For a few years before Blake Shelton proposed, Gwen Stefani was dropping hints in her interviews about how much she wanted to get married, but she only wanted to get married to Blake if she could get her first marriage annulled. That confused the hell out of me Gwen and Gavin Rossdale were married for fourteen years and their marriage produced three children. How and why would the Catholic Church annul the marriage? Well, Blake ended up proposing to Gwen late last year, and of course she said yes. It was believed and widely reported that Gwen was prepared to marry Blake without getting an annulment, because the whole thing was moving at such a glacial pace. But look:
Fresh start! Gwen Stefani?s annulment from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale was ?finally granted? by the Catholic church, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
?Gwen was told the decision was made by the Vatican tribunal,? the insider says five years after the pair called it quits in August 2015. ?She will be receiving the notification in writing in the next few weeks, but it?s official.?
?It was a huge relief for Gwen because she wanted to get married by her priest and have the marriage recognized by the Catholic church,? the source says.

Again, I don?t know a lot about Catholicism and all of that, but is that really what happens? You just get a piece of paper saying ?that bitch got annulled?? I just thought it would be something in person, like a priest waving an incense stick over your body to purge the first marriage out of your body, something like that. Anyway, now Gwen and Blake have zero roadblocks. I bet they just do something small in Oklahoma, on his ranch, probably. A small pandemic wedding.
Meanwhile, Gwen was on the Tonight Show last week, and all she wanted to talk about was the engagement and how she was kind of mad that Blake waited so long to propose. She really is That Girl.

I havent seen Meagan Good much since she married Pastor DeVon Franklin in 2012. She has done a lot of work on TV over the last few years. Meagan and DeVon wrote a book called The Wait about how they remained celibate before marrying in order to create deeper intimacy in their relationship. Of course this revelation sort of ruined Meagans whole sexy girl routine that everyone became accustomed to. Meagan has released a passion project that would see her step into the role of director for the first time. If Not Now, When? was released January 8 and it centers four Black middle class women who were high school friends. Meagan says she had to do a Kickstarter to raise the funds to make the film but she could not raise enough. After being turned down multiple times by Hollywood execs who said no one would be interested in a movie that centered Black women *eye roll*, a private investor stepped in to help make If Not Now, When? a reality.
Meagan is profiled in The Daily Beast where she discusses what it was like as a Black actress seeking lead roles in Hollywood. She also talks about how it took four years to make her new project a reality and how she is proud to be a Black woman despite the rumors to the contrary. Below are a few excerpts from that interview.
On how long it took to get If Not Now, When? made
It took us about four years to get it made. Once I read the script and fell in love with it, Tam and I went out, and there were a few places that wanted to make it, but we wanted to make it the way that we wanted to make it. We raised a little money on Kickstarter, but it wasn?t enough, and then we had a private investor come in and started to pitch the project to him and he said, ?Stop?you had me at ?Black women.? I was raised by all women, and I do feel like this generation needs this story.? And that was that.
The general conversation [when I tried to pitch it] was, ?People don?t want to see a Black female drama.? And we would say, ?That?s not true. We?ve had Waiting to Exhale and Set It Off. We just haven?t had it much in this generation.? Yes, we have ensembles and comedies, but we haven?t quite had anything that reminds me of the films we used to have in the ?90s, and we got a lot of pushback. But we thought, no, there?s an audience for this and we just need to find someone who believes in it the way we do.
I?ve been in the business for 30 years, and I can?t tell you how many times I?ve been told outright that I can?t play the lead in the movie because having a Black female lead is not going to sell overseas. I think that conversation has shifted over time but not dramatically. One of the biggest examples is Black Panther. People try to make excuses and say, ?Well, that?s because it was a Marvel movie.? No. It?s because we haven?t had the opportunity to do something like that.
On how Hollywood makes either tragedies or comedies about Black people
That?s a fact: It often is either the tragedy, or the cookout, or the comedy, or living in a certain ?hood?things that are culturally true experiences but can sometimes be caricatures and a lot of the time doesn?t represent every Black person. I grew up in Santa Clarita, California, and was one of one Black family growing up there. I dealt with a lot of racism and bullying, and coming into the industry, I was exposed to a lot of different people from a lot of walks of life. When I was 18 and I got my first serious boyfriend, he lived out in L.A., and when I went out there it was a culture shock for me, because I?d never seen that many Black people in one place. I was used to being one Black person in a sea of white people. I think that not every Black person?s experience as a human being is represented in film at the magnitude that it should be. And a lot of things that the film explores are not just Black women?s experiences, but I think it?s unique that you get to see it through their lens?women not being able to have babies, women not sure if they want to be a mother, women dealing with addiction and it?s not a drug you go buy off the street.
On being accused of skin bleaching
I love being a Black woman. I love even the struggle. I remember being in my early twenties and looking at some of my friends who were very frustrated with the commentary of, ?You may not play the lead because you?re Black, and that might not sell our movies,? or this or that. I thought, ?I can be bitter, or I can be better, and I can accept that when I accomplish something, I haven?t been given a damn thing. Nothing?s been given to me. I?ve worked tooth and nail for every single thing that God has allowed.? I take pride in that.

