Back in August, Eva Longoria was on Today to talk about Dora and the Lost City of Gold, a live-action movie that continued the story of Nickelodeons animated series, Dora the Explorer. Eva starred as Doras mom, Elena. The interview took place the Monday after the shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. Eva, who is from Texas, spoke about how the shootings impacted her, both as someone from Texas and as a mom. (Her son, Santiago, is almost a year-and-half old.) Eva said, I think that could have been my child, that could have been my mother. It?s always heartbreaking and horrifying. She also spoke about what surprises her most as a mom: What?s surprising is the anxiety I have about the world. There?s an intensity to it, like I have to leave the world a better place. That has given me a lot more fuel for my philanthropy. Eva recently spoke again about the connections between being a mom and her philanthropy, this time during the annual Eva Longoria Foundation Gala:
?The one thing I did not expect when Santi was born was the amount of anxiety I was going to have about the world. Like, everything affects me now: the news, articles and climate change,? the actress, 44, told Us Weekly and other reporters at the Eva Longoria Foundation Gala on Friday, November 15. ?Everything scares me, and my anxiety has just gone through the roof going, ?Oh, my God, I have a better place!? So, it?s made my philanthropic work more intense.?
She continued: ?It brought an insane intensity. I?m like, ?We have to save the world! Oh, my God!? I didn?t expect that. Of course, I do charity work and I do philanthropies, but now it just means so much more.?
Longoria shot down the notion that her new mindset is ?debilitating,? noting that it is instead ?healing? for her. ?Sometimes the world?s issues are so big you feel paralyzed,? she admitted. ?But I think that?s the misconception is that you have to be rich and famous to do something. And for me, every single person can do something. Like recycling or doing a charity event like this. There?s many levels of helping and doing, and so yeah, it?s sometimes overwhelming and paralyzing at the thought, but once you start doing, it?s easy.?
[From Us Weekly]
Eva founded the Eva Longoria Foundation in 2012. Its mission is to help Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. As with todays Patrick Dempsey story about the cancer center he founded in his mothers honor, I appreciate that Eva is using her power to help others. I also really love what she says about trying to redirect your thinking away from feeling stymied by the chaos of the world to doing something small, no matter what that is. I feel overwhelmed by the horrors I read about on an hourly basis (never mind daily). This is a good reminder to focus my energy on what I can do, to just pick one place to focus my energy for a bit.

| Eva Longoria to direct a biopic about the janitor who invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

This story makes me think about the fact that while I know who invented the telephone and who invented bifocals (for example), I have no idea who invented any of my favorite snacks or desserts or other foods. One of Eva Longorias upcoming directorial projects will introduce the world to the inventor of Flamin? Hot Cheetos, Richard Montaez. Deadline has the exclusive:
Multi-hyphenate Eva Longoria has landed the directing job for Flamin? Hot, the Fox Searchlight biopic about Richard Montanez [sic], who created the spicy Flamin? Hot Cheetos snack. DeVon Franklin will produce the pic under his Franklin Entertainment label, which is currently under a production deal at Fox.
Longoria reportedly beat out multiple directors for the job after impressing Franklin and Fox with her authentic approach to portraying the inspiring story of Richard and Judy Montanez [sic]. Richard rose from humble beginnings to achieve the American Dream: The son of a Mexican immigrant, Richard was a janitor at Frito-Lay when he came up with the idea for Flamin? Hot Cheetos. His creation, inspired by the flavors of his community, revitalized the company and disrupted the food industry, creating a pop culture phenomenon that continues today.
Charlie St. Cloud and October Sky scribe Lewis Colick penned the script. Zahra Phillips is overseeing the project for Franklin Entertainment, while Taylor Friedman will represent the studio. Samuel Rodriguez is the executive producer.
[From Deadline]
This is so cool! Im not a Cheetos fan (I dont hate them or love them), but I love learning about interesting people whom Ive not heard about. Also, given the atrocities being sanctioned by this administration against immigrants and other marginalized groups, Evas film could provide an excellent, compelling counter-narrative. Eva had mentioned two of her upcoming directing projects when she was presented with the HollyRod Humanitarian Award: A movie co-starring Kerry Washington and a story that she said was about the Latino community. Deadline also reported that Eva is producing My Daughter?s Quinceaera and pointed out that only one Latina in the past 12 years has directed one of the top 1200 grossing films. I wanted to find out who: Patricia Riggen, a Mexican director, who helmed 2007s Under the Same Moon. In January, the most recent USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative found that Riggen was the sole Latina among 1,355 directors attached to the 1,200 top-grossing films released between 2007 and 2018. I hope that Evas directing career takes off, and I hope that Flamin Hot does well.

