Gearing up to start shooting her new movie “Mother & Child,” Naomi Watts was spotted checking into a hotel in Beverly Hills on Thursday (January 29).
While she has a house in the area, it’s though that Miss Watts may have just decided to shack up at the hotel to avoid the constant paparazzi attention near her house as shutterbugs try to get shots of her newborn son, Samuel.

The international press tour for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has been rather strange. First, Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett has been absent for a large part of promotional duties. Second, Brad Pitt has been promoting this thing non-stop for like three months. Third, many of Brad?s interviews border on the morose, perhaps because of the subject matter of the film, perhaps because Brad is in a more mature place now.
Benjamin Button is about to open in Britain, and Brad has a new interview in the Telegraph. Brad talks about death and dying again, but I?m really starting to feel him in this one. It?s one of his best interviews this whole press tour. First, Brad talks about Angelina and the kids, saying that he and Angie ?enhance each other?. He also makes some news by saying they?ve ?found no reason to stop? having kids, so they are definitely going to have another child.
Brad Pitt has a reputation for being cheery and affable when he is making a movie. But not this time: the dark shadow of death hung over the set of his latest film, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
Angelina Jolie’s mother died a month after they began filming, director David Fincher’s father died, as did writer Eric Roth’s mother. And, to top it all, the film’s controversial theme of ageing forced the actor to confront his own mortality.
“I walked away realising that time is short,” he says, talking on a sound stage at the Warner Bros studios in Burbank, California. “I don’t know if I have a day or 10 days or 10 years or 40 years. Am I halfway or am I close to the end? I don’t know, so I have to make sure I don’t waste those moments in any kind of pettiness or bitterness or laziness, and that I surround myself with the people who are most important to me.?
“Angelina and I are together because we can enhance each other. I don’t want to waste any time because I’m with company I really, really love.”
As well as Angelina Jolie, the company includes their adopted children Maddox, seven, Pax, five, Zahara, three, and their biological babies Shiloh, two, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who were born in last July.
To make the most of the time he has left, Pitt and Jolie are already planning to add more children to their family. “We haven’t found any reason to stop yet,” he laughs. “It’s chaos at times, but there’s such joy in the house. I look and there’s our boy from Vietnam and our daughter from Ethiopia, and our girl was born in Namibia, and our son is from Cambodia, and they’re brothers and sisters, man. They’re brothers and sisters and it’s a sight for elation.?
“We have the capability to give a child a home, and let me tell you it’s selfish, too, because the reward has been extraordinary.”
The twins, he says, mean double the pleasure. “One seemed simple, and it’s just double the fun. It’s surprising how soon their personalities have started emerging. But it’s really important that everyone gets their individual time as well as group time together.?
“We were four before, and we got into our rhythms and it worked. Then someone new comes in, and it discombobulates the movements for a moment, but then you settle in again and it just all works. Everyone’s pretty well integrated. It’s not the first time new kids have come in.”

Brad also talks about how much his life and perspective have changed in the past four years, and how playing Benjamin Button is a reflection of that change. Brad says that the kids haven?t started asking questions about death yet, but it?s coming. He also clarifies some issues about traveling with his children and their education, something many anxious parents fret over with this family.
Pitt is feeling a little jet-lagged, having flown in from Berlin, where he and the family are living temporarily while he films the Second World War story Inglorious Bastards for Quentin Tarantino.
He received a Golden Globe best-actor nomination for his role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in which he plays a man born old and wrinkled and then ages backwards. Aged 50, he falls in love with a 30-year-old woman (Cate Blanchett) and they must come to terms with the relationship as they age in opposite directions. “It’s about looking back on your significant moments in life,” he says.
The film’s story and the deaths of relatives of people around him set him thinking about pain and loss. “I had a friend who worked at a hospice, and he said people in their final moments don’t discuss their successes, awards or what books they wrote or what they accomplished. They only talk about their loves and their regrets, and I think that’s very telling.”
He has not yet discussed matters of life and death with his children. “Our oldest is seven and at the point where he’s asking these questions, but the others are too young, but I wrestle with it now.?
“It’s hard to help them fully comprehend this, and I don’t know if they’re meant to comprehend it yet, in all fairness, but it’s a big issue.”
Their filming schedules and charity work take Pitt and Jolie around the world, and the children go to school in whichever country they happen to be at the time. “We’re a very nomadic family, and it works for us,” says Pitt.
“The value of it is that the family becomes the core, and the kids may not understand the places they see at this early age, but I know it’s seeping into their consciousness. We move quite well, and I don’t think it’s taking its toll. We have to think about schooling, though, and we’re in an international programme, so wherever we go it’s the same curriculum.”