I have yet to figure out why Hollywood continues to sell this bullsh*t that Black actors don?t sell overseas? We have two decades of Will Smith and Denzel Washington being lead actors in action films that all did well overseas. We won?t even mention how well Black Panther did and there were several dark skinned Black women leads in that film too. It is time for Hollywood to piss or get off the pot and stop using this narrative that BIPOC don?t sell overseas when they have evidence to the contrary. I miss the 80s and 90s Black film movement. Spike Lee, John Singleton and Eddie Murphy brought my childhood and early adulthood to life. I am not sure what happened in the last 20 years in Black film specifically, but it would be nice to see more films that center BIPOC. We have definitely proven that we sell everywhere. If Hollywood is looking for evidence they?d need to look no further than Black Panther, Parasite, and Crazy Rich Asians. It would seem the world wants to see its diversity reflected in film and Hollywood?s excuse that BIPOC don?t sell overseas is just that, an excuse.
With that being said, I am glad Meagan is back in the game because she hasn?t been that active of late. If Not Now, When? seems like this generation?s Waiting to Exhale and I am here for it. I will definitely be forking over my coin to support Meagan in her directorial debut because it takes courage to create the art that you wish to see. I will not touch the religious stuff and celibacy because that is not my rodeo, but Im glad it worked for her. I do hope If Not Now, When? is successful because I am tired of the pain and struggle porn that seems to be the majority of films that center Black people specifically. I agree with Meagan when she says that Black people don?t all have the same experiences or story. I?d like to see our diverse experiences in Hollywood?s Black narratives. I think it would take more Black artists getting behind the camera to make diverse stories a reality, but there is proof that it can be done. There?s nothing in the Constitution about an outgoing president attending his successor?s inauguration. It?s just one of those historical norms, a precedent which is usually but not always followed, to signify one of our great American traditions, the peaceful transfer of power. Donald Trump will not attend Joe Biden?s inauguration and Donald Trump has done everything he can to ensure that the transfer of power is not peaceful, dignified or democratic. No one will miss Trump at all I?m very pleased that he won?t be there. Mike Pence has said that he would go. Biden was asked about Pence?s intention to attend, and Biden said he was happy about it. There is zero historical precedent for the outgoing baby-whispering fascist daughter of a president to attend the inauguration though. But Ivanka Trump seems to think she?s invited, and she?s apparently started a fight with her daddy about it.

Unnamed sources familiar with the outgoing president?s eldest daughter and senior White House adviser told the British publication that ?Ivanka is worried that her promising political career is in jeopardy and she?s doing whatever she can to save her reputation.?
Ms. Trump believes that ?being a good sport? will gain future supporters,? wrote The Daily Mail. ??She said she has to protect her own political aspirations and isn?t about to muck it all up by attending her dad?s 2024 campaign kick-off which is set for the same day. She?s leaving that for her dad and Don Jr.?

