There?s a wonderful episode of 30 Rock where, because of shenanigans, Liz Lemon has to pretend to be pregnant to cover for Jack?s wife. Liz Lemon got manipulated into doing a ?pregnancy photoshoot,? and the result was excellent comedy:
That?s what Halle Berry was doing over the weekend at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Halle made sure to pose like a pregnant lady, with her hands gently pulling our eyes down to her ?baby bump.? Except that after everyone was like, ?Damn, is she pregnant at the age of 50,? Halle sent her rep out to deny the pregnancy story flatly. So what?s really going on?
My guess is that Halle was just being weird and/or thirsty? Maybe she just wanted some attention. It could have been some kind of performance art, just to see if people would get hysterical if she did a ?pregnancy pose.? Or maybe she honestly didn?t know people pose like that while pregnant?? Also: as for the father of this phantom baby, TMZ?s sources say that Halle isn?t really dating anyone right now anyway. Hm.

Taylor Swift can stick to a narrative, even when that narrative she has created blows up in her face. Taylor has already decided that the narrative of her relationship with Joe Alwyn is going to be ?private, low-key.? The narrative is that Big Bad Tom Hiddleston was a terrible famewhore and she learned so much about what she does not want from her relationships. The narrative is that Taylor is just a simple girl who wants low-key love, and she will not parade around with her secret and private boyfriend. The problem with this narrative is that narratives need to be sold for them to work, which is why we have been inundated with stories from People Magazine, Us Weekly, E! News and The Sun about how Taylor Swift is so private now. If you have to tell every media outlet that you?re Super-Private and Low-Key with Your Secret Boyfriend, guess what? You?re not. But at least this time around, we don?t have to hear about swan pastries and fudge. Small mercies.
Taylor Swift is sharing a piece of her heart with Joe Alwyn. After secretly dating for several months, the pop star recently took her relationship with the budding British actor to a slightly more public platform by way of her cherished Nashville hometown. As photographers caught the lovebirds enjoying coffee and chatting on a balcony in Tennessee on Saturday, E! News has learned it was one of the many activities Taylor and Joe partook in during their “low-key” weekend getaway.
The duo spent time at Taylor’s mom, Andrea Swift’s, home, gathering close friends and family members for a small dinner party on Sunday evening. One source tells E! News, “Food was served and everyone hung out together for several hours.”
“Taylor and Joe headed back to her place later in the evening,” the source reveals. Additionally, we’re told Taylor and Joe ordered delivery and invited a few pals over to hang out. “Taylor wants to keep this relationship private and has been taking measures to keep things low-key and under-the-radar,” a separate source explains.

Would it be an invasion of the privacy narrative to wonder what kind of takeout they ordered?? Inquiring minds want to know! Was it Chinese? Does Nashville have any good Chinese places? It was probably pizza. It would excellent if it was like Swan Pastries To Go though. Also: how is that Taylor and Joe managed to date so quietly for months and months and now suddenly they?re doing coffee-on-the-balcony and takeout-at-home and E! News knows all about it?

In a world full of boring black dresses, I?m glad that Gabrielle Union came out to the CFDA Awards looking like Foxy Brown, if Foxy Brown was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Gabrielle brought her husband Dwayne Wade to the CFDAs, and while they posed together for some photos, she also made him wait by the side so she could be photographed solo in this Rodarte ensemble. I love the pants and the sequined coat. I dislike – but accept – the blouse. And her hair is amazing. She?s elevating this look because you can really tell that she loves it too.
Nicole Kidman in Oscar de la Renta. This is bad, right? I?m not just imagining that? Like, everything is wrong. Wrong hair. Wrong jewelry. Bad dress.
Priyanka Chopra in Michael Kors. This is a decent dress, albeit rather boring. Now I know how my mom feels when she sees me dressed in black – with Priyanka?s coloring, she really should wear more bright and light colors. Damn it, my mom has been right this whole time!
Joan Smalls also wore Michael Kors. Why did Kors put all of the women of color in black?? What are you trying to say?!? Anyway, this is an okay dress. Eh.

