Over the weekend, Victoria Beckham celebrated her 50th birthday in style. The family gathered in London, and the Beckhams hosted a blowout, celebrity-intensive birthday party at Oswald?s, a private-member club. All of the Spice Girls were there. Tom Cruise was there. Marc Anthony was there. Gordon Ramsey, Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Guy Ritchie, Jason Statham and many more were there. Most importantly for Victoria, all of her kids came out and they all dressed to the nines. Hilariously, Brooklyn?s wife Nicola Peltz did not attend. She sent a supportive Instagram but stayed away. I wonder if Brooklyn was like ?babe, don?t come.?
I have a completely different view of the Beckhams after watching David?s excellent Netflix series. Victoria and David are so family-oriented and maybe even trauma-bonded after everything they?ve been through. It?s amazing that they?re still together. I?ll say this too I think Victoria got completely wasted at her party. She arrived at the party on crutches, and then David gave a piggyback ride to his clearly sh-tfaced wife after the party. Twelve-year-old Harper looked haunted by what she saw at the party. What she saw was a Spice Girls reunion:

Salma Hayek is currently starring in two movies at the box office, The Eternals and House of Gucci. Not only that, Salma has now become the 2709th celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In her acceptance speech, Salma encouraged people to pursue their dreams and never give up despite the odds. Salma said that she almost gave up in the beginning of her American career. Executives told her she would never get a job in Hollywood and that she should go back to doing telenovelas. Here?s People?s writeup of that:
During her acceptance speech, Hayek encouraged others to find something to love as much as she has loved cinema over the years.
If you think you arent good at it like I did, make yourself good at it, the House of Gucci star told the crowd. It doesnt have to be the movies. Be your best at everything you do.
Try to be better. Try to find the joy in what you do, she continued. Work hard. Prepare. Dont care what anybody says. But most importantly, dont listen to yourself when you bring yourself down.
The actress said a poor man who was on the floor and was very messed up attempted to attack her after she ignored his catcall while showing a friend around the area. Eventually, Hayek said, a pair of gentlemen from the Hells Angels stopped the man and escorted the women to their car.
Every time I thought about Hollywood Boulevard, this is what I remember, the star said at the ceremony. The truth is that when I went home that night, I said What am I doing here? Nobody wants me. I mean, I almost got killed today.
The Eternals actress also recalled facing racism both in both public and professional settings. Hayek recalled one studio telling her, Why dont you go back to the (Mexican) telenovelas? Youll never find a job here, which she claims happened many times.

I really like Salma despite her saying some of the most facepalm things I?ve ever heard. I believe Salma when she said folks in Hollywood were racist towards her. I believe that was about her being Mexican. The fact that Hollywood executives were telling Salma to go back to where she came from during a period where Latinx women were popular aesthetically says a lot about anti-Mexican sentiment in America particularly. Remember when Catherine Zeta-Jones, a Welsh woman, played a Spanish character in The Mask of Zorro?
I also cant believe that Salma was almost stabbed because she ignored a man?s catcalls (why are some men like this?). The beautiful thing about these anecdotes is that Salma never gave up on her dreams despite everything she?s been through. Salma comes from a very privileged background back in Mexico, but that does not mean that she did not have to work hard to get where she is now. Salma is now a household name and has done well for herself in her career. It must feel good for her to look back and see all she?s overcome.

Here are some photos from Saturday night?s LACMA Art + Film gala sponsored by Gucci. Salma Hayek?s husband owns Gucci so you would think that she gets the best looks from the fashion house, right? Wrong. To be fair, Salma?s look is far from the worst. But it?s still not great and I feel sorry for her that so few designers know what to do with such a top-heavy woman.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci I love the idea of putting Jodie in this shade of pink/fuschia. I would have liked to see this without the feathered ?sleeves? because I think she would have rocked it. As it is, she looks like she?s in a bad costume though.
Hailey Bieber had one of the better looks of the gala, and big surprise, she was not wearing Gucci. She wore this Saint Laurent Spring-Summer 2022, a minimalist gown which I really love. Would have loved it more if she had styled it differently the lip is too dark and her hair is way too severe.
Billie Eilish in Gucci. Honestly, not too bad? I don?t think she?s comfortable in it though. She has her arms crossed over her abdomen in every photo.
Miley Cyrus in Balenciaga. Eh. Honestly, I prefer this version of Miley.
Lil Nas X in Gucci. Truly the only person who looked good wearing those feather sleeves. He looks AMAZING in canary yellow too, my God.
Camila Morrone in Versace? eh. If you?re not going to wear Gucci to the Gucci-sponsored-event, at least make it interesting. This is such a snooze! It?s not even actively bad.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter. She looks like the hostess of a very nice theme restaurant! And I think she?s wearing a wig? Bendy looks nice.

