Miranda Kerr has a new interview in New Beauty, mostly to promote her KORA Organics beauty/skincare line. The interviewer mentions that Miranda was more involved with ?wellness? before Gwyneth Paltrow, and it just reminded me that Miranda and Gwyneth are so much alike. But in Gwyneth?s case, I feel like she?s more willful in her pseudoscience, if that makes any sense. Like, Miranda genuinely believes in crystals and energies and the power of good thoughts. Gwyneth might genuinely believe in that stuff too, but mostly I think Gwyneth just throws nonsense at the wall to see what sticks and then finds a way to profit from it. Anyway, this Kerr interview starts off in a hilarious way, with Miranda insulting her now-husband Evan Spiegel. Some highlights:
Her first impression of Evan Spiegel: ?I thought, ?Oh, this guy is cute. But, ?Wow, his skin is flaky!? I was like, ?Why don?t you try this,? and I gave him the Noni Glow Face Oil ($68). Ever since, he hasn?t stopped using it! He always says, ?Oh my God, Miranda, this is the only product that has helped my dry skin.? Now, he won?t go anywhere without it.?
Miranda on being the original Goop: ?It?s funny because I remember giving Gwyneth the products when I had launched in 2009. At the time, she was talking about how she just started this website called goop, and I was like, ?Oh! That sounds right up my alley.? Now our products are sold on her site, so it?s really come full circle. I know the self-tanner is flying off the shelves because she texted me recently and said, ?This tanning lotion is incredible. I can?t believe the sales. It?s crazy!?
The changing conversations on wellness: ?I think it?s really exciting that people are becoming much more educated and aware of the benefits of health and wellness. They?re looking for those different self-care avenues and practices that will uplift them and complement their lifestyles. There are so many different tools out there that can work, but everyone is different. Somebody?s medicine might be somebody else?s poison. it?s important to find what supports you and your wellness and explore that further?.I?ve always said that I try to be 80-percent healthy and 20-percent indulgent across all areas?not just in what I eat, but in general. Even my character is 80-percent good girl and 20-percent naughty. I think it?s important to not put pressure on yourself to be super strict about anything. Balance is important.
How she eats: ?It?s the same way when I eat. I love to eat healthy, but I also love to indulge. I eat out sometimes and it?s not organic. If I go to a friend?s house, I?m not going to ask, ?Is it organic?? I?m going to enjoy the food they prepared for me with love. I?m not going to be crazy.
Flynn is involved too: ?He did a project at school about healthy food and said something like, ?I?m blessed to be able to eat healthy, organic food.? Then he picked up a vegetable and asked if it was organic. I told him, ?Yes, Flynn, we grew it in our backyard, it?s organic.? He?s so inquisitive and curious. He loves watching me cook, and he also loves yoga. When he was in my belly, I would do yoga every day, so he has a deep connection with it?we still do yoga together at least once a week. He?s also very aware of his environment. He loves being outdoors, and he?s really conscious of things like turning off the water when he?s brushing his teeth, and taking a quick shower. He also picks up trash when he sees it. I think teaching children at a young age to do all of these little things like turning the tap off, or turning the lights off, or bringing the reusable bag to the supermarket, are things everyone can do. They make a big difference.
One of her wellness musts: ?I even have something installed in my Malibu house to turn out all the power while we sleep. It?s basically a button that turns all the power off, except for the fridge and security cameras, in the nighttime. So when you go to sleep, you don?t have any Wi-Fi or electricity in the house at all.

That button that turns the power out while they sleep? that?s fascinating to me. So she doesn?t have an alarm clock or something by the bed which is plugged in? What about the water heater for the shower in the morning? So many questions. As for Evan?s dry skin? I feel like she probably shouldn?t share that, but it was all part of a longer testimonial she was making on his behalf. Miranda says repeatedly that Evan is obsessed with his KORA Organics products and he swears by them.
This pissed me off: ?There are so many different tools out there that can work, but everyone is different. Somebody?s medicine might be somebody else?s poison.? Yeah, I get that she?s trying to make an argument for less Western medicine, but much like Gwyneth?s reliance on pseudoscience, I find it disturbing when people equate ?medicine? with ?poison.? It?s extremely unhelpful.

Kim Kardashian?s ?wet look? Thierry Mugler ensemble at this year?s Met Gala did not seem particularly ?on theme? to me, but I also acknowledged that Kim is very campy in general, so anything she does comes across as camp. Kim?s whole look was very thought-out, from the shiny, damp-looking hair to her glistening skin to the tiny crystals hanging off the Mugler dress, all giving the effect of ?she just climbed out of the ocean.? The Mugler number was also notable because Kim was cinched in there to a crazy degree she got a custom Mister Pearl corset which made her waist look SO tiny, and there was even talk that Kim might have had some of her ribs removed. Well, in Kim?s WSJ. Magazine interview, she talked about that corset and how painful it really was.
Kim Kardashian is opening up about the pain she experienced at the 2019 Met Gala. The 38-year-old reality star explained that the corset she wore to the event caused her the most pain she has ever felt in her life. Kim wore a Thierry Mugler look paired with a Mister Pearl corset that didn?t allow her to sit down and required that she take breathing lessons so she didn?t pass out.
?I have never felt pain like that in my life. I?ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off ? the indentations on my back and my stomach,? Kim told WSJ Magazine.
As for the rumors she had ribs removed to squeeze into the corset and dress, Kim responded, ?I don?t even know if that?s possible!?

I believe her I believe that the corset was painful and that it left marks on her body and that she probably felt like she was going to pass out. That would be my nightmare doing something terrible for ?fashion? only to pass out at the Met Gala. My concern would also be for my internal organs surely it?s not healthy for your body to be cinched into a too-tight corset for hours at a time, to the point where you can?t even sit down? So, you?re in terrible pain, you can?t sit down, and you?ve basically been sewn into your dress so you can?t have a moment to unbuckle or unzip anything briefly just to catch your breath. That?s hell. I?m describing hell. All for the Met Gala, smh.

Angelina Jolie has been in Paris for the past three or four days. I think the trip is half-business, half-pleasure. A few days ago, she shot a new ad for Guerlain, and the paparazzi got some shots of her in lingerie, looking tousled and beautiful on a balcony or something. Then they photographed her out and about in Paris this week, and the photos are very pretty. She stepped out solo in white slacks and a pale grey sweater which I WANT, it?s so gorgeous. And then she caused, like, an international incident when she spent time with Jacqueline Bisset.
Bisset is actually Angelina?s godmother Bisset knew her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, and I think Bisset knew/knows Jon Voight too. Bisset and Angelina seem to check in with each other every few years. While Bisset is English, I believe she lives in France most of the time, if not all the time. Maybe Angelina called her godmother up for lunch while she (Angelina) was in town, I really don?t know. Angelina and Jacqueline have hung out twice in two days, and on Tuesday, when they exited the hotel, a huge group of people swarmed around them. It was all very epic. Bisset looks amazing, right? Angelina looks great too I love her summer maxi dress. It?s such a good dress that I suspect she didn?t pick it out herself.
You know what I wonder? I wonder if Angelina Jolie was doing more than a Guerlain shoot while she was in Paris. We?re in early July, it?s conceivable that was doing a photoshoot for an October-issue magazine in Paris, right? Maleficent: Mistress of Evil comes out in October! Perhaps a Vogue shoot? I wonder if Mario Testino or Annie Leibovitz is in Paris this week too.

Kourtney Kardashian turned 40 last April. She threw herself a big bash with her friends, her exes and a cake featuring her favorite pastime, showing her derriere. She?s just launched her lifestyle brand, Poosh. She?s in great shape, thanks to her keto diet. All in all, a great way to start off this next decade. But, as we learned from the latest KUWTK Sneak Peak, this isn?t the case. Kourtney tells sister Khloe that 40 has made her anxious about where she is in life and where she?s going.
?I do think that turning 40, like it almost makes you analyze like where you?re at in your life,? Kourtney told Khlo, 35. ?It?s just giving me anxiety.?
When Khlo asked what Kourtney was specifically thinking about, the mother of three ? she shares sons Mason, 9, and Reign, 4, and daughter Penelope, 7, with ex Scott Disick ? admitted that she wished she had more time.
?Now that I?m doing Poosh, I just always wish I had more time,? Kourtney said, noting her lifestyle website, as she began to tear up. ?I feel like I want to cry,? she said.
When Khlo asked ?Why?? Kourtney admitted, ?it gives me anxiety.?
Kourtney tearfully explained that she doesn?t ?know why because then I?m like I have so much and I should just be so happy.?
?But you?re not happy?? Khlo inquired.
?I mean, I am,? an emotional Kourtney replied. ?But then sometimes I?m just like it makes you really like analyze just like where you?re at and then I?m like sometimes, ?What am I doing?? ?
As Kourtney wiped away tears, Khlo asked, ?What are you doing wrong??
While Kourtney believed she was doing ?nothing? wrong, and that she was ?just living life,? she did admit: ?but then sometimes I?m like I?ll just do stupid s? to like distract from really thinking about stuff that is maybe more important. I don?t know. But then half of me is like, ?Live your life, have fun.? ?
Attempting to comfort her older sister, Khlo shared, ?But if that makes you happy, you know that?s completely okay for your life. What if you enjoy the life that you have right now? If you?re happy, that?s all that should matter for any of us. But I really don?t think your soul is happy. I think you feel incomplete somewhere that you?re scared.?

You can watch the clip here. The backdrop is Kourtneys beautiful backyard with kids happily playing in the pool. Kourtney spends as much time trying to keep her makeup from running as she does expressing where her head is. But that?s the only snark I will throw at her over this because I actually feel a little bad for her. Like Jada Pinkett Smith said recently, a lot of folks think if you have money, pretty real estate and an extensive wardrobe, you should be happy. As if that?s all thatmakes up happiness. But material trappings don?t equate to peace of mind. I only know the Kardashians through clips. It could very well be that Kourtney is a spoiled brat who doesnt want to work. But I remember when she and Kim had their big blowup (although I suppose any conflict aired on KUWTK should be put in quotes) about Kourtney not working as hard as the other sisters. The line being pushed was that Kourtney is lazy, but I got a whiff of despondency to her un-involvement. Maybe I?m just feeling generous today, but I now see her her Paper Magazine interview in different context. In that article, she said she never expected KUWTK to go anywhere. I wonder, if she went back in time, if she?d choose to be involved with it. And maybe Poosh is more about filling a hole in her and not a hole in the oversaturated lifestyle market. Or maybe she wants to walk away but doesn?t know who she would be if she did, and considers herself too old now to find out.
Or, who knows, maybe this is all just another ?life crisis? conceived in the KUWTK writers room.
