It?s something that I keep coming back to when Alec first met Hilaria, she was probably doing that fake accent, and her ?Spanish backstory? fell apart like a cheap suit. How many people in Alec?s life were like ?hey, maybe this one is, how you say, loca?? We?ll probably never know how many people saw through Hilaria?s whole deal, but it will be interesting to watch how many people figure it out as they?re watching Alec and Hilaria?s new TLC show, The Baldwins (sidenote: I?m sure Hilaria wanted to call it Los Baldwinitos). This is their reality show and they?re putting their eleventy billion kids on camera too. Hilaria and Alec cover this week?s People Magazine to preview the show.
Alec wishes he didn?t have this many kids: ?I always joke with her and say, ?You know where I should be right now, don?t you? We should be on Geffen?s yacht, drinking a cappuccino and reading a book, and having dinner with Spielberg or whatever,? ? he says. Hilaria interjects: ?Instead we?re changing diapers!? Which is just the way they like it. ?This is my reality,? Alec says, reflecting on their family dynamic. ?I wouldn?t change anything,?
Hilaria on why they?ve done this show: ?Telling your story is one thing, and showing your story is something else,? says Hilaria. ?It felt authentic, it felt human. It felt very empowering.? On the show they get candid about hot topics, including whether they had a prenup. ?I said I would,? Hilaria recounts. ?And then you?re like, ?Okay, we don?t have to.? ?
Why Alec did the show: ?We did the show because it?s in place of doing a movie or a play. Now I think to myself, ?Am I going to be away from my kids five nights out of the week until 11 o?clock at night?? For me, work-

![Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce will 'have a break together' after a whirlwind two years Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce will 'have a break together' after a whirlwind two years](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_nHkXaBGUS_3115499_019-2.jpg) Taylor Swift did not have a good time in New Orleans. Neither did Travis Kelce. Taylor got the hell out of NOLA on Monday, hours after the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl. I still don?t know if Travis left with her, but I don?t think he did. Reportedly, she went to her home in Nashville, and it wouldn?t surprise me if Travis has to be in Kansas City for a few days, even with the loss. I?m sure there?s business to attend to. But after all the dust settles, it sounds like Travis and Taylor are going to take a big vacation.
With the Super Bowl finished and the Eras Tour now in the rearview, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are finally ready for some downtime. A source tells PEOPLE that the high-profile couple will ?have a break together? following the Kansas City Chiefs? 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9 in New Orleans, which ?was upsetting for everyone.?
?Their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating,? the insider says. ?Things seem great between them, and they?re incredibly happy together.?
Swift, 35, was a fixture at Chiefs games this past season, often bringing her friends and family members along to cheer from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium. The Super Bowl was no exception, as she brought brother Austin, dad Scott, and friends Ice Spice, Ashley Avignone and Este, Danielle and Alana Haim along to Caesars Superdome to root Kelce, 35, on as the Chiefs sought to become the first team in NFL history to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls.
?She truly loves watching Travis play,? the source adds. Kelce, too, was a fan of watching Swift in her element, as he attended more than a dozen Eras Tour shows ? and even joined his girlfriend onstage for a memorable cameo in London. The ?Fortnight? singer wrapped the record-shattering Eras Tour in December after almost two years on the road and nearly 150 shows.
[From People]
As a gossip historian, I feel like I should point out that back when Taylor dated Calvin Harris, they took a long, lovely tropical vacation together? and broke up just a few months later. We were like ?aw, they?re so in love, look at their sweet vacation? and soon after, she was on the Worldwide Tiddlebanging Tour. Anyway! That was nine years ago. It will be different this time. Travis is a different guy. Everyone?s older and wiser.
Meanwhile, this video is going viral in a good way Taylor was seen tipping staffers at a Grammys after-party two weekends ago. She?s been seen handing cash/tips to staffers at Arrowhead when she goes to Travis?s games too. She?s the kind of rich person who keeps fifties and hundred-dollar bills on hand so she can quickly tip people. Like? Taylor isn?t my fave, but I love that she?s not cheap and she gives out generous tips and bonuses.