Chloe Moretz was one of the many young faces of coach at last nights CFDA awards. Coach is trying to appeal to younger consumers with their brand ambassadors which is smart as they need to hook women who will be loyal to their purses throughout their lifetime. This begs the question though, where was Selena Gomez? She earned a multi million dollar contract with Coach and surely that must involve promotional activities like this. Instead coach had Chloe Moretz, Rowan Blanchard and a couple of other young women representing the label.
Chloe was is in this black-and-white above the knee length coach gown with a dippy white Peter Pan collar. She looked like she was dressed for a luncheon not a fashion awards ceremony. I do like her styling and makeup, although her eyebrows are a bit dark. She’s only 20 so it makes sense that they would put her in a young-looking dress, but there’s absolutely nothing special about this.

Rowan Blanchard was also in Coach, in a yellow floral number with flutter cap sleeves. This is very Little House on the Prairie and while it could be worse it’s not good either. She has tiny sequins glued under her eyes.

Here’s a group shot of the women in Coach including Sasha Lane in a sheer dress that’s similar to Rowan’s and Hari Nef in a 70s golf top with a floral skirt. It’s clear that handbags, not fashion, are Coach’s forte.

Continuing the theme of fashion from designers known for their purses, here’s Mandy Moore in Kate Spade. This is really fug. It’s sparkly leopard print with cuff sleeves! If you’re going to do animal prints, which seem to have been out of fashion for several years, at least show a little skin. Plus her hair is all slicked back and whoever did her makeup put liquid eyeliner underneath her eyes. There’s a reason that’s rarely done.

Ellie Kemper fared better in pale Pink Kate Spade with a snowflake pattern of sequins. This isn’t amazing, but it’s cute on her.

I think Ashley Benson got the worst Kate Spade dress although she’s neck and neck with Mandy. The floral embroidery over black lace is striking, but the extra row of lace hem at the bottom is too much. Imagine this as tea length without the extra hem and it would be pretty, right? I love her hair and makeup it’s just right.

Meg Ryan accompanied designer Christian Siriano to the CFDA Awards and the photos of them together are just so cute! I do wonder what’s going on with his hair, it’s like he’s channeling Edna from The Incredibles, but he’s happy and see,s proud of this gown, which he should be. It fits Meg like a glove, it’s an amazing pearl white and it shimmers beautifully. It’s a very classic cut and design and flatters her figure so well. Also, her face looks like it’s settled somewhat. (I know that sounds bad but I can’t help but notice.)

Meg has a little script tattoo under her left arm that says “Life is Short.” It’s not bad and is tasteful. Here’s a closer look in a paparazzi photo from last week, the photo agency WENN pointed it out.
Brooke Shields was in a voluminous Sachin & Babi gown with a very high slit, deep v neck and a giant floral pattern. I really like this bold gown, it looks perfect for the event. From some angles I thought the skirt might be pants, but there’s a photo of her kicking her leg out to show that she has pants on underneath.

Olivia Munn was ridiculous in floral Tanya Taylor with ruffles and cut out sides. She often looks ridiculous though, and this might be cute on someone else. Check out her red platform shoes. They’re not a bad choice for this dress I guess.

Here’s Heidi Klum in Zac Posen, whose designs are hit or miss. This is a miss. I’m ending with Heidi as a contrast to Meg, who looked amazing and classy. This dress is too low cut, it looks cheap and she’s in need of some pasties. I would bet that Heidi had a hand in designing this, it’s a typical red carpet gown for her. Of course she’s wearing a belly chain.

I know that Emmy Rossum is not controversial in the least, but that’s why I like her. She had what sounds like an amazing wedding to Sam Esmail the last weekend in May, but she didn’t hypermanage it (like I would have done) and she wore just one incredible dress, designed by Carolina Herrera. Her reception was at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, but she didn’t change out of her wedding dress to a reception dress and instead kept it low key and fun. Judging by the photos on social media, a good time was had by all. Now we have photos of the cake too, and it was a very simple tiered white wedding cake. I know that Emmy said that she designed her dress in conjunction with Herrera to mimic the clean architectural lines of the Guggenheim, and it looks like her cake was designed with that in mind too. Check out this cake! I love how simple and elegant it is. This is from an Instagram story by actor Nyambi Nyambi. You have to click the arrows to the right of the photo to scroll through. Look at how they look at each other during their first dance, they are so in love.

