| Winona Ryder on aging: 'How do you win' If I don't look ageless, I look haggard' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Above is a photo of Winona Ryder, 43, and her hot longterm boyfriend, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, a fashion designer who founded the socially conscious clothing line Loomstate. These two have been together for over three years and they’re just a ridiculously good looking couple. I didn’t realize that Winona had a longterm boyfriend but she does and they look sympatico. Maybe it’s the all black clothing coupled with their expressive eyes. They’re like soul eaters.
Ryder has a new interview with Entertainment Tonight in which she’s promoting Experimenter, with Peter Sarsgaard, an account of the Stanley Milgram experiments in the early 1960s*. The film is out October 16th and here’s a link to the trailer. It looks really good.
To ET, Ryder talked about aging and how it’s a relief to play a character her own age. She turns 44 at the end of the month, can you believe it? She implicitly denied having Botox or fillers by saying that she’s afraid of needles but added that she doesn’t judge women who do that. Is she doing lasers or just staying inside whenever the sun is out? Maybe she’s used heavy sunscreen since she was a teenager. That has to be it. Despite how young she continues to look, Ryder isn’t immune to criticism. She said that she can’t win, basically. Some of the things she said about aging struck me as poetic.
On people saying she looks the same as she did 25 years ago
?It?s such a double-edged sword, because, it?s like, I want to be allowed to grow up,? Ryder tells ET, curled up in a black tracksuit — she thought we were going to chat by phone — in a suite at the Crosby Hotel in New York City. She blames the current state of nostalgia on social media, which has resurfaced younger pictures of her. ?How do you win? If I don?t look ageless, I look haggard. Or if I look normal or whatever, then they?ll talk about how bad I look…”
Ryder, however, has no interest in plastic surgery. ?I don?t judge, but I?m just terrified of needles,? she says.
On why she didn’t get roles playing women her age
?I feel like when you?ve had a lot of success in your teen years and 20s — and I?m not trying to speak for anyone else — but something kind of happens where you are in your 30s and people associate you so much with those other roles,? Ryder says. ?So, they don?t really think of you as old enough, even though you are old enough.?
?I feel like I kind of had this thing in my 30s where it was just hard because people were really holding onto this ingnue thing.”
?I wasn?t that anymore and I looked young, you know, and I?m not complaining about that, but I also agreed,? Ryder adds, as she sits wide-eyed on the room?s loveseat. ?I wouldn?t buy myself as a district attorney when I was 35 either, even though I could have been one, you know, age-wise.?
On her role in Black Swan
?I?m so grateful to Darren [Aronofsky] for giving me that role,? Ryder says. ?It wasn?t something I pursued, because I didn?t think in a million years I could be a ballerina or anything. But, you know, I really owe him a great debt there.?
On playing a character her age in the HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero
?The way that [director Paul Haggis] shot me was super unflattering but great… Look, we all want to look good and stuff, but I think there is something great about embracing getting older.?
On growing old gracefully
Without referencing the current discussion about ageism in Hollywood, which has led many actresses to speak about being overlooked as they get older, Ryder applauds the likes of Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and Juliette Binoche for setting the example for aging gracefully. ?You look at a lot of these actresses that are winning Academy Awards, and they?re beautiful,? she says.
The actress even has a special phrase for blushing in honor of Binoche. ?Very genuinely, I?d call it Binoche-ing,? she says as she pinches the top of her own cheeks, referencing the French actress? early 1988 film, The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
?Correct me if I?m wrong, but maybe there?s a new standard of beauty,? Ryder adds.
[From ET Online, headers added]
Without directly saying it, Ryder is saying the new standard of beauty is women aging naturally. She’s right that they can’t win, though. Somehow she’s still looking preternaturally young and I like that she’s not complaining about it at the same time as she’s acknowledging that it’s affected her career.
Ryder recently confirmed that Beetlejuice 2 is in the works! She clarified this week that Seth Myers had cornered her into admitting that and added that she’s not sure when it’s happening. “I don?t know any more than anybody else… I feel bad confirming, because who knows, Burton could do another movie first.” Geena Davis has said she hasn’t heard anything but would be on board too. As for why Ryder would do a Beetlejuice follow up, she said that the film and her other cult classic, Heathers, make her feel nostalgic. “They come on TV and I feel like, ?Aww.’” Those movies do that for so many of us in her generation.

