Today in ?OMG you guys? news, there?s a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot in the works?and it?s probably going to star Sarah Michelle Gellar. Right now, the reboot is still in the early pre-production stage, but a pilot is being written for Hulu by Poker Face showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, with Chlo Zhao directing the pilot, which Hulu is likely to order. After years of saying, thanks but no thanks to the idea of a potential reboot, SMG changed her mind after guest starring on an episode of Dexter: Original Sin. Thankfully, Joss Whedon has no involvement in the reboot.
More than two decades after Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended its seven-season run, the beloved supernatural drama is eyeing a revival with a new chapter in the franchise. A followup series is nearing a pilot order from Hulu, with Sarah Michelle Gellar expected to star, reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers, sources said. Oscar winner Chlo Zhao, a self-professed lifelong Buffy fan, is set to direct the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face).
The reboot hails from Buffy the Vampire Slayer studio 20th Television and Disney sibling Searchlight TV where Zhao has been under a first-look deal. Beyond the pilot order, I hear the reboot is starting a writers room soon, a sign that Hulu and the studios have high expectations for the project going to series. It is unclear yet whether other original Buffy cast members would return; that is considered likely.
Described as the next chapter in the Buffyverse, the new incarnation is executive produced by Gellar, Zhao, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman as well as the original series? executive producers Gail Berman of the Jackal Group and Fran Kuzui & Kaz Kuzui via Suite B. Also executive producing the pilot is Dolly Parton whose company Sandollar was producer on the original.
Buffy creator Joss Whedon, who also wrote the 1992 movie the series was based on, has no involvement in the reboot. He has not worked in Hollywood in any official capacity since facing a slew of misconduct allegations in 2021.
If the Hulu pilot goes to series, it would be the third in the franchise, following mothership Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired on the WB for five seasons from 1997-2001 before dramatically moving to UPN for two more, and spinoff Angel, which ran on the WB for five seasons (1999-2004).
Berman, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui previously teamed up with 20th TV in 2018 for a potential Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot written by Midnight, Texas creator Monica Owusu-Breen, on which Whedon was an executive producer. That project, whose lead was envisioned as a Black woman, didn?t move forward. Still, fans of the show have continued to lobby for a revival, their hopes fueled by a couple of high profile cast reunions.
Parton indicated a year ago that a Buffy return was still in the works, saying in an interview that ?They?re still working on that. They?re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.?
Gellar, who had been opposed to revisiting Buffy as recently as 2023, expressed openness to the idea in a December interview promoting her latest series, Dexter prequel series Original Sin, on which she is a special guest star.
?It?s funny, I always used to say no, because it?s in its bubble and it?s so perfect,? she said. ?But watching Sex and the City and seeing Dexter, and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ?Well, maybe.??
As to whether a potential Buffy revisit has to be a prequel, she said, ?No, it could be anything. It?s a universe. And it makes you realize that in this world, we need those heroes, I think, more so than ever.?
According to sources, negotiations with Gellar for the Buffy reboot had started when she made the comments. Those negotiations are now in their final stages.

So, thoughts on a Buffy reboot? I?m undecided. On the one hand, how do you say no to more Buffy? But, on the other hand, do we really need it? Reboots can be so hit or miss, that I?d be afraid that it would take the X-Files route vs. the Karate Kid (Cobra Kai) route. Sarah Michelle is right that the OG series is in its own perfect little bubble, so why mess with it? That said, I am a big fan of Zhao and the Zuckerman sisters? work, which puts me back into the more optimistic category. I don?t know! I am very glad, however, that Whedon won?t be involved in any capacity because f-ck that guy. I bet his absence is also a big part as to why Sarah Michelle agreed to do it.
Off the top of my head, these are the franchise reboots that are in the works: The Office, Practical Magic, The Princess Diaries, Suits, and The X-Files again. And thats not even counting the reboots that have already begun airing. Oh boy, I wonder what we?ll revisit next.

Last October, we heard the surprising news: Gisele Bundchen was expecting her third child, first with her boyfriend Joaquim Valente. Joaquim was Gisele?s jiu-jitsu trainer and friend, then their relationship turned romantic during or after Gisele?s divorce from Tom Brady. Most people thought Joaquim was a shoulder to cry on, the first boyfriend as she transitioned out of her marriage. But it turned into something else, and now they?ve welcomed their baby.
Gisele Bndchen is a mom again! The Brazilian supermodel, 44, has welcomed her third baby, her first with boyfriend Joaquim Valente, TMZ has reported.
No further details ? including the sex and name of the baby ? are known yet.
Bndchen is already mom to daughter Vivian, 12, and son Benjamin, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Brady, 47.
After news broke that Bndchen was expecting again, a source close to the model exclusively told PEOPLE that she was ?excited to embrace this new chapter openly.? Bndchen ?received many positive messages and congratulations,? said the insider, adding that she ?wanted to keep it private for as long as she could, doing so was starting to be a challenge.?
Bndchen has been dating Valente, a Jiu-Jitsu instructor, since June 2023.