And finally, Brad talks about the charity work he?s involved in, specifically the Make It Right NOLA stuff. He says that 100 homes will be up by this time next year.
While filming demands keep him busy, his charity work takes up even more of his time. Like Jolie, he has learned to make good use of his celebrity status to promote the causes close to his heart, such as fighting poverty and hunger in third-world nations. A keen student of architecture and a close friend of leading architect Frank Gehry, he has also been using his money and knowledge to help rebuild areas of New Orleans devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
He says the project is going well: “We wanted to help people to be able to return to the city because they were in limbo and wanted to come back, but whole neighbourhoods had been wiped out. We saw this as an opportunity to be a proving ground for high-performance buildings and a greener approach.
“Now, for an area like this that suffered such injustice to suddenly become the greenest, most advance neighbourhood in the US is an incredible achievement. This time next year we’ll have more than 100 homes up, and there’s no reason this shouldn’t work outside New Orleans. There’s something at play here that is bigger than just a starting point.”
Pitt sees his duties as being a companion and father, making movies and helping charitable causes. “What’s valuable to me has become clearer as I’ve got older,” he says.
“To me, it’s about the value of your time and your day and the value of the people you spend it with. It’s about me being a strong father and guide and a good match for my significant other. Then, if I’m going to go to work, it must be something of value to me.
“I’m much more experienced now, so I can find films that are interesting quicker and cut out the films that don’t really matter. It means more to me now because my kids are going to see them, and I want them to be proud.”

After Warner Bros. revealed that they would make a third Tomb Raider movie without Angelina Jolie, everyone suspected Megan Fox to be the obvious successor. Not true says a representative for Fox. A spokesperson said, “Megan is not involved in this movie.”
This should put to rest all the unfounded rumors that Angelina 2.0 will star in what will probably be another crappy movie saved only by a busty heroine in low cut shirts.
Warner Bros. says the third installment will re-imagine the origins of Lara Croft and will be a major deviation from the previous films.

According to George Bluth Sr., Jeffrey Tambor, at a recent Upright Citizens Brgade performance, Michael Cera is no longer holding out which means the Arrested Development movie is a go. Tambor vowed, “If I have to call him up and say, ‘Get on set right now, young man,’ he’ll be there.” Jeffrey continued, “The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.” Granted, Tambor has been confirming the movie for a while now, but whatever. I believe him this time. Just like every other time.
Arrested Development is awesome and this is going to happen whether Michael Cera likes it or not. The cast will drag him kicking and screaming by his hair if they have to. If all else fails, I will personaly chain him to the back of my car and drive him on set and shout for him to “Act, you whiny bitch!” from behind Ron Howard.

“The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has revealed that she and husband Tim are expecting their third child. Elisabeth is due in August, she announced on Thursday’s broadcast of “The View.” So far, the TV host is feeling healthy except for a little bit of morning sickness and fatigue. Apparently, the nausea she was experiencing post-election and during the inauguration was not due to her outrage that her best buddies, John McCain and Palin, weren’t elected - it was because she was knocked up. Go figure!

On Thursday’s The View, Hasselbeck, 31, announced the happy news and revealed that she is due in August.
“We were thoroughly happy with the surprise of it,” she said. “I didn’t even know for two months ? I was walking around ? I thought I had ? I kept saying, ?Electionitis, electionitis.’
She said she felt sick while attending the inauguration earlier this month.
“I was tired, I was nauseous, I thought I was worn out from the whole procedure,” she went on. “No. I was knocked up and didn?t realize it.”
Hasselbeck and her husband Tim have two children: Grace, 3, and Taylor, 1.

