It was a scary scene at the Houston Grand Prix on Sunday (October 6) when Dario Franchitti's race car went airborne in a horrific crash.
Several spectators and the driver himself were taken to the hospital where his wife Ashley Judd rushed to his side.
As the 40-year-old driver received treatment for a spinal fracture, broken ankle, and concussion, the "Double Jeopardy" star tweeted, "Thank you for the prayers for @dariofranchitti I have only clothes on my back & the dogs but that's all that we need & we are on our way."
The couple previously announced their decision to split back in January, but it seems they have reunited in the face of tragedy as Ashley added, "Amazed by the incredible outpouring of care & prayers. Thanks, everyone. Keeping our heads down here & doing what's in front of us to do."

Even though I have mucho disdain for Reese Witherspoon as an American Citizen Standing On American Ground a person these days, I kind of love the way she?s been dressing lately. I don?t feel bad about looking at paparazzi photos of her either ? Reese clearly wants to be photographed out and about in LA, and as such she models some very cute casual clothes. I especially like the green v-neck she wore for an outing to Right Start ? to pick up baby stuff, I guess. Because ladies love to go shopping in three-inch heels.
Late last week, Reese signed on to a new movie. It is? a romantic-comedy. SHOCKING. It also has a fairy tale theme, because of course it does. The only films being made these days are about fairy tales or comic books.
Disney is taking a comedic look at the fairy-tale genre. The studio has picked up Happily Ever After, a pitch from Nahnatchka Khan, the creator of Don?t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, that has Reese Witherspoon attached to star.
Witherspoon is also on board to produce with her Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea. John Jacobs of Smart Entertainment is also producing.
The idea is to catch up with a prince and princess about 10 years after they have ridden off into the sunset for their “happily ever after.” The couple discovers that even in fairy-tale land, you have to work to keep your relationship and your life together.
The idea for it was generated by at Smart Entertainment?s head of production, Zac Unterman. Jacobs and Unterman approached Khan with the idea; they knew the writer from working on American Dad for many years. The three developed together into a great pitch, which they then took to Witherspoon. After some more honing, they then took it to Burr and Westerman who sparked to it and set the project up. Unterman will act as an exec producer.
Happily brings Witherspoon back into the fold of the studio that made her 2002 hit romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama. The actress is in pre-production on Wild, Fox Searchlight?s adaptation of the Cheryl Strayed memoir. (Witherspoon is starring and producing via Pacific Standard the Jean-Marc Vallee drama.)

I was going to say that Reese is 37 years old, and maybe it?s time to forgo the pitch meetings when the pitch involves anything about being a fairy tale princess in a romantic comedy? but then I remembered that some actresses are still beating the dead rom-com horse well into their 40s, so what do I know? This seems like the kind of movie that Amy Adams would have passed on, right? And Drew Barrymore too. Still, I guess Reese needs the money. Her liquor bills are getting out of control.

Miley Cyrus hosted this weekend’s episode of SNL. The leadup to this episode included claims that Miley was preparing to “shock and awe“. She was supposedly going to go after Sinead O’Connor and make fun of her breakup with Liam Hemsworth. Larry Rudolph is undoubtedly the one who put it out there how Lorne Michaels had to rein in many of Miley’s suggestions for raunchy skits.
In the end, Miley’s episode was obnoxious but pretty tame and not funny at all. It was essentially a typical SNL evening. The official tongue count was 16.5 appearances. No twerking happened (“Now that white people are doing it, it seems kind of lame). The musical performances were okay, and the skits fell flat. Of course Miley tweeted some after party and backstage pics.
Here’s the backstage cold open where old Miley warns new Miley that her VMA act is too much. Jailhouse Robin Thicke is kind of funny. Two Mileys at once were not.
Miley’s self-indulgent monologue was decent. She mentions the VMA controversy and announces how Hannah Montanna “was murdered.”
The “We Did Stop” parody was actually kind of funny. Miley pretended to be a lusty Michele Bachmann, and the wig looks really cute on Miley.
The skits where Miley played a little hip hop girl and a prospective Anastasia Steele were terrible. In fact, all of the skits that Miley did were awful. I’d blame the writers, but Miley was bragging about all of her input, so it’s definitely her fault. I’m sure Miley was up for this “adult film” skit because it pokes fun at what people think she’ll do next.
The acoustic rendition of “We Can’t Stop” wasn’t bad. I’m glad she didn’t bring out the rainbows and twerking little people.
Miley also performed “Wrecking Ball.” I guarantee you won’t be watching the whole clip because she’s not naked.

