Alright, y?all, it?s happening!!! Ryan Gosling is going to be performing ?I?m Just Ken? at the Oscars. We hoped and dreamed and manifested it into existence! Okay, maybe I?m being a little bit dramatic and a whole lotta extra here, but I?m stoked at this news. The performance will be a part of the tradition that each nominated song in the Best Original Song category is showcased as a part of the ceremony. Let?s f?ing goooo!
According to multiple reports, Ryan Gosling is set to perform his Barbie ballad, Im Just Ken, at the forthcoming ceremony. ET has reached out to his reps. Its unclear if the performance will include Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who wrote the catchy tune.
Gosling (who played Ken) will reportedly perform in tradition with the broadcast as all of the songs nominated in the Best Original Song category are performed during the ceremony. Its been a banner year for the song (which snagged Gosling his first Billboard Hot 100 placement) and won a Critics Choice Award (to Goslings surprise).
Still, Goslings performance of the hit Barbie song will mark the first time he performs it this awards season. Though it was nominated for a GRAMMY, he did not take the stage at the show.
In the months following the films release, fans have eagerly been wondering if Gosling would take the stage. Earlier this month, Gosling revealed that he would be down to perform the song live he just hadnt been asked to.
It might be too much of a risk to have me do it, the 43-year-old told Variety. I dont know how that would work. But Im open to it.
Gosling is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as Ken. Collectively, Barbie is nominated for a grand total of eight awards during the biggest night in film, including nominations in the Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay categories.
[From ET Online]
I feel the Kenergy already, baby. I hope they let him perform a good portion of the original version of the song, with dancers and everything. That would be absolutely epic. Oh! And let?s just keep it to just ?I?m Just Ken,? and not try any cutesy, funny business. None of that ?Here?s a small sample of the song as a part of an overall medley? crap. I remember being so excited about the cast of Encanto singing ?We Don?t Talk About Bruno? at the 2022 Oscars, only to be a little let down with how it was done.
Also, I was today years old when I learned that Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt also co-wrote ?Shallow? for A Star is Born, which won Best Original Song back in 2019. That ceremony and the Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper performance feels like a whole other lifetime ago. And while I don?t think ?I?m Just Ken? is going to win (I predict that honor will go to Billie Eilish?s ?What Was I Made For??), Id like to thank the Academy for nominating it and giving us all the gift of watching Ryan perform it live. We?re the real winners here.

Over the past week, photo agencies have been getting a lot of photos from the Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Margot is Barbie, Ryan is Ken. The supporting cast is bonkers and some of the actors have said that the script (cowritten by Greta Gerwig) is amazing. The set photos from LA and Venice Beach have the look, feel and energy of dolls coming to life. I guess that?s what we?re supposed to feel? Like, childhood excitement that our childhood Barbie dolls have come to life. But doesn?t that sound really unsettling? My God.
Anyway, these are photos of Ryan and Margot roller-blading through Venice Beach, with director Margot Robbie filming them. Again, no one has any idea what the fking plot is. David Mack at Buzzfeed wrote a hilarious piece about that, how none of the script has leaked and no one has any gdamn idea what the film is actually supposed to be about. But hey, Margot absolutely looks like a Barbie doll come to life. I am enjoying how Ryan seems? happy. He seems amused by this.
My guess about the plot is that it resembles Enchanted someone casts a spell and the dolls ?come to life? and begin living out in the world and interacting with people outside of BarbieWorld. I would guess that Barbie realizes that Ken is a dud and she ends up with a man of substance, maybe. She learns lessons and she teaches normal people to embrace their inner childhood or something.

The Barbie movie has already gone through some changes at first, Amy Schumer was attached to play Barbie and she was working on the script or story too. But Schumer wanted the film to be more of a send-up or parody of everything Barbie represents, while Warner Bros wanted something? else. Once Schumer exited the movie, Margot Robbie came in as star and producer. Greta Gerwig is directing, and Gerwig and Noah Baumbach (her lover) wrote the script together.
In any case, I never really paid attention to the casting news beyond Margot. So I forgot until this moment that Ryan Gosling was cast as Ken. THE Ken. The blonde doll. Warners Bros released this photo of Gosling-as-Ken and everyone is obsessed with his peroxide hair and orange abs. I hope the script is smart and insightful I would imagine it would be if Gosling agreed to this. I think the part I?m obsessed with the most is the fact that he has Ken-branded underwear? Like Calvin Klein, only Ken.
The rest of the cast is great too. The cast includes: Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Nicola Coughlan, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera and Emma Mackey (perhaps as a villainous brunette).
Some funny tweets about Ken are below. One of my faves was ?He looks like a tik toker with allegations.? I also enjoyed all of ?Yassified Gosling? stuff. Honestly, to me, he looks so skeevy as Ken, and not the ?hot skeevy? way I usually enjoy. He genuinely looks like a U-haul Proud Boy.
And just to be clear, this isn?t Ken the toy. This is the origin story of the human Ken that the toy is based on.

Ryan Gosling is on the promotional trail for his upcoming (and sightly controversial) Neil Armstrong biopic First Man, which was filmed partially in Atlanta. The film reunited Ryan with La La Land director Damien Chazelle and tells the story of the famed astronaut and the Apollo 11 space mission.
We all know that Ryan?s a pretty decent actor, but his performance in the upcoming film was enough to convince his two daughters that he would be a really awesome person to bring in for their school?s career day.
On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor recalled a day when his kids with Eva Mendes, four-year-old Esmerelda and two-year-old Amada, came to visit him on set while he was shooting a launch scene. He told Jimmy, ?So I was in the space suit and pretending to launch. I think they think I?m an astronaut now.? In fact, he believes that Esmerelda is truly convinced, noting, ?My oldest said the other day, she pointed to the moon and she was like, ?That?s where you work, right??? Too cute.
Also during the interview, Ryan talked about going to his mother?s destination wedding in Italy. Ryan?s new stepfather is Roman, and he recalled that during the service, these wonderful older Italian women [were] just whispering to me about food.? He recalled that at one point, a woman said to him, ?There?s a tortellini in the freezer.? And towards the vows, another woman shared, ?There?s a smoked mozzarella in the fridge,? adding, ?it?s from Naples.? When Jimmy asked if he tried the cheese, he said he did, asserting ?It was like an angel crying on your tongue.? I?m assuming that?s a good thing.
The actor also recently had the chance to speak with Drew Feustel who is the commander of the current mission, Expedition 56, on the International Space Station. Feustal said that the space walks were ?incredible? and then showed Ryan, via camera, the bathroom on the space station. Ryan and Jimmy assumed that?s probably the thing people wanted to know most about living in space, but Ryan said he had no interest in learning about the ?number two tube.? He then witnessed a ?bartering system? between a pair of Russian cosmonauts and the US crew on the ISS, apparently the Russians were trying to trade some cream cheese for ?American space shrimp.? Ryan joked that he assumed the shrimp were something special, whispering to Jimmy, ?It?s from Naples.? Nice callback, Ryan.
He?s a charmer, and he gives great interview, doesn?t he? I?ve been a fan since Crazy, Sexy Love. I definitely want to check out First Man, and not because I?m fascinated by space bathrooms.

| ?Blade Runner 2049' did poorly at the box office because the ladies didn't show up | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I keep talking about how my mojo is off this year when it comes to predicting the critical response to certain films, and predicting the box office openings. Some recent examples: I thought that LEGO Ninjago movie was going to make bank, but it bombed; I thought ‘mother!’ would do well at the box office, but it didn’t; I worried that Wonder Woman would flop, but it?s one of the biggest movies of the year. Well, my instincts/mojo were kind of right about Blade Runner 2049. I kept seeing all of this hype for the film and I just kept thinking? but are people really excited to see it? The box office predictions were skyrocketing last week though, with B.O. experts claiming that the film would make $100 million or more in the opening weekend. Those experts were certainly helped along by the wall-to-wall positive critical response too. So what happened? MY MOJO IS BACK! Blade Runner 2049 did not do well.
It boasted an all-star cast and was touted as a future classic by critics, but Blade Runner 2049 has failed to live up to lofty expectations at the US box office, making substantially less than expected in ticket sales. The big-budget sequel to the seminal 1982 sci-fi movie took $31.5m on its opening weekend, a significantly lower figure than the $45m to $50m figure projected by its studio Warner Bros. The film, which is directed by Canadian film-maker Denis Villeneuve, is estimated to have cost over $150m to make.
?I?m disappointed we didn?t have a larger result this weekend on behalf of the owners of the film, Alcon,? said Jeff Goldstein, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros. ?We had bigger expectations for the weekend. The tracking and the advance sales indicated that there would be a stronger number.?
Hollywood analysts have suggested that the film?s struggles were a result of its inability to attract women and younger viewers: 71% of the audience for 2049, which stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, was male and 86% of it was over 25. Other factors that may contributed to its failure include a lengthy run time of 163 minutes, which limited the number of screenings in cinemas, and its dark, adult tone.
?It?s an intellectually charged, apocalyptic sci-fi story. It?s not Close Encounters, it?s not Star Wars. It?s a challenging film. To me, those are the best type of films,? said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore. ?But does it make it the most commercial? No. It was creatively and thematically perfectly executed ? but it didn?t play to the numbers everyone thought.?
[From The Guardian]
I was going to make a joke about how women don?t really want to see a movie about a dystopian nightmare because we?re already living in that world, but really? women will support dystopian sci-fi projects (films, TV shows). Women will support those projects if there?s a strong feminist element, like The Handmaid?s Tale or Mad Max: Fury Road. What women saw from the promotion of BR2049 was that it was made by and for men. Even the ?creator? of these fake humans was a man (played by Jared Leto). I also think this shows that Ryan Gosling has never really been a huge box office draw, right? Even the combination of Harrison Ford plus Gosling didn?t mean much.

