Stepping out on the town, Gwyneth Paltrow attended a private viewing of “Quilt” by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, at Established & Sons in London on Tuesday (September 22).
Mingling with Stella McCartney and her GOOP pal Elizabeth Saltzman, the Oscar-winning beauty looked cute in a sleeveless t-shirt paired with a powder blue skirt and black ankle booties.
The trip to London follows a recent stay in Madrid, Spain, where Gwyneth took part in the fashion week festivities.
The “Iron Man” actress took up a front row seat at the Adolfo Dominguez Spring/Summer 2010 runway show, greeting the famous designer with a warm embrace at show’s end.

With LC using Lo as a human shield, the former “Hills” co-stars laughed and hugged one another as they made their way out of the popular local eatery.
Over the weekend, Miss Conrad kept busy by splitting time between boyfriend Kyle Howard and her Kohl’s launch duties.
As part of her line’s launch, Lauren took part in California Coastal Cleanup Day, plugging her new offerings by telling press: “I am very excited to be launching LC Lauren Conrad at Kohl’s later this month because it’s going to 300 stores and it’s going to be on Kohls.com.”

Out for a promotional appearance, Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming were spotted at Good Morning America studios this morning (September 22).
The “Die Hard” hunk and his beautiful bride were gracious to the throng of fans waiting for them, signing autographs and posing for pictures before heading off on their way.
Last night, Bruce and Emma were living it up at the Third Annual Exploring the Arts benefit gala, held at Cipriani Wall Street.
At the gala, Willis and Heming were like a couple of teenagers in love, showing plenty of PDA and gushing about each other to everyone. Bruce told press that it “seems like less than a month [since we got married]. She’s not only my best friend, but my wife.”

Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon may be happily ever after now, but Nick revealed that he had to wait a long time for his dream girl to come into the picture.
The “Glitter” diva dished, “He likes to say that he spoke it into existence. He told everybody who he thought might know me, ‘Tell your girl Mariah that I want to talk to her.’ All this stuff. I didn’t know him…but I didn’t know what to believe.”
Nick finally got his wish at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards after Mariah received an award for “We Belong Together,” and Nick insisted that he give the singer her award.
“He told me that he said to the people that were doing the show, that he wouldn’t do it, unless he could present my award to me,” she explains. “I said, ‘Thank you for all the nice things that you’ve been saying about me.’ And he said ‘I meant everything — give me a chance.’ And then I didn’t see him again for two years.”
But bad timing was to blame for the delay. Mariah says that her bodyguards quickly led her on and Nick did not receive a number. The couple was finally brought back together when Mariah was creating a video.
“I always remembered the moment,” tells Mariah. “We were doing a video and there was going to be a love interest in it. And we were thinking of all different actors and people — we wanted it to look authentic. And I said, ‘Oh, what about Nick Cannon?’ ”

It looks like she’s ready to add “pilot” to her resume- Gisele Bundchen has nearly completed her helicopter flight training regimen just in time to give birth to her baby.
The 6-months-pregnant supermodel has been training to be a pilot outside her new hometown of Boston. Keith Douglass, president of Shoreline Aviation told press, “She’s been coming to the airfield for a couple months and she started her lessons a few weeks ago.”
Douglass continued, “She’s gung ho about learning to fly. She’s one of the best students we’ve ever had. She’s excellent at learning and understanding what makes the helicopters fly. She knows all the rules and regulations. She’s fantastic at flying the helicopter. She is very smooth and professional and she listens.”
And it sounds like Gisele is cleared for takeoff until November, per doctor’s orders. “She wasn’t nervous at all. I asked her. But she can fly into November – that’s when the doctors told her to stop, because she’s due in December. It only becomes an issue when they can’t comfortably get in and out of the airplane or the controls can’t be moved where they should be. They don’t fly that high anyway in a helicopter so there are no big pressure changes.”

