| Renee Zellweger in pink Prada at the BAFTAs: vintage prom style forever? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Trendspotting: this awards season, a lot of women have been doing ?vintage prom looks? for awards shows, have you noticed that? Florence Pugh has led the ?80s prom revival looks, and Zoe Kravitz and Renee Zellweger have led the 1950s prom revival. By that I mean, taffeta, vintage-inspired cuts, stiff-looking satin and pale, delicate colors. Renee wore this Pink Prada gown to the BAFTAs. It totally looks vintage and late 1950s/early 1960s. It?s okay I like that Renee just got into the habit of choosing vintage and vintage-flavored looks twenty years ago and stuck with it. That style works on her body and she ends up looking somewhat timeless. Though the Botox and plastic surgery help with that too. Also: Renee picked up the Best Actress BAFTA. She?s a sure thing.
Here?s Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent. I actually thought this was Burberry when I first saw it, it has Burberry vibes, but I guess Saint Laurent went for glittering gold and conservative. It?s a great look on her. And yes, Zoe has been in England filming The Batman she?s Selina Kyle.
Zazie Beetz in Marina Moscone. I? don?t like this? I feel like it?s the wrong color, and I also think the fit is off and that?s why her body language seems a bit uncomfortable? Love that she matched her lipstick perfectly though!!

| Naomie Harris in Michael Kors at the BAFTAs: metallic perfection? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I watched the first part of the BAFTAs red carpet stream on YouTube and then I took a nap. Im kind of burnt out on awards season and it was Sunday afternoon! Naomie Harris was one of my favorite early looks. She looked amazing in a silver metallic Michael Kors scoop neck dress with tiny tassels spread around it. I love her hair and styling here too. Naomie just looks so effortlessly chic. One complaint is that I would like to see a little more jewelry, but I think her team was being cautious and wanted the dress to be the star.
Naomi Ackie was another early standout in a lovely green/yellow Valentino with one voluminous sleeve. I like how restrained yet unique this dress is and it looks so comfortable and flowy. That long braid adds to the Grecian look.

| Scarlett Johansson in Versace at the BAFTAs: shockingly good or too 'showgirl?' | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Am I dumb for loving this Versace gown on Scarlett Johansson? I ask that for so many reasons. One, ScarJo says all of these crazy, offensive things in interviews, from her stanning of Woody Allen to her thoughts about being a Japanese tree, and yet we always ?forgive? her long enough to talk about her fashion. It also feels like I?m being dumb about this because ScarJo?s style has been struggling throughout this awards season, and this GOOD Versace feels like a bait-and-switch, like she?s about to fug it up massively at the Oscars. I feel similarly about Charlize Theron. Ladies, don?t waste your best looks at the BAFTAs! Save ?em for the Oscars. Anyway, yeah? ScarJo is a pill but this dress is great.
Vanessa Kirby in Valentino. This is? a cute cocktail dress, and considering she is best known for playing Princess Margaret on The Crown, entirely appropriate for a ?TV Girl.?
Taika Waititi won for Best Adapted Screenplay and he had the room, honestly. I think Taika might have the room wherever he goes. He?s become the It Dude of Hollywood/the world. He truly stood in front of a mostly British crowd and came very close to calling them colonizers. Bless.

| Charlize Theron in purple Dior at the BAFTAs: her best look of the awards season? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The 2020 BAFTAs were held last night in London. I always forget that this awards show actually brings out some interesting fashion. I also forget (every year) that the red carpet is exceptionally well-staged for photos. Unlike the Oscars, there aren?t 20 publicists and various flunkies gawking behind celebrities in photos. The lighting is usually pretty good too! And everything just seems more dignified. So? maybe that?s why Charlize Theron decided to really BRING IT for the BAFTAs. She wore this absolutely stunning custom Dior and part of me is SO MAD that she did not save this look for the Oscars. If she looks this amazing at the BAFTAs, that can only mean that she?ll show up to the Oscars bright orange and with her hair fashioned into a Beatles-esque bowl cut. Anyway, one of the best looks of the night, if not THE best. The only minor change? She kind of needs a bracelet, right?
Ella Balinska in Giambattista Valli. When mullet dresses go wrong? Or when they go right? I?m not a fan of mullet dresses and it absolutely looks like she wrapped a dust ruffle around her shoulders like a cape. And yet? the dress is definitely helped by her youth and beauty. Instead of looking bonkers, it looks fun and un-serious.
Jessie Buckley is underrated in Judy. I haven?t seen her hustle too much, but I hope she?s getting work. Unfortunately, she wore this tragic Miu Miu to the awards show. YIKES.
This is actually the right silhouette for Olivia Colman and it?s actually a lovely dress. Just a couple of edits and I think this would be one of her best looks ever?