I keep telling you guys, my mojo is really ?off? this year when it comes to box office predictions and Rotten Tomato scores. Pretty much every film that I think looks terrible is some kind of critical darling and it makes a lot of money. Every film that I think looks good has been bombing. So it is with Blade Runner 2049. I kept seeing all of the hype machine stuff for the film, and I kept thinking, ?yeah, but is anyone really interested?? It just seemed like a gigantic shrug to me. But the film is currently sitting at 94% at Rotten Tomatoes, and critics absolutely love it. Box office predictors say that the film will open with $100 million worldwide, possibly more, and that this could be the biggest film of Ryan Gosling?s career. So? once again, I was wrong. People are into it. Dystopian future films are the future!
Anyway, all of that to say that I haven?t been paying close attention to the promotional tour of Blade Runner 2049. Ryan Gosling is always pretty charming, but Harrison Ford is such a grumpy bastard, I just thought? there will be no spark as they try to promote this film together. Once again, I was wrong! They are delightful together. Their joint interviews have been hilarious and silly and they have great chemistry together. Take this clip from last weekend?s Graham Norton Show:
Very cute. But that was just a precursor to this absolutely amazing joint interview with Alison Hammond on This Morning (Gosling and Ford were shilling this movie in Britain and Europe for weeks). Please watch this, because you?ll be laughing through the entire clip. Hammond is HILARIOUS and she gets Ford and Gosling so loose.
I don?t think I?ve seen Harrison so lively and off-the-cuff in a long time. This honestly is the best thing I?ve seen all week!

| Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling secretly married, 'infatuated with each other' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hey girl, while you were mourning the Year That Love Died (credit: Hecate), Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling affirmed their relationship by secretly getting married! This makes me happier than it otherwise would, especially considering that we always have to use these turban photos of them together and I never really cared about them as a couple. Somehow they went underground with their relationship after a very paparazzi-friendly courtship and now they have two kids together and have made it official. They got married at some indeterminate date “earlier this year” attended by friends and family and yet we’re only just learning about it now. I love this and how under the radar they’ve been. They only come out to promote stuff and they’re not over the top about their love at all.
US Magazine has this story and they feature Eva and Ryan’s secret wedding as a sidebar on the cover. Jana Kramer, a country singer and DWTS contestant I’ve barely heard of, takes the cover with her confessional about being married to a sex addict. This just brings home to me how much US, and also People, have missed the boat with their covers this week in the wake of the Brangelina split. It’s like Angelina dropped the divorce news in time for the celebrity outlets to pick it up too and no one was agile enough. Here’s US’s story and it’s just a blurb really with some nice quotes Ryan gave about his older daughter earlier this month:
The La La Land actor and his love of five years, Eva Mendes, quietly tied the knot earlier this year among a small group of family and friends, multiple sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly.
?Eva and Ryan have always felt like a married couple,? says a source close to Mendes, who starred in the 2012 drama, The Place Beyond the Pines, with Gosling. ?They are infatuated with each other.?
And their little brood. While he worked in Toronto September 12, Gosling?s mind kept drifting back home to his girls. ?I?m a lucky man,? the 35-year-old gushed to Us of Mendes, 42, and their daughters, Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 4 months, at the Toronto International Film Festival. ?We couldn?t be happier. They are so sweet.?
Gosling is also protective of his leading ladies. ?I take my little girl to the park, and we always write her name in chalk, and some kid has been erasing her name and writing their name over it,? he revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May. “And this kid has access to an unfair amount of chalk. My little girl doesn’t care; she’s like, ‘Well, let’s just chalk anywhere else.’ And I’m like, ‘No! They’re disrespecting your mother because she gave you this name, and they’re erasing it. So the only way to really get back at them is to erase their name. And not disrespect their mother, but definitely put her on notice.’”
[From US Magazine]
You know what makes me think that these two are the real deal? (Other than the fact that they haven’t been doing a ton of photo ops or gushing about each other?) The nice story about how Ryan rented Frank Sinatra’s former Palm Springs resort for Eva for her birthday earlier this year. They brought their daughter with them too, which just shows that they’re a close family. (Their youngest wasn’t born yet.) Plus Ryan did say, very briefly last year, that Eva was the “the person I?m supposed to be with.” Congratulations to Eva and Ryan! I hope they agree on parenting issues.

