| Christina Aguilera: 'I?m not into deprivation, I?m not into suffering' for my body | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Christina Aguilera spent much of 2015 out of the limelight, possibly getting face work done, possibly getting butt work done. But Christina is launching a comeback of sorts with her triumphant return to The Voice this month. Blake Shelton has been vocal about wanting Gwen Stefani to stay on too, so I?m wondering if Christina?s return will really be all that welcome. There?s nothing worse than going away for a few years and trying to launch a comeback only to find that very few people actually missed you. Still, I didn?t hate Aguilera in this Women?s Health cover profile. She comes across as very likable and down-to-earth, two descriptors I never thought I would use in any context with ?Christina Aguilera.? Some highlights:
Women feel like they have to be all things to all people: “Mothers are constantly expected to be the nurturers, the givers, the providers of a comfortable home. We’re expected to be pregnant, have the kids, breastfeed once we have the babies. And we’re expected to look amazing after baby, right? Keep our husbands and boyfriends interested?because we’re supposed to get back to sexy and keep things exciting in the bedroom. There’s such a long list.”
Taking care of yourself after having a baby: “Having children is the ultimate joy, and I love my kids, but women have to find time to nurture themselves. If someone has a baby, the first thing I’m like is, ‘OK, are you taking care of you?’ I would say to any woman: ‘Don’t be too hard on yourself!’ If you’re not feeling confident on a certain day, you have to let that go, and own, ‘Yeah, I’m not feeling confident today,’ and you move on and try to enjoy the best you can. I’m not into deprivation; I’m not into suffering into getting a great body or the body that you want. I’m into enjoying life, being conscious and aware, but also breathing into yourself and owning what you got.”
Summer Rain?s name was almost Joy: “I swear if I hadn’t called her Summer I would’ve called her Joy because she just lights up a room and she illuminates brightness and happiness.”
Yoga has helped her: “It takes time, I think, to build confidence and to grow into feeling comfortable in your own skin. It is what you feel inside and how you can exude it and how you own it, sometimes in front of a camera. It’s difficult on days when you don’t feel it, but it is things like yoga that has helped me to know how to center myself and how to bring myself into that place of awareness and just being able to breathe into my own body. My whole life, I feel like I’ve lived many years growing up in this business, from 7-years-old on, and very much a fight-or-flight mode and its things like yoga that brings you outside of that chaotic moment and then draws you inside to connect with what really is meaningful to you and sort of your inner light which then connects with your confidence.”
She?s not marrying Matt Rutler any time soon: “We discuss it when we?re snuggling in bed, but it?s a casual conversation.”
[From E! News]
Lord help me, but I found myself nodding along with this: ?I’m not into deprivation; I’m not into suffering into getting a great body or the body that you want. I’m into enjoying life?? Seriously, life?s too short to deprive yourself of the good stuff. Shockingly, Christina and I have the same kind of philosophy about dieting. Whoa! Of course, Christina does believe in excess? excess orange makeup and excess booze. But she does sound pretty good here. I hope she is taking better care of herself these days.
Here are some photos of Christina looking particularly orange back in December.

