One of the great things about the Netflix Beckham docuseries is that it introduced David Beckham?s soccer/football career to a new audience. Before I watched the series, I honestly didn?t ?get? why Beckham had such a major career. Yes, he never won the World Cup, but he captained Team England for six years and made a historic number of appearances playing for his country. His achievements at Manchester were crazy, and he won La Liga at Real Madrid. All told, he won 19 major titles/trophies. Truly, a historic career, and off the pitch, he is still a global ambassador for football and one of the richest athletes of all time. Which is probably why the Windsors have always punished him and refused to ?give? him a knighthood he?s too famous, too rich, too successful. Those sadists have to withhold something from him. Well, according to the Daily Mail, the Windsors were withholding the knighthood because of Beckham?s closeness to Prince Harry. And now David has ?severed ties? with Harry, so King Charles has granted David an audience.
David Beckham has accepted an invitation from the King to attend a dinner after severing ties with Prince Harry. The former England star is dining with Charles to talk about the possibility of him becoming an ambassador for The Princes Foundation, a charity founded by the King in order to help provide skills to young people.
Mr Beckham has previously held a similar role representing Invictus Games, the multi-sport competition for sick and injured servicemen and women founded by Prince Harry in 2014. But the ex-footballer has since distanced himself from the Duke of Sussex after he and wife Meghan relocated to the US and stepped back as senior royals in 2020.
Sources close to Mr Beckham say that he is hoping for a honour such as a knighthood, the Sun reported. He was awarded an OBE back in June 2003 for services to football. More recently in 2017, his wife Victoria received the same honour for her contribution to fashion.
The 48-year-olds chances of being knighted were previously blighted after he was one of 1,000 people caught up in the scandal involving Ingenious films, including former teammate Wayne Rooney, who all lost their case to overturn a 700million bill of avoided tax in 2017.
Its possible that Mr Beckham will meet King Charles at the Foundations base, Dumfries House, in east Ayrshire, Scotland. A source suggested that the meeting would be an opportunity for the King to suss out Mr Beckham and find out in what areas they could work together.

Where is the evidence that Becks has severed ties with Harry? In September, Harry turned up at the Inter Miami game in LA, reportedly because Harry always wanted to see Leo Messi play (Messi plays for Miami). While there were no photos of Harry and David together, it would be hard to believe that Harry would have made a point of going to the game without speaking to David. That being said, I?ve gotten the feeling for months now that Prince William has been throwing tantrums about and to David Beckham and that William is the one who made this into a ?you can?t be friends with Harry? situation. It?s just so stupid and small.

I was in my 30s before I really understood that the British class system is vastly different from the American class system. In America, class is determined by money more than anything else, and you can be born in one class and move to another through work, education, marriage and/or money. In Britain, you?re born and you?ll die in the same class, regardless of what happens in between, regardless of who you marry or what money you make. The idea of ?middle class? is vastly different too in America, ?middle class? means families who, like, own a home, live in the suburbs, at least one parent has a college degree and enough income to live somewhat comfortably. In Britain, that same family would easily be called ?working class.?
The difference in class systems and how they?re viewed is on display in Netflix?s Beckham docuseries. Within Britain, Victoria and David Beckham are both viewed (and they view themselves) as coming from working-class backgrounds. But David called out Victoria on-camera in what is becoming THE viral clip from the series:

Last Summer, David Beckham announced he was partnering with Netflix to put together a documentary series on his life and career. I get a little tired of some things Beckham, but not David?s career and the impact he had on the sport, so this is something I?m inclined to watch. A recent article in The Guardian covering his new series discussed David?s OCD, which I didn?t know he had. The series detailed David staying up after the family goes to bed to clean up after everyone. He doesnt just fluff the pillows and make sure the sink?s empty, but specifically cleans the candle wax, which is his particular bte noire.
David Beckham is opening up about the tiring ways his obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) affects his family.
In an upcoming Netflix documentary chronicling the soccer stars career, the Guardian reported that Beckham, 47, said he stays up hours after his family sleeps to clean detailed parts of their home.
The fact that when everyones in bed, I then go around, clean the candles, turn the lights on to the right setting, make sure everywhere is tidy. I hate coming down in the morning and theres cups and plates and, you know, bowls, Beckham said, per the outlet.
Beckham revealed that his pet hate is lingering candle wax. I clip the candle wax, I clean the glass, thats my pet hate, the smoke around the inside of a candle, he shared. I know, its weird.
According to the Guardian, Beckham pondered whether or not his wife Victoria appreciates the results of his disorder.

The outlet reported that Victoria, 49, told the production crew that her husband is appreciated and just so perfect after the athlete shared his concern.
Beckham also said he feels compelled to do the tedious chores, despite how tiring they can be for him.

I find David?s admission interesting. I remember when Jerry Rice talked about his incredibly strict pre-game ritual. No one talked about OCD back then, we all just chalked it up to superstition. But given Rice?s discipline and his comments about fear-based decisions, I wouldn?t be surprised to learn he also had OCD. The discipline OCD demands lends itself to certain professions, like sports. It is, however, exhausting, like David said. Not just physically because the body can?t rest until everything has been seen to, but mentally because the mind won?t let go unless it knows everything is in order. I swear I?m not being shady but it would behoove David to downsize from his huge estate if he has to canvas it every night to make sure it?s tidied up. And maybe just leave the candles for birthdays? Candle wax is a b*tch.
I was a little surprised to read David didn?t think Victoria appreciated his efforts. I have OCD tendencies, so not as pronounced, but my issues mostly just affect me. Maybe Victoria wants David to come to bed sooner than he does, or he?s listless during the day because of his nocturnal cleaning. It wouldn?t be because he?s keeping the house in order, certainly. If anything that made him sexier in my mind. But I?m glad Victoria set the record straight. I?m sure David is not perfect, but he shouldn?t be dinged for his OCD.

In March, it felt like the pandemic learning curve was pretty steep for most people. What was socially acceptable on March 5th was completely unacceptable by March 25th. We learned so much in such a short time. All of which to say, I can sort of understand how people were partying and acting like nothing was wrong in the first week of March. We were so innocent then. David and Victoria Beckham weren?t paying attention to the pandemic around that time as well. Their son Brooklyn Beckham turned 21 on March 4, and the Beckhams had a big party in the UK for his birthday. In the days before that, Victoria and David were in Miami for some massive parties for David?s Miami football club. So? yeah, turns out that David and Victoria caught Covid around then, and Victoria feared they were early ?super-spreaders.?
David and Victoria Beckham secretly battled coronavirus after catching it schmoozing in the States. Several relatives and staff members also came down with the killer bug following the launch of Becks? new football club. Victoria, 46, feared they may be ?super-spreaders? after flying back to the UK for son Brooklyn?s 21st birthday do, with guests such as Stormzy and Emma Bunton. Tests later confirmed the couple?s Covid diagnosis.
Last night a friend said: ?It was an absolute nightmare scenario. David was on duty for his club Inter Miami, and Victoria and the family flew down to support him. They attended a couple of swanky networking events as David had promotional duties, and were shaking hands and kissing fans and various club dignitaries. They then flew back to London, and were whisked straight to their Cotswolds mansion.?
The source said the couple celebrated Brooklyn?s 21st before a short trip back to the States, this time to Miami. When they returned, the source went on, ?David started to feel ill and then Victoria developed a sore throat and high temperature. At the same time, several of their team including drivers, bodyguards and assistants fell ill ? a couple of them very badly so. Victoria really panicked and made the whole family quarantine rigidly for more than two weeks. She was utterly petrified they might be super-spreaders, and did all she could to minimize all future risk. Not only was she poorly in bed, she was also completely panicked. It was a rough few weeks.?
After making full recoveries, Posh and 45-year-old Becks checked in regularly with their team. They are understood to have sent ?care packages? to at least two staff members who were particularly badly affected.
The couple spent the entire summer holed up in their country manor ? complete with swimming pool, football pitch and hot tub ? and declined several party invites. They later had swab and antibody tests before holidaying in Greece and Italy to ensure they were safe to travel. The pair also canceled middle son Romeo?s planned 18th birthday last weekend over fears they would break social distancing rules. Their nightmare COVID ordeal is believed to have begun on March 1, when Becks? Inter Miami side played their first game away at Los Angeles FC.

I mean? considering all of the back-and-forth traveling, I?m struggling to understand why everyone believes that Posh and Becks absolutely caught the virus in Miami. In the first week of March, they were mingling and partying with everyone in the UK AND America. It?s pretty likely they caught it in America, sure, but it?s also clear that they didn?t take any of the pandemic talk seriously until they started feeling like sh-t. Anyway, I?m glad everyone involved in the Beckham household and support staff is feeling better.

Singer/Actress Selena Gomez and comedienne/actress Amy Schumer both have cooking show deals. Neither Selena nor Amy know how to cook, so we get to watch them being taught. Riveting. Next up for the ?Really? Them? cooking show hosts will be: Soccer legend David Beckham. According to The Sun (the tabloid, not the one that rises and sets on David), lockdown has reignited a love of baking for Davey B and he received a large number of pots and pans for his birthday. Already David is more qualified to have a cooking show than Selena or Amy so of course, the BBC and Netflix will give him his own show.

Keen baker Becks has developed a format after joining best pal Gordon Ramsay?s Instagram Live cook-alongs.
He is in talks with the BBC and Netflix over the proposed interactive format, to be developed by his company Studio 99.
Former England skipper Becks, 45, is said to be cooking almost daily in lockdown with daughter Harper, eight.
A source said: ?One of the unintended benefits of lockdown for David has been the opportunity to do what he loves most baking.
?He?s been recreating some of his mum?s old recipes, and got a load of pots and pans for his birthday recently.
?David?s also used this time to really focus on Studio 99, and initially chatted to Gordon about the pair doing an Instagram Live.
?He?s seen how well Gordon has done with his own cookery shows and his Studio Ramsay production company, and Gordon?s given him some great advice.?

Who are David and Harper cooking for? Victoria only looks longingly at food and then burns any ?sight calories? off by pushing it around the plate. Not to mention this reasoning, ?Gordon has done with his own cookery shows?? Gordon was mentored by Marco Pierre White, Guy Savoy and Jol Robuchon, that?s slightly more credentials than David dusting off Gran?s Victoria sponge cake recipe.
However, I do kind of like David, so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I watched this cook-off with Gordon in which Laila Ali selected the winner:
I misjudged David, he does seem to know his way around a kitchen. Considering I prefer a pea puree over seafood in my risotto, I would have likely voted for his. However, David mentioned in the video, ?I prefer a quieter kitchen,? which does not make for a very good cooking segment. The commercials for his show will be terrible: ?Watch footballer David Beckham cook stuff. We won?t know what, because he doesn?t say anything, but the food ? and the cook ? sure are pretty.? Or maybe David just likes ?quiet kitchens? when Gordon is in them.
However, the truly important part of this story is how the underground tunnel factors into it. Will David have to hide his ingredients because Victoria wontlet anything other than wax fruit into the house? Will David trek down to the wine cave to select some incredible vintage to serve with his Toad in the Hole? Will wafts of his Lancashire Hotpot* be piped through the tunnel to taunt his neighbors? Or will the local pub be on call to smuggle in their famous Fish Pie when David?s efforts go tits up? What I?m saying is, I?d rather have a reality show based on The Beckham Tunnel than the Beckham kitchen.
*I have made myself so hungry writing this stupid post.

I feel very next-level hipster because I?m not attached to my cellphone at all. I just don?t see a need for it personally I still consider my cell to be ?for emergencies? and for occasional use for my job. And I absolutely never use my cell while driving. I cannot stand it when I see other drivers just full on driving with one hand on their phone, either texting or talking. It?s so dangerous and so fking unnecessary, my God. I?m happy that so many states and cities are passing laws and cracking down on drivers using cellphones. And I?m glad that they got such a high-profile celebrity in the dragnet:
David Beckham has been disqualified from driving for six months for using his mobile phone while at the wheel. The ex-footballer, 43, was spotted by a member of the public using his phone while driving in Great Portland Street, on 21 November last year. He pleaded guilty.
He was also given six points on his licence. Beckham was originally to be dealt with using the new single justice procedure, an administrative process not open to the press or public.

Sky News goes on from there, talking about the legal issues involved in Beckham?s case, but the general information is that Beckham was using his cellphone while driving and now he?s got a six-months suspended license for it. But that?s just in Britain he spends much of his time in Miami these days, where I imagine he has an American driver?s license, don?t you? So he?s probably still driving here in the States.

Get your tissues ready because I lucked out in being the one to deliver your Good News Morsel today. David Beckham is a tireless advocate for children all over the world. His charities range from buying mobility devices for disabled kids, to fighting HIV, to protecting children against violence. Last year, he celebrated a decade of ambassadorship with Unicef by partnering with them to found his 7 fund, advocating for children in seven countries for seven different initiatives. Recently, Becks travelled to Africa to see for himself how effective the charity has been and what can still be done.
Proving once again that he’s more than just a pretty face, David Beckham recently traveled to Africa to visit children living with HIV, who are receiving support from his charity 7 and UNICEF.
The longtime Goodwill Ambassador shared a sweet photo from his visit, in which he’s sitting and smiling with a young boy in his village.
“Had an inspiring time in Swaziland with @unicef,” Beckham wrote in the caption. “To see how how my 7 Fund is supporting children living with HIV.”
Beckham launched 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund last year to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable children by focusing on seven different countries and seven different initiatives. The name of the charity is a nod to Beckham’s lucky number on his football shirts as well as for his and wife Victoria Beckham’s daughter Harper Beckham, whose middle name is Seven.

I realize Becks is not a saint but I adore him; I am not sure what that says about me. He may not be top of his class but he is an amazingly talented person and has used that fame to do a lot of good. As Kaiser reminded me, when he travels for Unicef, Becks? one request is that he be allowed time to play some ball with the local kids; like in 2008 on his Sierra Leone trip when he asked the driver to pull over so he could join a pick up match he spotted while driving. In the video, just look at their reaction to him and his reaction to their ardor; he never stops smiling.
I have mentioned before when I fell in love with Becks, when I saw the video of him surprising fans at the 2012 Olympics. The way I see him is he understands the impact he had on people when he was a football god. Even though his talent earned him his fans, he never seems anything less than humbled by their enthusiastic reception of him.
And Christ on a Cracker he is still excruciatingly hot.

While David Beckham has never made my Top-Ten Crushes, I?ve always sort of liked him. I like him even more these days, as we get to see him more as a retired athlete, doting father and humanitarian. People always say that he?s incredibly nice in real life, and that makes him more attractive, doesn?t it? Anyway, Becks covers the April issue of GQ. This is his first-ever cover shoot for the American edition of GQ ? he?s obviously covered British and international editions of GQ loads of times. The shoot is nice, and the early excerpts from the interview are pretty nice too. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
How he feels about the tabloids: ?I?m secure as a person, as a husband, as a dad. I?ve gone past the point of really worrying, caring.?
Life as a retired athlete: ?I get physically ill when I have to leave the kids now,? he says. When he?s not out and about, he says, you can find him watching Frozen with his daughter, Harper, for the hundredth time or bingeing on Friends reruns.
On the cries of ‘nepotism’ when Brooklyn got a photographer’s gig: “We?ve always protected our children, but we?ve always been honest with them, as well: There are going to be things said about you, about us, that aren?t true. Brooklyn is 16 coming on 17, and we know he?ll have opportunities because of us. But he?s making opportunities for himself, too. So far we?ve been very lucky that he?s found a passion. Whether people believe it or not, he?s got talent. He?s got a great eye??and proven that in the images he?s taken.?
He does miss soccer: ?I miss soccer every day. I don?t know whether it?s the athlete in me, or the passion I have for the game: I always think that I can step back on the field and play… It was always going to be difficult, no matter what I?d set up, no matter how many children I have got to take my mind off things. There was always going to be a moment when I finished playing, that I was going to find tough. Um, it wasn?t straightaway, but I had a three-week spell when I was really struggling? You know, maybe I could play another year in the U.S. If I was still living in L.A., I?d probably really seriously think about coming back for a year. But we?re living in London, and the kids are happy in the school…?

I think Beckham is pretty much where Roger Federer will be in another few years ? meaning the mind is willing, but the body just isn?t up to par at this point. That?s not a slam on either man ? it actually breaks my heart every time Federer makes it to the finals only to be crushed by Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray, because Federer truly loves the game and even when he?s losing, you can just tell that he?s where he wants to be. It also breaks my heart a little bit when Becks talks about missing being on the field, because you know he would love to still be involved in some way. I kind of think he should be looking for a management or coaching position ? it?s not as glamorous as being an international celebrity/retired football icon, but his heart is still in soccer/football, so why not coach?
Also: Becks endlessly watching Frozen with Harper? Come on, that made you smile, didn?t it?

This may sound like a dated perspective, but I believe most/many men have strong feelings about women?s hair, and of those men, most of them prefer long hair. I?m not saying a dude is going to divorce you or cheat on you if you have a pixie cut, I?m just saying that if you ask the average straight dude, they?re probably going to say that they prefer long hair on a woman. So, take a gander of this photo (above) of David Beckham and his daughter Harper from a month ago. You can see that Harper?s hair is basically to her waist. That?s because David has put his foot down and refused to allow Posh to cut Harper?s hair. Ever. Harper?s never had a haircut?
Speaking to Yahoo! Style, David Beckham explained: ‘About a year ago, my wife said, “Maybe we should cut Harper’s hair.” And I was like, “No! We need to grow it. Do. Not. Touch.” Since she was born, we haven’t cut it. That’s why it’s pretty much down to her knees.’
David, whose mother Sandra was a hairdresser, also revealed that he sometimes tests his own skills by giving his three sons home buzz cuts, but he wouldn’t dare go near the scissors: ?If I have to use scissors, the boys know not to ask – [my mum] never taught me how to do that.?

I know we?ve already talked about creepy mummy?s boys today, but here?s another version: my late father always had strong views about me keeping my hair long too. He hated it when I cut my hair above my shoulders in college. So, I guess I associate Beckham?s thing with a completely natural dad thing. Dads like their daughters to have long hair. Right? Or is it weird?
In previous interviews, Becks made hearts melt by saying: ?To have a daughter is a whole different story. I’m not saying I love my daughter more, but the boys are independent.? Yeah, he?s not going to say he loves his daughter more, but he totally loves his daughter more. He also says that he?s not ever going to allow Harper to date and she?s going to be ?like Rapunzel – up in the tower.?