Ryan Gosling covers the latest issue of ES Magazine (the Evening Standard?s in-house mag) to promote The Nice Guys, I?m assuming. Ryan?s promotional tour for The Nice Guys was simultaneous with the confirmation that not only was his girlfriend Evan Mendes secretly pregnant AGAIN, but that Eva had already secretly given birth to another daughter. Ryan now lives in a house with three women: Eva and their two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada. I bet there are more women in his house though, because Eva has a mother, aunties, cousins, etc. I bet Ryan is surrounded by ladies every time he goes home. And Ryan is fine with that. As he tells ES Magazine, women are better than men.
On his move to comedic work: ?What?s nice with comedy is that you know it?s working if it?s funny. With drama you can watch people in the wings [of a theatre] and you don?t know if they are suffering [with you] through your movie or they are just deeply bored. A long time ago I went to see a shrink and he wrote me a prescription that said: ?Do comedy.??
On the fan hype that surrounds him: ?It?s our time as men to be on the receiving end of the stick. I grew up with women so I?ve always been aware of it. When my mother and I walked to the grocery store, men would circle the block in cars. It was very, very scary, especially as a young boy. Very predatory ? a hunt.?
Being surrounded by women: ?I think women are better than men. They are stronger, more evolved. You can tell especially when you have daughters and you see their early stages, they are just leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately.?
What percent ?woman? is Ryan? “I’d say 49 percent, sometimes 47 percent, it depends on what day you catch me.”
On who should be the next POTUS: “I think it needs a woman’s touch. I’ve always liked women more. I was bought up by my mother and older sister? My home life now is mostly women. They are better than us. They make me better.”
[From ES Magazine]
So is Ryan Gosling ?woke?? I know some of you hate that term, but I think it applies here. Gosling is a woke dude. A woke bae, if you will. He?s happiest when he?s surrounded by women. He thinks women are smarter than men. He thinks women are more evolved. He thinks America needs a woman president. And he?s fine with memes, because Hey, Girl, this is what a woke bae looks like.

I will never stop using the turban photos. Just FYI.
Ryan Gosling is currently promoting The Big Short, the true story of how a handful of dudes figured out that the American housing market was going to crash and burn in 2008. Gosling has not been front and center during the promotion, although? no one has. Gosling hasn?t gotten any magazine covers, but neither has Brad Pitt (the producer/star) or Christian Bale or Steve Carrel. This was supposed to be an Oscar-bait movie, but it really doesn?t feel like anyone is pushing it hard. Which is possibly why Gosling is finally giving up some details about what life is like with Eva Mendes and their daughter Esmeralda.
Ryan Gosling is a proud father, partner and, of course, Canuck. ?I love being Canadian,? he tells us, adding, ?I think growing up in Canada gives you a world perspective that I certainly enjoy.?
The 35-year-old actor recently sat down with Hello! for an exclusive chat about celebrating the holidays with longtime love Eva Mendes and their adorable one-year-old daughter, Esmeralda.
?This will be our first Christmas where [Esmeralda is] sort of taking it all in, so that?s exciting,? gushed the handsome actor, who welcomed his daughter in September 2014. One thing the Notebook star isn?t as excited about is his mother?s choice in holiday tunes. ?She?s obsessed with the Hanson Christmas album! No disrespect to Hanson, they?re very talented kids, but I think I?ve heard that record enough. I?m sure it will be on a loop this Christmas as well.?
Fatherhood has come easy for Ryan, who says it’s ?not rocket science.? And as much love and devotion as he has for his baby girl, the star is just as besotted with her mom, Eva. ?I know that I?m with the person I?m supposed to be with,? he says, adding that the only quality he looks for in a woman is “that she?s Eva Mendes. There?s nothing else I?m looking for.?
[From Hello Canada]
Wow. That?s the most he?s ever said about his girlfriend/partner of more than four years. And I guess he wants to push back on the near-constant rumors that he and Eva are done, that they?re barely co-parenting, that he?s spending a lot of time with Emma Stone. Ryan believes Eva is ?the person I?m supposed to be with.? So there you go, Hey Girls. Fatherhood is not rocket science. He loves being a Canadian. He?s supposed to be with Eva. He hates the Hanson Christmas album. Damn, this was a good interview from Gosling.
Gosling will be hosting this weekend?s SNL, and they released a bunch of promos:
