On her everyday makeup necessities:
"Most days I don't get around to makeup. If I do, it's pretty simple: concealer, blush, mascara, and some lipcolor. If I'm really going for it, I might fill in my brows. Generally speaking, brows are underserved."
On her every day to red carpet look transition:
"The red carpet feels like a whole other side of me. What I wear during the day reflects utility. The red carpet is really fun. It's show business and we're putting on a show. A lot of people are involved in the styling and my voice is one of the smaller ones in the mix. You should hear the conversations. 'I think it's a smoky eye and a simple lip...' I make fun of everyone for being so invested."
On her favorite beauty advice:
"Putting on SPF should be like brushing your teeth."
On learning from her hairstylists:
"They taught me that letting my hair dry naturally - which is what I do every single day - is good for it... But it's not always going to look good. Pulling out the blow-dryer and the curling iron really does make a difference. But to be perfectly honest, I don't even know where the hair dryer is in my house."

Fergie, real name Stacy Ann Ferguson, will soon be known as Fergie, real name Fergie Duhamel. The Black Eyed Peas singer is petitioning the court after four and a half years of marriage to legally change her name to Fergie Duhamel.
According to papers, she wants the name change in order to “conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years.” No doubt as a preventative measure to not being the butt of Stacy’s mom jokes after she pops that baby out. *Starts humming*
For this to happen, she needs to publish a notice in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks like Ron Artest had to do when he became Metta World Peace. And then sacrifice a virgin to the head of her record label.

Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood?s 2011 biopic. ?I was like, ?Do I want to play the secretary to the boss man or do I want to be the boss man?? ? She curls up her nose. ?I want to be the boss man.? Finally, there was that other voice telling Danes to take the role. ?I was scared of it, and I thought, OK, right, that means I have to do it.?
The contemporaries she admires: ?I?m so impressed by Jennifer Lawrence and Carey Mulligan,? she says. ?They have this exquisite taste. They are very gifted in their ability to make great choices. I didn?t have that rudder.? It took a while to sift through the movie-star thing and realize she could just do what had drawn her to the industry in the first place. Acting. ?There?s the movie star that plays herself and the movie star like Meryl that has this wonderful, glamorous persona intact and is undone every time she takes on a new character. I think I?m astounded and titillated by that.?

The whole piece is lengthy and I only got about halfway through before I decided to save it for another day. Claire talks a lot about her education, going to Yale, slowly developing a close network of girlfriends, and she also talks a lot about being an out-of-work actress for many years, mostly because she didn?t want to just sign on to roles where she was playing ?the girl?. It?s interesting. Also interesting? From what I?ve read thus far, there are no quotes from Damian. Isn?t that weird?

Uma Thurman and her family are still on holiday in the south of France. We had photos of them one week ago, where we finally got to see little 1-year-old Luna?s face (she looks a lot like her dad, Arpad Busson). You can see Luna in some of these photos too, but they?re not as good as last week?s pics. Basically, it just looks like Arpad, Uma and the kids are having a grand old time on a yacht in Saint-Tropez. Luna is a little naked baby!
In last week?s photos, some of you theorized that 43-year-old Uma is pregnant yet again, because she dared to have a stomach that was not completely flat. Granted, I see what you see ? she looks ?bumpy? and she did just have a baby in her 40s already, so it?s not entirely impossible. But I think it?s far more likely that she?s just on vacation, drinking wine and eating big meals and she doesn?t really care if she has a tummy.
Plus, she?s smoking. Paparazzi got several photos of Uma puffing away on some cigarettes. Uma is the kind of woman who enjoys life ? she drinks, she smokes sometimes, she eats real food. I always think that Uma?s lifestyle is probably more ?European? you know? Meaning that she?s not obsessed with diets and Botox and always staying ?bikini-ready?. She just does whatever and enjoys her life. Now, would Uma smoke cigarettes while pregnant? Ugh. She did enjoy her wine when she was pregnant with Luna, so God knows.

Less than two weeks ago, Kristen Stewart was in Paris for Paris Fashion Week. She attended the Zuhair Murad show (remember the tapered lace pants?!) and the Chanel Fall/Winter show. If I had to choose, I?d say she looked better at the Chanel show. She wore booty shorts (ugh) and black leather fingerless gloves, and a rather nice white jacket. But what was REALLY interesting was that Kristen was seated next to Michael Pitt for the Chanel show. Michael Pitt, from Boardwalk Empire. Michael Pitt, who thinks he?s a genius-artist in the self-absorbed vein of James Franco (only somehow Pitt is even more pretentious). Well, now people are saying that Michael Pitt and Kristen Stewart are a couple. OH NOES.
Kristen Stewart finally has a reason to smile again. Despite the heartache over her break-up with ROBERT PATTINSON, the Twilight star has been secretly dating Boardwalk Empire actor MICHAEL PITT who she met at Paris Fashion Week.
A source said: ?Kristen?s not over Rob but she?s getting there and Michael?s helping her through it. She vowed to throw herself into work and be single this summer. But when she met Michael last week, they hit it off. They both hate the spotlight and are smart bookworm types.?

From what I can see, The Sun really was the ground-zero source for all of this speculation, and personally, I don?t really trust The Sun. They play fast and loose with their sourcing, with their timelines, and with their editorial decisions. I think it?s far more likely that The Sun realized they had photos of Kristen and Michael sitting beside each other and they decided to make up a story about the pair being a new couple.
That being said? I would love it if Kristen and Michael were dating. It would make me laugh and laugh. They?re both so grumpy. They?re both self-absorbed idiots who think they?re genius artists. And of course, they?re both ?smart bookworm types?. Cough.

If I didn?t know any better, I would say that Nicole Kidman has gained some weight. Not much, just 10 pounds or so. It looks really good on her, right? It?s also possible that what I?m seeing as weight gain is just a dress cut the wrong way for her bolt-ons. Back when Nicole had a small bust, she could wear high-neck gowns with ease and still look incredibly slender. But she?s finding out the curse of larger boobs now ? when you have a larger bust, you look heavier when you wear clothes with a high-neck.
Anyway, these are photos of Nicole at the Cinema for Peace gala in Berlin over the weekend. The event was specifically to honor UN women, and Nicole is embracing Lakshmi Puri, the UN Nation Assistant Secretary-General for Intergovernmental Support and Strategic Partnerships. Nicole won an award at the event. Her dress in Elie Saab Couture. I kind of think this would have been more striking as a gown, a column of pale blue sparkles, but it?s nice as a cocktail dress too. Nicole loves wearing pale colors, and this pale blue-grey doesn?t wash her out at all, which is nice. I like the simplicity of her low ponytail too. Her lips are still crazy though.
Nicole also covers the August issue of Vogue Germany. There are two covers actually, both of them head shots. I guess I like the black-and-white cover more.

Hugh Jackman fans should ready themselves for an onslaught of Aussie goodness in the coming weeks as he prepares for the release of The Wolverine. As such, Hugh covers the August issue of Hugh Jackman, and I do adore Hugh, but this is one of the cheesiest covers he’s ever done, right? I mean, it’s par for the course with Good Housekeeping, but it’s still hilarious. The magazine hasn’t released any good excerpts yet, but they have revealed a few tidbits, including that Hugh’s “recipe for romance” is “surprise.” Hugh told the publication, “If I bring Deb flowers every Tuesday, yeah, it?s nice, but is it romantic? Especially when a couple has children, so much of life is about your routine.” Then he revealed how he once surprised Deborrah by pretending he wouldn’t be home until very late and then arriving home early from a film set to sweep her off to a lunch at their favorite restaurant. That’s sweet, and I’m sure it was a much appreciated gesture and just the right amount of spontaneity without throwing an entire day’s schedule out of whack.
Hugh’s also entered the press conference realm (he is shown below at NYC’s Mandarin Oriental hotel), and he sat down for an interview with the Mail while recently in Montreal. Hugh has previously spoken about how his mother abandoned him with he was 8 years old, and touches more upon the topic (as well as many others) here:
On the appeal of Wolverine: “Kids can relate to it. Every teenager feels murderous and marginalised — just like the mutants in X-Men. I was bullied by my big brother. Playing Wolverine makes me think how I used to fight with my brother. He used to call me poofter and sissy for being interested in dancing. And by the time he said there was nothing wrong with that, I was too old. I was 18 then.?
He was abandoned by his mother at age 8: “She saw me off to school wearing a towel round her head and when I came back she was gone. Two days later there was a telegram saying she was in England. It took me years to realise it wasn’t temporary. I?ve been reunited with Mum since. We see each other four or five times a year.”
Is he lowering himself with a comic-book character? “I find it interesting. If I didn?t I?d get out. I was given three pages of script. [My wife] read them and said, ‘There are words like *kerpow* here.’ She thought it was beneath me. I was working with Trevor Nunn at the National Theatre (playing Curly in the 1998 production of Oklahoma). It?s the only time my wife has ever been wrong — and you can quote me on that.”
He gained 25 pounds in 12 weeks for the role: “The problem is my height. I’m 6ft 2in and lean but in the books he?s 5ft 3in and stocky. Part of the bulking-up was to make me look squatter — more Mike Tyson than Hugh Jackman. He was a touchstone because he?s ruthless and has that Wolverine build.”
Never meet your idols: “I said, ‘Good day Mr Eastwood, Hugh Jackman.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I know.’ So I said, ‘I’ve been told I occasionally look like you in films.’ And Mr Eastwood replied, ‘You’re holding up the line, kid.’ Well, I still watch his movies for inspiration …”
The trials of wearing claws: “In my living room, I?d walk around wearing the claws, to get used to them. I?ve got scars on one leg, punctures through the cheek, on my forehead.” But he stuck at it. “No one apart from Sean Connery has been in so many films in the same franchise.”
On his Wolverine fitness plan: “I used to go to the gym and see these guys pumping iron and I thought they were idiots. In what situation could you need to bench 350lb? I never understood the addiction, it?s just painful. But that?s what I do to become Wolverine.” Worse is the diet. “It’s not good for me to eat 6,000 calories a day. I have to eat a dozen eggs every day. I worry I’ll have a heart attack.”
It’s not all bad: “I shouldn?t gripe so much about what I have to do to become Wolverine. One thing that is good about having the body I have is it makes you more physically imposing. People back away when you?re in a crowd and give you more space.”
What went wrong with Australia? “Dunno. Was it a failure? I?m really proud of it, an epic about my homeland. Fantastic! I loved working with Baz. I guess somehow it didn?t catch fire at the box office.”

Aww, I feel kind of bad about Hugh’s feelings on Australia. It’s not his fault that the movie was an overwrought mess with hardly any commercial appeal whatsoever. It must be pretty crushing (to both him and Nicole Kidman) to try and honor one’s homeland in an epic film only to have it come crashing down. I remember reading that Baz hadn’t even finished editing the film until a few days before it was set to hit theaters. Yikes.
You know what’s even crazier about the fact that Hugh had to regain all that weight to play Wolverine in this latest movie? Well, he also had a false alarm a few years ago when the movie was set to begin production in spring 2011, but Darren Aronofsky dropped out of the movie at the last moment. So the entire production was postponed for several months, and then Hugh had to go and regain all of that muscle yet another time. He also had to lose and regain more weight for Les Miserables too. Ouch.