We all remember the drama surrounding Lindsay Lohan’s burglary earlier this summer, and now that police have caught the culprit, it seems he has a connection to his victim.
Nicholas Prugo was arrested last Thursday in connection with the break-in, and a source told press that Prugo was seen chatting with LiLo on the set of “Labor Pains” “at least ten times.”
In addition, Mr. Prugo has also been implicated in the February burglary at Audrina Patridge’s residence. He has recent arrests for cocaine possession and DUI as well.
While there’s no official link between Lindsay and Nicholas, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Prugo is currently in police custody on $20,000 bail.

Here are some new pictures of Clive Owen out and about in New York yesterday, looking fabulous. Note: This is how Clive Owen looks on any given day. He?s not wearing that suit for a film role, he?s not carrying his tie because he?s about to strangle someone in some high-octane action shot. He really does walk around like friggin? James Bond all the time. The man is such a panty-dropper, it?s not even funny. He?s stunning. Sigh. It?s a good day for some Clive.
Clive is actually doing some promotional duties for The Boys Are Back, his family drama based on the true story of a British ex-pat widower in Australia, learning how to raise his three sons alone. Clive was just in Toronto to promote the film, and he sat down for a good interview with the Vancouver Sun to discuss the role, his family and why he’s pining away for me (I wish):
You think of Clive Owen and you think of a handsome, elegant man in a tuxedo, or a rugged but charming spy. You don?t really think of a slightly disreputable sports writer throwing water balloons at his rambunctious seven-year-old son, or smacking him on the head in a no-holds-barred pillow fight.
That?s the Clive Owen of The Boys Are Back, a family drama, based on a true story, about a journalist name Joe whose wife dies of cancer, leaving him to raise a young son and a teenager. They live in a rambling house in Australia where a visitor might find a frozen chicken defrosting in the bathtub, and where dad and the kids cope with their grief by running amok: ?free range parenting,? Joe calls it.
And here?s yet another Clive Owen ? the one sitting in a Toronto hotel room whose bathtubs have obviously never seen a chicken, frozen or unfrozen ? an imposingly sturdy-looking man, handsome and elegant in a black open-necked shirt, and also a father who knows what it?s like to deal with kids. The Boys Are Back seems like a departure, but Owen says it doesn?t feel like one.
?It felt like I was exploring a big part of my life that I haven?t explored in my work before,? he said on the eve of the premiere of The Boys Are Back at the Toronto International Film Festival.
?I am a parent of two girls and I?ve always seen that as very separate. I go off and make movies and the rest of the time I?m a parent. And this was a script exploring all that world.?
The Boys Are Back sounds like sentimental material ? Joe?s wife dies at the beginning of the movie, and his young son (played by the remarkable Nicholas McAnulty) is alternately silent with mourning or off carelessly playing ? but Owen says he took steps to make sure it wouldn?t be mushy.
?It was always a big thing for me, I had very strong antennae for any sentiment,? he said.
?I didn?t want it to be sentimental. I wanted to make it tougher in some areas and difficult, and show things not working and not worry that people would be upset by the way he was doing things.?
?I?m not one of those actors who worries about characters being likable,? Owen said. ?I think it?s more important you understand them, it?s more important that you believe and understand. I think it?s a danger some actors fall into. He?s fallible. He?s not perfect. The whole film is about a guy trying to do the best he can. I?ll forgive him everything because he?s trying and he?s not perfect. None of us are.?
?I think there?s huge elements of this film that resonate with everybody. Anyone who?s lost anybody or grieved anybody will relate strongly, anyone whose parents separated . . . a lot of the film resonated with me and will resonate with a lot of people.?
He said he also enjoyed the way the movie depicted the difference between fathers and mothers. ?A day with dad is inevitably different from a day with mom,? he said. ?It just is. I think that the heavy, nurturing thing that a mother brings to a child is different from a guy. This is taken to the extreme, but there is almost an element of that with dad. I think it?s just an instinct thing. We?re not as overly protective as mothers are. Sometimes that?s not good, but I like that the film is about that, too.?
Owen?s daughters, who are 12 and 10, have seen the movie. Did they recognize his parenting style? ?They?re just thrilled they can actually watch one of my movies because usually they can?t ? they?re too young,? he said. ?They?ll have a lot to catch up (on) when they?re 18.?

