Over the weekend, we discussed the bizarre rumor/report that Sarah Ferguson had a friends-with-benefits situation with Sean Combs. Allegedly, this was in the early-to-mid aughts, when Combs was one of the most famous artist/producers in the world and most people didn?t know about his predatory behavior. This story comes via Andrew Lownie?s paperback edition of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York. Lownie has already gotten a lot of stuff wrong, but because he?s detailing Prince Andrew and Sarah?s decades of terrible behavior, people want to believe that he?s gotten everything correct (he has not). Well, Lownie has more about Sarah and how she genuinely wanted to marry Jeffrey Epstein, how she slept with financial benefactors and how she?s always been a constant stream of TMI.
Sarah was so desperate for money she offered to work as a house assistant to [Jeffrey Epstein], calling him a ?legend?. ?I am at your service,? she said. ?Just marry me.?
A Palace source emphasised that Sarah always gravitated to being with the bad boy: ?Look at her long history; every man she dated or associated with had a controversial past ? they all have sleazy and chequered pasts. She likes to live on the edge. She can?t settle down with a good man. It would bore her to tears.?
?Fergie made no secret how she wanted to marry someone in the US who was wealthy and powerful,? a Palm Beach friend of Epstein said. ?If Jeffrey popped the question, she would have said yes. Even after? he was convicted of being a sex offender. She had a reputation for being an opportunist and for sleeping with wealthy men.?
One of Sarah?s long-serving personal assistants confirmed that Sarah tended to sleep not just with her fantasy figures but with her financial benefactors.
Life with the duchess was ?chaotic?, said the assistant, who in common with other staff members had problems getting paid. They often had to buy things using their own credit cards. Sarah herself drew on Beatrice?s credit card constantly and paid one psychic in cigarettes. She rarely paid for anything, expecting to be given products for free or be entertained by friends.
In spite of that, the money poured out. Sarah maintained an apartment on the Upper East Side in New York. Personal trainers waited on call but were never used and one person was employed just to organise all the tablets Sarah took.
Sarah talked endlessly about having messed up her relationship with Diana and about her love of the Queen ? she hated Philip and Edward ? and her parents. The assistant was struck by her immaturity. ?She had this constant need to be wanted, with the result that she had no boundaries.?
She has talked up her relationship with the Queen but according to a royal source, the monarch ?repeatedly trashed Fergie? behind the scenes.
The source said: ?Several people, notably the Queen, ex-Prince Andrew and Prince Charles, were aware of her activities for years but turned a blind eye to protect the family from more scandal.?

While I hate it when the British tabloids draw endless comparisons between Andrew and Fergie and the Sussexes, I?d just like to point out that *this* is what they always had planned for Prince Harry and Meghan. They wanted and expected to always be able to control Harry and Meghan financially, and to have them connected to various sleazy, compromised figures. As much as the Windsors are wringing their hands over ?what to do about the Yorks,? the Windsors largely facilitated Andrew and Fergie?s ?bad behavior? because it made them easier to control, and because the Yorks? bad behavior made the rest of the Windsors look better by comparison. As for the larger story of Sarah?s bad decision making? as I?ve said before, this feels less like ?Sarah is just a bad person? and more like some kind of clinical problem. For decades, she?s pissed away a dozen fortunes and made loathsome decisions. It?s likely some kind of personality disorder, IMO. Which makes it especially jarring that Fergie had the remarkably smart inclination to get the hell out of the UK late last year.

