Sunday night, Donald Trump decided to hate-tweet John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Trump?s beef was about how Legend didn?t give Trump credit for criminal justice reform? or something. Mostly, I think Trump just gets mad at African-Americans for not being ?grateful? enough and for not thanking him constantly. Which is actually a whole other conversation, and a conversation we?ve been having for years. Anyway, the story became a thing because, duh, the president was randomly hate-tweeting two popular celebrities, and because Trump was stupid enough to NOT tag Chrissy. He instead referred to her as Legend?s ?filthy-mouthed wife.? As I said on Monday, Chrissy lives on the internet. Trump came into HER house and of course she?s going to make this into a thing. She called him a ?p-ssy ass bitch.? And now she?s basically doing an interview tour.
Chrissy Teigen sits down for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which will air on the Wednesday (September 11) episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The 33-year-old model and TV personality unpacked the whole feud that she and John Legend got into with President Trump earlier this week on Twitter.
?Well, John did a story on MSNBC about criminal justice reform, so he was a part of that interview. I was not a part of it at all. And Donald, for some reason, thought John was taking all the credit for it, and me, and I didn?t even know he was filming this thing. Honestly I didn?t even know anything about it,? Chrissy said. ?He just went in. He called John a boring musician and his filthy-mouthed wife. Which, those two things are true. John is boring. I do have a filthy mouth,? she said. ?But when the card lands on you that day, it?s really just like, ugh, crap. Your whole night is ruined. We spent the entire rest of the night just sitting next to each other, handing each other our phone, ?Should I say this? Should I say this?? ?No.? ?Should I should say this? ?No. It has to be funnier.? ?No, because we?re mad.??
The tweet that Chrissy ended up writing said, ?lol what a psy ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.? Ellen said that she couldn?t say it on live television, so they had to show it with censors!
?I?ve really gotten to this point where I don?t want to offend people just for a joke,? Chrissy said about how she?s changed her style on Twitter recently. When it came to replying to Trump she said, ?It was a weird feeling. I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it. The, ?I can?t believe this really happened right now.? He just goes on these rants, usually very late at night for him. You just wait for him to say something, but you don?t think it?s going to be you.?

Since every day in Trumplandia feels like a decade, I remember when Trump first started hate-tweeting celebrities AS PRESIDENT. Like, he was the president-elect, on the verge of the inauguration in January 2017, and he decided to hate-tweet Meryl Streep hours after the Golden Globes. That was shocking at the time, but after two and a half years, we?ve literally gotten used to it. It?s not that we?ve normalized it, it?s just that we?ve gotten so used to this broken man with a broken brain who is breaking everything in our country. It?s only news for about ten hours that THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES insulted John Legend and his nameless ?filthy-mouthed wife? because the Dumpster thought he wasn?t being given enough credit for something for which he deserves no credit. This era is bonkers.

Jennifer Aniston has a new profile in the New York Times this week. She?s promoting her Apple+ streaming series The Morning Show. The NYT describes her character as an Ann Curry-type, but? I think that?s kind of off-base, at least judging from the first trailer. I would say that it seems like Aniston is playing a Katie Couric-type perky & personable morning show anchor whose sunny optimism has become much more stagnant and jaded over time. Think, Katie Couric if she had stayed at the Today Show for all of Matt Lauer?s bullst. Anyway, this NYT piece wasn?t all that if you ask me, her InStyle cover interview was much more interesting and thorough. Some highlights:
Jennifer & her friends really do literal goddess circles: The women landed safely, switched planes and, the next night, gathered for a ritual they?ve been doing for three decades: a goddess circle. Seated on cushions, cross-legged on the living room floor, they passed around a beechwood talking stick decorated with feathers and charms, much as they had done for every major event of their lives. They had circled before Aniston?s weddings to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. They circled when babies were born, and when Aniston and Theroux had to put down their dog, Dolly.
On turning 50 this year: ?It?s so weird. There?s so much doom around that number? I?m entering into what I feel is one of the most creatively fulfilling periods of my life. Seriously, I?ve been doing this for 30 years and I feel like it?s just about to really bloom.?
What her ?Morning Show? character is about: ?Children, guilt, power struggle, being a woman in the industry, going through a divorce, publicly going through a divorce, feeling alienated, being just a little bit of a screw-up.?
Whether she has a #MeToo story: Aniston says she does not, though she has certainly experienced her share of sexism in 30 years in the business. ?Agents. Studios. Finding out what this actor made versus that actor made.?
On being well-known but never really, truly known: ?There?s a similarity to my life. I relate in ways of feeling like, when you don?t want to be seen, and you don?t want to go out of the house, and you want to just scream, and you don?t want to walk on a red carpet. I don?t want to stand behind a podium, I don?t want to have my photograph taken, I want to just cry today. You know??
Whether she could have played this character years ago: ?No. I didn?t have the experience. It?s taken time for me to get where I am and I put a lot of work into my craft. I?ve failed. I?ve succeeded. I?ve overcome. I?ve, you know, I?ve stayed around. I?m still here.?