![Princess Kate's spokesperson made a weird clarification to the 'no fashion IDs' thing Princess Kate's spokesperson made a weird clarification to the 'no fashion IDs' thing](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_AHtDlavalon-0960115471-2.jpg) A few weekends ago, Kensington Palace announced that they would no longer release information about the Princess of Wales?s clothes. Royal sources huffed and puffed about how the time had finally come for Kate to be seen as a woman of substance, and that identifying which designers she wore distracted from the important busywork Kate does every now and then, when she feels like it. As I pointed out, this was not the first time KP had tried to pull this ?don?t talk about Kate?s fashion? sh-t before, and they had to walk it back all of those other times too. Just like they?re doing now. It seems that several British papers published critical columns of Kate?s new ?substance over style? complaint. So now Kate and her office are complaining and explaining, will you look at that.
Kate Middleton?s office is clarifying the official policy for releasing details about her clothing following recent backlash over new palace guidance. After a week of discussion surrounding the Princess of Wales clothing and the possibility of changing the formal policy on sharing her fashion details, Kensington Palace issued a rare statement.
This follows a Feb. 1 Sunday Times article titled Princess of Wales: Focus on my work, not my wardrobe, which quoted a royal source saying that Kate ?wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting.?
On Tuesday, Feb. 11, a Kensington Palace spokesperson responded with a statement to PEOPLE: ?Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales?s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits. To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not The Princess of Wales, the statement continued. The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to The Princess of Wales. To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness?s clothing.?
In response to the Sunday Times report, several op-eds criticized the notion that Kate?s style should be downplayed, emphasizing the vital role it plays in shining a spotlight on British designers and boosting the British fashion industry. Critics also pointed out that her fashion choices not only pay homage to the legacy of Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth but also serve as an important tool for connecting with the public and should not be minimized.
[From People]
This is bullsh-t, all the way around. First of all, the Times and other outlets made it clear that the ?substance over style? quotes were not coming from Kate directly, but the quotes were attributed to an unnamed palace source. I knew what it meant it was coming from Kate?s office or it was coming from Kensington Palace in general, meaning Prince William?s staffers might have had a hand in it too. Why was Kate?s spokesperson unable to go on the record the first time, when he or she ranted to the Times and other outlets about not releasing fashion IDs? Why complain and explain nearly two weeks later, but not even make a point of changing the new and unpopular policy? It?s basically just an acknowledgement that Kate?s idea is unpopular, that she doesn?t actually have much substance to begin with, and that Kate and her staff are boneheads for orchestrating this completely unnecessary mess. Kate?s staffers are too incompetent to even fall on their swords properly this clarification just made things dumber.

![Anthony Mackie calls dating 'really hard' when you?re famous: 'how do you trust someone?' Anthony Mackie calls dating 'really hard' when you?re famous: 'how do you trust someone?'](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_hqcakcoverimages54476039.jpg) Captain America: Brave New World comes out this week! While Im not a Marvel girlie, I usually see the movies once at the theater and promptly forget the plotlines, Im a Mackie fangirl. His talent and charisma are off the charts. I will watch even his mediocre shows and movies, most recently Elevation with Morena Baccarin. It was a Quiet Place ripoff but I was entertained! There are recent profiles of Mackie in Deadline and Esquire if youd like a deep dive. His process, training and outlook are fascinating to me. He took ballet lessons while at Juilliard by sneaking into Baryshnikov classes!
I want to talk about a recent interview Mackie did with People Magazine, in which he admitted that its hard to date as a famous person. Hes not on the apps, which is not surprising to me. He said years ago that he tries to limit his phone use. He also told People he has social anxiety. While Mackie has been blased for not being open to random fan encounters, he wants to have his peace in his daily life and hes wary of peoples intentions. That sounds really healthy in his position. Heres some of what he told People.
For Anthony Mackie, being Captain America comes with plenty of perks ? but it hasn?t improved his romantic life.
The actor tells PEOPLE that if anything, his superhero status headlining Captain America: Brave New World makes dating ?obsolete,? adding ?the idea of dating is really hard.?
?How do you trust someone? How do you put yourself in a position to be vulnerable? How do you know what someone really [wants] from you when all you want is to just be loved and appreciated? What does that look like?? he continues.
