I don’t reallybuy that Gigi Hadid has ever actually broken a sweat in her life, unless we’re talking about the time she laid out on the beach for too long, so I don’t know if she’d be my first choice to model a new line of exercise clothes… But the good news is,that doesn’t stop […]

| Kaley Cuoco in tulle Marchesa at the SAGs: twee, terrible & tragic? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I burst out laughing when I saw Kaley Cuoco on the SAG red carpet. It?s not because she is funny (she is not). It?s because only Kaley Cuoco would try to pull off this ballerina fuggery. You?ll never guess who designed this!!! MARCHESA. I know, how shocking. From the front, it?s twee, wannabe-ballerina Pink tulle nonsense. From the back, there?s green and? yeah, this is just a mess. A hilarious mess. God, and her hair looks like she just finished working out.
Sophia Bush also wore Marchesa and this isn?t AS offensive to me as Kaley?s, but it?s still pretty bad. I would think that Sophia has access to better looks than this? Surely J. Mendel would dress her, or maybe she could get someone?s second-choice Elie Saab? But no, we got an badly-tailored hot Pink mess with that thing on the side? I feel like Emperor Baby Fists would love to grope her dress. (PS? her makeup was probably the worst thing about this.)
I don?t even remember seeing Gina Rodriguez on the carpet, so her dress came as a surprise to me. This is Patricia Bonaldi. Not the best, but not the worst either.

| Jerry Seinfeld tweet-joked about Black Lives Matter: offensive or not? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jerry Seinfeld?s current gig is Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, where he rides around with some of his famous friends and they shoot the breeze. It?s like an informal interview show and people generally like it. President Obama even did an episode. Seinfeld announces new episodes all the time on his Twitter, often doing a little one-liner joke, which are often cheeseball. Sample: ?New Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee! Cedric The Entertainer. No affiliation with Cedric The Regular Person.?
Well, Jerry tried to do a punchy little joke about his latest guest, professional disgruntled comedian Lewis Black. This is the tweet:
New!Comedians In Cars Getting CoffeeLewis Black. Black?s life matters. @Acura! https://t.co/MDGxxNNjgz

| Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen at the SAGs: stunning or meh? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Emma Stone surprised me at the SAG Awards last night. It?s not that I hate Emma?s style, or I think she?s completely hopeless sartorially. I just haven?t been digging her fashion choices the past few years, and I think she?s goes for cute/twee when she should be going for clean, mature and sophisticated. So I was surprised that she chose this rather sexy Alexander McQueen gown with the half-lingerie look. I would have hated this if the entire dress was lingerie, and I would have hated it if the whole dress was embroidered velvet. But mix the two together and? I think I like this? Is that weird? It?s just such a surprising choice for her. Anyway, obviously Emma won the SAG for Best Actress? which means that Natalie Portman probably has little-to-no chance. Yay? Even though Emma was the worst part of La La Land, if it means Portman doesn?t get another Oscar, I think I?m Team Emma.
Kerry Washington wore Roberto Cavalli. I don?t hate or love this. It?s flattering and it?s okay. Kerry elevates a mediocre dress with her superb styling though – hair, makeup, jewelry, everything looks incredible. She?s just glowing.
Emily Blunt also wore Roberto Cavalli. This was a lot cuter in motion, on the carpet. You could see the detailing and it was pretty. But in photos, it doesn?t look that great. Everything looks like it?s the same color – the nude shade is too fleshy, and her hair is literally blending into the dress.

| Winona Ryder in Ryan Roche at the SAGs: old-school or just boring? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

One of the best parts of this awards season is the return of Winona Ryder to her rightful place on the red carpet. The problem is that old-school ?90s Winona is no longer with us. I?m a ?90s Girl so I remember when Winona was The One. We couldn?t wait to see what she would wear to the Globes and the Oscars back then. Nowadays? her style is pretty boring. To last night?s SAGs, Winona wore this custom Ryan Roche dress in black. It?s got a pretty neckline and shape but it?s pretty boring overall. Thankfully, when Stranger Things won Best Ensemble in a Drama, Winona got on stage and her reaction shots were the best.

| Nicole Kidman in shiny green Gucci at the SAGs: ridiculous or fun? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve gotten so used to Nicole Kidman?s messy Miss Havisham styles that I don?t know how to react when she actually wears something different. And this Gucci was absolutely ?different.? Nicole wore this super-shiny and very green Gucci to the SAGs last night. I think she knows that she?s not going to win anything and she?s just having fun and wearing weird and interesting stuff? But she looks like she went to Gucci and she said, ?You know the snake emoji? Make me a dress that looks like that.? Gucci should have saved this for Taylor Swift.
I loved Janelle Monae in Moonlight and I know I?ll love her in Hidden Figures too. But her ?commitment? to wearing only black, white and grey is getting to be so boring, especially when it feels like she?s still stuck in the music industry at times, you know? Like, she wears costumes not clothes. This Chanel had a similar feel – too costume-y, too grey, too much. I think the cuffs were the worst part.
Millie Bobby Brown doesn?t really fit in this post of fashion messes, but I?ll throw her in anyway. She wore a custom Armani, and she said that the designers at Armani sketched it for her. While I love that the Stranger Things kids are having so much fun, I?m also really uncomfortable with how ?adult? Millie tries to be.