| Eva Longoria on new Dora: Immigrants should be celebrated, not condemned | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Eva Longoria?s next film, Dora and The Lost City of Gold comes out August 9th. The movie is based on the popular kids TV shows that centers around a seven-year-old Latina who explores the jungle with her backpack and friend Boots, who happens to be a monkey. It?s a fun show if you have young kids but I love writing out that plot out because, well, I just don?t know many children under 10 that are left to fend for themselves in the jungle ? for fun. Eva stars as Dora?s mom. Given the Latino/Tejano influence of both the show and the movie, Eva was asked about the importance of this film in the current American political climate. Eva said since America is made up of immigrants, it?s important to celebrate them and not condemn them.
Eva commented on how important this movie is, given the current political climate. The thing I love most about America and the United States is it?s a country of immigrants. It?s something to be celebrated, not condemned, so for me, to see a movie like this that has such a great representation of our culture and who we are and our contributions the contributions of Latinos it just makes me want to celebrate and applaud something like this even more because we have to make a movie like this louder than the noise that?s being created.
[From Extra]
Obviously, I agree with Eva?s main point, which that life is so much richer when we embrace the world around us. But I want to speak specifically to Eva?s comment about a movie like this being amplified to compete with the hate being broadcast throughout the country. We talk about supporting films with smaller representation in Hollywood all the time, but this is another great aspect of that argument. It?s not just getting different faces on screen, which is incredibly important for all the reasons we?ve ever discussed, but we, unfortunately, have to combat all the nonsense coming from the Deplorables at present. Intensifying messages and themes that celebrate what immigrants have brought into our culture is a great way to drown out chants like, ?send her back.?
Since, unfortunately, the reality is that we are not celebrating immigrants enough these days, let?s do the next best thing and protect them, like this amazing group of neighbors in Tennessee who formed a human chain to protect a family from an ICE arrest. Know your rights, know their rights and let?s all celebrate each other as much as we can.

| Pregnant Eva Longoria hates brushing her teeth but loves doing her makeup | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In case you didn?t know, Eva Longoria is pregnant. Hey, it was news to me. The 42-year-old actress, philanthropist, L?Oreal spokesperson and fashionista is expecting her first child, a son, with her husband, Televisa president Jos Antonio ?Pepe? Bastn. The couple began dating in 2013 and were wed in May of last year. As soon as the two made it legal, the baby speculation began. Eva debunked the rumors in an interview with Extra at the time where she assured fans she wasn?t pregnant, stating in the most TMI kind of way, “I was just having a cheese baby,” adding,?I had a plate of cheese and apparently I’m lactose intolerant.”

| Eva Longoria in Elie Saab at Cannes amfAR gala: striking or too busy? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Eva Longoria’s Cannes fashion this year has been largely a miss and she’s been overshadowed, sometimes literally, by the models. So I was hoping for a better show from her at the amfAR gala and she just didn’t bring it. I used to like Elie Saab’s dresses and I know that’s a controversial opinion. Some of his earlier designs have been feminine and yet contemporary and you can tell that he tries to push boundaries with fashion, but lately his gowns have been a bad mix of too many trends put together. That’s the case with Eva’s gown, which might be ok if it was just those lines of Pink and silver sequins with the opaque netting in between, but then there’s that weird star pattern happening at the waist and the fact that the skirt becomes see through half way down. It just becomes too busy.
Joan Smalls was also in Elie Saab and I would like this dress much better without the giant necklace which becomes a belt. I know that adds drama but imagine it as just a necklace. The draping and cut of the dress give it interest, not the statement jewelry. I zoomed into the dress and it’s got perfect stitching along the side. I want it. Also, she looks incredible and I love the hoop earrings.
How did insta nepotism model Hailey Baldwin get the best Elie Saab? This has netting, velvet, sequins, a folded neckline and a belt and yet it’s all balanced expertly into a gorgeous dress. When Elie Saab gets it right the result is amazing. Plus the color is to die for. I can’t say the same for her styling. Do the shoes ruin it? Almost.
Damn look at Melissa George. Her gown is Schiaparelli and I love everything about this look. It’s feminine without being girly with slight touches of lace and sequins that work together perfectly. Her hair and makeup are incredible and I love the sheer panel in the skirt which reveals just enough. This is gorgeous.