Good Lord, I hope Clive?s daughters don?t see every R-rated film he?s been in. I love Closer, but I think seeing my dad in that way would totally warp me. Remember the scene with Natalie Portman in the strip club? Thinking about some of the quotes that came out of him makes me need to cross my legs - ?I think it’s best I don’t attempt to touch you. Stepping out for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010, Victoria Beckham was spotted leaving her Central London hotel today (September 22).
The former Spice Girl looked chic as she ignored the paparazzi, sporting a grey cutout dress teamed with a pair of matching heels and big black sunglasses.
As for her fitness regime, Ms. Beckham is said to hit the gym at least five times a day in an effort to shed her excess skin.
A pal told press, “She could probably sort it out y just putting on excess weight. But obviously she won’t! So Vic now works out before and after eating, and it’s even increased her appetite.”

Chilling out with a European getaway, Janet Jackson was spotted arriving at Malpensa Airport in Milan, Italy earlier today (September 22).
The “Rhythm Nation” songstress looked camera-shy as she made her way through the terminal and into a chauffeured car, dressed in all blue with a pair of sunglasses.
The trip overseas comes just under a week ahead of Miss Jackson’s chair duties at an amfAR inaugural benefit held on Septemebr 28th in conjunction with Milan Fashion Week.
Meanwhile, the film of Janet’s late brother Michael Jackson titled “This is It” is scheduled to premiere in a whopping 25 cities next month.
“This is It” features footage of the late King of Pop rehearsing for his 50-date run of concerts at London’s O2 Arena. Sony Worldwide marketing and distribution chairman Jeff Blake told press, “Michael Jackson has an army of fans everywhere around the world. By rolling out this film simultaneously worldwide, we are giving audiences an incredible opportunity to join together in celebration of Michael Jackson’s incredible career.”

This was all news to me, but apparently Christina Aguilera?s father was a very abusive man. Christina has opened up about this before, telling USA Today in 2006 that ?We lived on Army bases when I was little, and it (domestic violence) was happening a lot. The MPs (military police) would come, but a lot of them were doing the same things (to their wives and kids). I was surrounded with domestic violence, not only in my home but my friends.? CB just pointed out that Christina has been talking openly about her abusive past for years now, and many of these quotes may be old - I think a couple of them are new, but we?ll see.
According to The Sun, Christina and her mother are opening up even more about the abuse for a new E! documentary. Christina tells a story about how, as a four-year-old, her father was so violent, Christina was left ?drenched in blood?. It was that incident that made Christina?s mother, Shelly, finally leave. The Sun also has quotes from Christina?s father, Fausto, who sounds like a son of a bitch:
A FOUR-year-old Christina Aguilera was left drenched in blood after her father violently attacked her - for innocently disturbing his “nap”.
The pop star and her mum SHELLY KEARNS have opened up about the abuse they suffered at the hands of army sergeant FAUSTO in a new E! documentary.
Shelly recalled: “I scooped her up and said, ‘Oh my God. What’s wrong?’ She told me, ‘Daddy wanted to take a nap and I made too much noise.’”
The alleged horror incident was the final straw for Shelly, who packed up and fled the family home with Christina and her other daughter RACHEL. But the painful memories of her life before that moment remain as vivid as ever for the Beautiful singer.
Christina said: “I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things - a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarrelling. Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world.”
Christina also revealed that her passion for music was borne out of her tormented childhood. She added: “I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.”
Christina is adamant Fausto’s pleas for forgiveness will always fall on deaf ears. She said: “I let him back into my life briefly but I soon realised that he is not necessary in my life.”
In 2002, Fausto vehemently denied Shelly’s previous allegation that he was “very cruel and abusive” towards his family. He retaliated: “My relationship with her mother was tense and I wasn’t perfect. But I love Christina and her sister Rachel. I never abused them in any way and they know that.?
“Shelly and I disagreed on a lot of things and we both had hot tempers. I’m sorry to have ever raised a hand to my wife, but it was never brutal like IKE and TINA TURNER. Still, even though it’s been exaggerated, I respect Shelly and Christina’s right to remember things differently.”
The couple’s 10-year marriage ended in 1989.