| Salma Hayek is in trouble for condescending to Jessica Williams | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Salma Hayek attended the SAG Awards as a presenter, because that?s what Salma does at this point – she shows up at awards shows to present awards. Salma chose this yellow and Pink Gucci, which? let?s be honest, it?s terrible. Over the years, I?ve come to understand that I have a general aversion to yellow dresses, but seriously, this would not have been a good dress in another color anyway. But in yellow? No. It looked like a mix between a cheap bridesmaid?s dress and a quinceanera dress.
But really, I wanted to talk about this article in the Los Angeles Times – go here to read it. Salma attended a lunch celebrating women in film at Sundance. Women like Shirley MacLaine, Alfre Woodard and Jessica Williams were in attendance. The conversation quickly turned to politics and race, and when Jessica tried to speak about how she was perceived as a black woman – in life and in the industry – it really felt like Salma was talking down to her. Like, Salma tried to shut Jessica down when Jessica wanted to expand the conversation about how just being trans or just being black in our society can?t be dealt with by just thinking positive. It was a complicated conversation, which is why I?m not going to excerpt from it, but you should absolutely read the piece to see the context. People reacted on Twitter:
What Salma Hayek did was exactly what white women tend to do in these conversations. She framed races as "divisive" & shut Williams down.

| Natalie Portman in a tent-like Dior at the SAGs: retro fug disaster or fine? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I enjoy the SAG Awards and the SAG fashion because it feels like a big, formal event, but it also feels like actors are there to get a bit loose and have fun. There?s rarely a huge fashion moment, and the gowns usually feel like the second or third choices (as in, women wear their first choices to the Golden Globes and Oscars). So, I don?t know if Natalie Portman intended to wear this Dior dress. Like, was this ever her first choice? She?s one of the major faces of the label and – just my opinion – it feels like Dior has been struggling to meet the needs of their ?pregnant? models. Dior was like, ?f–k it, just give her a giant sheet with some bell sleeves,? and Natalie was like, ?Er, this dress sucks but I guess I?ll just wear it to the SAGs, no one will notice.? We noticed. I feel sorry for her – no pregnant lady should have to wear a giant tent with bell sleeves. No wonder she looks like she could kill someone (JK, she always looks like that).
Kirsten Dunst also got a Dior. This, to me, is solid, but a bit dull. I mean, it?s flattering, inoffensive, rather pretty but not all that memorable. She looks nice but will she be anyone?s choice for best-dressed?
Kate Hudson got a Dior dress too. This was horrible on the runway but I think Dior did a decent job making it red-carpet ready. Honestly, imagine this dress on someone you really liked, and I bet you would love the dress. As it is, I think people were hating on this look because they don?t care for Kate Hudson personally, and they didn?t know why she was there (she was just presenting). The dress is decent-to-solid, IMO.

| Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Lela Rose at the SAGs: righteous? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last night’s SAG Awards were truly amazing to watch. As someone who has a lot of difficult following celebrity gossip when it feels like the world is burning down, I really appreciated that so many artists condemned Agent Orange’s egregious breeches of power and his persecution of Muslims in particular. The E! red carpet coverage was oblivious and somewhat infuriating, but the actors brought it up many times during the ceremony. We cannot stay silent when these abuses happen and a hearty bye! to anyone emailing or messaging me on Facebook telling us to stop covering politics. (I may compile all these and post them to Twitter with the names redacted at some point.) As I’ve said before, feel free to leave and tell me I’m endangering my business. I’m endangering my personal integrity if I stay quiet. If you are uncomfortable and want a break I’m sorry however. I get that, but that’s what they want from us.
One of the first and best speeches, although there were so many, was from my girl Julia Louis-Dreyfus who was recognized yet again for her work on Veep. Julia had a poignant speech prepared about how she’s the daughter of an immigrant. She had a hilarious opening in which she claimed that she legitimately won the award and that the crowd was over a million people. Then she said, in part, “I am the daughter of an immigrant. My father fled religious persecution in Nazi occupied France and I?m an American patriot and I love this country. Because I love this country I am afraid of its blemishes. This ban is a blemish and it is un American.” YES. You can see her speech here on our recap post. Also, Julia has won so many awards that I have to consult Wiki every time. This is her second SAG for Veep and her seventh overall.
Julia was in Lela Rose, in a black strapless column gown with gold embroidered leaves. I wish the leaf pattern wasn’t as huge, but still it’s an amazing gown. Check out her coiled gold necklace.
Ellie Kemper, also nominated in the outstanding performance in the comedy category, was in a Wai Ming royal blue velvet one shoulder gown. This is so pretty I love it.
Julia’s costar, Anna Chlumsky, was in custom Elizabeth Kennedy, in a ruched Pink floor length gown. This looked incredible and was a nice change from some of the sacks she’s been wearing lately. I don’t know how I feel about the back though.