This could be good and bad news. On the down side, viewers are going to be subjected to every gory detail of the pregnancy from now until August. It’s gong to be like Kathie Lee Gifford all over again. But then there’s the good news: she will no doubt be taking a maternity leave, which means at least six weeks of guest hosts. Hooray! Unless, of course, the producers at “The View” want to find someone equally as obnoxious, like Ann Coulter, to replace her. But what do I care- I never watch this piece of crap show anyway. All the women, with the exception of Whoopi, make me want to stick sharp objects in my ears.

Jessica Simpson has been tangled up in a $10 million lawsuit for over a year. She was paid $1 million by Speedfit, a workout company, to promote their exercise system. However Jess showed up to the shoot drunk (according to MSNBC), and Joe Simpson has done everything he could to make the video go away, including preventing its release. Now Speedfit owner Alex Astilean says Jessica?s recent weight gain is karma, as a result of Simpson pulling out of her contract and dragging out the lawsuit.
An exercise video featuring Jessica Simpson and produced by workout company Speedfit was leaked to the Internet Jan. 27 by Speedfit owner Alex Astilean. The video?s since been taken off YouTube, and Astilean is seething.
?This is a vendetta between me and (Jessica’s father) Joe Simpson,? Astilean said.
In 2007, Astilean sued Jessica Simpson for $10 million after she prevented the release of the video. Astilean says he paid Simpson a million dollars for her participation, and that she injured ?millions of fat people? by not allowing its release.
The case has lingered on so long, Astilean says he can no longer afford an attorney and will have to represent himself.
?I have a conference call with the judge on Feb. 5 and I will have to tell the judge that my house is being foreclosed on, I cannot afford an attorney,” says Astilean. ?But look at the pictures of her ? karma has hunted Jessica to the ground and she knows it.?

I don?t think weight gain is necessarily karma, but I do think this story shows just how unfair and manipulative Joe Simpson is. Jessica definitely came across as a moron in the little snippets of the Speedfit video, but not more than usual. And if she came to work drunk, that was her own fault. She also pocketed the $1 million, even though Joe Simpson has prevented the tape from being released. How unfair is that?

Amy Fisher could rationalize smoking crack in front of her kids if she tried hard enough. For her sake, I hope her quote about how ?people are sick of hearing about it,? isn?t true, since her notoriety is exactly what she?s basing her porn career on. From photos, she does appear to be in good shape, though I would never have said her face looks phenomenal. She?s certainly no better looking than most of the other women in porn. People aren?t paying for her movies because she?s the hottest woman out there; they?re paying for them because she?s Amy Fisher. End of story.
It?s really not my place to say that a woman shouldn?t be doing porn because she has kids. Ultimately that?s her decision. The Simpsons might be smarter than they look and sound. Ever since Jessica showed up with that spare tire, stories about her have been springing up left and right. One of the many is from Star. They say that Jessica’s boyfriend, Tony Romo, cheated on her in her own house while she was out of town.
Star gossips that Tony hit up an invite-only party at My House with Stephen Colletti from Laguna Beach and the midget from Entourage. Romo decided to have an after-party “back at [his] place,” which everyone found out was really Jessica Simpson’s place.
Amid Jessica’s gold albums, the party raged on downstairs. But on the second floor, Tony was enjoying his own private party ? with a long haired, olive-skinned cutie.
“Everyone was talking about it downstairs,” dishes the source. “The girls were saying it was so wrong and shady of Tony to cheat on Jessica ? especially in her place! I just can’t believe he would hook up with another woman at his own girlfriend’s house.”
Jessica must have been pissed after she read this. What a violation of trust. The first words out of her mouth probably were, “I hope you hid my M&M’s!”