I f-cking hate any abuser who uses the ?I?m not perfect? excuse as a way to whitewash his actions. It?s like, ?Oh, I?m sorry! The dude arrested for allegedly burglarizing Lindsay Lohan’s home earlier this month was actually a friend of the actress. What a surprise. TMZ says
Several people who worked with her on the movie “Labor Pains” — which was shot last year — [said] they saw Nick Prugo hanging out on the set with Lindsay. One person who worked on the set estimates she saw them together at least 10 times.
Prugo — who is 18 — was arrested for cocaine possession last February. He plead guilty and was placed in a drug diversion program. He was also arrested last month for DUI.
Boy, theft, DUI, cocaine arrest — throw in throat gonorrhea and he could be Lindsay’s long-lost twin brother. They’re so alike, it’s almost spooky!

Heather Locklear couldn't stay away from "Melrose Place" for too long. She's back and ready to reprise her role as the show's original bad girl, Amanda Woodward, in November, the CW confirmed.
Locklear, who played Woodward during the first run of the show in the 1990s, will make an appearance on the November 17 episode of the new "Melrose Place." "We're ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to 'Melrose Place,' " executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer said in a statement. "Heather's involvement in the show is something we've been working on for some time as we couldn't imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character's inclusion."
And it's not just fans who will be excited to hear that Locklear is coming back to the show. Current castmate Ashlee Simpson told us earlier this month that she hoped Locklear would return for more drama.
"That's the big question, but none of us know if she's going to come back or not," Simpson told MTV News, reassuring fans of the show that everyone wants more Amanda. "I mean, of course everyone would love for her to come back, but we don't know. [It's] up in the air."
And now that Locklear's coming back, you can bet more craziness is about to ensue on the show. Simpson promised plenty of new drama, saying, "I had never watched the original 'Melrose Place.' They had such a good vision for it, and it's a little bit grittier than the original and a little bit more cinematic. There's still good ol' drama, and I was really intrigued by my character."

Scott is 26, while Kourtney is 30-years-old. “She’s informed him that she’d be happiest with a no-frills wedding over Thanksgiving, and that her mom and sisters would handle all the planning.”
The insider adds that Kourtney really wants a solid family, saying that the brunette beauty is “insisting on a guarantee that she and Scott will bring this child into the world as a committed family unit.”

Coming as a pleasant announcement, Heather Locklear will be returning to “Melrose Place”.
The 47-year-old will take the vixen role of Amanda Woodward on the new CW version of the show, making her appearance on Nov. 17.
“We’re ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to Melrose Place,” executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer said in a statement. “Heather’s involvement in the show is something we’ve been working on for some time as we couldn’t imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character’s inclusion.”
One insider spilled that Locklear saw a pilot of the show and “was surprised at how much she liked it.”
Adding on, the source says her role is “a great comeback” for Locklear who recently had a DUI charge that was dropped and took treatment for anxiety last year.
“She is in great spirits and good shape. This is a perfect time to show everyone how well she is doing,” the source tells.
Details have kept quiet about Locklear’s role, but Josie Bissett, Thomas Calabro, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga are all joining her back on the show.

