I enjoyed some of the performances at last night?s Grammys, but you could tell that some of those people are not real-deal live performers. That wasn?t the case with Chappell Roan, who did a very good live performance of ?Pink Pony Club.? Chappell also picked up the coveted Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The Grammys continue to give BNA to artists who have been around for several years, but whatever. I actually thought BNA would go to Sabrina Carpenter and I hoped it would go to Shaboozey, but here we go. For the red carpet, Chappell wore a 2003 Jean Paul Gaultier piece which? it?s fine. It?s her thing, to be this camp.
Sabrina Carpenter got a lot of attention for her campy vibe too she wore a custom Jonathan Anderson gown in ice blue, with some very big Chopard diamonds. I thought her look was meh and so was her performance. She did win a Grammy though Best Pop Vocal Album. Sure.
It definitely looks like Lady Gaga?s latest incarnation is Darth Gaga, or Goth Gaga. I?m here for it! Her red carpet look was Samuel Lewis.
Kacey Musgraves wore Ralph Lauren she?s so pretty, and there were some cutaways to her when Beyonce won her Grammys Kacey seemed pretty happy for Bey.
I have yet to form an opinion on Gracie Abrams, but I know she?s being pushed really hard as the next big thing. Is any of this organic? She wore Chanel last night I wish the dress was longer.

Here?s a bit of potentially fun news for my fellow action-thriller movie fans. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon?s production company, Artists Equity, is releasing an action-thriller movie on Netflix this year. The movie, RIP, is about a group of Miami police officers that discover ?millions in cash inside a derelict stash house? and, presumably, all of the chaos and betrayal that ensues afterward. When introducing the trailer for it at the 2025 Next on Netflix Special Presentation event last week, Affleck described it as ?Heat meets Narc meets Training Day.? It stars Damon, Affleck, Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, Coach Taylor Kyle Chandler, and Nestor Carbonell.
Ben Affleck stepped out to tease his action-packed thriller RIP that reunites him with Matt Damon. The actor, 52, spoke onstage at the 2025 Next on Netflix Special Presentation held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Jan. 29, introducing to attendees the first trailer for the crime thriller, directed by Joe Carnahan.
RIP, inspired by true events, also stars Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino, Nstor Carbonell and Kyle Chandler.
This movie takes a look at the things people will do for money, said Affleck at the event, adding that RIP is going for a mix of Heat meets Narc meets Training Day.
Affleck, who produced via his and Damons company Artists Equity, called the movie a really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing. It?s a compelling, complicated human drama that also hues to these elements of cinema that people have loved forever.
It?s the seventh movie that Matt Damon and my company, Artists Equity, has made, and it really is in a lot of ways the most important for us because we?ve found some really exciting partners who are really interested in not just what has been but what could be at Netflix, he continued. This is exactly the kind of film that we want to champion.
Longtime friends Affleck and Damon, 54, who grew up together in Boston, won an Oscar for writing the 1997 movie Good Will Hunting, in which they also starred, before launching major Hollywood careers on their own. Speaking to Deadline in November, they explained what inspired them to start their own production company together.
Damon said at the time, I was like, what are we doing, man? Both of us, this is what we love to do more than anything. The only thing better is doing it together, in any capacity, whether he?s directing or whether we?re acting together or whether we?re producing together, or whether we?re just facilitating for other filmmakers.
How much life do we have left and what are we going to do with it? he added.

I looked at RIP?s Netflix page (where I got the description from) and there?s no official release date listed as of right now. Honestly, I am a sucker for all of these types of movies, good and bad. I even saw Vin Diesel?s terrible movie, Bloodshot, in theaters just as everything was shutting down for the pandemic (there?s a story behind how we ended up there but we still actively choose to watch it, lol). I also watched Carry-On twice within its first week on Netflix. So yeah, I am probably the target audience for RIP. I also look forward to hearing more about the true story behind this movie because I actually really like learning more about that stuff, too. All of that said, I did draw the line at the Mel Gibson/Mark Wahlberg movie Flight Risk. That is a combination that I will never willingly watch.

Katy Perry?s latest album, 143, did not land the way she was probably hoping/expecting. She dropped the first single, ?Woman?s World,? in July, with a music video so? let?s say ?extreme,? that she had to immediately clap back to say, ?You guys, it?s SATIRE!? Then she released ?Lifetimes.? Aside from being a big nothing-burger of a song, the filming of the music video may have environmentally damaged a protected Spanish island. Dios mo. And of course there?s the Dr. Luke of it all across the whole album. But you can?t keep a California Gurl down! Katy is set to perform at the Invictus Games this month, and will kick off the Lifetimes Tour in May ? her first North American tour in seven years. And as for those pesky bad reviews 143 got, she doesn?t read them anyway! Thanks to a little advice she got from her therapist:

Speaking with PEOPLE about her newly announced Lifetimes Tour, which is in support of her album 143, the ?Hot N Cold? singer revealed she does read her album reviews ? but has found it?s best to avoid them all together.
?You shouldn?t read it when it?s good. You shouldn?t read it when it?s bad,? Perry, 40, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
She adds, ?My therapist said something that really changed my life. What anybody thinks about you is none of your business. It?s what you think about yourself.?
Despite any negative reviews, this album is about personal change ? and she hopes it can become ?the soundtrack for anyone?s life.?
?I created this album out of a real shift in my life when I became a mother, and I really tapped into that feminine divine energy. The messages on it are celebratory. They?re about love,? Perry says of the album?s creation.
The ?Dark Horse? performer continues, ?I have an incredible identity that I?ve been able to create since COVID, when a lot changed for so much. So the album really just celebrates love and this unconditional love that I have been looking for my whole life and never really knew it existed. That was a clich, and it?s actually true.?
During an appearance on Call Her Daddy in September, Perry addressed criticism over working with Lukasz ?Dr. Luke? Gottwald ? who worked on some of her biggest hits like ?I Kissed a Girl,? ?California Gurls? and ?Teenage Dream? and was involved in nearly a decade-long legal battle with Kesha.
?I understand that it started a lot of conversations and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me,? Perry said of the producer. ?The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers. I am speaking from my own experience.?

?What anybody thinks about you is none of your business.? That IS excellent advice? And still 143 is not a great album. Both are true! Katy has every right to shield herself from the reviews, but I think it would?ve behooved her to listen to someone, somewhere during the writing and recording process, before 143 was released as it is. And along those lines, was there really no one in Katy?s orbit who cautioned her that working with Dr. Luke was a bad idea? No one? Anyone? Bueller? And her comments on Call Her Daddy were weird, right? She kept harping on the songs coming from her, but I didn?t think the issue was whether Dr. Luke wrote Katy?s songs. It was the fact that she sought out the credibly-accused rapist/abuser as a collaborator to begin with. But I guess what anybody thinks about Dr. Luke is none of Katy?s business.

Ever since Kanye West married Bianca Censori, he?s made/encouraged her to wander around the world in little more than a pair of pantyhose. It?s been a thing for a while now Bianca is constantly being photographed with her various bits and pieces out and on display. Some have theorized that Kanye is sending a message to Kim Kardashian, the message being ?I have a new Real Doll now,? I think. But I think the larger message is that Bianca has a cult-like devotion to Kanye and this whole thing is toxic as hell.
Anyway, Kanye and Bianca walked the Grammys red carpet last night. They arrived early-ish on the carpet, with Bianca wearing a fur coat at first. Then she dramatically removed her coat and posed in a bodystocking which left nothing to the imagination, all while Kanye stood there fully clothed. They posed like that for a while, and then there was some confusion about what happened next. At first, Entertainment Tonight reported that Grammy organizers escorted Kanye and Bianca off the carpet and kicked them out of the show because they weren?t even invited. But Variety?s Grammy source insisted that Kanye and Bianca were not thrown out or escorted out, that Kanye simply ?walked the carpet, got in his car and left.? TMZ also had this:
Kanye West and Bianca Censori made quite the splash on the Grammys red carpet and while several reports claim their antics got them booted, TMZ has learned thats not the case.
A source close to the Recording Academy tells TMZ Kanye was an invited guest nominated for Best Rap Song this year and he wasnt forcibly removed from the event.
Were told he walked the red carpet, got in his car of his own volition and then left police and Grammys security never got involved. We reached out to police just to see if they ever got a call about the incident BTW and our law enforcement sources say no one ever complained about Censoris revealing ensemble.

Oh, so he was invited? That?s surprising, and I didn?t realize that he was nominated as well. That explains the red carpet stunt. I guess Kanye didn?t want to stick around and pull focus with his wife even with the Grammy nomination, Kanye is still very canceled to a lot of people in that room.

Taylor Swift had a nice vibe at the Grammys last night. Travis Kelce did not attend as her date, he?s still preparing for the Super Bowl (this coming weekend), so Taylor was just there to rep her album, The Tortured Poets Department and its six Grammy nominations. She was also there to hang out with friends and, as it turns out, cheer for two of her favorite people in music: Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. Taylor ended up losing in all six categories in which she was nominated, but she presented Beyonce with the Best Country Album Grammy and she shared a toast with Jay-Z when Beyonce won Album of the Year. Swift was also super-happy for Kendrick when he won Record of the Year for ?Not Like Us.?
Throughout the night she made zero costume changes Taylor wore a fire-red Vivienne Westwood corseted minidress. It was flattering and pretty, and a little bit sexy. I?ve made my peace with the fact that she?s not a huge risk-taker when it comes to fashion, and this feels entirely in her comfort zone. My one complaint is that it?s a bit ice-skater-chic, but again, that?s Taylor. She loves that ?ice dancer princess? look. One sexy element was a delicate chain on her thigh with a charm with the initial ?T?- for Taylor or for Travis.
Are the Swifties mad that Taylor didn?t win another AOTY? I hope not I think if she had lost to someone other than Beyonce, they might feel some kind of way about it, but given Taylor?s clear happiness for her friend, I hope the truce between fandoms holds. Yes, another AOTY win would have been historic, but it was also a historic snub that Beyonce hadn?t won an AOTY Grammy before last night.