Do estranged couples typically host house parties together? Maybe - in Hollywood. A recent party invitation asking guests to attend a function at the home of Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette had some tongues wagging, since the couple announced that they filed for divorce less than a month ago. Are they getting back together?
Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane are showing signs they may have patched things up.
I just got word that the two will cohost a party next week for a musician pal at their L.A.-area home. The soiree will take place almost exactly a month after the Medium star filed for divorce to end their two-and-a-half-year marriage.
The invite for the party reads, “Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette Invite You to Their Home to Witness the Spectacular Eric Lewis.”
Mr. Lewis, who also goes by ELEW, is scoring Jane’s feature film directorial debut, the 3-D horror film The Dark Country.
No word if Arquette has put a stop to the divorce proceedings. Citing irreconcilable differences in documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Jan. 5, Arquette requested sole legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Harlow Olivia Calliope, with visitation rights for Jane.
Reps for the two did not immediately comment.

There are a lot of different ways to look at this. Maybe the split is amicable enough that they can host a party together with no hard feelings. Or maybe they decided to carry on with a party that they’d planned together months in advance. Or, they really are getting back together. It’s been known to happen. They did seem like a nice fit and their divorce announcement was kind of a surprise. One thing’s for sure - the people attending the party will find out the deal one way or another.

Depending on your perspective on Tom Cruise?s popularity, his endorsement could go either way. But that hasn?t stopped Tom from declaring his support for Penelope Cruz for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars. Penelope is a in a pretty tight race with Viola Davis and Amy Adams for Catholic-drama Doubt, Taraji Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler). This category is actually up in the air - no one has a really great shot at it, and will most likely be one of the big surprises come Oscar night.
So is it a polite, sweet gesture that Tom Cruise is publicly supporting his ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz? I can?t tell. He was in Spain when he made the comments, and he?s still promoting the hell out of Valkyrie. One thing I?ll give Cruise - he really fulfills his publicity requirements to the fullest.
US star Tom Cruise said Tuesday he hopes Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, a former girlfriend, will win the Oscar for her role in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.
“It’s fantastic. I am very excited by her second nomination. I hope she wins,” he told reporters in Madrid, where he is promoting his new film “Valkyrie,” when asked about Cruz’s best supporting actress nomination.
Cruz’s family attended the Spanish premiere of the movie, about a plot to kill Adolf Hitler, at Madrid’s Teatro Real on Tuesday, Spanish media reported.
Cruise, 46 and Cruz, 34, met on the set of the 2001 film “Vanilla Sky”.
The couple, who spent long periods apart while filming, broke up at the end of January 2004, Cruise’s sister and publicist, Lee Anne DeVette, said at the time.
In an interview published Saturday in Spanish newspaper El Pais, Cruz said she wants to leave Los Angeles and divide her time between New York and Madrid.
“After a number of years in Los Angeles, I no longer want to live here, It will be better if I share my time between New York and Madrid, where my family is,” she said.
Cruz was nominated for best actress in 2007 for “Volver,” by Spanish director and longtime career mentor Pedro Almodovar.
The 81st annual Academy Awards will be held on February 22 at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater.

I have to give Penelope some credit too - she?s never really discussed in detail what happened between her and Cruise. The rumor at the time was that they were having difficulties with the long-distance thing, and she went off with Matthew McConaughey while they were filming Sahara.
Call me an old romantic, and accuse me of buying into Tom Cruise?s career resurgence a little, but I think Tom was really genuine in publicly stating his support for Penelope. And it is sweet, in my book. Praise Xenu!

It looks like Angelina Jolie wanna-be Megan Fox will not be taking over the “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” franchise after all. Multiple sources, including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, are confirming that Fox hasn’t been offered anything and her shooting schedule may not even allow her the time to do this film if she is offered the role. Currently, Fox is shooting the “Transformers” sequel. The “Tomb Raider” reboot is reportedly still in the very early stages of production - so expect a lot more rumors as time goes on.
Megan Fox is determined not to be hailed as the next Angelina Jolie - she has side-stepped a role as gun-toting movie tough girl LARA CROFT. Industry insiders tipped the Transformers beauty to replace Jolie as the sexy action heroine in the next outing of the franchise, adapted from the popular video game.
But Fox’s representative is adamant the actress won’t be stepping into Jolie’s boots.
A spokesperson for the star says, “Megan is not involved in this movie.”
Plans for the third film - a follow-up to 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life - are still going forward as producers cast a new villain and love interest, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

I’m wondering why there needs to be another “Lara Croft” movie. Neither of the first two were all that great. It would be a huge mistake for Megan Fox to set herself up in Jolie’s footsteps. There have already been so many comparisons between the two, based on their looks and tendencies to overshare in interviews. Better for Fox to find her own unique identity as an actress at this early stage in her career. Besides, even on his best day, Brian Austin Green can’t touch Brad Pitt.

Whatever. You know all the sisters sit behind closed doors calling Jessica a fatty. When they first saw that photo of Jessica at the chili cook-off, the first thing they did was push back their noses and make oinking noises. It must have sucked that someone held a mirror to them and pointed out the irony in that.

The first story she told Diane Sawyer was about how she went to the inauguration on her own last week without tickets and without a plan. She rode the train to DC, took a camera, and mingled among the crowd.
Renee: I had to be there. I’ve been obsessed… going on 9 years now. Just the possibility that this might become a reality this year I had to be part of it. With no tickets, and no plan and no access, I got on a train and I just went.
Sawyer: Could you wander around the crowd unrecognized?
Zellweger: There’s wasn’t so much wandering as it was bouncing around like a pinball inside the machine… I was prepared for the crowd, I was prepared for the cold, I wasn’t prepared for how emotional it would be. It was extraordinary. I’m so glad that I was there, even though I couldn’t feel my toes for about three days after I went.

That’s a cute story and it sounds like Zellweger was excited just to be a part of history. Good for her for going without getting special access, although maybe she just didn’t want to shell out the cash for a bleacher seat. Matt Damon said it would have cost him $25k a seat to attend the inauguration, even after he campaigned for Obama.
New In Town is set in Minnesota in the Winter and it was filmed in freezing cold Winnipeg, Canada. Zellweger told Sawyer that she had “lashsicles” and wore three pairs of pantyhose at a time to combat the cold.
Update: Renee told Regis & Kelly on her appearance this morning that people did recognize her. She said she spent three hours wandering around not knowing where she was but she ran in the right direction somehow about 10 minutes before 12 and was able to catch the inauguration on a jumbotron. A woman asked her if she was alone and took a picture of her with Renee’s Blackberry, which she showed on Regis and on Good Morning America today.

If she had said yes, this probably would have been a high-selling cover. With Playboy’s financial troubles due to the recession, Hef is willing to hire anyone who will sell covers and create publicity. And as we saw from the GQ cover, Jennifer can sell magazines.

Heartthrob Orlando Bloom, 32, was photographed yesterday on the LA set of his new film, Sympathy for Delicious, looking larger and much shaggier. The film is directed by Mark Ruffalo, who also stars, and features Laura Linney. IMDB has the plot synopsis as “A newly paralyzed DJ gets more than he bargained for when he seeks out the world of faith healing,” and it’s listed as a Comedy/Drama.
It’s nice to see Mark Ruffalo working again after the shooting death of his brother in early December. Ruffalo dropped out of another recent project after the tragedy. Orlando’s role was originally slated for James Franco, who had to give up the part when filming needed to be delayed.
Bloom will have some competition for the most fug on set - Juliette Lewis is also in the film, although her look is likely to improve once she goes through wardrobe.

Paris Hilton says she sometimes acts dumb on television to get laughs, but in real life she’s “a strong person” who’s been through a lot.
Appearing on the British morning show GMTV to launch her new reality show ?Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend?, Hilton, 27, said she cultivated her dumb blonde image for her hit FOX reality show ?The Simple Life?, costarring Nicole Ritchie, and it became her schtick.
“For five seasons I was stuck doing this character,” she says. “It was kind of hard always having to play that character when it’s not who I am.”
She adds, “I just say jokes but they think I’m serious, which I think is funny, and I think I kind of play up the image sometimes because ? whatever ? it’s just entertainment.”
In her British show, 12 young hopefuls battle it out to be crowned her official “British best friend.” In real life, Hilton says her fame makes it hard to find close, trustworthy friends.
“It’s difficult because you never know what people’s intentions are, and I think a lot of girls have become my friend for the wrong reasons and used me,” Hilton says. “I didn’t realize it but now, throughout the years, I’m realizing who those kind of people are.”

The couple strolled up the red carpet on Thursday for the Japan premiere of Pitt’s latest film, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” which gained him an Academy Award nomination for best actor.
Jolie, who already boasts an Oscar, has been nominated for the best actress award for her performance in “Changeling,” directed by Clint Eastwood.

In July 2008, Jolie gave birth in France to twins, a girl named Vivienne Marcheline and a boy named Knox Leon. Jolie and Pitt are parents to four other young children — adoptees Maddox, Pax and Zahara, and their first biological daughter, Shiloh.
Pitt said he was excited that the couple had been nominated for awards at the same time. “It is nice, we go and support each other — very cool and rare I think,” he said.
Pitt and Jolie arrived in Japan with all six of their children on Tuesday to promote their respective films.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” a costly drama that took decades to get to screen, leads the field of Oscar contenders with a total of 13 nominations — one short of the record shared by “All About Eve” (195O) and “Titanic” (1997).

All of us overanalyze the Jolie-Pitts, for better or for worse, but I wonder what Brad means. They can?t find the time for one measly little champagne toast? One high-five? One fist-bump? One night of raunchy sex at a hotel away from the kids? But I don?t blame them for spending their time with the babies. It must take all day just to repeatedly pinch their chubby little cheeks.

Is Angelina Jolie so tired from world traveling and too busy with the 6 kids that she didn't realize she was wearing her dress backwards? No she knew that the label was in the from instead according to Us Weekly.
Jolie purposefully turned around the dress — which was from Azria's spring 2009 collection — to make it "more blouson*.
Personally I think she made a mistake because I thought the dress made her look matrionally. Hopefully she will her dress the right way at the Oscars!

It has been almost two years since Anne Heche and her co-star/boyfriend/baby-daddy James Tupper left their respective spouses and children for each other. Now she’s pregnant with their child, a boy, and wants to get married before he’s born. James Tupper is a little hesitant, if only because of the small issue that he is still married to his estranged wife.
They went public with their romance in 2007, after Heche filed for divorce from her then-husband, Coley Laffoon, the father of her 6-year-old son Homer.
And now the actress is eager for Tupper to finalize his split from Katherine Mayfield, almost two years after he filed a petition for divorce.
A source tells Star magazine, “Anne has told him that it’s gone on long enough. She wants it finished.
“She doesn’t want to give birth to their son while his father is married to another woman. She knows how hard it is to get through a divorce, because she’s done it herself. But she can’t understand why it’s taking James so long to get his act together.”

James might actually be deliberately avoiding ending his marriage. Anne was in a lesbian relationship before ‘changing her mind’ as she puts it, and she also has an alter ego ‘Celestia’ who is an alien. Or talks to aliens. Or wants to be an alien. At first you might wonder why Pammy didn?t stay in a hotel, but I recently moved house, and while my furniture was in transit I stayed in a trailer park (euphemistically called a ‘holiday park’) because it was more kid friendly. It was a more upmarket version than what first springs to mind, and it had a pool, playground, and a three bedroom cabin. It was also just around the corner from my kids school. I can see why a mother of two young kids might want to stay somewhere with those kind of facilities.
Some of the trailer parks in Malibu are very upscale, with trailers that retail for up to a million. Actress Minnie Driver lives in a “trailer park” which has a private beachfront for residents and ocean views.
As for Anderson’s latest romance, it will probably last just about as long as she lives in the same neighborhood as the guy.