As you all know by now, singer/actress/dancer Jennifer Lopez and former baseball player Alex Rodriguez are together, and it?s been speculated that they are probably going to get married. They?ve already ticked off the boxes that lead to a trip down the aisle. Gushing about your romance on Ellen, check. Met Gala appearance, check. Vacation with the exes, showing that they?re all one big, happy family, check. Introducing your beau to your mother, check. Now, the couple can add ?blended family photo shoot? to the list.
Jennifer, working double duty on her TV series Shades of Blue and the reality dance competition World of Dance, and Alex, who just landed a gig as a contributor to ABC News, got their kids together for a Sunday playdate and recruited photographer Ana Carballosa to document the festivities. She captured a photo of the kids, Jennifer?s 9-year-old twins Max and Emme and Alex?s daughters Ella, 9 and Natasha, 12 romping in the pool, which Jennifer posted to Instagram with the caption, ?Happy Sunday, everybody!?

Mischa Barton was victorious in court yesterday in a case against an ex boyfriend who had recorded sex videos of her without her knowledge. Mischa first went public in March with the fact that an ex boyfriend was shopping an intimate tape of her to adult film companies. She was on Dr. Phil around that time, and described how surprised and mortified she was by the fact that the tape was out there, and that her ex was using it to emotionally abuse and shame her. Mischa was also slipped the date rape drug GHB around the time she was with that guy, for which she had to be hospitalized.
The good news is that Mischa?s nightmare is close to being over. Yesterday she obtained a permanent restraining order against the man who victimized her, Jon Zacharias, and Zacharias has been ordered to turn over all videos and photos of Mischa to her lawyer. Here?s the statement Mischa?s lawyer provided to People Magazine, and she also tweeted the photo of the two of them outside of court yesterday after they won their case. (That?s below.)
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Monday, [Mischa Barton?s lawyer, Lisa] Bloom said, ?Mischa did not consent to the release of any such photos or videos. We went into court and obtained court orders barring anyone from trafficking in images like this of Mischa.?
?Today we have won an important agreement, which permanently blocks the dissemination of these images,? it continues. ?All explicit photos and videos of Mischa must be handed over to me immediately. Her ex must stay 100 yards away from her today, tomorrow, and forever. And the court will retain jurisdiction over the case in case we need further enforcement.?
The statement continues, ?I am proud to declare victory for Mischa. She did this not just for herself, but for all women and girls. Mischa wants everyone to know that we have the right to control our own bodies and decide whether or not to have explicit photos out there for the world to see. If a woman wants to do that, fine. If she doesn?t, fine. The choice is hers and hers alone.?

I really like the way that Bloom phrased this, that women have agency over their bodies and the choice to make explicit photos, and either is fine. I would have made more of a distinction between allowing the explicit photos and/or videos to be taken and then deciding whether or not those should be public. Those are two separate decisions, but that?s a minor complaint about this statement.
I?m glad Mischa is ok and that she was able to stop the release of this recording. She has also been seen out with a new ?mystery man? in Cannes and in recent paparazzi photos. (People has those photos.) If she has a new boyfriend I hope that he?s a good person and is treating her right.

The annual CFDA Awards were last night in New York. CFDA = Council of Fashion Designers of America. The CFDAs have become a bigger and bigger deal under Anna Wintour?s leadership, and I have to say, they do a good job of nurturing new and emerging American design talent. When the Obamas were in office, Michelle Obama often wore – presumably with Wintour?s encouragement – new, American designers who were often the beneficiaries of Wintour?s promotion. Here?s Bella Hadid in Off White. I actually love this. Beautiful color, beautiful cut, great sleeves, great belt. You know what? I don?t even hate her bangs here.
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, in The Row (their own label). They drive me crazy with the way they insist on always posing this way on every red carpet. As for their clothes? Victorian hobos, only chic and menswear-inspired. I think that?s the tagline for The Row: ?Victorian hobos, only chic and menswear-inspired.?
Gigi Hadid wore The Row as well, and while it?s nice to see her in something different, this doesn?t really suit her.
Janelle Monae in Christian Siriano. We should all have a moment in our lives when we were this cool.
Kate Bosworth in Brock Collection. I sort of like this? While I?m meh on shades of yellow, The Bos looks good.
Amanda Peet also wore Brock Collection. This is a no. This looks like a discarded thrift-store bridesmaid dress.
