Bella Hadid took part in the Vogue Fashion Festival a few Fridays ago. I don?t really know what the Vogue Fashion Festival is, but I would assume it?s just a series of vendors and Q&A sessions. This one was in Paris, and Bella did a Q&A session where she talked about runway modeling for Victoria?s Secret versus modeling for Savage x Fenty, and how too much modeling work affected her mental health. Some quotes:
Walking for Victoria?s Secret (three times) versus Fenty lingerie: ?Rihanna?s amazing. For me, that was the first time on a runway that I felt really sexy. Because when I first did Fenty, I was doing other lingerie shows and I never felt powerful on a runway, like, in my underwear. I like being another character. I think at this point I don?t necessarily love being myself sometime. Sometimes on the runway you get either nervous or you forget how your legs move.?
Getting burned out on modeling: ?For a while I just didn?t want to talk about it, and I?ve gone through a lot in the past few years with my health. I feel guilty for being able to live this incredible life, have the opportunities that I do, but somehow still be depressed. It doesn?t make sense. I would cry every single morning, I would cry during my lunch breaks, I would cry before I slept. I was very emotionally unstable for a while when I was working 14-hour days for four months straight as an 18-year-old. I think I just wanted to breathe a little bit. And so it kind of put me in a spiral.?
Finally being able to talk about mental health: ?Showing people what I support, the things that I love in my life that I?m passionate about, is something that?s very important to me, so I hope that in the future I can show that more. For a while I just shut it off, but I?m back. I just hope I can help in any way I can. I feel like I would be doing a disservice to myself if I didn?t speak about something such as mental health, because that?s pretty much what I?ve been going through for the past five years very intensely. Now we?re here and we?re good, but it took a while.?
She knows she seems closed off to strangers: ?I think I look really scary online a lot of the time,? she mused, adding that having briefly studied photography at Parsons in New York, she is generally more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. ?I don?t love the camera that much but I?m a model, so I guess I should start.?

This reminds me of how Prince William said, earlier this year, that ?not one celebrity? wanted to work with him on Heads Together because of the issue of ?mental health.? It is just a reminder that discussions about mental health especially among celebrities/models/public figures have been happening now at a steady clip for years. It?s odd that so many of these celebrity mental health advocates don?t want to work with William and Kate, huh? As for what Bella said? I mean, I always think that everything must be magnified when it comes to that celebrity world. It?s not just imposter syndrome with starting a job or career, it becomes magnified because you?re walking a runway or starring in an ad campaign or you?re on the cover of a magazine. Bella?s message is ?I had a hard time, I struggled, but I dealt with it and came out on the other side.? Which is a healthy message.

Selena Gomez looked amazing on the red carpet at the AMAs last night. Unfortunately her performance opening the show was a bit muted, to be generous. She did Lose You To Love Me and Look at Her Now, and it was somewhat off key and not that dynamic. You can see a clip from that on JustJared. Her red carpet look was a bright little Versace and she rocked it though. The Fashion Court tweeted a photo of this on the runway and its perfect for Selena. Her hair is so cute like that and her makeup is beautiful.

Carrie Underwood won favorite album country for Cry Pretty. I know she bugs some people, but I appreciate that she stays in her lane, that shes a consummate professional, that she puts on consistently great performances and that shes somewhat uncontroversial. Taylor Swift has made so many other artists look super mature in comparison. Carrie was in a purple sequin Stello gown that was half high-slit with a spaghetti strap top and half draped gown. Its weird yet not that interesting, but its better than we usually see from her. She didnt do pageant or wear something with a bunch of fringe hanging off of it so points for that. Her eyelashes look ridiculous and shes wearing gold platform sandals but baby steps.
Heidi Klum, on the other hand, keeps reverting to her fashion comfort zone of terribly fug. She was in a Monsoon babydoll dress with a silver top that barely contained her boobs and a very short full navy feathered skirt. Girl. At least her new young husband is a musician so she had an excuse to be there. Look at her expression in the second photo.
Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam are couples goals. How beautiful does she looks? Her look is by Dundas and its perfect. The camera panned to Taran during Keshas performance and his jaw was hanging open.
Do you remember Alyson Stoner? Shes the dancer who killed it on stage with Missy Elliot at the VMAs this summer 17 years after she appeared in the Work It video as a child. She was at the AMAs in some kind of sponcon with T-Mobile and her outfit was so great I wanted to talk about it. A metallic rippled bustier with punchy black and silver sequin trousers and a matching jacket. Yes please. Lets see more of her.
Kelsea Ballerini was in a crimson sequin Gucci suit with an open tuxedo jacket and no shirt. I feel like this look is so over. Just wear a shirt and be comfortable. Or throw on a bra, its not that hard.

Last nights AMAs were decent but they went on too long like every awards show. I know Im such a privileged bitch to have this job but its work whenever I have to stay up to watch these things past 10. Plus Taylor Swift annoys the sh-t out of me for good reason. To those of you who have desk jobs, customer service jobs or who otherwise do actual work, Im sorry. When I miss things I feel like Im not doing my job is all. I noticed Jenna Dewan saying something to stylist Brad Goreski during Camila Cabellos performance but didnt think much of it because I couldnt see what she was saying. Someone captured that moment and its really clear shes saying shes always extra. A clip is below:

Taylor Swift walked into the American Music Awards last night knowing that she was the center of attention, knowing that people were tuning in just to see what she would say or do about Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, and whether she would perform her old songs. After all of the orchestrated drama and after inciting her fans to doxx, harass and threaten people, Taylor ?played it safe.? I guess? My snake meter seems to be off, because I didn?t really think she did or said anything notably shady in her performance or in any of the many speeches she made when she picked up trophies for Artist of the Decade, Artist of the Year and Favorite Pop Rock Album. Her red carpet outfit was by Julien Macdonald I felt like she was actually trying to look ?snakey? is that just me?
As for the performance of a medley of her hits? there were a lot of songs from 1989, and the bulk of the medley was devoted to Big Machine-era music, which is the bulk of her catalogue, so that makes sense. It?s still not clear if she was really being ?blocked? at any time from performing those songs live, but whatever. The last song she performed was ?Lover? from her latest album. It was a pretty typical Taylor Swift performance through and through. I guess the ?classy shade? part was the beginning, when she and some dancers wore smocks with all of her old album titles written on the smocks, all as Taylor sang ?The Man,? and then she quickly ?shed? the past.
Here are her speeches throughout the night? I know Carole King has always praised Taylor as a songwriter and all that, but? whew, it was A LOT.
