Stepping out for their household needs, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz ventured out in New York City on Thursday (December 17).
The “Chicago” babe and her Fall Out Boy hubby headed to a local grocery store – braving the bitter cold Big Apple winter weather.
In other news, according to tabloid source, The National Enquirer, Nicole Richie wants to recruit Ms Simpson as her co-star on her still-in-development TV show.
It was reported last month that Richie will be developing a half-hour, scripted sitcom in which she is presented as a “professional woman with complicated family relationships.”
The show is yet to be titled and does not have a premiere date just yet.

Not losing sight of her heritage, Lucy Liu attended the Museum of Chinese in America 30th Anniversary Gala in New York City on Wednesday night (December 16).
The “Charlie’s Angels” actress looked stunning in a stylish black dress as she joined fellow guests including Alice Mong and Connie Chung.
Meanwhile, Miss Liu is currently among the stars voicing characters for “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom”.
Due out in theaters on June 3, 2011, the animated sequel boasts celebrity voices for big names including Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen and Jack Black.

For f-ck?s sake. I?m starting to think Demi Moore is part of some conspiracy to make people care about Twitter and herself, in that order. So, here?s the latest bullsh-t controversy: yesterday, Demi posted a photo of herself with a giraffe on Twitter (photo above), taken while she was doing a photo shoot for Harper?s Bazaar. Apparently, after Demi posted the photo on Twitter?s Twitpics, a couple of douchey commenters began heckling her and calling her ?old? and making fun of her neck or whatever. So she responded, on Twitter. And now the sh-t is being reported by Us Weekly. Gah!
Demi Moore has feelings, too.
On Wednesday, frequent Twitter-er Moore shared an outtake from a Tuesday photo shoot on a Santa Monica beach for Harper’s Bazaar. “Had the priviledge [sic] of working with a giraffe yesterday he was beautiful gentle and so amazing!” the 47 year-old actress wrote.
Immediately, Twitter followers chimed in with critiques: “sorrydemi that your self esteem is so low you can’t admit to a little Photoshopping,” one follower sniped, adding “And Ghost sucked.” (Retweeting the dig, Moore wrote “Thank you”).
A few hours later, another follower wrote, “sorry but you look old. specially your neck & cheecks at the second shot..”
This time, Moore posted a more pointed retort: “I’m 47 how am I supposed to look?”
In between the insults, the actress and wife to Ashton Kutcher received words of support. “WOW you look beautiful!!” wrote one fan.
A friend named “earthhealer” soothingly said, “never let those who try 2hurt U in..we all feel small sometimes Know UR fabulous loveable &Wanted!”
Moore has frequently denied that she’s resorted to plastic surgery to retain her youthful appearance. She also fought charges that, for a recent W magazine cover, editors Photoshopped her head on the body of a younger model with slimmer hips.

