When last we checked in with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they were making their annual announcement of (mostly white male) nominees for induction, two months ahead of the annual announcement of actual inductees, and more than half a year out from the annual induction ceremony itself. So now we?re at the point on the calendar where the Hall announces this year?s inductees (for the event that?s still six months away), and its a fine class of seven performing artists. Plus another two recording artists elected by the board instead of ballot. Plus another three musicians, once again picked directly by the board. And then they threw one more person in there for an even baker?s dozen. To paraphrase the judge at the end of the classic 1972 film What?s Up, Doc?, ?Does it make sense? No. But it is consistent!? Behold, the 2025 inductees:
Newly selected by the hall?s voters as members of the class of ?25: Cyndi Lauper, the White Stripes, Chubby Checker, Outkast, Bad Company, Soundgarden and Joe Cocker.
Two more recording artists won induction into the hall despite not appearing on this year?s ballot, by a move of the board in a separate Musical Influence category: Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon.
Three other musicians are getting in via the Musical Excellence Award, as also selected by the board: producer Thom Bell; pianist Nicky Hopkins, a frequent Rolling Stones sideman back in the day; and bassist Carole [sic] Kaye, a famous member of the session players? ensemble the Wrecking Crew.
The lucky 13th inductee for this year is Lenny Waronker, whose stewardship at Warner Bros. Records over a period of decades landed him a reputation as an artist-friendly exec with some of the best ears in the business.
Who didn?t get in? From the official ballot, the six nominees who failed to make the cut this time were Phish, Oasis, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Joy Division + New Order and the Latin rock group Man.
?Both Zevon and Salt-N-Pepa were hand-picked by the organization?s board to go in under the umbrella of the Musical Influence Award. In recent years, that has been a way for prestigious acts to get in after having been previously shut out in voting. Zevon in particular is someone who has long been lobbied for; he appeared on the regular ballot just once, in 2023, without getting in, so the board opted to take independent action rather than wait to see if he?d even make the ballot a second time. Seminal rap artists Salt-N-Pepa had never been nominated before.
?No one should underestimate the capacity of Carey?s lambs to be displeased about the pop superstar being absent from the final selection. But the greater umbrage might come from fans of Phish, whose supporters rallied behind their heroes to win the fan vote, as announced a week earlier. This is only the second time since the fan vote was instituted that its winner did not go on to immediately get voted in by the Hall?s 1,200-plus music-industry electors. (The previous time it happened was with the Dave Matthews Band, who did get elected on the next try. While the fan vote is a good indicator of populist passion, it counts little toward the final outcome.)
[From Variety]
I?m sure Salt-N-Pepa and Zevons family appreciate the Hall publicly spelling out how the board stepped in to recognize them, because neither artist was on the ballot. Thanks. Also, am I crazy (don?t answer that), or did the Hall completely undercut their own argument about the fan vote, highlighting how it was ?only the second time? that a fan vote winner didn?t win election on the next ballot, then doing a 180 with, ?actually the fan vote has very little bearing on anything at all.? The inner workings of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continue to vex me! And that?s even before getting into the very, very broad definition they follow of what constitutes rock music. Is it absolutely impossible to rename it simply the Music Hall of Fame? Because I would not call Mariah Carey, the Queen of Christmas, rock ?n? roll? but that doesn?t mean she isn?t pissed right now at being snubbed (again). She most certainly is.
Anyway, congratulations to all the talented inductees (and nominees!) who enrich our lives with their contributions to music of all varieties. And a special bravo to Chubby Checker, who?s still twisting on tour at 83. Mick Jagger, who?

| Gwyneth Paltrow is getting 'a little bit sick' of her latest diet, the Paleo Diet | Added 2 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

One of Gwyneth Paltrow?s greatest passions is ?diets.? She loves a diet. She loves trying new diets. She loves mixing and matching different crazy diets. I remember in the early days of her Goop newsletter, every other week she was on some kind of ?juice cleanse? or starvation diet (?fasting? for elites). Over the years, she?s promoted strict elimination diets, macrobiotic diets and Paleo diets. At one point, she even admitted that her doctors basically told her that she was making herself really sick with all of the dieting, and that her bones were really fragile (because she hasn?t ingested vital nutrients in thirty years). Oh, and don?t forget that she?s a regular IV user too, because she?s literally so food-disordered, she can?t just eat like a peasant or swallow vitamin supplements. Well, big news! Gwyneth has given up her Paleo diet.
Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed shes ditching her ultra-strict Paleo diet after years of being obsessed with eating healthily and restricting bread, cheese and pasta. The actress turned wellness guru, 52, who founded her wellness company GOOP in 2008, admitted shes sick of the caveman diet.
In recent years, Gwyneths diet involves drinking coffee for breakfast, bone broth for lunch and vegetables for dinner. The idea of the Paleo diet, also known as the Paleolithic or caveman diet, is to eliminate modern foods and eat what our ancestors would have. It advocates eating meat, vegetables, nuts and limited fruit, and excluding grains, legumes, dairy, salt, refined sugar and processed oils. Although its followers boast of benefits including weight loss, a smaller appetite, and more energy, there has been little research into its effects.
The Hollywood star turned to the Paleo diet a few years ago alongside her TV producer husband Brad Falchuk, 54. Speaking on her Goop podcast, she said: I went into hardcore macrobiotic for a certain time, that was an interesting chapter where I got obsessed with eating very very healthily. I really deepened my connection with food and the whole philosophy around macrobiotics which is essentially just how they eat in the mountains of Japan, so very local and seasonal. Lots of fish, vegetables, rice, no diary, no sugar etc. I think that period of time I might have got a little didactical about it.?
I was just so amazed that we had this power in our hands that if we treated ourselves well and hydrated and ate whole foods that we could just feel so much better. I was sort of intoxicated by that idea and I still feel that way to this day. Things have gotten a little more complicated with me and longer term with inflammation and stuff. Its the reason Brad and I became Paleo a few years ago now. Although I?m a little bit sick of it, if I?m honest. I?m getting back into eating sourdough bread, cheese ? there I said it. A little pasta after being strict with it for so long. But again I think its a good template, eating foods that are as whole and fresh as possible. I dont think there are any doctor or nutritionist that would refute that.
[From The Daily Mail]
?Things have gotten a little more complicated with me and longer term with inflammation and stuff.? ?And stuff? is doing such heavy lifting. Like? she has consistently refused to put it together that she?s made herself sick over the years by adhering to these extreme diets, in between starving herself and using IV drips. I can?t even imagine being this food-disordered for so many years and creating a whole ?wellness? company around it too. Gwyneth is in her 50s and she?s still got all of these hang-ups over food and it?s just, like? leave us out of your disorder, you know?

| Brian Tyree Henry confirms that Duchess Meghan sent him an As Ever gift box | Added 4 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In March, Brian Tyree Henry went on Kelly Clarkson?s show to promote his AppleTV series, Dope Thief. Brian is a really good talk-show guest he?s funny, he?s into pop culture, he?s friendly with some big stars and he likes to gossip. He ended up telling a really sweet story about working with Elizabeth Olsen and how they both became obsessed with With Love, Meghan, which had premiered several weeks earlier. Olsen and Henry were so obsessed with WLM that Olsen made her own version of ?flower sprinkles? for Brian for his wrap gift. Basically, he came across as a huge Meghan fan and like he was all-in on everything Meghan was doing. He also seemed to be pitching himself for a guest appearance on With Love, Meghan! Well, Meghan obviously saw the interview, and Meghan sent both Brian and Elizabeth some As Ever boxes. From Brian?s recent Variety interview:
Variety: It?s gotten out that you and your ?Panic Carefully? co-star Elizabeth Olsen became very invested in watching Meghan Markle?s ?With Love, Meghan? Netflix series while you were filming together in London. I?m told the Duchess of Sussex sent you a care package as a thank you when she heard?
BTH: She did! She sent me and Elizabeth Olsen wonderful, wonderful ? as ever ? boxes. The care that goes into what this woman does is not missed on me at all. I started my day off with a wonderful hibiscus tea that she sent. I believe a hand calligraphy note was on the box. And let me tell you something, those jams be jamming. Like, the preserves are where it?s at. And, of course, there?s flower sprinkles, which I don?t know why I?m being so cautious using! Because I want to use them right. Like, I don?t just want to put it on fries, you know what I mean? It has to be the right thing, I don?t know why. But I?m going to support this woman. She has found her niche, and it?s delightful. In a word, it?s delightful. It?s really, really kind for her to do that. And when I got back from London and saw this, I immediately called Elizabeth and was like, ?Did you get your box?!? We?re both incredibly grateful, and it?s really cool.
[From Variety]
This is so lovely. I know I pitch a lot of ideas for the Sussexes, but I hope Meghan hears me on this one: get Brian on WLM!! He would love to make pasta with you, or arrange flowers or anything, really. He?s charming and I love how he?s all-in on Meghan ?She has found her niche, and it?s delightful.? That?s how I feel too! I still don?t understand why so many people are so hateful about Meghan?s cooking show and lifestyle brand. If it?s not your jam, so be it and just continue on with your life. Like? there are grown-ass people throwing tantrums about flower sprinkles and jam. And the jam is amazing!! Anyway, I love that Olsen and Henry got As Ever boxes. Good job to the As Ever team!

| Glen Powell loves to eat a savory waffle with ketchup | Added 4 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Glen Powell has started a side hustle (don?t tell Tina Fey!) of condiments. Its not as oversaturated as celebs getting into beauty, I?ll give him that! Actually, this is a natural fit for Glen, a proud Texan who says the inspiration came from his family. Now Smash Kitchen has launched, and it boasts having products that are made in America with clean ingredients. The repertoire so far is select, consisting of ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and BBQ sauce, each offered in a classic or spicier mix, and available exclusively at Walmart. So Glen is making the rounds to promote his sauce, including this revealing food questionnaire in Us Weekly:
What is a dish or a sauce that you feel like is underappreciated?
The fun part about messing around with condiments is when you share your favorites with people, they start telling you what they put stuff on. I?ve heard the weirdest things. I had a person that was like, ?Yeah, I put ketchup on blueberries.? I?ve actually started loving ketchup on waffles. If you do the chicken and waffles with some hot honey ketchup, it?s fire.
What snack are you most obsessed with?
Obviously, Im obsessed with my dog Brisket, but I?m also obsessed with the actual meat. I like to put brisket on my breakfast taco. So I like to do a little scrambled eggs, a little slice of brisket or some chopped up brisket. Then you put some jalapenos and some hot sauce or barbecue sauce on it and call it a day.
What would be your last meal on Earth?
Honestly, I?m a big pork rib guy. I think I may hold the record for most ribs eaten at the Salt Like [BBQ] in Driftwood, Texas. The amount of ribs that I can take down is pretty extraordinary stuff. I would probably die very full after some pork ribs.
What makes the perfect margarita?
One of my favorite things to put in a margarita is crushed jalapenos. What I always do when I make drinks for people at my place is crush fresh jalapenos and an orange slice. It?s really, really good. You get that sweet and spice.
What food didnt you like as a kid?
I was never really big on cheese, although I do eat pizza. But there?s a large amount of cheeses that I find really gross. But I do eat pizza, so I don?t know exactly what that sensitivity is. Maybe it?s a texture thing, but yeah, you?ll notice I get very picky about cheese.
What do you order on a first date ? or NOT order on a first date?
I mean, I would say that no one?s ever really mastered the art of eating a lobster. I would say, probably, don?t do that. Oysters are always a good move. I would say that eating those pork ribs sounds like a pretty scary thing for a first date to witness. They probably won?t understand it until
we?re deep in the relationship.
[From Us Weekly]
True story: the full extent of my mother?s dating advice to me was ?don?t order spinach.? Similarly, regarding business meals she said ?don?t order spaghetti ? it gets everywhere!? So I appreciate Us Weekly getting down to essentials with Glen about what to order! As for ketchup on waffles, sigh. Granted, ketchup doesn?t do much for me to begin with. It?s just not my jam. I kind of get the hot honey aspect, since that has become popular with chicken and waffles. Personally, my choice would be to sauce that dish with sausage gravy. But I do agree with Glen in the sense that I am firmly in the savory camp for waffles and french toast, as opposed to sweet. I don?t f?k with maple syrup. I know, I?m probably missing a gene, but the upside is that I?m not so despondently disappointed at diners serving ?breakfast syrup? now. No, give me butter or give me death! Or more likely, I?m giving myself death via too much butter. But at least I loved what I ate! As Smash Kitchen?s website boldly proclaims: ?Serve proudly, sauce often.?
PS ? Glen?s breakfast taco sounds divine, but now I?m paranoid about a slice of brisket-the-food falling to the ground and getting snarfed up by Brisket-the-dog. Also, whats with Glen not liking cheese?!?