Over the summer, Christina Aguilera debuted her new figure at the NBC Upfronts, while she promoted her return to The Voice. Incidentally, did anyone really miss her from The Voice? It was my understanding that most people watch The Voice for Blake Shelton, and that viewers really liked Shakira. Anyway, Christina debuted her new, slimmer figure and everybody talked about how great she looked and every interview Christina has given since then has been the same old inanities about how she loves sex, she?s super-sexy and powerful and empowered and sexy and she loves sex.
But I still have some questions about Christina?s weight loss. For a while there, her weight gain was significant and even a few months before her ?new body debut,? Christina still seemed to be carrying significant booze weight (so many empty calories!). Back in July, I theorized that she had lap-band surgery, although many of you yelled at me and told me she wasn?t big enough for lap-band to start with (I disagree). Now Radar is getting in on the theorizin?.
Now that is beautiful! Christina Aguilera is back in the red chair on the Voice looking spectacular with her super slimmed down figure, which two top doctors estimate to RadarOnline.com is an extreme 80 pound weight loss that may have been achieved by a drastic diet and plastic surgery!
The 32-year-old former Mouseketeer had struggled with her weight for the last few years, weathering difficult criticism including claims that she was pregnant because of extra pounds, but she?s shed the weight from exactly a year ago and is rocking a much slimmer frame lately.
?I think she was 165 to 170 and now is a perfect 110 to 115,? Dr. Fred Pescatore, who has not treated Christina, told RadarOnline.com about the 5?2? star.
The ?Dirrty? singer has been happily flaunting her lithe figure and told Redbook magazine that she doesn?t always make hitting the gym a priority.
?If I have to choose between working out and spending time with my son after a hard day, it?s not even a question,? she said in the November issue of the magazine.
One way that Xtina may have been able to slim down is by going under the knife.
?The only surgery she may have had is a breast lift because if you notice, they reduced in size perfectly which could happen but is unlikely,? Dr. Pescatore, nutritionist and author of The Hamptons Diet, told RadarOnline.com.
According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Lance Wyatt, who also has not treated Christina, extreme weight loss is possible in under a year.
?In 10 months, patients may lose up to as much as 80 lbs or more with aggressive diet, exercise, diet pills, and/or bariatric surgery,? he told RadarOnline.com. ?Looks like Christina may have had liposuction of her body and/or tummy tuck for flatter abdomen and more narrow waistline.?
?Her face seems a little thinner but not much, again probably weight loss by natural or surgical means.?

Yeah, these are just theories. No one knows for sure. I?m willing to admit I might be wrong about lap-band, but I stand by my opinion that whatever happened with Christina, it wasn?t all-natural diet and exercise. I do hope that she isn?t boozing so heavily these days, and if she has cut down her alcohol intake, that probably DID de-bloat her to a significant degree. But the rest of it? I could totally see lipo or a tummy tuck. And I thought Christina had gotten implants years and years ago? Maybe she went in and got some new, smaller implants plus a breast lift or something. That?s my theory.

Bethenny Frankel talked smack about her ex, Jason Hoppy, yet again during one of her recent talkshows. She’s previously trashed him for staying put in their NY apartment, when she’s the one with means and could easily find other accommodations. She’s also complained several times about how hard divorce is. I don’t begrudge her an opinion on what she’s going through, but she’s a public person and should keep it under wraps. In her latest remarks, Bethenny said that her ex, Jason, wasn’t the love of her life and that she’s really pining for another guy but has learned to live with it:

Frankel and Hoppy, who have a daughter, Bryn Hoppy, have been unable to privately settle their differences. Their ongoing legal battle is now likely headed to trial.

I’ve actually heard this before. I’ve heard someone call another guy she’s known for years, a married guy, the love of her life. In my opinion, if you’re not with that person or you weren’t with them for a significant amount of time, you cannot judge if they’re the love of your life. Does this sound dismissive of someone’s feelings? Maybe it is, but I also think a lot of women idealize relationships they can’t have. It’s easy to say that your ex sucks after you put up with his sh*t for years, you know him. If you have a guy friend or an occasional lover that you’ve never spent large amounts of time with, how can you consider them the love of your life? They’ve never committed to you. You’re never dealt with life’s problems together.
Oh and I think Bethenny is talking about that billionaire guy she keeps going on vacation with, Warren Lichtenstein. She’s denied that they’re anything more than friends, citing their 20 year friendship, but I think that she’d definitely like a piece of his wealth.
Radar has another story about how Bethenny’s talkshow is getting trounced in the ratings by Queen Latifah. Bethenny’s ratings aren’t rock-bottom like Kris Jenner’s probably-canceled show, though. She just has some fierce competition.