Last week, an arrest was made in the Lindsay Lohan burglary case. Allegedly, bandits made off with $2 million in jewelry, but left Lindsay?s crackhead erotica. There were many, many people who claimed that Lindsay had a part in burgling herself, but people took a small breath when it seemed like 18-year-old Nicolas Prugo was part of a team that burglarized Lohan and Audrina Patridge, and maybe more people. Prugo seemed to have no connection to Lindsay. Yeah? that didn?t last.
At first, TMZ reported that Lohan and Prugo had a possible connection, all relating to Lindsay?s starring role in a direct-to-DVD film called Labor Pains. According to TMZ, ?Nicholas Prugo’s father happens to be Frank Prugo — who is the former vice president of First Look Studios. First Look is unfortunately responsible for releasing “Labor Pains” — which was filmed last year — starring one Lindsay Lohan. The movie was released in May of this year — LiLo’s home was broken into in August when she was New York. Although Frank is no longer with First Look — the two degrees of separation between Nick and Lindsay is hard to ignore.? Just hours later, TMZ got some sources who claimed that Lindsay had been seen in Prugo?s company nearly a dozen times:
The man arrested for allegedly burglarizing Lindsay Lohan’s house may not have been a stranger to the actress..
Several people who worked with her on the movie “Labor Pains” — which was shot last year — tell TMZ they saw Nick Prugo hanging out on the set with Lindsay. One person who worked on the set estimates she saw them together at least 10 times.
Prugo — who is 18 — was arrested for cocaine possession last February. He pled guilty and was placed in a drug diversion program. He was also arrested last month for DUI.
We don’t know if Prugo had been to Lindsay’s house prior to the break-in.
No comment so far from Lindsay’s camp.

Last night was the Los Angeles premiere of The Invention of Lying, the Ricky Gervais film costarring Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner. Jennifer, Ricky and Rob showed up for the premiere, and it seems like all anyone could talk about was how great Jennifer looked, and how thin Ricky is getting. First, Jennifer - her strapless dress is Gucci, black silk with blue embroidery. The fit is excellent, and the dress is pretty righteous, in my opinion. Simple, yet stunning. I wish she would do something different with her hair, though. She looks like she needs a trim, or maybe she should have just pulled it in a bun.
As for Ricky, maybe it?s not that he looks thin, but he just looks healthier and in shape. Ricky told journalists on the red carpet that he was ?flattered? that people noticed that he has been working out, saying ?I have been working out more because I’ve got a gym in my house?I think I’m exactly the same weight but I’ve probably turned a bit of flab to muscle. I’ve lost about an inch, I’m still a 36-inch waist so I’m hardly Posh Spice!? Still, Ricky says that he?s not dieting, admitting that ?I’ve had pizza two days running in my hotel!” I think he looks great - but I love that man, no matter how in-shape or out-of-shape he is. I?m totally biased about Ricky.
Last night, Jennifer appeared on The Jay Leno Show, and Jay made her disrespect the Red Sox. I have literally no idea what any of this sports crap means, but People had a good summary:
Pardon the pun, but Jennifer Garner hit a home run on The Jay Leno Show Monday night when forced to recite the starting lineup for the Boston Red Sox in order to earn the right to plug her new flick, The Invention of Lying.
“Just to annoy” husband and diehard Sox fan Ben Affleck, Leno not only forced her to don a rival New York Yankees cap, but she also had to hold a photo of “her least favorite” Yankee player, Derek Jeter.
Impressively, Garner pulled off the challenge with commentary about her favorites ? hey, she admits they watch every game! ? but refused to give the Jeter photo to Affleck “as a gift,” proving just how smart she really is.

Oh? burn? Will Ben be mad about that? I hope not. The Invention of Lying is about a world in which lying doesn?t exist? until Ricky Gervais invents it, all for personal gain. Garner if his love interest, and the film does look good. I?ll see it just because Ricky Gervais is awesome.

The fashion icon is in her homeland to celebrate 25 Years of London Fashion Week which includes Vogue’s top fashion Anna Wintour and other huge names in the industry.
Designer Matthew Williamson told UK’s Daily Telegraph, “London is my favorite city to show in. Logistically it’s easier for us as we’re based here but, consistently, London is a hotbed of new talent and it’s exciting to be part of that.”

The “Waking Up in Vegas” songstress looked to be having a marvelous time working on the music video for “Starstrukk” along with the Colorado electronic music duo.
The trio took over the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum’s Rose Garden in Exposition Park and it looks like Miss Perry had plenty of opportunities to cool down during her sprinkler scene.