That being said, the picture that she posted was rather beautiful, and I don?t get why anyone would heckle her for it. This is Brad Pitt leaving what was probably a bitchin? party last night in Los Feliz, California. Fame Pictures says that Brad was out with a ?buddy? but no Angelina, and Brad drank ?2 margaritas and 3 tequila shots?. Fame Pictures then gets a little snippy and says Brad?s ?domestic family issues which might have lead to this stress-induced booze binge.? Right. Because no guy ever goes out for margaritas and tequila shots just because.
At first, I was going to get snippy because a lot of these photos are of Brad looking drunk as a skunk, getting into an SUV. I thought he was driving at first, but he?s not. He?s in the passenger seat. And he can barely open his eyes. I kind of think Brad has gotten to be that sad drunk guy - the one who falls asleep in the bar like a damn narcoleptic. I?ve never slept in a bar. I have passed out in the middle of a party though. But that was after a lot more than three tequila shots and two margaritas. Anyway, that seems to be the big Brad Pitt story today. He went out, got drunk, got a ride home, and probably drank a lot of water. Just looking at these photos makes me feel dehydrated.
There is one other story, though. Brad?s only film release this year, Inglourious Basterds, is looking more and more like it?s going to be picking up some big Oscar nominations. Christoph Waltz has been nominated by the Golden Globes, the SAGs, and most critics? awards for Best Supporting Actor. Diane Kruger has even been mentioned as a contender for supporting actress. Director Quentin Tarantino will likely campaign hard for another Best Director nomination, and maybe even a screenplay nom. And the film is probably a shoo-in for one of the Best Picture noms, which have been expanded to ten films this year. So far, Brad hasn?t gotten anything other than a mention in the SAG ensemble nom, but it will be interesting to see if he and Angelina show up for any of the awards shows. To celebrate the Basterds DVD release this week, People Magazine did this rather cloying story about what all of the Basterds cast thought of Brad:
It’s a glorious week for Brad Pitt and the Inglorious Basterds, with several major awards nominations and the film’s debut on DVD. Now, Pitt’s fellow cast members are sounding off on what their leading man was really like off-screen.
The consensus: Brad’s anything but “basterdly.”
Director Quentin Tarantino says Pitt is all dude. “The thing that really just comes to my mind when you say something like that is ? he is a guy,” Tarantino told PEOPLE at the launch party for the Basterds DVD at Los Angeles’s New Beverly Theater. “He’s a cool guy. You can have cool and fun man/boy discussions with him.”
The director has witnessed Pitt’s evolution since the star appeared in 1993’s True Romance, which Tarantino wrote. “One of the things that I loved working with him for on this movie was that I think that I’m working with the best Brad Pitt that I could be working with. He’s really grown into his iconic star status,” he says. “He’s a man now. He can be the sort of soldier.”
Costar Diane Kruger called Pitt “a devoted father. He’s really good with his kids, really amazing. They look up to him. It’s really nice to see that he’s so devoted.”
The Office star B.J. Novak, who plays one of Pitt’s soldiers in the film, described the star as “thoughtful” and “caring.” “He wanted to strike up conversations. He was thoughtful and he worked as hard as anybody,” Novak said. “I really felt like all that security around him, those vans and guards and stuff that looks like he would use to keep his life cooler, I think he just uses that to shut out the world and be more normal. Once he got in past the security team and everything, he was as normal and collaborative and happy as you can be.”
His cast members were also eager to ask about Pitt’s past film roles. “We all wanted to ask him about Kalifornia, True Romance, Fight Club, and he was totally fine with that! He loves it. He’s into making great movies,” said Eli Roth, the Hostel director who also played one of the war film’s basterds.
Roth adds: “He watched Hostel and then came in the next day and said, ‘Roth, you bastard! I couldn’t sleep at all last night, damn it!’ He was like, ‘You are way sicker than I thought.’ I think I went up a few notches in his book.”

Total overkill. Sure, I?ll buy that Brad?s probably nice to work with, but he?s not the pope, for God?s sake. There?s no reason to ask everyone for their Brad Pitt story.
Here?s another little interesting piece of gossip that keeps getting more and more interesting: if there ever is a Sherlock Holmes sequel, Brad Pitt keeps getting mentioned as potential casting for Prof. Moriarty, Sherlock?s biggest nemesis. MTV got Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr. to go on the record about the rumors - but they still aren?t confirming! Let?s see? did Prof. Moriarty drink tequila? That?s one way to get Brad to sign on!

Over the moon about becoming an aunt, Kim Kardashian certainly isn’t one to hold back when it comes to spoiling her baby nephew.
Just one day after sister Kourtney gave birth to baby Mason Disick, the E! reality beauty headed out shopping for gifts at boutiques including Intuition.
“She was super excited about her nephew and loved that she could scoop up some cool stuff for him!” a source tells People magazine.
Among the purchases, the insider tells that Kim picked up a “peace” hoodie, designed by celeb tattoo artist Mark Mahoney, specifically because she thought the design was really unique and unlike anything out there. And she thought the days of the week onsies were just adorable and something that Kourtney would love and could really use.”
Of little Mason;s arrival, Kim says that “the whole family is so thrilled, excited and blessed.”