Princess Eugenie announced her pregnancy last week. She?s expecting her third, with husband Jack Brooksbank. Interestingly, Eugenie allowed Buckingham Palace to make the announcement or confirmation, and the palace?s statement very carefully avoided saying the names of Eugenie?s parents. I mean, Eugenie?s father was arrested in February and Eugenie?s mother has been on the run and in hiding abroad for the better part of five months. I don?t blame anyone for not including Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson?s names in the pregnancy announcement. Allegedly, Eugenie didn?t even tell her father the pregnancy news Andrew reportedly found out in a phone conversation with Sarah. This is all according to the Mail, which had several big stories about the House of York this weekend, almost all of which were centered on Eugenie?s pregnancy and how the knives are out for the Yorks.
Eugenie wondered about how to announce her pregnancy: The Mail on Sunday can exclusively reveal that the Palace became involved in issuing a formal proclamation only after Eugenie?s cousin Zara Tindall, one of the few to have been entrusted with the news, persuaded her to write to the King. A royal source has told me that Eugenie did so via an Easter card accompanied by a carefully written letter sent to her uncle. ?She and Jack were quite surprised by the warmth of the Palace response,? says the well-placed source, who claims that while the King is reported to feel protectively towards his nieces, they have seen little real sign of it in recent months?.The couple had feared a frostier reception and had been contemplating making a media announcement of their own without the Palace being involved, but the King made contact and asked his officials to make a formal announcement.? That proclamation, the MoS has learned, was purposefully delayed to ensure it didn?t overshadow the King and Queen?s recent overseas trip to the US and Bermuda.
Camilla wants the Yorks obliterated! But if the King?s kind-hearted response was something of a surprise then so too was the absence of Queen Camilla?s name from the congratulatory missive. Queen Camilla, the MoS has been told, is among those ?leading the anti-York faction?, closely followed by Prince William, who remains furious at the way his uncle?s misdemeanours have cast a shadow across the monarchy he will one day inherit. According to the source: ?She took a back seat on the scandal for quite a while out of deference to the King?s familial loyalties and to his health. But as the King?s health has improved she was instrumental in pushing him to act.? More recently, she is said to have formed the opinion that Eugenie, who is a director of Mayfair art gallery Hauser & Wirth, and Beatrice should stop using their titles, albeit on a voluntary basis.
Eugenie hasn?t been in contact with her father in months: Eugenie is said to have left it to her scandal-ridden mother to share news of a new Baby Brooksbank by phone with her 66-year-old father, the erstwhile Duke of York. While Fergie was one of the first to hear of the pregnancy, I am told that Eugenie has not been in touch with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since he was stripped of his titles and kicked out of Royal Lodge in Windsor. ?Andrew found out that he was to be a grandpa again via Sarah,? says the source.
Sarah & Andrew aren?t issuing statements: ?Sarah is in hiding, so it wouldn?t have been appropriate for her to talk about the expected baby publicly,? one of her old friends said last week. ?But of course she was one of the first to hear the news, directly from Eugenie. They spoke at length. This is what mothers and daughters do.?
How Prince William feels: Prince William, too, is said to be concerned about his cousins? links to Epstein, a subject on which both have maintained an uncomfortable silence. According to the source: ?William was keen to keep the girls close and not let them be tainted by the sins of their father and the stupidity of both parents, but the Epstein revelations mean he has abandoned that plan. The way he and Kate have pointedly not publicly welcomed the baby news is a sign of how things have changed.?
Line of succession: The impending arrival of Eugenie?s third child has also heaped further pressure on the ongoing debate about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor?s place in the line of succession. Calls for him to be removed have extended to suggestions that the entire House of York, including Beatrice, Eugenie and their descendants, should suffer the same brutal fate. While Eugenie is currently 12th in line to the throne, her new baby will be 15th, displacing Prince Edward who, unlike his nieces, is a working royal, clocking up 313 official engagements in 2025.
Camilla wants all of them out of the line of succession: The Queen has apparently concluded that all of the Yorks, including Beatrice, Eugenie and their children, should be excluded from the royal line. ?Her attitude is that they are all a stain on the monarchy,? says the source. However, when it comes to his younger brother, the King is said to be caught between a rock and a hard place.