Salma Hayek is 54. I?ve always found her beautiful and every time I see her, she looks even more amazing. Salma recently told Jada Pinkett Smith during her episode on Red Table Talk that she?s having some unexpected symptoms to menopause ? an even more curvaceous body. Among the many things the doctors said might happen as she entered this next phase of female empowerment, like gaining weight, hair growth in new and unwanted areas and irritability, the one thing they didn?t mention was her breasts growing. Salma said her boobs keep getting bigger and bigger and don?t show signs of slowing down.
When Salma Hayek first went to the doctor about starting to see signs of menopause, she was shocked by the potential symptoms they listed off.
The questions were terrifying, the 54-year-old actress said on the latest episode of Red Table Talk. They were asking me things like, Are your ears growing and theres hair growing out of them? Are you growing a mustache and a beard? Are you easily irritable? Are you crying for no reason? Are you gaining a lot of weight really fast that doesnt go away no matter what you do? Are you shrinking? And then they ask you, Is your vagina dry?
But the symptom that surprised Hayek the most once she started going through menopause was one they hadnt mentioned that her breasts would get larger.
The boobs grow a lot, she said. For some women they get smaller. But there are some women that when you gain weight, your boobs grow, and other women that when you have children and you breastfeed your boobs grow and they dont go back down, and then in some of the cases when you are in menopause they grow again. And I just happen to be one of those women where it happened in every, single step!
Hayek said that over the years, as her weight fluctuated through her pregnancy and now menopause, people have thought that she had plastic surgery.
A lot of people said that I had breast augmentation; I dont blame them! My boobs were smaller! So was the rest of my body, she said. But they have just kept growing. Many, many sizes. And my back has been really suffering from it. And not a lot of people talk about this.

In addition to the monster boobs, Salma?s also getting hot flashes, and they aren?t her favorite. She said she breathes through them and reminds herself they won?t last, but acknowledges they suck. I love that Salma doesn?t fault anyone for accusing her of having a boob job. She?s like, ?I would too, have you seen these things?? But that?s too bad she?s having back issues because of the extra weight in her chest. I know a few women with large chests who?ve suffered for years with back issues.
I haven?t watched the whole Red Table episode, so I don?t know how many of the other symptoms Salmas experienced. My boobs are also getting bigger, although they seem to fluctuate. Some days they?re massive and some days less so. I?m definitely familiar with mood swings (as is my family) and I have had to pluck my mustache more than ever. I assume my weight gain is peri/menopause