President Donald Trump, meanwhile, is reportedly furious because he views Ms. Trump?s presence at Biden?s swearing-in as a dig at him personally. Sources said that the historically unpopular lame-duck president warned Ms. Trump that her attendance will ultimately backfire.
?He said it?s an insult that she would even want to engage with the crooks that are trying to bring him down,? The Daily Mail said. ?The president told his daughter that her presence at the inauguration will cost her thousands of supporters and would be the worst decision she could ever make.?

If Ivanka does attend the inauguration, the only silver lining is that the FBI could arrest her right there for her part in inciting the terrorist attack full of murderous ?American patriots? as she called them. Ivanka is desperate to A) save her own skin, B) somehow retain her father?s unhinged terrorist base, C) get attention and D) not be charged with any crimes. I have no idea how or why she believes attending the Biden inauguration would help with any of that though. Besides, I doubt the Biden people will save an invitation for her, so this whole thing is moot.

Some of my migraines come from smacking my head repeatedly when someone I like does something stupid. The latest contestant on ?Boo, What?d You Do?? is Demi Lovato. Demi has had a rough year, what with almost marrying a celebrity stalker. Instead of dwelling on her broken heart, Demi channeled her energies into the 2020 US presidential election and calling out Trump for the despot he is. So, like the rest of us, Demi was shaken by the terrible events of Wednesday, January 6th, when homegrown terrorists staged a violent insurrection in the Capitol in Washington DC. And like the rest of us, Demi didn?t know what to say about what she was witnessing.

Theres new rumor that Kourtney Kardashian might be dating Blink 182 rocker Travis Baker. If this feels familiar, it is. There have been murmurs of a Kourt-Travis connection before, but they?ve always tamped those down with a just friends statement. Kourtney and Travis took their kids to church together in 2018 and went out for dinner after. Last March Travis went on record saying Kourtney was just his buddy. I guess that?s all changed now, because the two were spotted flirting? on Instagram. Kourtney posted some screenshots of Travis? favorite movie, True Romance, to which Travis responded, ?You?re so cool?. Travis also left some flame emoji comments on an IG shot Kourtney posted of herself in a bikini that was mostly butt. And I guess thats all the Internet detectives needed to declare this relationship verified.

Travis and his then-wife Shanna and Travis even appeared on a few episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians through his son Landon?s friendship with Kourtney?s son Mason.

If I?m reading this correctly, Kourtney and Travis met through Khloe when she moved next to him and Shanna. Is that how Travis? kid and Mason got to be friends as well? This family just cannot conceive of dating outside their circle, can they? The circle gets smaller when I look back and see that last time we discussed Travis? dating life it was with Rita Ora, who famously dated (and cheated on) Rob Kardashian. My gawd I?ll bet Christmas dinner at their house is fun. At least Travis is closer to her age than her kids ages, which wasnt the case with her last two boyfriends. Landon is 17 and Mason is 11, that seems off to me.
I am far more interested in the Prada bag that Kourtney supposedly gifted Alabama Barker, Travis? 15-year-old daughter. As it was pointed out in The Sun article, it was the same bag Kourtney bought Khloe for Christmas. I guess were supposed to be shocked by the $795 price tag, which is nothing to a Kardashian. I?d like to argue it?s the *same* bag she got Khloe. Maybe when they?d finished opening their gifts and posting photos to social media, nobody remembered what they?d actually received. Kourtney got a text from Travis telling her his kids got her a little something. She panicked, picked up the bag Khloe never bothered collecting, and Alabama got herself a new purse. Khloe, meanwhile, thinks she lost it, so she tells Kourtney it?s hidden away somewhere secure for a special occasion. I promise you the saga of that bag is going to last longer than Kourtney and Travis.