While I am not tempted (whatsoever) to subscribe to Apple+, I think The Morning Show will be very successful, and I?m sure Jennifer will probably get nominated for awards and probably even win awards. Part of that will be about the work itself, part of it will be the prestige and money Apple puts behind the show, and part of it will be just Hollywood reaffirming to Jennifer that they?ll always see her as a TV actor. There?s nothing wrong with being a TV actor. But she ran away from that for years, and now she?s back in people?s homes again. And she?ll be rewarded for it. As for the literal goddess circles I always thought it was a figure of speech, like she was just talking about hanging out with her girlfriends. I really didnt know that they did true goddess circles for prayers and a talking stick and everything. Whoa.

Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter stepped out last night in New York City they went to dinner at La Esquina. As an old-school fan of Arrested Development, I have to ask my fellow AD peeps: doesn?t it look like Miley?s face is saying ?I made a huge mistake?? I?m getting that vibe. Honestly, though, maybe I?m projecting my own thoughts it could be that Miley was trying to just get through the crush of paparazzi and she didn?t look sad or mad or happy or anything. Do you think Miley has some regrets about what went down? And are those regrets softened by how much attention she?s getting for her jumpoff relationship with Kaitlynn?
Everyone?s talking about how Miley and Kaitlynn ?coordinated? in their black ensembles. Ah, to be young, blonde and fashionable, and to have it be a headline that you and your girlfriend are both wearing black. Personally, I really dislike Miley?s styling lately the bangs are a tragedy, but her whole ?stringy wet look? hairstyle is just the worst. Miley?s outfit isn?t too bad I actually love the coat and the trousers. I would wear the fk out of those trousers. Miley went to the Tom Ford show on Monday I wonder if part or all of her ensemble is Tom Ford? As for Kaitlynn, she just looks like she?s trying to fit in with whatever Miley wants. Good luck to Kaitlynn, because Miley cycles through personas and looks very quickly.

But she?s also promoting her contract with Mon Guerlain too she?s the face of Mon Guerlain?s perfumes, including the new fragrance, Intense. To shill for her perfume contract, Angelina chatted with Hello Magazine about Mother?s Day in her house, what she tries to teach her kids, and what it?s like to have so many teenagers right now. You can read the full piece here this interview was conducted in Paris back in July, when Angelina seemed to want to be photographed around the city with her godmother Jacqueline Bisset. Some highlights:
On Mother?s Day: On Mothers Day my children make me breakfast and pick me flowers ? they treat me like a lady. When I do take time for myself, I rediscover that softness I speak of I also realise I have more fight and resilience in me than I knew. But at my core Im soft and vulnerable its not my dream just to be strong. I want to be allowed to be soft and I don?t want to be harmed or feel unsupported when I am.
She loves Paris: Its wonderful to be back in Paris. It reminds me that I dont spend nearly enough time here. Sometimes were somewhere in our lives and cant really imagine something different ? we dont take ourselves out of a place. But when Im in Paris, I feel like a different person ? and I?m curious about that side of myself. It?s enlightening here.
How the latest Mon Guerlain Intense ad was shot in Cambodia: When I first started working with Guerlain in 2017, we spoke about how perfume commercials often capture a fantasy life ? and we wanted to deliver something that was a little heightened but still real. The first Mon Guerlain film was shot at my home in France. For this new perfume, given its strength and our conversations around femininity, freedom and making bold choices, my new home in Cambodia seemed like the natural setting. My [Maddox Jolie-Pitt] Foundation has been based in Cambodia for 17 years and it has been a dream of mine to live in that part of the world. The film is set in the home that I?ve finally built there.
Mother of teenagers: When your children are little you feel more mommy. When they are teenagers you start to remember yourself as a teenager. You see them going to punk clubs and you wonder why you cant go. Im in this fun moment where I?m rediscovering myself.
The values she tries to teach her kids: Kindness ? to others and themselves. Its important to be humble ? know the freedoms you have and what youve been blessed with and make sure you help others. And always remember your place ? we?re all human and very flawed. Were tiny pieces in a much bigger world. As they grow up, I find my children are strong individuals but still open-minded. I try to lead by example and be kind and gracious, as my mother was ? and loving and tolerant. But when theres a fight that needs to be had, get in there. We need to prepare the next generation because there?s so much happening in the world ? they?re up against it. Im working on a programme for children with the BBC. Were counting on our children so we must give them the right knowledge and support.

I? don?t know what to think? I think she?s saying that she?s not always tough as nails, she?s rarely tough as nails, and she?s not actually not some ballbuster who makes men cry. But? in the context of the Mother?s Day answer, it?s weird.

Here are some photos of Renee Zellweger at the TIFF premiere of Judy, the movie about the last year of Judy Garland?s life. For the premiere, Renee wore this buttony Ulyana Sergeenko dress which? I mean, the Duchess of Cambridge would love this, right? It feels very Kate. It feels very Renee too. Not my vibe, but whatever.
Anyway, I?ve been waiting to see what the critical reaction to Judy would be, because I was judging it harshly from the photos and the first trailer. The photos of Renee in Judy-drag are horrendous, and the trailer seemed? awful, to me at least. But apparently critics at TIFF love the movie and they?re trying to make ?Renee has Oscar buzz for playing Judy Garland? into a thing. Really?? Really:
