, the charity spent more than twice as much on salaries (191,537) as charitable programmes (97,206). The Charity Commission has confirmed it is assessing concerns over expenditure to determine if it has a role. The Anti-Slavery Collective raised 1.1m at its inaugural gala at Battersea Arts Centre in London in November 2023. The event was attended by Ferguson and Princess Beatrice, 37, along with a number of celebrities, including the singer Ed Sheeran.

I?m glad that this piece distinguished between the two charities, because this entire time, I thought Eugenie was just doing this one thing. So she?s no longer a patron of Anti-Slavery International, an above-board charity which has been around for many, many years. But she?s still part of the Anti-Slavery Collective, which she cofounded nine years ago, and which seemingly exists to pay generous salaries to her friends. Yikes. I mean, honestly, Eugenie should have backed out of all of this long before now, well before the Epstein Files started coming out. It was always going to be hard to swallow Prince Andrew?s daughter ?working? an issue her father is accused of. You don?t have to assume guilt to acknowledge that your family makes it impossible for people to see you as an honest broker on the issue of human trafficking. Especially when Eugenie has refused to say anything publicly about her father?s crimes.

Thanks to the X-Files reboot news and the return of Scrubs last week, I?ve been thinking a lot about this current Reboot Era of film and television that we?re in. Every time I think I?ve had enough, a new franchise whispers, but just give us one more try! We recently learned about a reboot that could have been, Dawson?s Creek.
It?s been almost a month since James Van Der Beek passed away from colorectal cancer. Since then, his Dawson?s Creek co-workers have been very vocal about their loss and James? legacy. DC creator Kevin Williamson is currently promoting Scream 7, which he directed. He did a big profile with Esquire. The interview was conducted after James? passing and Kevin spoke a lot about his late friend. He revealed that 10 years ago, in 2016, James wanted to explore a Dawson?s reboot. He even had a whole plan for it.
Dawson?s Creek creator Kevin Williamson recently revealed that the late James Van Der Beek once had plans to write a reboot of the beloved ?90s series, though the project never moved forward.
Speaking with Esquire, published on March 2, Williamson shared that the actor first came up with the idea around 2016, saying, ?He wanted to do it. And, in fact, there was a moment where he was going to write it ? and he had a really great idea for it. He had a beautiful plan. Then I think he got on a show and everybody got busy. It never happened. But there was a lot of talk about it.?
Williamson noted that he did not remember the specifics of Van Der Beek?s proposed plan to revive the series, but does recall it being ?funny? and ?along the lines of This Is Us.?
However, Williamson said he wasn?t sure how a reboot would work, especially considering how the series wrapped up.
?I always felt like, ?Well, we did that. We finished it.? In the last episode, we jumped five years. We went to the future. The last episode of that show was the remake. So I feel very okay with that. And I don?t feel the need to go back to that world, as much as I love them and would love to,? he added.
Dawson?s Creek aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2003, with Van Der Beek starring as the titular character, Dawson Leery.

In 2016, we had the first The X-Files revival, as well as reboots of Full House, Gilmore Girls, and Boy Meets World. I can understand why James would want to explore one of his own, but I?m with Williamson on this one. I?m sure James? idea was fine, but there are some series that serve as perfect encapsulations of the time period in which they came out, and Dawson?s Creek is one of them. I don?t think you could recreate its magic because it happened organically and spoke to the generation coming-of-age. I put My So-Called Life in that same category. That?s why (in my opinion), the 90210 reboot didn?t capture hearts the same way as the original series did. There?s also the risk of ruining your beloved show?s legacy, like the X-Files almost did. Fuller House got by on nostalgia for a little while, but trips down memory lane only last so long. While I loved Dawson?s, I?m glad it didn?t get the reboot treatment.

Mia Goth has fashioned such an interesting career for herself. I sometimes forget that she?s British too, until I hear her real speaking voice, then I remember that she?s basically a woodland fairy from an old English myth. Goth has been getting a lot of attention in recent months because of her dual roles in Guillermo del Toro?s Frankenstein. She fits in with del Toro?s aesthetic perfectly, and I could totally see him using her over and over in future films. Mia recently chatted with W Magazine for their Best Performances issue, and yes, she really is like this. Some highlights:
The costumes for Frankenstein: ?Kate Hawley, our costume designer, is extraordinary. She was buzzing with inspiration and passion. It was the first time I fully understood what a tool costumes can be in pushing a narrative forward. When I landed in Toronto, where we were filming, I was very scared. But when I went to the costume fitting, I started to find my character from the outside in. I can?t even tell you how many fittings I had. We shot for about a year, and I was in and out of costume fittings that entire time. On this movie, I wasn?t really a part of the world anymore?I was just making Guillermo del Toro?s Frankenstein. That?s one of my favorite things about making this movie?you lose yourself.
Whether she believes in ghosts: ?I do. I really want to see a ghost. Every time someone tells me, ?Theres a ghost in here,? I try to stay up late and see what happens. Nothing ever happens. Maybe I have to act as though I don?t want to see one, and then one will appear.
Whether she has any interesting scars: ?I do. When I was about 14, I stole a meatball sandwich from Costa, a caf in London, and when I put it in my oven to heat it up, I got a scar.
She was a total klepto: ?I stole so much stuff. There was a time when everything I was wearing?my headband, earrings, tights, shoes, and everything in between?was stolen. But then I got caught stealing perfume, and I stopped.?
She?s perfectly happy to lie about her skills to get a job: ?I will lie about pretty much anything if it means I?m going to get a job that I want. If you need me to horseback ride, speak Chinese, and tap-dance?funnily enough, those are lifelong passions of mine.?
She loves Sabrina Carpenter: ?I went to SNL a couple weeks ago, and Sabrina Carpenter was the host. I am obsessed! I felt like I was 6 years old again. I was looking at Sabrina and I thought to myself, I want to be five foot two and a platinum blonde, singing into my hairbrush.

The stuff about her stealing everything in sight is pretty crazy. I would imagine that was when she was a kid or a teenager? Who knows. Of course she believes in ghosts, but maybe the reason she hasn?t seen one is because she?s very ghostly! Ghosts are like ?wait a minute, I can?t haunt one of my kind.? Also: Mia just wrapped on another huge endeavor, Christopher Nolan?s The Odyssey. I love that she?s working with directors like Nolan and del Toro.

Jennifer Garner has been popping up everywhere lately to promote the second season of AppleTV+?s The Last Thing He Told Me. Some of her many press stops have been appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Jennifer Hudson Show, and Kylie Kelce?s podcast, Not Gonna Lie. She?s also done exclusive print interviews with Marie Claire Australia and People. Jen?s latest stop was the Dish Podcast to talk about food! Throughout the entire interview, Jen, who does the delightful ?Pretend Cooking Show? on Instagram and YouTube, looked like she was having the time of her life talking about her love of food.
At one point, the topic turned to food in New York City, where Jen lived in the mid-1990s when she was first starting out as an actress. Like many young actors, Jennifer did a stint working in a restaurant. Jen reminisced about those days, revealing how her restaurant would seat people and which celebrity used to regularly dine there. It was such a memorable experience that it still gives her nightmares.
[D]uring her appearance on this week?s episode of Dish from Waitrose, Jennifer opened up about this period in her life ? and even name-dropped one of the celebrities that she encountered during her time as a hostess.
?When I lived in New York, and I worked at a restaurant, part of my job for Sunday brunch was I?d get to ride a cab, they paid for my cab, and I would stop at H&H Bagels and pick up, like, several dozen bagels for the brunch,? Jennifer began. ?And while I was waiting, while they bagged them up, they would give me whatever was out of the oven. And I still remember just standing there, I?d have one after the other.?
And the star left host Nick Grimshaw stunned when she went on to reveal: ?I had to merchandise the restaurant. I had to put the beautiful people in one area.?
?What?!? Nick exclaimed. ?So they put the hot people by the front?!? To which Jennifer calmly affirmed: ?Yes! You put the beautiful people on certain tables, you put celebrities on certain tables, and if somebody even mildly famous walked in Well, somebody actually very famous used to come in all the time.?

Nick?s co-host, Angela Hartnett, who is a Michelin-star chef, then confirmed that what Jennifer had said is common practice across the restaurant industry, and that some big restaurants call the outer areas ?Siberia.? She explained: ?They have the real inner area that they sit everyone that wants to be seen, and then if youre sat outside that youre basically sat in Siberia.?
?For us, it was if you were a circle,? Jen shared. ?So, as we were writing people?s names down, if we put a circle next to them, they got seated in Siberia.?
Seating politics aside, Jen did go on to share how working in a restaurant was ?so helpful? to her in life, explaining: ?You?re part of a team. Anytime you are part of a team? If you are lucky enough to be in the position as an actor that youre being interviewed, then you are kind of the tip of a spear, right? But if you see yourself that way instead of just in the muck of the team, I think youre kinditsyouve screwed up somewhere along the way.?
?I?ve had more nightmares about my days as a hostess, more work nightmares, than I have had actors? nightmares,? she then concluded. ?And I?ve had a lot of actors nightmares!?

I love that Jen is able to view her restaurant time as a life-long learning experience that she still speaks about fondly. She?s so right! I?ve never worked in the restaurant industry, but I did work in retail for several years during and after college. I worked overnight on several Black Fridays during the time period where stores were opening at midnight, but the worst day of the year by far was the day after Christmas. I learned so much during my time in retail and still have residual mind/body fatigue every December 26 that results in me just wanting to hibernate on that day. It?s kind of crazy how our minds and bodies have life-time recall when it comes to stuff like that.
I?ve also heard about restaurants seating more conventionally attractive people in the front so it attracts more customers. Both of my sisters waited tables at a country club on Long Island when they were younger and told me that sometimes the wait staff were assigned to certain areas based on their appearance as well. I don?t know if that?s still a thing, but it definitely used to be.

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are bicoastal they criss-cross the country constantly and they?re always popping up at New York events and various LA restaurants (like Rihanna?s favorite, Giorgio Baldi). When they?re in the LA area, Rihanna, Rocky and their three kids live in Rihanna?s Beverly Hills home. Apparently, Rihanna was home in Beverly Hills on Sunday afternoon when some madwoman fired shots at the house from an assault rifle. WTF?
A woman fired several shots into the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna on Sunday, and a round penetrated a wall of the mansion, a law enforcement source told The Times.
Los Angeles police responded to the report of the shooting at 1:21 p.m. Sunday, police said, and a 30-year-old female suspect was taken into custody. The pop star was home, the source said.
According to police, the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle toward the celebrity?s home in Beverly Hills. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Police Sgt. Jonathan de Vera, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police department.
The pop star reportedly lives in a colonial-style mansion in the Post Office neighborhood of Beverly Hills with her rapper partner A$AP Rocky. The couple share three young children, daughter and two sons. It wasn?t immediately clear whether anyone else was home at the time of the shooting.

TMZ also verified that cops were on the scene very quickly and they took this woman into custody soon after she shot up Rihanna?s house in broad daylight. The police are now investigating possible motives. I had no idea Rihanna even lived in Beverly Hills, and I?m not sure it was common knowledge? I hope the kids weren?t at home and I hope everyone is safe. What a wild story, what a wild thing to happen.