The 46-year-old father of four, who split from his ex-wife Sheletta Chapital in 2018, isn?t on Tinder or Raya, either. ?I?m older and I don?t do the apps,? says Mackie
In the Big Easy, Mackie still goes to the same restaurants that were around when his late parents, Martha and Willie, raised him and his five siblings.
?Im not a big attention person. I appreciate the support. I appreciate the idea of people recognizing me for my work, if nothing else,? he says. ?But social anxiety is a real thing. And because of that, I run away and hide. I go to my places where I know people and they take care of me. And I just sit in the corner and put a umbrella over my head.?
[From People]
We have confirmation that hes single. So many people are in a similar situation, and I somewhat blame the apps. Like social media and outrage culture, theyve transformed the way we interact and have gamified the process of finding a partner. I think about this a lot, and about how it was once easy to use dating sites and they gradually devolved, much like the Internet overall. This is a rare personal admission from Mackie too. Hell tell cute anecdotes about his four sons but he hasnt revealed their names and we only know their rough ages, 8 to 15.
In regard to Mackies reluctance to engage with fans, in his Esquire interview he addressed a story that blew up on Twitter, where a woman saw him at a gas station and he waved her away. His phone number had recently been leaked and he was worn out from getting so many calls and texts. No wonder he doesnt want to get on Raya. Im hoping he finds a great partner though and that we hear about it somehow! Im nosey, but more than that I want him to be happily partnered up if hes looking for that. Also I want to see Anthony Mackie in a romcom!
Mackie did a class on Peloton with Alex Toussaint! Its time for me to subscribe again.

![Giant wastewater blockage causes Bryan Adams to cancel Australian show Giant wastewater blockage causes Bryan Adams to cancel Australian show](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_ODUBgavalon-0952577840.jpg) Canadian singer Bryan Adams had to cancel an Australian show for a really crappy reason. Was it because he injured himself falling through one of Oz?s notorious trap doors on stage? No. Was it because he was bitten by a random bat while performing? Still no. Was it because Madonna was running two hours late again? No source has confirmed that. Nope, Adams had to cancel his Sunday concert in Perth thanks to fatbergs. The official term used by professional waste management systems is taken from icebergs, only instead of made of glacial ice, the mounds are comprised of fat, grease, and rags (think wet wipes) that block the natural flow of things. Perth Water Corporation crews worked tirelessly to try and avert a cancellation. But in the end the fatbergs won the day, and Adams was forced to put a plunger in the proceedings or else risk it becoming a literal sh-t show. CNN had coverage of this overflowing situation:
A giant fatberg forced Bryan Adams to cancel a concert in Western Australia on Sunday night after authorities warned it could cause the venue?s toilets to overflow, posing a potential health risk.
The sold-out show at Perth?s RAC Arena was called off just hours before the Grammy award-winning singer was due to perform on his ?So Happy It Hurts? tour, disappointing thousands of fans, as workers scrambled to remove pools of water near the venue.
?Water Corporation crews are working to clear the large blockage of fat, grease and rags, which has caused several wastewater overflows? near the arena, the water company said in a statement.
?People should avoid contact with any pooled water ? as it may be sewage.?
Adams apologized to fans for the short-notice cancellation.
?I?m really sorry we couldn?t make this happen tonight ? I was so looking forward to seeing you all,? he wrote on Facebook on Sunday. ?I appreciate your patience and support and can?t wait to be back and play for you as soon as we can reschedule.?
Show organizers promised refunds for ticket holders, adding that the cancellation was out of their control.
?Last night?s concert could not proceed due to an external Perth Water Corporation issue, which was unable to be fixed in time,? booking agent Frontier Touring said Monday in a Facebook post, adding it was deemed ?unsafe for patrons to enter RAC Arena.?
?The cancellation of (the) show is bitterly disappointing, and we thank fans for their understanding that while every effort was made for the show to proceed, this matter was outside of the control of Bryan Adams, Frontier Touring and RAC Arena,? the post said.
But the explanation came too late for frustrated concertogers, who said they were left waiting for hours outside the venue before the show was called off, public broadcaster ABC News reported.
?It was obvious early afternoon that there was a serious issue,? said one commenter on Facebook in reply to the booking agent?s post. ?Disgraceful to make people stand outside the venue for hours before making the decision.?
