Taylor Swift?s docuseries, End of an Era, has been airing on a weekly basis on Disney+. I haven?t watched it, but I?ve enjoyed some of the stories that are coming out of it. I think I forgot that Taylor?s Eras tour technically began in March 2023 and didn?t end until December 2024. Think back to the start of the tour many believed that she was still with Joe Alwyn at the time, and then the confirmation of their split happened in April 2023. The split announcement came out for two reasons, in my opinion one, Taylor was already starting *something* with Matt Healy, and two, Taylor?s fans noticed that Joe wasn?t around for the first tour dates. Once Joe and Tay were officially over, Healy happened and it was a whirlwind romance full of melodrama and racism. It was over by June 2023. Then, that same summer, Taylor began seeing Travis Kelce. Why this walk down memory lane? Because Taylor references her ?two breakups? during the Eras tour.
Taylor Swift credits her Eras Tour for helping her get through tough times. ?The Fate of Ophelia? singer, 36, revealed in episode four of her The End of an Era docuseries on Disney+ that she faced lots of heartache in her personal life amid the worldwide tour, which ran from March 2023 to December 2024.
There were points in this tour when the tour was really the only thing that was really keeping me going in my life, the Grammy winner admitted. But there were never points in the tour where I thought, Oh, you know what? I want to quit the tour ?cause the tour?s hard. No, my personal life was hard. I went through two breakups on the first half of this tour, and that?s a lot of breakups actually.
The Grammy-award winner was seemingly referring to her split from British actor Joe Alwyn, 34, whom she dated for over six years before the pair called it quits in early 2023, and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, with whom she had a brief romance following her split from Alwyn.
The show was what gave me purpose and was what I could use to get me out of bed. So, the tour has never been the hard thing in my life, Taylor shared in her documentary. The tour has been the thing that has allowed me to find purpose outside of the s that was going wrong in my life.
Men will let you down, the Eras Tour never will, she added with a small smile.
Calling writing music a form of therapy, Taylor said of her 11th studio album, Tortured Poets album is like this purge of? just, like, everything, everything bad that I felt for two years. It was a really rough time in my life, so the songs reflect that. Feeling like I?m not a person, I?m just this like, big conglomerate that no one sees as a real human being and especially not men that I date. And in the whole process just being like?nothing, nothing works. There?s no one for me in the world.

As it was happening, it didn?t feel like the three relationships played out all in a row so quickly, but yeah? that timeline is more compressed than I recall. Of course, once she started up with Healy, I always felt like? that relationship only really made sense if she was developing feelings for Healy at the same time she was winding things down with Alwyn. I?ve always believed there was an overlap, but no one has ever really confirmed the timeline. Alwyn always kept his mouth shut, which drove Taylor crazy too. He didn?t bad-mouth her, he didn?t participate in her drama, and he walked away relatively unscathed. Anyway? it?s crazy to think that Matt Healy was really the turning point of Taylor?s adult life, but there you go.

Taylor Swift appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, ahead of the premiere of her Disney+ docuseries End of an Era. The concert film wasn?t enough, Taylor had to do a tour series! I don?t blame her for documenting all of it, truly. The Eras Tour was one of the most bonkers spectacles in music history. Taylor was particularly chatty with Colbert, and she was the only guest, so their interview, all told, was well over 30 minutes, and it was broken up into four videos (which I?m including below). She wore a $1,695 David Koma dress which has a sort of 1980s holiday-party vibe. I don?t know if Taylor does this on purpose, but her styling is so bad, you forget that she?s a billionaire with access to the best fashion and style advice in the world. She?s like, ?no, my bangs are awesome and this necklace really goes with the dress,? and she could not have worse style instincts.
As for the interview, she was cute she talked about her cats briefly and how they were on tour with her, she talked about the engagement to Travis, she talked at length about how she doesn?t want a home recording studio because she likes her homes to be chill and peaceful. Colbert pressed her on her five favorite Swift songs and she couldn?t come up with a hard-and-fast top five on the fly, but she did say that ?All Too Well? is probably her #1. It was a good interview, honestly.

Taylor Swift was out last night in New York. She and her friend Este Haim went to Chez Marguax, one of several elite private clubs of which Taylor is a member. I actually thought this was Alana Haim, because damn, those Haim sisters look alike. But everyone swears it?s Este. Taylor?s look was appropriately wintery it?s been cold as fk this week on the East Coast and mid-Atlantic. Tay wore Louis Vuitton a $6,400 toggle coat and $2,370 boots. Crazy prices, but you?re paying for that visible Louis Vuitton patch on the coat. You could probably get something equally as cute for $60 at Burlington Coat Factory, but it wouldnt have the LV patch.
On Sunday, Taylor was in Kansas City, watching the Chiefs lose to the Houston Texans. As someone who doesn?t follow football whatsoever, it really feels like the Chiefs are having an exceptionally bad season. The Chiefs? next game is on Sunday, they?ll play the Chargers at Arrowhead. Will Taylor show up? Probably.
Incidentally, there?s a lot of sports-commentary chatter about the Chiefs? poor season and whether Travis Kelce will retire next year. There?s been chatter about Kelce?s retirement since the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl, to be fair. Stephen A. Smith told People Magazine: ?I think that you could see the handwriting thats on the wall. The guy is so talented and there are so many other things that he could do outside of football that now would be the time for him to step away. I will tell you that thats what I think hes going to do. Obviously he has a beautiful lady in his life, where theres a lot of good things for him to go home to. And so, because of that, I think the combination of all of those things. I sort of agree with this elite athletes dream of going out in a blaze of glory, and Travis clearly thought he had a chance to win one more Super Bowl, but maybe the signal for him to retire is the growing sense that he?s simply stayed too long. I don?t know! It?s up to him, but I?d hate to see him overstay his welcome like Tom Brady.

Taylor Swift has owned an apartment in New York for over a decade, and for much of that time, New York has been her base. She obviously has other homes, in Newport, LA and Nashville, but she loves New York. I think it?s really cute that she consistently wants the New York paparazzi to get full-length photos of her outfits too. It?s great for gossip blogs, fashion blogs and the press, and it happens so often, I have to believe that Taylor?s security has explicit instructions to let photographers get shots of her ensembles when she?s out and about.
So it was on Friday night, when Taylor went out to dinner with Sabrina Carpenter. They went to the Corner Store in Soho you can see the menu here, it sounds really good. Lots of steaks and seafood. Taylor?s shirt and skirt are from Thom Browne and I kind of hate those separates! The skirt is sort of interesting, but she probably should have paired it with a cream knit or something. Her purse is from The Row, and her platform heels are Gucci. The audacity of tall-ass Taylor wearing platform heels for dinner with SABRINA! Short-ass Sabrina, who is barely five feet tall. Earlier on Friday, the Recording Academy released the 2026 Grammy nominations. Taylor was SNUBBED! LOL, no, she wasn?t. The Life of a Showgirl came out after the 2025 eligibility period, so if Showgirl gets Grammy noms, it will be in 2027. Sabrina?s 2025 album, Man?s Best Friend, got six nominations including ROTY, SOTY, AOTY, best pop vocal album, best pop solo and best music video. Kendrick Lamar a Swift ally and friend picked up the most Grammy noms for his (spectacular) album GNX. Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish also picked up some significant nominations. I have my fingers crossed for Kendrick to sweep the major categories though. Taylor Swift has my sympathy in one particular area she has to try to keep up with Travis Kelce?s big-ass strides, and Taylor often has to do that in heels. So it was last night, where Taylor and Killa Trav were out in New York again last night, enjoying the Chiefs? bye week by partying and dining out in the city. Wednesday night, it was dinner at the Polo Bar. Last night, they went to Zero Bond for six hours (according to paparazzi and photo agencies). Zero Bond is a private club with restaurants and bars within the club Taylor is clearly a member, and she was just there with Gigi Hadid earlier this week. Zero Bond seems to be one of Taylor?s favorite places in NYC.
For last night?s outing, Taylor wore a Louis Vuitton knit top and miniskirt and Legacy boots. She carried a Coussin PM handbag. I want to talk about her choice in hosiery. I?m always excited when high-profile women try to bring back patterned hose or tights. While Taylor?s hose is technically ?fishnet,? the floral pattern adds some pizzazz. I actually love the way she put this outfit together the simplicity of the black top and skirt to showcase her choice in hosiery. I kind of wonder if Travis picked it out? As for Travis? a corduroy ?suit? in this shade of maroon/burgundy is sort of interesting too. He?s so big, I feel like everything has to be made for him, bespoke-style.
There was also some talk about how the Trump White House used Taylor?s ?The Fate of Ophelia? on their official TikTok, and apparently Taylor didn?t say anything or hasn?t said anything yet. Last year, Trump was retweeting AI photos of Taylor and she didn?t say anything for weeks, then she clapped back publicly. I?m just saying, Taylor and her lawyers are probably on top of it and just because she?s not saying something immediately, doesn?t mean that she?s okay with it.

This is the Kansas City Chiefs? bye week, so instead of sticking around Kansas City, Travis Kelce is in New York with his fiancee Taylor Swift. Last night, they went to dinner at the Polo Bar, which has a dress code! They don?t allow you to dine there if you?re wearing jeggings or sweats or hoodies. Which might explain why Taylor and Travis both wore trousers and sweaters. The menu at the Polo Bar looks great too. I wonder what they ordered.
This feels like their first New York outing in a while, right? I genuinely wonder if, once they?re married, they?ll end up settling down somewhere other than New York. Taylor loves her place in New York, but her NYC life can be so chaotic. They were swarmed by paparazzi and fans outside the restaurant and I?m sure Taylor?s security had a difficult time.
While I don?t pay super-close attention to football whatsoever, even I know that the Chiefs are in the middle of a pretty terrible season. On the New Heights podcast, Travis sort of admitted as much and he said he?s trying hard to shake it off. I really hope Chiefs fans don?t blame that sh-t on Taylor. Blame it on the MAGA Mahomes fam!!

Taylor Swift stepped out last night in NYC, her first pap stroll outing in months. She went to the Eighty Six, a steakhouse. Taylor really went underground following the Super Bowl, and while she has been out in New York this year, shes only been photographed very rarely. Taylors sending a message here: Im back! Talk about me! Her skirt is way too short, btw. But obviously, she loves autumn. She loves boots and cute sweaters. Well be seeing more of her like this in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Taylor released The Life of a Showgirl last Friday, to mixed reviews and a fanbase which seems to be growing more disenchanted by the year. There are discussions about Taylor ripping off other artists with little to no credit. There are discussions about Taylor?s problematic behavior towards other women in the industry. There?s the ?Opalite? discourse about the imagery and message she uses to discuss Travis Kelce?s Black ex-girlfriends (specifically Kayla Nicole). There?s also a discourse about Taylor?s romantic history, especially when she was an adult woman literally dating a kid in high school (Conor Kennedy). Anyway, you get the idea a lot of people are talking a lot about Taylor and her album, and there are ongoing critiques of the music and Taylor herself. Well, Taylor welcomes those discussions! At least that?s what she claimed on The Zane Lowe Show:
Taylor Swift shared her candid thoughts on the passionate range of reactions to ?The Life of a Showgirl.? She thanked the fans who ?immediately? got the album?s emotion and themes ? but she also had words for the critics. While appearing on Apple Music?s ?The Zane Lowe Show,? Swift said she ?welcomes the chaos? seeing that it?s a ?rule of show business?: ?If it?s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you?re helping. And art, I have a lot of respect for people?s subjective opinions on art. I?m not the art police. It?s like everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want. And what our goal is as entertainers is to be a mirror.?
The record has received mixed reviews from critics with some praise for its unabashed, joyful sound, while others criticize the lyrics for their perceived lack of depth.
?Oftentimes, an album is a really, really wild way to look at yourself,? Swift told Lowe. ?What you?re going through in your life is going to affect whether you relate to the music that I?m putting out at any given moment.?
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter also made a revealing statement about what empowers her to make music: ?We?re doing this thing for keeps. I have such an eye on legacy when I?m making my music. I know what I made. I know I adore it, and I know that on the theme of what the Showgirl is, all of this is part of it.?

Taylor talking about ?legacy? is wild. I expect an artist like Beyonce to talk about her artistic legacy, and working on legacy projects (which is exactly what the Renaissance trilogy is, a transcendent legacy project). But Taylor? She?s a 35-year-old who is still singing about high school and her fiance?s redwood dong. She?s still scrapping with pop girls and gaming the charts with variants (she?s released like 20 variants already, in like the past 72 hours). But she?s right, if people are talking about her, that?s good for sales and it means her promotion is working. It?s just that I don?t believe that Taylor has a que-sera-sera attitude about people critiquing her music or her celebrity persona.

Last year, when Taylor Swift released The Tortured Poets Department, she really didn?t do much dedicated press or media for the album or the singles. It was a Beyonce-esque move, a power move to say that she doesn?t need to hustle her album for it to be successful. So what do we make of Taylor?s promotional tour for The Life of a Showgirl? She?s been on a tour of British radio stations, she?s been doing TikTok dances and last night, she made her first appearance on the Tonight Show in years and years. Jimmy Fallon obviously didn?t ask Taylor any hard questions, because he knows how to stay on Taylor?s good side. He did ask her about the Super Bowl and whether she has been offered the Halftime headliner gig before. She said something really interesting about Roc Nation and Jay-Z.
Taylor Swift, 35, appeared on the Monday, Oct. 6 episode of The Tonight Show for a conversation with host Jimmy Fallon, where the pair went through a list of rumors, with Swift confirming or denying them. One of the revelations from Swifts appearance was her explanation for why she will not do the Super Bowl halftime show. When asked by Fallon about the rumor that [shes] turned down the Super Bowl because of performance footage,' Swift replied No.
She then launched into a lengthy explanation. Heres the thing, she began. Jay Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say how does she feel about and thats not an official offer or a conference room conversation. Were always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field.
Swift reflected on how stressful it is to watch her fianc Travis Kelce play on the field ? and how that plays into her consideration of potentially doing the halftime show. That is violent chess, Swift said. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous. The whole season I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if hes out there every single week putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and Im like, I wonder what my choreo should be. I think we should do two verses of Shake it Off into Blank Space into Cruel Summer would be great.'
The music star clarified, This is nothing to do with Travis, he would love for me to do it. Im just too locked in.
During the segment where Swift debunked rumors, she was also asked if she joked to Selena Gomez on the actress wedding day, Hey you beat me to the altar. Swift shared that the answer is another no. I got to see her be the most elegant, gorgeous ? not only bride but just ? vision that Ive ever seen in my life. Ive never seen anything so beautiful as her on her wedding day, she said of Gomezs Sept. 27 wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.
And she deserves all of this happiness. Benny is so funny. Hes the best. I did make a speech. But I actually made a point not to mention anything about my engagement. No one wants you to be like, Hey, I know this is your wedding day but?' with a raised hand showing off her ring. I was like, Dont mention it.'

People always forget, and Swifties always forget that Taylor is legitimately really close to Beyonce and Jay-Z. They?ve all been close for many years. Still, I?m surprised by Taylor?s description of her team?s closeness to Roc Nation. We didn?t know until now that Rox Nation, who produces the Halftime show, has periodically gone to Taylor to take her temperature about the Halftime show. That?s interesting. Taylor Swift?s The Life of a Showgirl is out now. The good news is that Taylor is a stand-alone industry and a monoculture, which means that everyone has an opinion on her life and her music. On Thursday, leaks of TLOAS were being widely circulated online, and the Swifties were already in the trenches and fighting with everyone. The thing is, 90% of the music industry is in awe of Taylor and fearful of her enormous power. Which probably explains why even though early listeners of TLOAS are disappointed, the mainstream media?s reviews of the album are glowing and extremely positive. Variety and Rolling Stone led the way in praising the album and calling it yet another perfect classic. The Guardian?s critic was more honest, and this is the review getting much more play, some highlights:
There are albums for which vast success seems preordained, and then there is The Life of a Showgirl. The podcast on which Taylor Swift announced the release of her 12th studio album ? her fiance Travis Kelce?s ordinarily sports-focused New Heights ? garnered half a billion views, breaking a record set by Donald Trump?s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in the process. A ?launch event? film, featuring the kind of lyric videos and backstage footage that anyone else would release on YouTube, is instead set for a theatrical release in more than 100 countries: in the US alone, it sold $15m worth of tickets in 24 hours. The album itself has been pre-saved more than 5m times on Spotify, breaking another record in the process. ?I?m immortal now,? Swift sings on the title track, which seems less like an extravagant boast than a statement of fact.
In contrast to last year?s The Tortured Poets Department ? which by the time she?d finished releasing expanded editions and bonus tracks, was nearly two and half hours long ? it offers a crisp 12 songs in 40 minutes. Her recent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner are nowhere to be seen. Swift made The Life of a Showgirl in between Eras dates with Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish duo who co-wrote and produced her most forthright pop bangers of the 2010s: Shake It Off, Blank Space, Don?t Blame Me, Bad Blood.
But anyone anticipating something similar from Showgirl is in for a shock: the fizzing electronic pop of Reputation and 1989 is conspicuously absent. Instead, its primary currency is breezy, easy-on-the-ear soft rock: acoustic guitars, misty synth tones, subtle orchestrations and breathy backing vocals. Wood?s laid-back take on disco recalls not the sweaty hedonism of the dancefloor but the late 70s moment where four-to-floor rhythms and chicken-scratch guitar temporarily invaded the oeuvres of west coast singer-songwriters.
More startling still is the distinct lack of undeniable hooks and nailed-on melodies. The songs are well turned, but in terms of genuinely memorable moments, Showgirl evinces just one killer chorus (Elizabeth Taylor), some impressively unexpected key changes on Wi$h Li$t and the authentically heart-tugging Ruin the Friendship, which finds Swift returning to her home town for the funeral of a high school boy she regrets not dating. There?s a fantastic chord sequence on Actually Romantic, but, alas, 37 years ago Frank Black wrote a very similar one for Where Is My Mind? by Pixies, a song you can literally sing along to Actually Romantic. The rest floats in one ear and out the other: not unpleasantly, but you might reasonably expect more given the amassed songwriting firepower behind it, and Swift?s claims of ?keeping the bar really high?.
Cancelled! deals with the Kim-and-Kanye-adjacent controversies that beset Swift in 2015 and 2016, and Father Figure concerns former label boss Scott Borchetta, both in needless-to-say-I-had-the-last-laugh style. There are some spiky lines here and there ? ?you made a deal with this devil / turns out my dick?s bigger? snaps Father Figure ? but they don?t really click. Perhaps that?s because Cancelled! and Father Figure revisit very well-trodden ground, while eviscerating a rival when you?re the world?s most successful pop star is, by default, punching down, even if she did apparently call you ?boring Barbie? behind your back.
Then there?s Wood, a song that, metaphorically speaking, drunkenly clambers on a table in Wetherspoons pub with a skew-whiff bridal veil on its head and an L-plate around its neck and favours everyone in earshot with a loud paean to the size of her fiance?s penis, which it variously describes as his ?magic wand?, his ?redwood tree? and his ?hard rock? (there is also a regrettable degree of punning on the word ?cocky?). Of course, Swift is perfectly entitled to write about whatever she wants, TMI or not, but there?s no escaping the fact that comparing her partner?s knob to a magic wand constitutes weak writing from someone who made her name, at least in part, by being a sharper, wittier, more incisive lyricist than her peers.
In fairness, Wood is one clanging misstep on an album that isn?t terrible: it?s just nowhere near as good as it should be given Swift?s talents, and it leaves you wondering why. Perhaps romantic contentment simply writes whiter than vengeful post-breakup bitterness, or perhaps it wobbles your judgment. Perhaps it was rushed. Or perhaps its author was just exhausted, which would be entirely understandable. Even the immortal, it seems, sometimes need to take a break from pop?s constant churn and unceasing clamour for content.