*If you took Psychology 101 you’re probably familiar with Milgram, who tested how far people would go to follow orders from authority figures. Milgram told subjects they were administering electric shocks to a participant in another room as punishment for not learning a word task. The shock recipient was complicit in the deception and received no shocks, but play acted as if he was being shocked and was suffering. Surprisingly, 65% of the subjects administered shocks they believed to be up to the maximum 450 volts, even when the victim was pleading to have it stop.

| Cate Blanchett's NYC promotional fashion looks: fabulous, amazing or meh' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Cate Blanchett has been all over the place this week as she promotes both Carol and Truth. I think this week was mostly about Truth, the Dan Rather/Mary Mapes story. Cate?s had a lot of new interviews, so I really haven?t been doing full-on fashion coverage of Cate?s many looks. So that?s what this post is for ? the many styles of Cate Blanchett in New York this week.
Let?s start with this bright, sleeved Armani gown/dress that Cate wore to a screening of Truth this week. It?s got a great ?70s vibe (which is on-trend) and it?s amazing to see her in something bright, because she?s been doing way too many blacks, neutrals and pale shades lately. Basically, I love everything about this. I love the color, the sleeves, the design and the way Cate looks like she really put some thought into her big hair.
Cate wore what is easily the BEST Valentino dress I?ve seen in years for this casual outing (?) in New York a few days ago. Cate?s also been trying to make those Pink aviator glasses work on this trip ? she?s been wearing them on and off for more than a week. I?m still undecided on the glasses (I’m generally not a fan of aviators) but I absolutely LOVE this Valentino.
And here?s Cate last night in a cool black suit. It?s classic and simple.
Here?s Cate heading to a Good Morning America interview wearing a Derek Lam shirtdress. This is maybe my least favorite look of this bunch, but even then? this isn?t bad at all.

| Kim Kardashian steps out in a minidress, Isabel Marant trench: uncomfortable? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about on Wednesday with Kanye West and little North West. Kim and Yeezy took North to her ballet class, then they went to a movie later on. Kim is just a few weeks shy of seven months pregnant. I feel for her, I really do. She looks so uncomfortable, and the minidress, heels and Isabel Marant trench coat aren?t helping. Interestingly enough, some people have pointed out that Kanye is wearing a t-shirt that he seems to share with Kim sometimes ? she was photographed in the same t-shirt in NYC last month.
Meanwhile, this week there?s been a lot of talk on some media sites about Kim?s first time, the guy who took her V. Back in 2012, Kim talked openly during the Kardashians? Oprah interview about how she was able to talk to her mom about dating and sex. She said that when she told her mom that she wanted to go all the way with a dude, Kris Jenner put her on birth control. Kim was 14 years old at the time. But before now, I guess we didn?t know the identity of the dude who took Kim?s V? Perhaps. As it turns out, it was probably Michael Jackson?s cousin nephew, TJ Jackson.
Kim Kardashian is getting real about who ~hit it first~ ? and it turns out the lucky [V] cardholder might be Michael Jackson?s cousin, TJ Jackson!
It was previously revealed in a glimpse from Sean Smith?s upcoming tell-all titled Kim that she dated TJ when she was 14, which is around the same time Kim says she told mom Kris Jenner she wanted to have sex.
?I was like, ?I think I?m going to, or I want to,?? she previously recalled to Oprah, ?and she [Kris] was like, ?OK, so this is what we?re gonna do, we?re gonna put you on birth control,’ and she was like, really open and honest with me.”
TJ has also opened up about his close ties to the Kardashian family as a child, even calling the matriarch a mother-figure to him when his mother passed away. Kim, who is now expecting her second child with husband Kanye West, even had her 14th birthday party at the late Michael?s Neverland Ranch and went on to attend her high school prom with TJ as her date.
“Even though she was growing up as a privileged youngster in Beverly Hills?this was something entirely different and totally thrilling,” the biographer writes of Kim’s extravagant 14th birthday.
[From In Touch Weekly]
So, someone named Sean Smith is writing a tell-all book about Kim and he spoke to TJ Jackson who claimed that he probably took her V. Got it. I mean? did we really need to know this? I found the Oprah interview interesting because it was one of those rare moments where Kris Jenner seemed like a responsible mother, willing to talk to her teenage kids openly about sex. But I didn?t need to know who the dude was.