The drumbeat of ?eliminate all of the Yorks from the line of succession? is getting louder by the day, especially given that Eugenie?s Baby #3 will soon be ahead of Prince Edward and Princess Anne in the succession. While I think it?s likely that, in the next few years, Andrew will be removed from the line of succession, I kind of doubt that King Charles will remove Eugenie, Beatrice and their children. Now, a Scooter King might try, and when he does well, say goodbye to the whole royal blood is magic thing. If someone can be removed from the succession just because their father is a degenerate criminal, then the line of the succession is going to have to remove a lot of people. The fact that Camilla is in some dark corner, leading the anti-York contingency is certainly interesting too, because Camilla used to be a great cheerleader for both Andrew and Sarah just a few years ago. Anyway, I?ve argued that both Eugenie and Beatrice need to get the hell out of there and I still believe it. Fk those titles and fk royal privilege. Just get out of there and start new lives with your families.

While 2019 felt like it was dominated by news, gossip and scandal around the Duchess of Sussex, the truth is that she didn?t actually do a huge number of ?events? or official royal engagements. Meghan?s first full year as a royal included one big tour (the African tour), one small official overseas trip (Morocco), the British Vogue guest-editorship, the separation of the royal offices, trips to Wimbledon and the US Open to watch Serena William play, and the Smart Set collection for charity. And, she was pregnant and on maternity leave too. And a ton more, honestly. So how is it that Meghan only did 83 official events in 2019? Especially compared to Kate?s number: 126. Kate wasn?t on maternity leave this year at any point, although she did take that ?sympathy maternity leave? with Meghan, just as William?s rose-bush controversy was everywhere. Kate simply disappeared for like five or six weeks this year, do you remember that? Anyway, all of this to say, the official year-end event numbers have been released. Prince Charles is the hardest-working member of the family:
The Prince of Wales has been crowned the hardest working royal of 2019, due to the number of engagements he?s carried out this year. Impressively, Charles attended 521 functions this year ? beating his sister Princess Anne for the first time. The princess still carried out 506 events in 2019 ? which is still an exceptional effort. Prince Charles and Princess Anne have taken on more official engagements since the Queen and Prince Phillip started reducing their outings in the mid-1990s.
Despite being 93-years-old, the Queen attended 295 engagements in 2019, while Prince William carried out 220 and the Duchess of Cambridge went to 126.
Harry and Meghan also managed an incredible figure, considering they welcomed their son, Archie, this year. Prince Harry carried out 201 royal engagement and Meghan ? who was on maternity leave for much of the year ? still attended 83.
Following the Jeffery Epstein scandal, Prince Andrew was forced to step down from royal duties in November. He totalled 274 events in 2019 ? his lowest count in 20 years.

Wait, Andrew managed to do 274 events? Where? When? Because Charles had already begun to edit Andrew out of royal work for years prior to this year?s Epstein drama. And Andrew basically took the whole summer off, and I know that because I was paying attention to his movements he spent a chunk of time in Scotland with the Queen, he went on a golfing holiday with Fergie in Spain, and his events kept getting canceled after Epstein?s death. How in the world did he manage to ?do? almost 300 events? I call bullst on that. I also call bullst on Meghan?s number I think she?s done a lot of work which doesn?t ?count? as an official engagement. Like, did the British Vogue stuff count as ONE event? Meanwhile, Kate was milking her Back to Nature for months with multiple ?events.?

Shall we listen to it again? I put Fergie?s absolutely terrible singing in the links yesterday, and apparently everyone wanted to talk about how she butchered it. Fergie performed the anthem just before the NBA All-Star game got underway. Instead of taking a knee or singing along, most of the basketball players and celebrities were looking around like ?WTF is happening?? Let?s watch the video again:
It?s one of those performances that goes bad from the very first words. Like, as soon as she breathy-sings ?oh say can you see,? most people were already like ?Oh nooooo.? So, Fergie heard all of the criticisms and shade. So she actually released a full-on official statement/apology for the performance:
?I?ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I?m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn?t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.?

That?s not really an apology, first of all. Second of all? do we really need an apology? I mean, she didn?t actually disgrace anything. She just did a really dumb version of the anthem, but it?s not like she grabbed her crotch and spit on the floor. She didn?t hump the flag or set fire to our nation’s most precious resource, LeBron James. She just sang poorly. But she tried. So no, I don?t think she really needs to apologize, which is good news because she didn?t apologize with this statement. It?s fine. Whatever.

At the time, she seemed like the messy one, and he seemed like he was more of a straight-arrow type. Years later, and I now think they?re both pretty messy and I?m astonished that they were able to hold it together for eight years of marriage. Fergie and Josh announced their split on Thursday, and please don?t take this as a signal that love is dead. If anything, this shows you that love (and looking the other way at your partner?s sketchy extracurriculars) can actually win out for eight years, against all the odds.
After eight years of marriage, Fergie and Josh Duhamel are going their separate ways, they confirm to PEOPLE exclusively.
?With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,? the couple said in a joint statement. ?To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.?
The couple ? who share a 4-year-old son, Axl ? have been honest about the joys and challenges of parenting together.

When I was looking for photos of them as a family, I found some from June of this year, with Fergie and Josh taking Axl to church in LA. So? whatever happened between them, they really aren?t at each other?s throats. And whatever happened, they?re keeping it out of the press right now, which is good. These are some photos from The Casamigos Halloween party, held by Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber Saturday night in Beverly Hills. Bedhead has more photos from the party here. My favorite couple of the night were Josh Duhamel and Fergie, who cleverly dressed as Karl Lagerfeld and his beloved Siamese, Choupette. This is an inspired costume choice and it makes me wonder how they came up with it. They accessorized with plenty of Chanel, of course. Brilliant!
My second favorite couple was probably Channing Tatum and his wife, Jenna Dewan, who went as a traditional Cat in The Hat and a sexy Cat in The Hat. A sexy Cat in The Hat seems rather boring to me, but at least it’s inoffensive.
Speaking of offensive, here’s Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna. Harry is dressed as the late Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols and Lisa is his combative heroin addict girlfriend, Nancy. Harry stupidly chose to replicate Sid’s red Nazi swastika t-shirt. He would have been more recognizable with a “God Save The Queen” shirt or something that said Sex Pistols on it, but he wanted to be controversial. Note that the symbol on Harry’s shirt isn’t a true Nazi swastika, it’s not rotated to the side like that version, it’s closer to the original benign Hindu and Buddhist symbol, but it’s styled to look like the Nazi one. This is easily recognized as some kind of twisted homage to the Nazi symbol while being oriented in a way that doesn’t make it an actual Nazi symbol. It’s obnoxious and Hamlin should have known better.
The next day Hamlin went out in a red shirt with a peace symbol on it.
Let’s move on Elisabetta Canalis in a Che Guevara costume, complete with thigh high boots and a machine gun. If you’re going to dress as a famous male, commit to it. Don’t do “sexy,” you’re supposed to be a guy! Wear a beard, wear loose dirty clothes and actually look like the person. That was not the objective here obviously. Canalis had a baby four weeks ago and she wants us to know how hot she looks now. It’s weird to me that Clooney’s ex was invited to this party though. She must still be friendly with Crawford and Gerber. Canalis seems more Crawford’s speed than Amal, you know what I mean? (Update: While The Daily Mail reports that Canalis is dressed as Che Guevara, she’s possibly wearing a Patty Hearst costume, which would make more sense.)

The ?Fergalicious? songstress told the Summer 2015 issue of Glam Belleza Latina, ?After my pregnancy I took private dance classes for months to get movement back into my body. We built a dance studio in our house?it?s the best gift I?ve ever given myself! I didn?t want to be awkward and embarrassed in front of people, so I worked the kinks out at home.?
She also explained the vibe of her new songs- ?I see the world through Axl?s eyes, so it?s all about good times and good vibes. With all the negativity in the world, I want to do something positive.?