These are photos of Jennifer Lopez on Saturday evening at the HRC dinner in DC where she received the “Ally for Equality” award. Who the hell knows what’s going on in Washington these days, but Joe Biden did cancel his speech at the ceremony due to the government shutdown. Jennifer is wearing a burgundy Zuhair Muhad dress, which looks pretty tacky to me. In other words, this is a total JLo dress. With all of the sheer fabric at work, I’m amazed she’s not showing more cleave than she is. Her face looks different too, right? I don’t know if it’s the makeup job, but Jennifer is looking a lot like Minka Kelly in these pics.
Now let’s talk about this award. Human Rights Campaign is an LGBT rights group. It differs from Human Rights Watch, which focuses on global human rights and injustices. I was a bit confused at first (acronyms do that), but then I recalled how HRW can’t stand JLo. They wrote a magnificent expos of her history of serenading crooks and dictators after she recently performed for the Turkmenistan despot for a nice chunk of cash.
In contrast, HRC loves JLo, and they enthusiastically justified her award: “We recognize Jennifer for her talent, style, compassion, philanthropy and generosity, but foremost for her public commitment to LGBT equality. This award is given to allies outside the LGBT community who stand up on behalf of equality for all Americans.? Okay, I can buy that JLo is passionate about equal rights in our country. Obviously, she doesn’t care at all what happens to people in other countries. HRC should care about that.

Here are some photos of LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian at Mason?s soccer game. Mason?s team won. I know that because LeAnn was tweeting about it. The paparazzi always manage to get photos of LeAnn and Eddie (and the kids) at the soccer games? does she call them and give them Mason?s game schedule or something? The paps can?t be THAT lucky, right?
You might notice that LeAnn is showing off a different kind of accessory ? she got a splint for her hand injury, which occurred during her sad little European tour. First she had to cancel a performance because she was ?sick? and then she broke her fingers? What are the odds? Also, didn?t Brandi Glanville already break her hand several months ago? SINGLE WHITE FEMALE. At least LeAnn switched the hands ? Brandi busted her right hand, LeAnn busted her left hand.
In other LeAnn news, she?s taking part of this year?s annual ?Opry Goes Pink? event. The Grand Ole Opry turns their stage ?pink? every October for Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year, LeAnn gets to ?flip the switch? to turn everything pink.
Also: LeAnn has also been posting photos (on Twitter) of her niece. The photos are pretty funny, especially the one of LeAnn getting up in the baby?s face. I wonder if that?s scary for a baby, to have LeAnn?s (Falcor-like) face breathing on you? LeAnn posted one photo and wrote, ?I got some baby practice in today! Now for some other practice LOL?. Interesting. Is Eddie not putting out?

Did you go to see Runner, Runner this weekend? Probably not. The big story for this weekend?s box office was the domination of Gravity. I was expecting Gravity to do well ? the critical praise for the film was universal ? but I didn?t think it would do as well as it did. Gravity made $55.6 million in North America this weekend, mostly because of the boost it got from IMAX and 3D theaters. So, good news for Sandra Bullock, who is still the reigning box office champion time after time. She?s having a great year ? The Heat was a box office success as well. Basically, I?m saying that if Sandra wants an Oscar nomination this year for Gravity (and probably a Golden Globe nomination for The Heat), all she has to do is show up.
But for me, the more interesting story is Runner, Runner and how Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake barely promoted it and how it couldn?t even break $10 million even though it was playing in 3000 theaters. It?s easy enough to blame this mess on Justin, mostly because HE was ?the star? and Hollywood just won?t admit that the boy can?t act whatsoever. But let?s give Ben Affleck some blame too. This was the first ?Ben Affleck movie? to come out since he won the Oscar for Argo. THIS is how he followed up his Oscar. These are the kind of career decisions that lead to Gigli and Jersey Girl. No joke. And this is dude who will be Batman? HA.
Here are some photos of Justin playing golf this weekend. So much for shilling his new movie. Attention to producers: this is what you get when you hire Justin Timberlake. Not only is he a terrible actor, but he?s also awful at standing up and promoting his work. So why are you still hiring him?!

Showing off her baby belly while out and about in Los Angeles today (October 6), Jennifer Love Hewitt combated the pre-natal woes with a day of shopping.
Pregnant, but just as lovely as she?s ever been, the ?Client List? temptress looked cute and casual, with aviators, her long hair down about her shoulders, a striped button down over a white tank, jeans and comfy tan slippers, complete with arms full of shopping bags.