Former Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria is spreading the word about balayage, and we?re listening. The 41-year-old actress, soon to appear on FOX?s Empire, is a spokesmodel for L?Oreal and has been making the rounds, talking beauty and springtime hair. She was recently spotted leaving Ken Paves’ West Hollywood salon with fresh tresses, thanks to his balayage skills. If you don?t know, balayage is a trendy new highlighting technique, where dye is painted on the hair without the use of foils to create a graduated, natural-looking effect. Eva, definitely not the only celebrity who is a fan of the technique, talked to Stylish about her current follicular state and touted the benefit of the bun as the remedy for a bad hair day. Here are some highlights:
Eva?s current hair situation: I like my blonde ends. I love my balayage, it?s less ombr, more balayage. You just kiss your hair with a little lightness, and it feels like you open up your face for spring.
Eva probably has a ?frequent shopper? card at the salon: I have a full head of gray hair, since I was, like, 18. So for me, going to the salon is every two weeks. And then I have some that peek through.
Eva?s springtime hair beauty tip: I like to air-dry my hair a lot, so I spray in a leave-in conditioner. And my hairdresser taught me just to twist this front end back and bobby pin it for an hour while it?s air-drying. When you let it go, it just frames your hair nicely, as opposed to having that air-dry sloppy look. It just looks as if it dried naturally in this beautiful shape. It?s perfect for curly hair. Do your part, brush it, twist the hair while it?s wet. Don?t twist up, twist down. Pin it and let it go when it?s still a little damp.
[From US Magazine/Stylish]
Eva showed off her new hue and sleek, long locks on Wednesday?s episode of The View, promoting L?Oreal?s new root touch up product. During the show?s ?Hot Topics? segment, the conversation kicked off by bringing up the Immigration Ban. Eva, who is a self-described ?student? of immigration reform, didn?t directly attack the POTUS, agreeing that we are ?a country of laws? but warns of the de-funding of sanctuary cities. She said, ?When you vilify an entire community ? I?m Latino, so people assume Latinos is equal with illegal, and it?s not. I?m a ninth generation [Mexican-American.]? She went on to say that the de-funding could affect homeless veterans and the country?s ports, as the same funds are used to protect them against terrorism, stating, ?You can?t just take away funds because you?re trying to prove a point of an election.?
Later, Eva talked about moving from in front of to behind the camera, directing episodes of Black-ish, Jane the Virgin and Devious Maids. She said that being a woman makes her a good director. Why? Well, according to Eva, “Being a director means you have to problem solve and answer a lot of questions and juggle things at the same time, so really only women can do that. You have people pulling at you and asking you questions. It?s just problem solving all day long.? You can see the interview below:
I do love Eva?s hair color and the whole balayage/ombr look as well. I have roots down to the middle of my head right now, do you think I could pass that off as ombr? Who knew I was so trendy? I am, after 12 weeks, going to the hairdresser next week for my first ombr ever. I?m trading in my (sort of) blonde locks for a lovely rose gold. Hopefully the results will rival Eva?s!

| Eva Longoria in Georges Hobeika at the Globes: forgettable or fine? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Eva Longoria was a presenter at last night’s Globes and she did a cute but kind of sad bit with Gina Rodriguez about being a Latina actress. Buzzfeed has a good recap of their intro, which included quips about how they’re always mistaken for other actresses. Eva said “I’m Eva Longoria, not Eva Mendes” and America said “I’m America Ferrera not Gina Rodriguez” and then they added “neither of us is Rosario Dawson” and then called each other “Salma” and “Charo.” The only comparison I have to admit I screw up is America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez. I don’t think it’s cross racial identification bias so much as the fact that they’re both young and on TV, but that must be annoying and I have no idea what that’s like.
Eva was wearing this meh white Georges Hobeika gown with cap sleeves, a stupid cut out bow at the neckline, another dumb gold bow along the waist and floral appliques along the sides of the skirt. The flowers looked out of place, especially with the bows and especially on that otherwise sleek gown. I don’t get it.
I’m including Gina Rodriguez here, and I know she’s not America Ferrera! It’s just that Kaiser already covered America Ferrera because she was wearing the same canary yellow/mustard color as Jennifer Lopez. Gina was actually in navy blue, a color I only remember seeing on Kate Winslet. (And Julianne Moore if you count metallics.) This is Zac Posen and it’s way too ballgown for my taste. The bodice is great though, if only this had a more understated skirt. Gina came with her dad, which was cute.
Finally here’s Patricia Arquette, in black and white Paule Ka, with her artist boyfriend Eric White. It looks like if you undo that bow her boobs will pop out. Arquette was a presenter. She helped start the conversation about pay equality by bringing it up in her Oscars speech last year. It’s still very much in the news, with celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence continuing the conversation and Gervais joking about it at the Globes last night.