| Nicole Kidman didn't attend her daughter's wedding but she's 'very happy for Bella' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Here are some photos of Nicole Kidman arriving at and leaving the Noel Coward Theater in London in the past week. She?s been starring in the play Photograph 51 since early/mid-September. Kidman loves being in London and she starred in a handful of plays on the London stage. What?s weird is that even though Kidman was working in London (and has been for a month), she seems to have zero contact with her daughter Isabella Cruise. Despite tabloid reporting to the contrary, Kidman was not invited and did not even know about Isabella Cruise?s wedding. Isabella got married on September 18, and while it?s still up in the air about Tom Cruise?s presence (?) at the wedding, the wedding was totally a Scientology-heavy affair and Tom paid for the whole shin-dig at the Dorchester Hotel. You can see some photos of the wedding here at the Daily Mail ? the DM claims that Isabella ?banned? Nicole. So Nicole had to get her publicist to release some info to People Mag.
Although Nicole Kidman was not present when her daughter Isabella Cruise married British I.T. consultant Max Parker on Sept. 18, she is thrilled Bella has found true love.
“She is very happy for Bella,” a source close to Kidman, 48, tells PEOPLE.
The actress did not know about the wedding beforehand ? reports that she helped plan it are inaccurate, the source says ? but only wants what’s best for Bella.
“She, like all mothers, wants her child to be happy, and it surely seems Bella is very happy,” says the source.
The newlyweds, who married at London’s Dorchester Hotel after dating for less than a year, wanted a low-key and intimate celebration. Bella’s father, Tom Cruise, and older brother, Connor, were also absent from the festivities, although Cruise, 53, footed the bill.
[From People]
I do feel sorry for Nicole. We could say ?well, she could have done more to maintain contact with Connor and Isabella,? but the truth of the matter is that Nicole was pretty lucky to get herself out of that situation unscathed. In fact, I think leaving Connor and Isabella with Tom was one of the big reasons why Nicole was able to get out. I also think that Nicole believes that if she doesn?t come out, guns blazing against CoS, that maybe one day her kids will realize that she stayed silent as a way to protect them, so they would come back to her at some point. Anyway? God, I can?t even imagine not inviting parents/family to a wedding. Then again, I can?t imagine getting married at 18 either.

| Ellen Pompeo on Daniel Craig's interview: 'This dude needs a reality check' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yesterday, I covered Daniel Craig?s rather amazing TimeOut London interview ? go here to recap. Daniel was in rare form, cursing up a storm and making declarations like ?I?d rather break this glass and slash my wrists? when asked if he?d like to do another Bond movie. If it was anyone else saying all of that, media outlets might have been a little bit harsher. But by now, we all know Daniel is a curmudgeon, right? We all know that he uses violent hyperbole to describe the process of making the James Bond films. Well, apparently Ellen Pompeo wasn?t familiar with Daniel?s vibe. So she tweeted this:

Jamie Lee Curtis has a new interview in the print edition of People Magazine. Curtis, 56, is starring in Scream Queens and while she’s excellent as the gives-no-f*cks dean, it’s not a show I enjoy watching at all. Curtis’s interview is notable for the things she says about aging as a woman in Hollywood, which is a cause that’s close to her. She’s been open about the minor plastic surgery she’s had done and she famously posed in a bra and bike shorts with no makeup in 2002 for More Magazine. Curtis, with her short natural gray hair and minimal makeup, is a kind of icon for aging naturally in Hollywood. She’ll tell you about it too without sounding self righteous. Here’s