John Travolta is currently in the Bahamas to potentially testify in the high profile extortion case against former Bahamian senator Pleasant Bridgewater and paramedic Tarino Lightbourne. Bridgewater and Lightbourne are accused of demanding $25 million from the actor in exchange for keeping quiet about a “refusal to transport” document for Travolta’s son, Jett, who died in the Bahamas in January after suffering a seizure and hitting his head. The background on the document is benign enough - Travolta initially wanted to fly Jett in his private jet to Florida for treatment instead of having him taken to hospital in the Bahamas. It could have taken the same amount of time, 45 minutes, to take Jett back to Florida as it would have to drive him to the hospital in the Bahamas. By signing the document, Travolta was releasing the hospital from legal liability in the event of complications. Travolta opted to take Jett to the Bahamian hospital instead, but apparently Lightbourne and his lawyer, Bridgewater, thought that the news that Travolta wanted to fly Jett to Florida was something that he would pay dearly to keep out of the press.
Yesterday a nine person jury with three men and six women was selected. Travolta is on the witness list with 13 other people, and is the first witness listed for the opening day of trial today:
John Travolta has traveled to the Bahamas and is prepared to be the first witness Tuesday in an extortion case linked to his 16-year-old son’s death, a source tells PEOPLE.
The actor is staying at an exclusive gated community west of Nassau, the source says. This is believed to be Travolta’s first visit to the Bahamas since Jett Travolta died last January after suffering a seizure at the actor’s vacation home on the island of Grand Bahama.
Paramedic Tarino Lightbourn and his attorney, former Bahamian Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater, are accused of conspiring to extort $25 million from Travolta for a document relating to Jett’s treatment. The pair have pleaded not guilty and are out on bond.
Supreme Court Judge Anita Allen swore in the six-woman, three-man jury Monday, with opening statements slated to begin Tuesday morning.
Travolta, who heads the 14-member witness list, was not among the four witnesses present in court during jury selection. But he is expected to testify ? and likely will have to recount the painful memories of Jett’s death ? since he filed the extortion complaint.
“If the prosecution doesn’t call him, we will,” Mary Bain, a lawyer representing Lightbourn, tells PEOPLE. “Of course, he’s a key witness.”

There was speculation last month that Travolta and his wife of 18 years, Kelly Preston,were having trouble in their marriage after Jett passed. Kelly has been hard at work while Travolta took a trip by himself to Tahiti earlier this year and has cut a lonely figure since. John doesn’t need to go through the pain of having to recount his son’s death after two greedy people tried to take advantage of him. If these people did try to extort money from Travolta over a tragedy they deserve to have the book thrown at them.

