While the rest of Hollywood basks in the afterglow of Sunday?s (Feb. 22) Academy Awards, Salma Hayek has been spending her time across the pond at London Fashion Week.
The 48-year-old actress sat front row at the Christopher Kane show, where she showed off her incredible figure in a form-fitting LBD with a thigh-high slit. She sported a small Pink bag and black pumps, but her best accessory of the night was her husband Francois-Henri Pinault.
And, the couple didn?t stop there! Salma and Francois-Henri also attended the Hunter Original 2015 presentation at the Albert Embankment Warehouse on Lambeth High Street. The Mexican-born beauty opted for a different ensemble for the later LFW show: An elegant black dress with a heavy coat, tights, and simple patent leather heels.

At the end of her Oscar’s speech accepting Best Supporting Actress, Patricia Arquette made an impassioned plea for wage equality. It was rousing, she got Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep all excited, and she started a conversation about women’s rights. Her comments were particularly relevant to her industry in light of the Sony hack which revealed that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid much less in backend profits for American Hustle than their male costars. This is patently unfair, but we’re talking about large sums of money. Neither one of these women are suffering. Still, this is a fight that we can all support as women, and highly paid women should be paid as much, and offered as many advancements, as men. Full stop.
In her comments backstage following her win, Arquette kind of went off the rails a bit. She implied that LGBTQ rights advocates and people of color had not supported feminist and women’s issues to date and that it was time they did. Here’s some of what she said backstage, and you can see the video above. (That part comes in at 1:40.)
So the truth is, even though we sort of feel like we have equal rights in America, right under the surface, there are huge issues that are applied that really do affect women and it’s time for all the women in America and all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of color that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now.

Maybe Arquette was all worked up from her win, and maybe she had a bad personal experience with friends not supporting her cause or something, and she’s overgeneralizing. That’s possible, and plus this is one of the most emotional moments of her life, she may have said some things she would regret when all the adrenaline dies down. I mentioned some of this John Travolta stuff in a few of the Oscar posts yesterday, but there?s new information so we might as well recap. Even after one of the most viral flubs ever last year, John Travolta was still invited back to present this year. The WTF-ery began on the red carpet, when John Travolta spied his friend Scarlett Johansson (they worked together when she was just a kid). He snuck up behind her to plant a kiss on her cheek while she was posing for the bank of cameras. The photos are pretty creepy.
The WTF-ery continued inside, when Oscar producers decided to lean in to the Adele Dazeem debacle by having Travolta and Idina Menzel present an award together. It was actually one of the funniest and most well-written parts of the evening, and I say this with no shade: I like Travolta more for being willing to eat it and be the butt of the joke (double entendre alert). I think he was genuinely sorry that he mangled Idina?s name and he really did want to make it up to her.
Unfortunately, Travolta decided to fool around with the blocking while he was on stage with Idina. He ended up stroking her chin and touching her face in a rather creepy way. Then, after the Oscars, Travolta put on four layers of guyliner, some mascara and some pancake foundation (NO JOKE) and made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He joked with Kimmel that “Apparently I played with her chin too much.? And that?s it. That?s the only explanation he gave for the chin-fondling. But he did explain the original Adele Dazeem debacle and how it came about. Guess what? It involved Travolta acting creepy with yet another woman!!
John says that backstage, last year, ?I run into Goldie Hawn. Now, Goldie Hawn is sexy, charismatic, beautiful … amazing, and I was star-struck. I’m star-struck, hugging and loving her up, forgetting that I have to go and do this bit. And they said, ‘You’re on.?? He says he was presented with a card that had Idina?s name written out phonetically, and it was different than the card he was using during the rehearsal.
And all?s well that ends well, I guess. Travolta says that Idina has ?had one of the best years of her life and credits me for that.? Riiight.