Another user said: ?Devastating ? 15,000 people waiting on the streets for hours.?
?Fatbergs (the word is a portmanteau of fat and iceberg) form over time as items that can?t be broken down are flushed or washed down drains instead of disposed of correctly.
[From CNN]
Well there you have it, folks. Take the extra time to ensure you?re depositing waste in the proper place ? the fate of artists touring depends on it! (And let?s face it, thanks to skyrocketing ticket prices, that industry is already circling the drain.) And yes of course, the issue is larger than concerts being canceled last minute after tens of thousands of patrons stood outside in 80-degree heat (it?s summer Down Under!) in what was likely a malodorous venue. And it?s already a global issue: CNN reported on a 330-ton, half-mile-long fatberg that clogged up the pipes of Birmingham, UK in 2021 for weeks! When that incident occurred, local water management advised to ?leave leftover cooking fat to cool? before throwing it out in the trash, in addition to what they coined as the Three P?s of Flushing: pee, poo, toilet paper (my fourth P: points, for trying to make that alliteration happen).
Ok, I?m ready to close the lid on this for now. Aside from being a topic with yucky imagery, I do believe I?ve flushed out all the puns I possibly toilet. I mean can!

![Harrison Ford misses the connection that movies used to have to the culture Harrison Ford misses the connection that movies used to have to the culture](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_ZLiUEavalon-0958867130.jpg) When I watched the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, I was surprised to see Harrison Ford pop up. That should tell you how little attention I give to the comings and goings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apparently, Harrison Ford replaced William Hurt, who passed away in 2022. Ford stepped into the role of Thaddeus Ross, and within the film, he?s president of the United States. He?s also Red Hulk. Well, Marvel has Harrison out here promoting the film and he manages to sound less peeved than usual. Some highlights from his WSJ interview (via Variety):
The ?Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny? box office flop: The film lost Disney a reported $130 million after its global box office haul fell well below the $400 million mark. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford shrugged off the disappointment. ?Sh-t happens. I was really the one who felt there was another story to tell. When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened. I?m still happy I made that movie.?
Why he signed on to a Marvel film: Ford told WSJ Magazine that he accepted the Marvel role with ?no script? presented to him, adding: ?Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time. I didn?t really know that at the end I would turn into the Red Hulk. Well, it?s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing.?
A Marvel movie is just another day at the office: ?I tried to understand the ambition of the filmmakers, and to be useful to them. I just didn?t sit home at night and say, ?Oh, what do I want to do when I turn into the Hulk?? It didn?t seem to me to be a terribly difficult acting proposition.?
He?s feeling nostalgic for a time when movies made a far bigger impact. ?What I miss, really, truthfully, is the connection [cinema had] to the culture overall. Now we?re in people?s houses more than we?re in the commons. We work for niche audiences. Which doesn?t lessen the work. But we?re living in a different world, without the comfort of knowing that we?re all in this together. ? When asked what a Marvel movie is then, Ford answered: ?It?s a big niche.?
[From Variety]
While Ford misses being in huge cultural-moment films and misses when films had a huge impact, I actually think he?s weathered the industry changes really well. In some ways, he has much more freedom now than he did during his movie-star heyday. He can do an AppleTV show or join the MCU or do a TV show with Helen Mirren. He?s talked before about how he just likes to work, and that?s what it feels like too he?s not taking this sh-t seriously, he just likes having something to do. As for what he says about the last Indiana Jones movie? I ended up watching it and I hated it, and yet I sort of loved that Harrison was hellbent on making it. He loves the character, and that script was fking bonkers. Still, it was such a depressing way for Indy to go out.

