Here are some photos from the big LA premiere of I, Tonya last night. Margot Robbie really is a bombshell, isn?t she? One sign of Margot?s bombshell status is that she?s one of those rare women who makes cheap-looking clothing look somehow expensive and high-fashion. It?s a gift that few celebrities have, honestly. Margot wore this cheap-looking gold Versace dress which looks like it came from Frederick?s of Hollywood, and yet on Margot, it looks great. She looks stunning.
Margot happily posed with the true OG Tonya Harding, who seemed pleased to be there. Margot?s costars were there too, including Sebastian Stan (who plays Tonya?s dirtbag husband), Julianne Nicholson and Allison Janney. Janney in particular can do no wrong – even when she?s wearing a boring sack, I still think ?wow, Oscar-worthy.?
Speaking of Oscar-worthy? I know there?s a lot of debate about Margot?s Oscar chances. For the record, I still believe she?s a shoo-in for all of the major Best Actress awards, but the way the actress race is shaping up, I think she?s going to lose everywhere to Saoirse Ronan (that?s how it looks now, it could change). But Allison Janney? I feel like she?s close to a sure thing for Best Supporting Actress. She fits so much of the criteria: she?s been around forever, she knows everybody, everybody loves her, she?s a world-class actress and she?s never been nominated for an Oscar. The Academy loves to give ?older actors? the Oscar in supporting categories. It?s like their version of a lifetime achievement award.

I?ve started calling this year Sex Predatorgate 2017. In Sex Predatorgate 2017, I?ve gotten more than a few emails asking if it?s time to talk about John Travolta. If you?ve been following this blog for years, you might remember that we did extensive coverage of the accusations lodged against Travolta, especially when the stories were really exploding in 2012. Travolta is allegedly a serial harasser and a serial assailant, mostly of young, male masseurs, but sometimes of young men in the general service industries (like, workers on cruise ships). Last time I checked – circa 2012 – more than seven men had accused Travolta of harassment or assault.
It?s difficult for mainstream media to cover the multitude of accusations and stories around and about Travolta, because – much like the Kevin Spacey situation before this year – it would involve ?outing? Travolta. It?s been widely reported in the tabloids for years and years that Travolta has had a series of consensual relationships with men. That?s one thing, and if the stories were just about ?Travolta is on the downlow with consenting male adults,? I would completely understand why no one wanted to touch those stories. Put that to the side though – he?s also been accused for YEARS of abusing service industry workers. Some of them have even sued him.
So? I don?t know if Travolta is about to become the next person outed in some expos, but it feels like something is about to happen:
Lionsgate has iced John Travolta?s Gotti biopic. Just 10 days before the film was set for domestic release under the studio?s Lionsgate Premiere banner, EW can confirm that the project ? about the life of ill-fated mobster John Gotti, head of the infamous Gambino family ? has been sold back to production company Emmett/Furla/Oasis.
The Tracking Board?s Jeff Sneider first reported the news, further indicating that producers will seek new distribution soon. A 2018 release now seems likely, instead of the originally planned Dec. 15 bow. Also starring Travolta?s wife, Kelly Preston, as Victoria Gotti, and veteran actor Stacy Keach as Gotti?s mentor, Aniello Dellacroce, Gotti was directed by Entourage star Kevin Connolly, from a script co-written by Haywire and The Limey scribe Lem Dobbs and The Accused star Leo Rossi.
Further details, including a reason for the sale, remain unclear.

Deadline reports that this was all some kind of internal distribution beef, as in the film was pulled at the last minute because the actual release of the film was going to be small, and Gotti producers wanted a wider release. But? it does feel weird, right? That all of a sudden, producers have pulled back the release just 10 DAYS before it was due to premiere? Hm.

Note: I?m choosing to use Maria Sharapova?s photos in this post for many reasons. One, she?s Russian. Two, she already served a suspension from professional tennis for doping. Three, because I?m an idiot about most athletes, when I thought of ?Russian athlete,? Sharapova was the first one to come to mind. Plus, she?s actually an Olympic medalist: she won Silver at the London Olympics in 2012.
Sharapova will not be playing at the Pyeongchang, South Korea Olympics in a few months because tennis is a Summer Olympics-sport (the 2018 Olympics are for Winter sports) and because Russia got their asses BANNED from the 2018 Olympics. Guess why? You?ll never guess! Oh, right, the state-sponsored sport programs in Russia are basically doping factories.
The International Olympic Committee has barred Russia from the Winter Olympics this February as punishment for its systematic doping but will allow some individual Russian athletes to take part under a neutral Olympic flag.
The IOC’s executive committee announced in a statement that it was barring Russia’s national Olympic committee from the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The punishment, which will mean that no Russian athletes will compete under the country’s colors, came amid intense pressure to punish the country for its alleged state-sponsored cover-up of doping by its athletes. The penalty is unprecedented in Olympic history.
In a statement released after it met in Lausanne, Switzerland, the committee said it acted on the recommendations of an IOC commission headed by former Swiss President Samuel Schmid to investigate Russian doping. The statement said his report confirmed “the systemic manipulation of the anti-doping rules and system in Russia.”
At a press conference after the decision was announced, Schmid said his commission did not find any evidence that the Kremlin was aware of the doping cover-up, but the IOC banned Russia’s former sports minister and its current head of the national soccer association, Vitaly Mutko, for life from the Olympics, along with his former deputy Yuri Nagornykh.
The anti-doping agencies of 17 countries, including the United States, demanded the IOC impose a blanket ban, issuing a collective statement in September that it was time for the body to stop “paying lip service” to the anti-doping fight.
The IOC stopped short of that, instead saying that some Russian athletes will be permitted to compete in Pyeongchang under a specially created status, “Olympic athlete from Russia,” according to the IOC statement. Those athletes will have to be cleared an IOC panel that will confirm they have no doping violations on their records and that they have undergone sufficient testing. Athletes approved by the panel will compete in a uniform with “Olympic athlete from Russia” written on it and under an Olympic flag. The Olympic anthem will be played in place of Russia’s national anthem at medal ceremonies.

I?m sure there will be a lot of people (Russian bots?) arguing that doping is a way of life in professional sport and blah blah blah AMERICANS DO IT TOO and this is all some kind of anti-Russian conspiracy. While I believe that *some* athletes from *many* nations dope or have doped in the past, the sheer volume of Russian athletes doping is next-level. There?s been an excellent series of reporting around Russian doping for years, and many people forget that there were actually calls for Russia to be banned from the Rio Olympics too. And do you remember the Russian-organized hack of American Olympians following the Rio Olympics? That was like a harbinger of Russian shenanigans to come.