In 2017, Salma Hayek wrote a NYT op-ed detailing the years of harassment, abuse and threats she faced from Harvey Weinstein. Because of Salma?s friendships and professional relationships with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, that meant she often worked on films where Weinstein was the producer or distributor. The abuse ramped up around the production of Frida, with Weinstein leveraging his power to make Salma?s life a living hell on a daily basis. I bring this up because Salma has faced some really odious harassment and abuse during her career, but I?m not sure her story about doing a love scene in Desperado is one of those stories? I mean, it?s not great, and Salma takes pains to say that everyone was professional and lovely. But the story is kind of? ugh.
Salma Hayek on Monday went into detail about her experience shooting the love scene in her breakout film, Desperado, making it clear her trauma had nothing to do with the director or the star. The Oscar-nominated actress dropped by Armchair Expert, the popular weekly podcast hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. Among the topics they discussed was Hayeks first big break in Hollywood, 1995s Desperado, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Antonio Banderas. Hayek has previously noted she struggled with the love scene but opened up about the situation to Shepard and Padman.
Thrilled to land the role of the tough-as-nails Carolina in the Columbia Pictures film, Hayek said there was no mention of a love scene between her character and Banderas El Mariachi in the script. It was brought to her attention after production began. Telling Shepard and Padman that Rodriguez was her bro and his then-wife, producer Elizabeth Avelln, was her best friend, Hayek agreed to do the scene on a closed set. It would just be the four of them.
So, when we were going to start shooting, I started to sob, Hayek said, adding she kept saying to the other three people, I dont know that I can do it. Im afraid. She continued, One of the things I was afraid of was Antonio ? he was an absolute gentleman and so nice, and were still super close friends ? but he was very free. It scared me that for him, it was like nothing. I started crying, and he was like, Oh my God. Youre making me feel terrible. And I was so embarrassed that I was crying.
Hayek made clear several times that Rodriguez and Banderas were amazing and that Rodriguez never put pressure on me, but nonetheless, the moment was very traumatic and she recalls it vividly.
I was not letting go of the towel, she said. They would try to make me laugh. I would take it off for two seconds and start crying again. But we got through it. We did the best with what we could do at the time.
In the film, the love scene is done in quick cuts. Hayek said that was the best she could do among the starts and stops. When youre not you, then you can do it. But I keep thinking of my father and my brother, she explained of her hurdle. And are they going to see it? And are they going to get teased? Guys dont have that. Your father will be, Yeah! Thats my son!

The thing I?m catching on is that there was no love scene in the script, and then they asked her to do a love scene with nudity!! when the production already started. Even back then (the ?90s), there were all kinds of contractual clauses and negotiations between agents, directors, producers, etc. It would have been completely and totally inappropriate for Rodriguez to go to Salma one day once the production had already begun and ask her to do a love scene like that. I know that?s not the point of her story the point of her story is that it was her first love scene and she panicked and no one mistreated her that time. But WTF was going on with Rodriguez, the producers and her agent? Hmmm.

Salma Hayek is Franois-Henri Pinault?s second wife. They married in 2009, after she gave birth to their daughter Valentina. Their relationship was big news at the time, and they were part of a tabloid storyline because Pinault seemingly overlapped the start of his relationship with Hayek with the end of his relationship with Linda Evangelista, and then Linda had to sue Pinault for child support for their son. Crazy times back then for gossip. Anyway, Pinault and Evangelista eventually worked out their child support drama because Pinault is a for-real billionaire and, in context, what Linda was asking for was a drop in the bucket of his wealth. Salma stayed with him and she?s a very happy wife, and she defends him constantly. She?s always talking about the strength of their marriage and making him sound like he?s wonderful in every way. She did the same when she appeared on Dax Shepard?s Armchair Expert podcast:
Salma Hayek is opening up about her marriage to her husband Franois-Henri Pinault. Hayek, 54, explained how Pinault, 58, has made her a much better person on Mondays episode of the Armchair Expert podcast.
Can I say something about your husband, really quick? What a f?? nice, fun, generous, nice warm guy. Hes super sexy too, co-host Dax Shepard told the actress. He added, Im gonna be honest, I didnt know who he was, I just heard or maybe read in a headline that you had married a really rich guy. Maybe thats why she married him.
Hayek responded, You know the thing is that in pictures you cannot begin to guess the magic in him. Hes made me become a much better person, and grow in such a good, healthy way. And, you know, when I married him, everybody said, Oh, its arranged marriage, she married him for the money. Im like, Yeah, whatever, bitch. Think what you want. Fifteen years together, and we are strong in love. And I dont even get offended, Im like, Yeah, whatever, she said.
Hayek continued, Were touching on a very interesting conversation. There is a discrimination also to rich men. Immediately you think because somebodys rich, [they] might not be a good person, might be somebody materialistic, might be somebody that doesnt have values, might be somebody that is even stupid or that doesnt deserve it [or] that in order to have a lot of money, you did it the wrong way, there is all this preconceptions and I heard them, by the way.
The Like a Boss actor then defended her husbands character and said, My guy, finished work, no matter how hard it was ? and trust me he has a lot of responsibilities ? big smile on his face, happy to be home, happy to see me and the kids, make us laugh. We go on vacation, he completely shuts off, hes in the moment. Its not just an insult to me. Im not the one being judged only. They cannot begin to imagine what a joy that human being is.?