![Ariana Grande: 'Beneath all of it is just a girl from Boca who loves art' Ariana Grande: 'Beneath all of it is just a girl from Boca who loves art'](https://besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20250212/20250212_DNkTsariana-grande.jpg) This Hollywood Reporter cover is perfectly timed, and it shows that Ariana Grande is absolutely going for it. Oscar voting opened this week, and Ariana is coming for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. If you ask me, she has a decent shot at it. Zoe Saldana has been picking up most of the supporting-actress awards so far this season, but Emilia Perez?s campaign might be dead in the water. Isabella Rossellini is a sentimental favorite and it would be a great Hollywood story if Ingrid Bergman?s daughter won an Oscar for playing a nun. But Ariana is showing the AMPAS voters that she?s here to play hardball too. This THR piece is a masterclass of Oscar-campaign positioning, and I?m in awe of the team Ariana assembled to make this happen. Some highlights:
On her Oscar nom: ?It?s a beautiful thing to feel like the work that I?m doing or have done is kind of, I suppose, I don?t know, enough or louder or whatever it is. This feeling that people are seeing me ? like, actually me ? it?s so silly because I?ve been seen for so long, but it feels like it?s maybe for the first time and it?s just different.?
She?s tired of her pop girl persona: ?At a certain point, you get tired of that [pop star] character, because it is a character. There are pieces of you and your story that are woven throughout your songwriting, but then, because of the way it travels and becomes sensationalized, it gets away from you. And beneath all of it is just a girl from Boca who loves art, and I think that?s why it?s been such a deeply healing gift to disappear into this character ? to take off one mask and put on another.?
She?s been working on getting cast as Glinda for years: ?People who didn?t understand would say, ?Oh, that?s so silly, they know how talented you are,? and I was like, ?That?s very nice, but Glinda requires so much. I have to be able to earn this and I don?t want it unless I?ve earned it.? It became this beautiful evolution of getting to know myself beneath it all. I was like, ?Oh my goodness, I love this person underneath the drag.???
She got her start on Broadway: ?I really thought I?d be a Broadway girl forever. I mean, that was the dream: I?d be in New York City doing eight shows a week, and then maybe on the side I?d be able to do music, and some people would want to hear it.?
Working on ?Victorious? with Dan Schneider: ?I?ve sort of talked about the protective measures that I think need to be put in place? [Therapy] and then some. I have dreams of a world where you?re not allowed to enter the entertainment industry without having it written in your contract, whether it?s with the record label or the production company, that there will be therapy multiple times a week and a support system. Being on a show that changes your life or releasing a song that changes your life exposes you to many forces, both love and hate, and there is no manual.?
The pile-on before the 2017 Manchester terrorist attack: ?It was just a crazy time: All I wanted was to sing and for it to be about my work, and it felt like the more successful the music became, the more people tried to destroy me.? The pile-on arguably hit fever pitch in 2015, when a then-22-year-old Grande was caught on a leaked security video licking a doughnut she hadn?t purchased and proclaiming she ?hates America.?Then tragedy hit in Manchester, and suddenly all of it seemed so silly. Grande has said she went from ?diva? to victim and hero virtually overnight.
Her relationship with Ethan Slater. The tabloid version of their love story suggests he left his wife and baby for her, though Grande, among others, has denounced that narrative, stating in an interview with Vanity Fair last fall: ?There couldn?t be a less accurate depiction of a human being.? (Grande, too, was married; though she and real estate broker Dalton Gomez had already separated by the time rumors of a new relationship had surfaced.) As she?s gotten older, Grande says she?s felt less compelled to defend herself and her choices, which is not to say the rumors and misinformation don?t get under her skin. ?It?ll never be unpainful,? she says. ?But also, I walk with the awareness that I?m an artist and this is a path that I?ve chosen, and so I just try to protect myself so that I never start to resent the art.?
[From THR]
They saved the worst for last the Ethan Slater thing is probably the most damaging issue for her Oscar campaign. It?s fine when a pop star has a messy romantic life and writes songs like ?break up with your girlfriend, i?m bored.? That?s not going to effect Ari?s pop star image, in fact, it enhances it. It?s quite another when the star of a major, family-friendly musical two-parter had a torrid affair with her Wicked costar and he left his wife and baby for Ariana. Not only that, Ethan?s ex-wife Lilly Jay is clearly a million times more sympathetic than the woman taunting her with lyrics like ?Why do you care so much whose dk I ride??
Anyway, other than the Ethan Slater stuff, Ariana?s Oscar campaign is going very well and she might even pull it off. I thought she was great in Wicked, and this THR piece convinced me that she gave up a lot to secure the role and do the best for Glinda. While I?m paying attention to the messy romantic stuff, I bet most Oscar voters don?t care that much. But we?ll see.