Jessica Simpson is having the worst year ever, and now People Magazine, the Bible of What Celebrities? Publicists Want You To Think, has actually written a story that makes her sound so? pathetic. First, let me say that I don?t think Jess is actually pathetic. I think she?s dumb. There?s a difference. And I do acknowledge that Jess has had one of the most craptastic years ever, from her very public weight gain, to the excessive media coverage of that weight gain; from her split with Tony Romo, to the crazy stories that came out after Tony dumped her; and everything else in between, some of it involving John Mayer, her dog Daisy being eaten by coyotes, and the failure of her country music career. There was a lot more, actually. Those are just some of the biggest crappy things to happen to Jess.
So People decided to do a story about how Jess might be in a ?tailspin? and how, basically, Daisy?s death was the last straw for Jess?s fragile optimism and sanity. Daisy ?gave her unconditional love? and ?never betrayed her. Daisy was always there for her. This is serious. Jessica?s heart is broken.? I totally get that Jessica?s heart is broken with her dog?s death, but People is really laying it on thick:
After losing her beloved Maltipoo Daisy to a coyote attack, Jessica Simpson may be at the lowest point of her life, friends fear.
“Daisy was her baby,” one of them tells PEOPLE. “It’s going to put her into a tailspin. It will put her into the worst place ever.”
Daisy was snatched away by a coyote before Simpson’s very eyes in Los Angeles last week, and, despite Simpson’s refusal to quit searching and offer of a reward, no sign has been seen of the caramel-colored dog. She was given the dog by [her] then-husband Nick Lachey in 2004, and Jessica and Daisy became inseparable.
“She won’t leave her parents’ house,” a source says.
“Whenever things went wrong for Jessica, she reached for Daisy,” another source, a friend, says. “Daisy was her security blanket. When people let her down, she always had Daisy.”
On Sept. 19, her stylist pal Ken Paves convinced Simpson to finally leave her parents’ house. They went to Vino in Encino, Calif., for an attempt to perk her up.
“Jessica seemed okay, but wasn’t smiling much,” an onlooker says. “The wine made her relax a bit, but it was still obvious that she was having a devastating week.”
Daisy was perhaps one of the most pampered pets in Hollywood. Simpson fed Daisy steak, not dog food, and referred to herself as “Daisy’s Mommy.” When leaving the house, Simpson left on the air-conditioning for her dog; and when Daisy was sick, Simpson refused visitors so that they wouldn’t wake Daisy. She threw Daisy birthday parties, and when she talked about having a “girls’ night in” with a video, she was talking about herself and Daisy.
“Jessica has a very small inner circle,” the friend said. “But she always had Daisy. Daisy gave her unconditional love.”
And, unlike some of the men in her life, the friend added, “Daisy never betrayed her. Daisy was always there for her. This is serious. Jessica?s heart is broken.”
Whenever she was out at night, Simpson called home and had “someone put Daisy on the phone so she could say goodnight.”
“Daisy ran the household,” the friend said. “If Daisy didn?t like you, you were gone. Sometimes if her regular hair and makeup people weren?t available and Jessica had a sit-in, if Daisy didn?t like them, they wouldn?t be back. Daisy ran the roost.”
When Simpson was having relationship problems, “she would cry herself to sleep at night, using Daisy as a pillow.”
It won’t be easy to find a replacement, another friend said.
“Jessica is very needy. She is very clingy,” the friend said. “She is so sweet, but sometimes because of that she’s hard to be around. It’s not always easy. She hates to be alone. That’s what happened with [ex-boyfriend and Dallas Cowboys quarterback] Tony [Romo]. Jessica smothers people. She doesn’t really have any hobbies. Daisy was exactly what Jessica needed.”
Another source close to the actress dismisses the possibility of a tailspin as “silly,” but notes Simpson “did love (Daisy) like she was family.”
All of the sources agreed on one point: It’s been a tough year for Jessica Simpson.
“I want her to catch a break,” the first friend said.

What kills me is that I bet this article started out as some puff piece, totally sympathetic to Jessica. When the writer started contacting Jess?s friends, they just went out of their way to make her sound like this total mess of a girl. Like the Calamity Jane of inter-personal (and inter-species) relationships. So? does Jess really ?smother? people? Is she clingy and needy? Maybe. Once again, I don?t really think it?s an issue of being pathetic. I think she?s just not very bright. She should get another dog, and take up a hobby that isn?t too complicated. Like Solitaire.

Fatherhood seems to fit “Spiderman” star Tobey Maguire very well. He always looks so relaxed and at ease with his children - who happen to be completely adorable. Maguire and his family - wife Jennifer Meyer and daughter, Ruby Sweetheart, were out and about over the weekend with their newest addition, baby boy Otis, born in May. Maguire is notoriously quiet on the subject of his family, and waited a few months before releasing his son’s name to the press. It’s obvious that his wife and kids are pretty much the center of his universe, which is more than a little awesome.
I love being a dad and I love my daughter. It?s amazing. It?s like everybody says. All the clich?s are true. It?s indescribable and you just have to be there to understand it. You don?t really get it until you?re there.

If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen Tobey in a movie recently, don’t worry: according to IMDB.com, the actor has about 11 films in various stages of production, including Spiderman 4, currently in pre-production. A lot of people didn’t think this film was going to happen, including Maguire. He had said several times that the only way he’d suit up for Spidey again was if Sam Raimi was back as the director; Raimi had gone on record saying that he would only be directing the next installment of the franchise if the script was right. Looks like the script was right - because the movie is happening, and Spiderman 5 is reportedly in development, too. But for now, it looks like Tobey can just have fun being a dad to his two cute kids until the Spiderman whirlwind kicks in again.