We don?t talk about Salma Hayek much and I haven?t thought about her in a while. The last time we covered her was when she was half defending Hilaria Baldwin. It makes sense that Salma would do that, celebrities cover for each other and try not to talk smack about each other or their spouses. Salma has been posting bikini selfies and she seems self absorbed, but that?s typical of celebrities. They?re surely missing the spotlight like the rest of us miss basic activities. Salma was on The Late Show promoting her new sci-fi movie with Owen Wilson, Bliss, now on Amazon. (It?s not getting good reviews at all.) Salma told Steven Colbert that she has a pet owl after thinking they were cute and wanting one or something. It?s unclear how she obtained said owl, but she made it sound like she looked it up online and applied to rescue one. She said it tries to drink a certain wine she likes and that it stays in her room at night. Since owls are nocturnal, she?ll feel the air move when it flies around. That sounds creepy as hell to me! If you follow Salma on Instagram you probably know about this owl. I follow her but barely pay attention to her posts so it was news to me.
How many pets do you have?
In London I have three, two dogs and one owl. [The owl is named] Kerring.
Why do you have an owl?
I became obsessed with the owls and dreaming about it. I said can people have owls? It turns out in London you can, its legal. I said are there any owls that need some rescue? I started doing some research and sure enough [you can].

Sometimes they bring you gifts that you dont necessarily know what to do with. She landed on my head [with a dead mouse]. I got her off [my head]. Thats where I draw the line. She does sleep in my room sometimes. I dont sleep much, but sometimes when I sleep she flies around. I just feel the wind as she passes. Sometimes she lands on my leg, on my head. At the beginning it was scary, but now Im used to it. She stays with me for a little bit and flies again so shes free in the room.
On feeding the owl
You order [mice] and freeze them. They dont drink any water. They dont drink liquids, but theres one kind of wine when we take it out, we have to cover the cups and shell dig in it. Its not like she thinks its blood because the other red wine she doesnt go for.
Her 13-year-old daughter is scared of the owl
She doesnt like the owl. Theres a lot of people in the house who dont like the owl. And also shes very quiet and you dont know shes there and she just flies and everybody screams. I love it when they scream. Isnt it fantastic to see the reaction of people, when they are afraid of something that isnt going to harm them?

I googled ?can you adopt an owl? and the answer is ?no,? in the US, unless you?re specially trained and licensed to work with owls and are rehabilitating them. There are other exemptions like breeding and falconry, but the way that Salma explained it she decided owls were awesome and so she got one. Here?s a link to a video explaining why owls make bad pets. They?re destructive, they have a killing instinct, they keep you up at night, they can scratch and hurt you, they?re high maintenance and they?re messy. There?s so much you have to go through to feed them and their feathers and poop get all over everything. Salma is in London now. It is legal to have a wild owl as a pet in the UK so she?s not violating any laws. She probably has other people cleaning up after the owl and doing the grunt work. Yes owls are adorable in photos, but I wouldn?t let a damn predatory bird in my house and I especially wouldnt let it in my bedroom at night! Its completely reasonable to be afraid of owls.

Salma Hayek posted this selfie on Tuesday with the hashtags #Wind and #Aire. Pretty normal selfie in paradise, nothing notable at all, right? Well someone decided to chime in on what they thought the selfie revealed: Botox. This person commented ?Too much Botox. Not needed, Salma. Salma?s response? I dont have Botox. But thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe its time.
First of all, I hate this now commonplace thing to insult celebrities ON THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA. Do it on Twitter without tagging them, by all means, or do it in a blog comment, sure. But I?ll never understand the need some people have to say demeaning or rude sh-t to celebrities on their own social media accounts. That?s rude as hell and should only be done when you?re calling out someone for something significant, like a lie or something. Salma didn?t even humble-brag about being ?all natural? in the selfie.
Second of all? this whole exchange had me spinning, because? I actually do think Salma has been subtly experimenting with some injectibles here and there? Nothing major, nothing Kardashian-esque. It?s perfectly possible that she?s not using Botox and it?s some other injectible. It?s possible she?s ageing naturally and she takes really good care of her skin. It?s possible that she?s doing everything plus surgery. I don?t know. All I do know is that I wouldn?t go on Salma?s IG and tell her that her face is frozen (because it?s not & because that?s rude).