After releasing her own fashion collection, the singer and reality TV star is allegedly in talks with jeweller Pascal Mouawad to create a new exclusive line.
An insider told Fox News: “Jess and her mom are really pushing the wedding rings. Jess wants her own line but Pascal isn’t so keen on that.
“He wants to work with her, but definitely doesn’t think wedding rings would be appropriate for Jessica.”

David Beckman appeared on George Lopez?s new late-night show yesterday, and Lopez got him to open up about his friendship with Tom Cruise. Beckham revealed some unintentionally hilarious details about his and Tom?s ?double dates? with their wives, and Beckham sort of sounds like he wanted to go on a date with Tom without their wives. But, Beckham says that one evening ended up being a ?nightmare?. And yes, it involved show tunes. My guess is Judy Garland.
David Beckham says it isn’t easy sitting down to dinner with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
“We were at dinner once with Tom and Katie … and we sat there and everyone was like, ‘OK, let’s play a music game, let’s start a singing game!’” Beckham, 34, recalled on George Lopez’s TBS late night show, Lopez Tonight, Wednesday.
Singing in public, he said, “is my worst nightmare!”
Beckham said he noticed one of his friends was dining at another table nearby.
“So I was texting my friend, ‘Oh, please, invite me to your table!’” said Beckham. “I kind of get uncomfortable with that.”
Kidding aside, Beckham said Cruise, 47, and Holmes, 30, “are amazing parents and really good people,” he said. “You say there’s good looking people, and you look at Tom, and he’s one of the most handsome men I’ve ever met.”

Alright, that was false advertising, I have no idea if the music was Judy, or any show tune. But you secretly know I?m right. Anyway, I watched part of the Lopez interview (video below of Part III), and I have to say, Beckham usually comes across as one of the nicest guys in the world. True, he doesn?t seem that bright, but he seems like a real sweetheart, and game for whatever nonsense anyone can throw at him. Hey, at least David Beckham didn’t get a “Chola Girl” makeover.

A few days ago, the sketchy breaking news was that Alex Rodriguez had spent the weekend in Miami, hitting on every woman with a pulse. That begat reports that he and Kate Hudson were ?over?. This was confirmed a day later when Us Weekly ran a story about A-Rod feeling ?smothered? by Kate, and how Kate just wanted to get married or move in together, and that A-Rod did the dumping. Later reports were split on what exactly happened in the end, and who exactly ended it. People Magazine reported that both Kate and Alex ?wanted things to die down? and they decided to move on? and that they both are ?fine? after the split. People also notes that ?They may not be done working it out though.? Ever optimistic!
Meanwhile, Star Magazine seemed to get the bitchier sources, of course, and one person claims: ?They started having problems about a month ago and tried like crazy to work through their differences. Unfortunately, they kept realizing they were on different pages and it was never going to work out, especially on Alex’s end. Alex just wasn’t ready for the things Kate wants.” Star points to Kate?s insistence that they move in together, into a New York penthouse, and Alex decided at that point that he ?needed to cool things down and take a step back.”
I will say this: Kate really does seem to be doing well. She?s never been one to weep on cue for the press or throw herself a little pity party, and when she went to New York Nine premiere (with her mom), she looked great and happy. So that makes the two reports of Kate?s alleged sorrow seem like bullsh-t. But still, it?s good gossip. My favorite is this one, from Page Six - Madonna (also A-Rod?s ex) consoling Kate at the Nine premiere:
Kate Hudson, upset by her breakup with Alex Rodriguez, found a sympathetic ear at the local premiere of “Nine.”
At Tuesday’s after-party at M2 in Chelsea, Hudson was seen chatting quietly with Madonna, who dated the Yankee slugger last year. “When the cameras were on Kate she was all smiles. But privately you could tell she has had her heart broken,” a witness said.
Humiliated Hudson, who was reportedly dumped by A-Rod because he felt she was hogging the spotlight, also flew in her mom, Goldie Hawn, to support her. Mother and daughter drank dirty martinis at M2 “and hung out all night,” a spy told Page Six. “It was her big premiere, and she was upset Alex wasn’t there to support her.”
Hudson’s friends Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer tried to be supportive, but couldn’t make it through the aggressive crowd to congratulate her. The couple gave up and slipped out the back entrance into their waiting SUV.
While Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” became a Yankees anthem during the World Series victory, it was hardly music to Hudson’s ears. “When the song was played at the after-party, Kate looked at her mom and did a fake scream,” our source says.
Still, there’s hope for the relationship. A pal of Hudson told us they’re trying to make up.
The source said, “They had a huge fight in London at the premiere of ‘Nine,’ and Alex flew to Miami to hang out with his friends. But in the last few days he and Kate have started speaking again on the phone. She hopes they can work things out. But they are both very stubborn.”

Page Six isn?t the only one playing the ?Humiliated Hudson? card. Life & Style reports that Kate was being consoled by her mom Goldie Hawn just a few days ago. An ?onlooker? to the conversation told L&S: ?Kate began talking about the Tiger Woods situation. She was saying that she knows what it feels like. It sounded like she was talking about how guys have such a sex drive, they just can’t help it. It was clear Kate and A-Rod were fighting or had broken up from the way she was speaking about him. At one point, Goldie told Kate, ‘Just take the high road. Lead your own way.’”
One of Kate?s friends confirmed, sort of, telling L&S: ?Kate has some trust issues with A-Rod. She doesn’t know for sure if there is another woman, but there’s a girl she thinks he has a crush on. She’s been worrying about other women for a while and is definitely the jealous type.” Yeah? I actually wouldn?t doubt that A-Rod was cheating. He seems like the type to have girls on the side. Didn?t he screw around on his wife with lots of women? Ugh? Tiger Woods Syndrome.

Giving her a bit of a scare, Anne Hathaway was riding in an Audi A5 yesterday (December 16) when a cyclist ran into the car.
The “Princess Diaries” looked a bit shaken up as the young unidentified rider slammed into the right side of the car, knocking the mirror onto the ground.
Thankfully no one was hurt, and the cyclist, who declined medical treatment, was determined to have been at fault for the whole ordeal.
Nonetheless, Anne apparently needed to relieve some stress from the event and headed over to Spa Kiniara on Robertson Boulevard.

Fresh off of attending the premiere of “Nine” the previous evening, the happy twosome ended up picking up some Christmas gifts at a local store during the day’s retail session.
As for her new movie, Fergie chatted with press about her distinct singing style throughout the film.
She tells, “It’s very robust, almost man-like, very strong. A lot of songs I’ve done before haven’t called for that, and this brought that out in me. I remember, the first time I was on set, the first person I met was Daniel [Day-Lewis], and within fifteen minutes, I was standing at a piano where I had to belt out the song in front of him. I’d go back to my dressing room, and I’d find these little notes of encouragement and support; he’d written them to me as Guido. Like, “Great job! Love, Guido.” They were so cute and charming. But it really did encourage me. Singing like that was an evolution for me, and I’m sure it will carry over to my other work. I can’t wait to do this song live.”

Stocking up for the holidays, Nicole Richie stepped out for a retail romp in Hollywood, California on Wednesday afternoon (December 16).

And with the holiday season upon us, Miss Richie says she’ll be picking up plenty of eggnog in preparation of the wintertime festivities.
She tells, “I don’t have a lot of traditions. I have gotten a new Christmas ornament every year so I will probably do that. I’m a big eggnog drinker. Not the kind with alcohol in it, but the regular kind. I thought that everyone drinks eggnog, but as I’m getting older, I’m learning that people actually think it’s really gross, but I love it, so I will definitely have some eggnog!”