| Katy Perry on her favorite men's grooming look: 'The less hair, the better' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Here are some photos of Katy Perry last month at an event for Harper?s Bazaar. I totally forgot that she changed up her signature black hair ? I barely recognize her as a redhead. Seriously! I had to double-check the photo ID. Katy has a new interview with Glamour Mag which is mostly about beauty stuff, her natural hair color and what kind of grooming she prefers on a man. Spoiler: I?m going to fight with her about some of this stuff.
Her onstage vs. off-duty look: “I?m Katy Perry onstage. At home I?m Katheryn Hudson. I?ve created this cartoon look when performing, but offstage I don?t always have three hours to put it together. That?s when I?m just about lashes, shaping my brows, and more natural skin. I use CoverGirl mascara, and I like lash extensions too?they make you feel like Bambi. Then a nice bronzer and a good powder. I just learned how to shade a little bit so you slim your face down and take care of your undercarriage underneath your chin.”
Her hair-color-as-accessory mind-set: “I?m naturally the most boring dishwater squirrel brown. So I?ve been playing with colors since I was 15. I loved the grunge green, and shocking blue was fun. Colored hair is such a huge accessory that you don?t even need to add extra stuff.”
Her best nail-art moments: “I?ve done election nails, royal nails. I?ve used BuzzFeed for ideas. But now I?m really into a gel mani. People talk about, ?Oh, you know, it hurts your nail beds.? I?m like, ?Listen, nobody is talking about how strong your nail beds look. They?re saying, ?Oh my God, that mani is incredible.”
Her favorite flaw: “Well, I don?t know everything; I don?t have a great education. Some would consider asking questions about mundane things or what a word means a flaw, but I love that I do that.”
Her forever scent: “My signature scent now is, and always has been, a blend of vanillas. And I never spray it on my skin. I spritz and walk through?or levitate through. I like to spray it on my hair too. With Mad Potion, the two main ingredients are exotic vanillas and androgynous musks. It?s definitely a sweeter perfume. I like to be edible. I want somebody to?eat me.”
Her getting-ready anthem: “I’m Every Woman,? because who knows what kind of woman I?ll be that night?”
Her favorite grooming look on a man: “If your teeth and nails are good, you?re a candidate. If you can?t clean under your nails and you want to touch me, forget it. And personally, the less hair, the better. I like a trimmed man but not completely waxed. I?m not into that f–kboy look.”
[From Glamour]
Man-grooming: I?m with her on teeth and nails ? there are few things so gross to me as a dude with filthy hands and nails. But ?less hair???? This coming from the woman who married Hairy Dude Russell Brand? Is that it? Did Brand make her want to never date a hairy guy ever again? Personally, I enjoy a furry guy. Different strokes, etc, but I?m with her on not liking the completely waxed look on a man (or on a woman, for that matter).
As for this: ?I don?t have a great education. Some would consider asking questions about mundane things or what a word means a flaw, but I love that I do that.” Girl? we know you don?t have a great education. Like, we know that at a profound level. But she still turned it into a humble-brag, like she?s an amazing person because she asks what a word means?

| Taylor Swift covers GQ for the first time ever: sexy, silly or try-hard? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
I didn?t realize this, but Taylor Swift has never covered an issue of GQ (US) before now. I always think of her as dominating the magazine covers and while that?s true, it?s usually women?s magazines and music mags. If we?re being honest, almost entirely women?s magazines. She hasn?t covered Rolling Stone in over a year!
Anyway, yes, Swifty covers the November issue of GQ. It?s a sexy, men?s magazine-style cover too, as in? Swifty looks damp, she?s wearing something tight with a some cleavage and they gave her awful bangs a windswept, JBF-look. All in all, not a terrible cover and I?m glad it?s a more natural-looking shot on a Malibu balcony as opposed to Taylor in a studio, laying on her back spread-eagle with her thumb in her mouth. GQ isn?t releasing their cover story until next week, but they?re promising a lot:
For her first-ever cover with GQ, Taylor Swift spent time with writer Chick Klosterman, giving an intense and wide-ranging interview, while dodging paparazzi and, at one point, taking a surprise call from one of the few humans who is almost as famous as she is (and still makes her start struck!).
As Klosterman writes, ?If you don?t take Swift seriously, you don?t take contemporary music seriously? There?s simply no antecedent for this kind of career: a cross-genre, youth-oriented, critically acclaimed colossus based entirely on the intuitive songwriting merits of a single female artist. It?s as if mid-period Garth Brooks was also early Liz Phair, minus the hat and the swearing. As a phenomenon, it?s absolutely new.?
[From GQ]
Garth Brooks and Liz Phair? What the what? I mean, I kind of understand the Liz Phair reference, but putting Phair together with Garth Brooks to describe Taylor Swift? No. Even when Taylor was country, she was still pop. She was still a crossover artist. I would argue that in the early part of her career, she just made twangy pop and she just dropped the twang with her past two albums. Anyway? I?m looking forward to the interview. As they say, I’m sure she did take some “surprise calls” from some of her collected A-list friends.