| Sofia Vergara won't complain about diversity: 'I?ve been treated like a queen' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Some people are tired of Sofia Vergara. I?m not. I got a little bit tired of her a few years back, but I fell back in love with her during the drama last year with her ex, Nick Loeb, a drama which has no end in sight. Sofia covers the new issue of The Edit, and she talks about a lot of the same stuff: accepting who you are, her giant rack, her hair, her red carpet styling and more. But she has thoughts about other stuff too, like diversity in entertainment and playing a stereotype. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Stereotypes are not always bad: ?I?m not afraid of them, and they don?t have to be bad, either. I mean, Gloria is an amazing character: a really good woman with this hilarious accent, so why criticize her for being a stereotype? Plus, all the Latinas I know are loud, they dress sexy and are really involved with their families: that?s Gloria!?
She?s not Zen about aging: ?Watching myself age on screen is awful! There is nothing more disturbing than watching an episode of Modern Family from the first season, then one from seven years later. It just makes me want to kill myself, but what can I do? I?ll be sad when the wolf whistles stop. I?m already sad that men have started calling me ?Seora?. I get really pissed off: ?What? It?s Seorita!??
How she?s changed in her 40s: ?Back in my mum?s era, 40 was considered old, but now I don?t think it is. You have to accept that you can look beautiful, but in a different way. Nowadays I don?t do miniskirts and low-cut tops: it?s one or the other. I don?t do shorts or Pink anymore, and I?ve softened my eye makeup. In Colombia, once women hit 40, they automatically cut their hair short. I used to think I would do that too, but when it came to it I thought, ?Why should I f***ing cut my hair? It makes you look older!??
Motherhood: ?I became a mother very young ? at 20 ? so I feel like I?ve been a mother my whole life, but I love that. Now that I?m 43 and my son is 23, it?s funny to see some of my girlfriends raising young kids. In the US, women postpone motherhood, but in Latin America most of my friends have kids my son?s age. I wouldn?t mind another child: my husband is younger than me and he wants kids so we?re trying to figure out what we?re going to do. The idea of doing it all again doesn?t scare me but, hey, it?s not like it?s going to happen naturally, is it??
Complaints about diversity: ?I?m really not one to complain. I mean, seriously, how dare I! Here I am on prime-time television with this stupid accent, I can?t trash anyone. It would be so ungrateful of me because, trust me, I?ve been treated like a queen. Of course [the opportunities] can?t compare to an American or Caucasian woman?s, but things are changing. The problem is not the networks or directors: it?s that there aren?t enough writers creating things for Latinos. Once we have more Latinos writing, that?s when things may really start to change??
Her breasts: ?My body has changed with age. People will often say that I wear the same thing on the red carpet, but I know my body: it?s very voluptuous and I?ve got the boobs of a stripper. They?re a 32DDD and because they?re real, they?re everywhere, so I need my dresses to have structure ? and under armor. There is so much going on under my dresses that I bleed at the end of award ceremonies. In ten years I think it would be good to have a reduction. I don?t think it?s even going to be an option not to [have surgery], because I?m going to start having back pains. I wouldn?t make them too small ? just enough that I don?t end up looking like an old stripper.?
How she feels about being objectified: ?I?ve never understood why women get so offended. I just don?t believe in all that drama, which is why I?ve made a whole joke out of it. I am secure enough not to take it all that seriously, and I like to laugh at myself.?
[From The Edit]
I wouldn?t hold it against her if she did complain about diversity, because she seriously toiled away, looking for a break for more than a decade. Once she had a hit, she leveraged that into her own empire through her own hard work. As for the other stuff? here are my Hot Takes: you don?t have to cut your hair when you hit 40, but I disagree that a short haircut makes everyone look older. I don?t think it?s bad idea to say breast reduction might be in the future for Sofia: it might happen. Also, if your dresses make you bleed, you should choose different dresses!

| Drew Barrymore covers Bazaar: 'I don't think I?m hot right now necessarily' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

With all the Goops, Reeses and Albas getting magazine covers for their lifestyle brands it’s nice to see Drew Barrymore score a cover. Drew is promoting her Flower Beauty line, which just branched into eyewear, and she also runs Barrymore wines, which is no Coppola wines from what I’ve heard. (I love Coppola wine.) In terms of the editorial, I like a bold brow and I have big brows (my hairdresser is older and keeps trying to convince me to go 90s with my brows), but this is just beyond. I get the impression that the big brow trend is about to jump the shark when I see this cover. Too much powder. The other photos, where it looks like her hair is on fire, are a nod to the Stephen King film she starred in as a child, Firestarter, which she said she’d love to remake. (They seemed to have achieved those firey photos with actual gas flames set up behind her, as you can see in the video on Bazaar’s site.) Inside, Drew talks about her current career and being a mom, and also about her level of fame, which she’s asked about in a roundabout way. She sounds self aware to me, like she knows she’s not a big deal anymore and she’s fine with that.
Drew Barrymore on what ?hot? means to her:
?Hot is a state of mind. It?s an energy. You?re hot when you?re motivated. It means you want it and you?re going after it. Hot isn?t about being on the A-list of having a hot body. It?s literally people who are on fire. Like Lena Dunham is on fire. Amy Schumer. Louis C.K. I think their brands of comedy and observational life stuff are some of the coolest I?ve seen in so many years.?
On whether she perceives herself as ?hot? right now:
?I don?t think I?m hot right now necessarily, because I have all my irons in a bunch of different fires. I?m writing. I?m doing makeup. I?m doing design. I?m expanding Flower into different categories. I think it?s a huge mistake to think you have to burn bright for your whole life. You cannot sustain it. It?s exhausting, and it?s not very realistic.?
On her experience with Hollywood heat in all its iterations:
?It?s been at different intervals: E.T. was a really exciting time; when I was doing The Wedding Singer and starting Flower Films; making Never Been Kissed and Charlie?s Angels; when I directed Whip It and did Grey Gardens in the same year. Those were times when I really pushed myself and I didn?t care about my sleep, my health. I didn?t have relationships or children that would be a priority over my work.?
[From Bazaar]
The thing that I appreciate about Drew is that she’s still hustling but she’s not always in our faces. She’s not doing a lot of pap walks or going to every opening, nor is she trying to convince us to eat/dress/exercise/meditate her way. Drew is just trudging along as she’s always done. Sure she’s part of a Hollywood legacy but she’s not saying she did it all on her own, she seems to recognize her situation for what it is. I like her, I can’t help it. She’s a bit boring but I think we need more celebrities like that, or at least we need to appreciate the ones we have.