The fact that it?s not full of more revved-up songs is what surprised me, given the name of the album and Taylor?s return to working with Max Martin and Shellback. I was expecting upbeat pop bangers, and not? this. I also don?t understand Taylor?s need to churn out albums every year, especially when it certainly feels like she?s running out of good material. That?s the larger point though Taylor?s in such rarefied air, she believes/knows that her fans will buy every single song, every album, every variant she sells, regardless of quality. Every artist makes dumb songs very few artists release all of their dumb songs because they feel the need to churn out an annual album. Did you guys know that both Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are Virgos? That?s so interesting to me, you rarely see dual-Virgo marriages out in the wild, especially among celebrities. Brittany?s birthday is August 31, and Patrick?s b-day is September 17th. Taylor Swift went to some of Brittany?s b-day festivities in Nashville several weeks ago, and now it appears that Taylor went to a smallish birthday party for Patrick. This party happened on Sunday night, after the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Country singer Kane Brown was there, and he posted a photo of the Mahomeses along with Travis Kelce and Taylor. This was the only sighting of Taylor on Sunday, because even though she attended the Chiefs game, she hid behind a barrier on her way to the VIP box, and she also hid from broadcasters during the game. TMZ now says that Taylor hid away because of security issues, which is what I figured.
Taylor Swift snuck into a football stadium to watch her fianc Travis Kelce at work and it looks like she used a bullet-resistant portable shield to evade detection following Charlie Kirks very public murder. Swifties are running with an interesting theory online after Taylor kept an extremely low profile at Sundays game between Travis Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles her fans think she was behind a bulletproof barrier that was seen rolling through the bowels of Arrowhead Stadium in K.C.
We did some digging and it seems the barrier being used here is a bullet-resistant portable shield partition that retails for about $6,000.
Taylor usually makes high-profile arrivals to Arrowhead to watch Travis play with tons of video typically showing her making her way to her suite. That didnt happen Sunday and its unclear why she seemingly felt the need to sneak in behind a protective barrier. It will be interesting to see if Taylor keeps this up the screen may be bad luck though the Chiefs lost, 20-17, to drop to 0-2 on the season.

This isn?t the first time that Taylor?s security has had to turn on a dime because of some larger national issue. During her Eras Tour, she had to cancel her Vienna concerts because of a terrorist plot. The past week has been absolutely insane, and I would assume that Taylor?s private security is being inundated with credible threats. I actually wonder if Taylor is going to make a point of skipping Chiefs games for a little while, at least until things cool down.