| Michelle Williams in striped Louis Vuitton at the SAGs: fancy circus tent? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When Michelle Williams arrived on the SAG red carpet in this Louis Vuitton, people were immediately like, ?Oh, honey, noooo.? Not even Giuliana Rancic could muster up something nice to say. To be fair to Michelle, at least she didn?t do her patented Civil War Ghost cosplay, like she did at the Globes. And to be fair to Michelle, she does have that Louis Vuitton contract and LV?s current line is basically the worst. She didn?t have that many choices, I think. But still? this is a disaster. Something nice: I don?t hate her hair here. It doesn?t look white-blonde and she didn?t slick it down to the sides of her head. Yay?
Sophie Turner also got a Louis Vuitton gown and hers isn?t much better? Like, I don?t mind that she?s attempting an old-Hollywood glam look. I don?t mind the red, I don?t mind the hair or makeup. She looks great for the most part. But the dress? eh. The bust is throwing everything off.
Claire Foy – star of The Crown and winner of a SAG – wore this Valentino gown. I haven?t watched The Crown (don?t hate me!) so I don?t really have an opinion of Foy in general. But judging from her red carpet interviews, she seems like a cool young woman and she?s very pretty. I like the fact that she?s taking some fashion risks, but I would love it if she was one of those British actresses who consistently wore British designers to awards shows. This Valentino is anticlimactic. It?s also kind of ugly? That collar, you guys.
Meryl Streep?s Valentino was pretty simple – just a light, pretty gown with little birds on the fabric. Like, is it the best thing she?s ever worn? No. But she looked good. She looked like she knew she wasn?t going to win anything and she was just there to have a good time, I guess.

| Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad at the SAGs: very nice change or meh? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sofia Vergara almost always does a fitted gown with a sweetheart neckline and a fishtail skirt. So when she was on the red carpet talking to Giuliana Rancic, Giuliana recognized that Sofia was mixing it up and she complimented her on that. This is a very cute Zuhair Murad dress and I love how it’s so understated for Sofia and yet has a sophisticated vibe. It’s fancy but looks comfortable. Plus her shoes are kind of perfect. The bust is kind of ill fitting but that’s not too noticeable and I didn’t see it on camera.
Sofia was actually one of the first celebrities on the E! red carpet to bring up the horrible situation in the US with legitimate green card holders being turned away at our airports. Someone at E! must have told Giuliana and Brad Goreski not to bring it up at all and to act like it was business as usual and this was a big mistake, in my opinion. Other networks had more vocal celebrities, probably because they gave them a chance to speak. Sofia said, with no prompting by Giuliana because she was pointedly ignoring the subject, “it’s very hard times for everybody in the country now but it’s good that we can entertain them a little bit.” Then she talked about taking people’s minds off it, which isn’t a bad point. I’m past that now but I was there a few days ago.
Here’s Julie Bowen in J. Mendel, in a real mess of a lace dress with a see through skirt. I’m so over this look and it seems like it’s on the way out anyway. Her styling makes her look like Gwyneth Paltrow, right?
Also in J. Mendel was Gretchen Mol. The top of this dress looks like an exercise leotard. The beadwork is exquisite though and that’s how Julie’s dress could have been improved – by limiting the amount of intricate lace to just one section.
Ariel Winter was in Mikael D and she looks… different. This is a tacky gold dress but at least it’s occasion appropriate. Ariel was there with her boyfriend, Levi Meaden, and they kissed on the red carpet.
Finally here’s Giuliana Rancic in Yousef Al-Jasmi. I actually liked this, although it’s a bit showgirl, because her styling was decent – for her.

| 2017 SAG Awards Open Post: Hosted by Emily Blunt's weird surge | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
The 2017 SAG Awards are going on tonight. The awards start at 8 pm on TNT here in America, and the E! Red Carpet pre-show starts at 6 pm. We?ll have full fashion coverage tomorrow morning, starting bright and early.
I would imagine that they will be crazy political this year, don?t you? And by that I mean? at the Golden Globes, Meryl Streep made an elegant argument against Emperor Baby Fists and everything he represents, and that happened BEFORE he was in even in office. Now that we?re through the first full week of the Orange Apocalypse, I don?t see how the presenters and winners tonight won?t be making near-constant references to any and all of Trump?s dangerous, sad, divisive, misogynistic, racist, unhinged, petty hatemongering.
The hostess of our SAG Open Post this year is Emily Blunt. She surprised me – and I think she surprised many people – by getting a SAG and a BAFTA nomination for her work in The Girl on the Train. While the book was popular, the film was not a critical success. The film still sits at 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. That being said, it did gross more than $170 million worldwide, so more people saw Blunt?s film than, say, Loving. Loving got shut out of the SAGs. Sad. For a few weeks, I was really worried that Emily was surging in the Best Actress race and that she would end up with an Oscar nomination and Ruth Negga would not. But that didn?t happen. So? expect to see Emily and her husband on the red carpet tonight – they already flew home from London, where she?s been working on Mary Poppins.
Celebitchy & I will be tweeting throughout the evening – go here for CB?s Twitter and go here for my Twitter at KaiseratCB.