| Joaquin Phoenix won the Best Actor BAFTA & wants to dismantle systemic racism | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Joaquin Phoenix picked up yet another Best Actor award at last night?s BAFTAs. No surprise there, just as there are no surprises in any of the acting categories. As I?ve said before, Joaquin even seems to be playing the awards-season game this year, perhaps because he doesn?t want to be so grumpy, perhaps for other reasons. I theorized that Joaquin was leaning into the Bummer Oscar Campaign, wherein he uses the awards season to raise awareness of the issues he cares about deeply, like environmentalism, veganism, sustainability, etc. He?s made references to those issues at previous awards shows. But let me tell you? at the BAFTAs, Joaquin SNAPPED. And it wasn?t about veganism either. Bro snapped about white supremacy and racism in the film industry. He truly got up at the Royal Albert Hall and spoke about how it?s white people?s responsibility to dismantle the white power structures and white supremacy that infects everything. He told the audience:
?I feel conflicted because so many of my fellow actors that are deserving don?t have that same privilege. I think that we send a very clear message to people of color that you?re not welcome here. I think that?s the message that we?re sending to people that have contributed so much to our medium and our industry, and in ways that we benefit from. I don?t think anybody wants a handout or preferential treatment, although that?s what we give ourselves every year. I think people just want to be acknowledged, appreciated and respected for their work.
This is not a self-righteous condemnation because I?m ashamed to say that I?m part of the problem. I have not done everything in my power to ensure that the sets I work on are inclusive, but I think it?s more than just having sets that are multicultural. We have to do the hard work to truly understand systemic racism. I think it is the obligation of the people that have created and perpetuate and benefit from a system of oppression to be the ones that dismantle it. So that?s on us.?
[From Deadline]
I mean? on one side, Joaquin is winning awards for a movie which was exploitative of the ?damaged white man? trope and how easily those damaged white men turn to violence (and are celebrated for it). On the other side, it?s a fking starting point. I appreciate that he is properly ashamed of his lack of movement to ensure more diverse/inclusive films. I appreciate that he?s telling the white people in the audience ?this is on US.? Here?s the

| Jennifer Lopez & Shakira put together a very good Super Bowl Halftime show | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sometimes, even when the Super Bowl Half-time show has good performers, it can still be a disaster. Sometimes, there will be bad performers doing a bad performance. The trickiest is when there?s a mediocre performer and they kill it. I?m thinking of Katy Perry, who managed to put together a surprisingly good/bizarre/interesting Half-time show several years back. Now, I like Shakira and Jennifer Lopez a lot for different reasons they?re both good dancers, Shakira is amazingly talented musically and Jennifer is a great celebrity (meaning, she?s gossip-worthy as hell).
So, I thought it was cool that they were doing it together in MIAMI. But I was not prepared for the show to feel so fun!! They set it up so Shakira got the first half and Jennifer the second half, then they came together at the end, with J Balvin and Bad Bunny coming in for drop-bys with ?Mi Gente,? ?Que Calor,? ?I Like It? and ?Mia.? And yes, both Shakira and J.Lo performed their classics! WAITING FOR TONIGHT! Empire! Wherever, Whenever. Love Don?t Cost A Thing! Jenny From the Block! AND Shakira opened with ?She Wolf,? one of my favorites.
Shakira?s half absolutely killed it, honestly. Jennifer? um, her strength isn?t her voice. But she was dancing and she was joyful and the Puerto Rico flag!! All in all, this was one of the best Half-time shows of the last? what? Five or six years? I?m struggling to remember when Maroon 5 turned up. Sh-t, that was last year!! YIKES. Justin Timberlake was 2018. Lady Gaga the year before (I remember liking her performance, even though it felt off-brand for the Super Bowl). And then in 2016, that was when Beyonce stormed in with her Formation during Coldplay?s Halftime show. So, yeah. This was the best one since 2016, and even then? Shakira and J.Lo put on a much more cohesive show than that Coldplay/Beyonce/Bruno Mars mess.

| Demi Lovato sang the anthem at the Super Bowl while Beyonce & Jay-Z sat | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem ahead of the Super Bowl. The artists selected for this gig have a different set of criteria than the ones selected for the Halftime show, have you noticed that? They?ll hire people not known for the strength of their voices for the Halftime show, but the NFL hires people (usually women) who can really SING for the National Anthem. I get that. It would disrespectful to a difficult-to-sing song to hire someone who is just going to phone it in. And Demi IS known for having a strong voice. So? how did she do?
I think she did great! A touch nervous at the start, but she warmed up quickly and hit all the notes. Unfortunately, the singing of anthem is not just about the song these days of course there were cutaway to all of the football players, and it appeared as if all of them stood for the anthem, and some even sang along. No protests, no kneeling? from the football players. Beyonce and Jay-Z were in attendance at the Super Bowl though, and they didn?t stand for the anthem:

| Emilia Clarke in Schiaparelli at the BAFTAs: bizarre or pretty? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Emilia Clarke was in a low cut tight-fitting spaghetti strap Schiaparelli which was sporty and sexy at the same time. I like the bodice as its unique looking and I feel like I would wear it. There are these sparkly lines on the gown that look like theyre supposed to outline her skeleton. That feature is very weird to me.
Gillian Anderson was in a simple and elegant black velvet strapless Camilla and Marc gown. Look at how elegantly this is styled. Shes wearing a floral cluster diamond necklace and matching bracelet and the whole look is just stunning.
Daisy Ridley was lovely in custom black Oscar de la Renta featuring a bandeau top and sheer ribbed fabric along one arm. I like the cutout in the middle and think this is a clever way to strategically expose and cover skin.