TMZ?s sources say that Gisele is ?super happy? and ?mom and the baby are healthy. Its unclear when the new bundle arrived but were told it was recently.? So? she got pregnant last April? I?m just working through the timeline. I mean, I think this was probably a surprise baby given her age, but surprise doesn?t mean ?unwanted.? I?m sure she?ll enjoy this the third time around, and I wonder how Vivian and Benjamin are doing. I also wonder how Tom is doing, even though this is really a case of FAFO for him.

As the Karla Sofia Gascon catastrophe unfolded in the past two weeks, my anger towards Netflix grew. Netflix should absolutely regret putting so much money and effort behind Emilia Perez and not Maria. We could have had Angelina Jolie at every awards show if Netflix had supported her the same way they supported Gascon. But here we are Jolie was snubbed for Bafta, SAG and Oscar nominations. But she has still been receiving awards at film festivals and various events over the past four months or so. Last night, Jolie was in Santa Barbara for the 40th Santa Barbara International Film Festival. She received the Maltin Modern Master Award. She walked the carpet and took part in a career-retrospective Q&A session with Leonard Maltin.
Style-wise, Jolie?s look was sort of a meh/mixed bag. I?m so tired of this washed-out blonde color and I?m dying for her to go back to a strong brunette. On the plus side, at least she didn?t have those assy bangs front and center. She wore a silky cream slipdress (with pockets!) and a matching jacket. I?m not wild about it because it feels sack-dress-adjacent, but it?s far from her worst look. British Vogue even said this was Angelina doing the ?quiet luxury? trend.
Meanwhile, this week there were some absolutely bizarre rumors about Angelina and her humanitarian work. The backstory is idiotic and awful Donald Trump has basically shut down USAID (America?s foreign aid) and now Russian and MAGA people are spreading lies about how USAID was handing eight-figure checks to celebrities to ?support? Ukraine. They?re claiming that the American government paid Angelina $40 million to support humanitarian effort in Ukraine or something like that. It didn?t happen, none of it. Angelina has always paid out of pocket to support refugees and do her international work.

It?s been said by both sides of the Windsor-Sussex war: Prince Harry is genuinely close to his York cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The Sussex side makes no secret of it, and Eugenie continues to be the only Windsor-family member to visit Montecito, and Sussex sources have always said that Harry maintains contact with the York princesses. Meanwhile, the Windsors have absolutely telegraphed the fact that Eugenie and Beatrice must ?choose a side? and something something Prince William will be incandescent with rage! In any case, Princess Beatrice welcomed her second daughter in January, and now they?re making newborn Athena into another reason why Harry should come back to the UK: to visit his cousin?s baby.
Princess Beatrice may have reached out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the birth of her second daughter Athena last month, an expert has claimed. Beatrice and her sister Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, are thought to have remained close to Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, since they departed royal life in 2020.
It was recently reported by the New York Post that Beatrice is the only royal able to initiate peace between Harry and his brother Prince William after a years-long feud. A former Buckingham Palace staff member claimed that Beatrice has spoken to the two brothers to try to improve the situation.
It is perhaps no surprise, therefore, that royal experts believe she may have extended an olive branch to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan after the birth of her daughter Athena.
Jennie Bond, the former BBC royal correspondent, said Beatrice may have pinged a picture of two [of Athena] to Harry and Meghan after the birth. She told The Mirror: I dont think it will hasten a visit by them to the UK, but perhaps if charity work or business brings Harry this way hell be keen to meet his new cousin. This was lovely news. After the brutality of last year for so many of the royal family, 2025 is looking altogether brighter. It must have been rather alarming to have such a premature and tiny baby. I think the hospital has to be commended for keeping the birth completely confidential for a week.
Athena Elizabeth Rose becomes 11th in line to the throne, pushing her aunt Princess Eugenie down to 12th place.

Eugenie is down to 12th place? I doubt it matters to her she?s had one foot out the door for several years now, so much so that I?m always surprised when she does turn up at a royal event. As for Beatrice and little Athena? sure, I bet the Sussexes have gotten some photos, and I?m sure Harry would love to visit with Bea?s kids. Remember how the Sussexes made sure to stop by Portugal to visit Eugenie several months after she gave birth to her second son?

Last week, there was a surprising amount of keenery for Carole Middleton?s 70th birthday. They?ve honestly started treating her like she?s the ?queen mother,? which in a sense, she sort of is. We heard lots about Carole?s nonexistent discretion, non-denials about how she pushed Kate to stalk William, and how Carole deserves a title after years of keeping Will & Kate?s show on the road. Well, they continue to lay it on thick. Really makes you wonder why now, and how Carole was able to come in from the cold after her shameful Party Pieces catastrophe.
Carole Middleton has been by her daughter?s side as Princess Kate Middleton navigates her recovery after her cancer diagnosis.
?Carole has always been a rock for Kate, especially this past year ? she?s been amazing,? royal expert and author Ingrid Seward, told HELLO! in an interview published on Monday, February 3. ?I have met her a couple of times and the word that keeps coming back to me is ?strength.? I imagine her as a sort of pioneer woman driving a wagon with a rifle at her feet, and three children in the back, fighting off any enemy. Basically, that?s what she?s been doing all her life, isn?t it??
Seward shared that Carole, 70, has been ?a really helpful, practical and unflappable mum and grandmother? to Kate, 43, and husband Prince William?s kids: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
?Rather than ask what she can do, she just gets on with it; she?s very proactive. When William went back to royal duties, she was doing the school run and probably doing things like filling the freezer with the kids? favorite foods,? Seward said of Carole. ?Looking after the three kids would have been absolutely no problem for her whatsoever and Kate would have been able to relax in the knowledge that her mother?s hand was on the wheel.?
Seward noted that Carole has ?always? been both a ?physical and emotional support? to Kate, who shared her undisclosed type of cancer diagnosis with the world in March 2024. Months later, Kate revealed she had finished chemo and in January 2025 announced she was in remission.
?The Middletons are a traditional family, which is why William enjoyed being around them so much,? Seward claimed. ?When things go wrong, they pull together under [Carole?s] direction. She is the matriarch of this family and they all take her advice because they have great respect for their mum. And, as their only granny, Carole is very close to William and Kate?s children. I wouldn?t be surprised if she has taken them away on little holidays too. She has always organised lovely holidays for her family, from yachts in Mustique to ski trips. William plays a huge part in all this, because he just adores the Middletons. They give him the cosy family life that Diana always wanted him to have.? This might seem like a minor thing, but I?m absolutely astonished that no one has really nailed down who was doing the bloody school runs for the past two years. It was a real thing last year, during Kate?s illness/convalescence, where sources close to William insisted that he could not work because he alone was doing the school run. His people kept saying that, over and over for months. And now the story is, actually, Carole was doing the school runs. What was William doing then? And what was William doing while Carole cared for his children and Kate was going to chemotherapy alone? This is also like the new admissions that Kate spent a lot of time in Bucklebury last year, when we were told at the time that she was recuperating in Windsor, at Adelaide Cottage. Just all of these little lies, exaggerations, misrepresentations starting to add up.

Bad news came out this week: Donald Trump plans to attend the Super Bowl this Sunday in New Orleans. I hope those NOLA witches put a hex on him. But I digress it seems like it would be a huge security issue, but whatever, I don?t really care. I can only imagine the unhinged things Trump is going to Truth-Social-post about Kendrick Lamar. Politically, the equation is ?Kansas City Chiefs = MAGA? and ?Philadelphia Eagles = Democrats.? The Chiefs? management and owners are all MAGA, where the Eagles are decidedly less so. To emphasize that political disparity, reporters asked Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce about Trump?s Super Bowl appearance. Travis?s answer was pretty sh-tty, honestly, especially given Trump?s hissy fit about Taylor Swift last year.

The football stars comments come months after Trump lashed out at his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, following her endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. On Sept. 11, a day after the singer, 35, made her support of the Democratic candidate publicly known, Trump said in an interview with Fox & Friends that he was not a fan of Taylor Swift. He added, It was just a question of time But she?s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she?ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.

She?s one of the most successful artists of all time and her endorsements of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the past two elections didn?t change that. As for what Travis said? there was a concern, when Travis and Taylor first got together, that Travis was a closet MAGAt. He ended up convincing me that he wasn?t actually MAGA or all that political in general but we might have to review this again. It?s possible that Travis is just trying to avoid Trump?s wrath, but I would have appreciated a more ambivalent answer from him, especially given Trump?s comments about Taylor.
Mahomes said basically the same thing as Travis, they were probably fed the same line by Chiefs? PR department. Mahomes said: ?It?s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is in the top position in our country. I didn?t see that clip but it?s cool to hear that he?s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.? Fun fact: the Mahomes family is apparently pretty out-and-proud MAGA, and Patrick?s wife Brittany was posting MAGA sh-t last year.
